-Right

What are the most popular colors of your people?
-Shades of Blues and Yellows

What side of the road does your nation drive on?: In the right, like any respectable nation.

What are the most popular colors of your people?: Shades of red and blue, currently violet-ish shades are trendy.

What real-world nation, if any, inspired yours?: well...
Image

How old is(/are) your leader(s)?: Prez Cathy has 29 years.

What tech-level is your nation?: Ooooh geez, it is kinda hard to explain the tech in a detailed manner. Early-FT is the rule of the game: Normal people can travel in their vacations to the Moon or Mars and go around the solar system comfortly although Freedonia didn't tried to go outside the local system. Electronics are quite advanced but aesthetically stuck in the 80-90's (weird when you can go to the MEGAWEB (internet analong) in your VR system and having a cyber-wrist (imagine the Pip-boy sent to the 90's) while video games still have Half Life-esque graphics and your PC has that windows XP A E S T H E T I C).

The Passport of the Auzkhian Reich has a dark red or maroon cover and it is adorned with the coat of arms. On top it has the name European Union and our country name on it in any of the languages and then passport on the bottom in those languages, you have to request which languages. French is guaranteed because it is the language of diplomacy.

As can be seen in the OP, I have added questionnaire/survey template links. It's very possible I've missed some. If you wish for your survey/questionnaire in this thread to be added, please include a "code" block of the survey. Example:

Code: Select all
This is a code block: for a survey.
You put questions here: And answer them here.
In an actual survey: the answer sections would be empty.

Single-question posts will NOT be added to the OP directory.

I figured that I will codify my questionnaire here. :)

Energy Consumption In Your Nation
Code: Select all
What is the annual energy consumption of your nation?
How much energy does your nation have?
What form of energy generation is the most prevalent (Coal/Oil/Solar/Wind/etc...)?
Cost of energy (e.g. NS$ 0.01 / Watt):
Is your nation committed to using/converting to clean energy?
Evaluate why for your choice for above question:
Any other noteworthy remarks:

My own response would be:
What is the annual energy consumption of your nation? Holly consumes about 10400 Joules of energy per year.

How much energy does your nation have? ∞ Joules of useful energy. Low estimate indicates that there is AT LEAST a good SSCG(3) ↑TREE(3) g64 Joules of energy, where g64 = Graham's Number, TREE(n) = TREE sequence, SSCG(n) = Friedman's SSCG function, and an b = Knuth's Up-Arrow Notation.

What form of energy generation is the most prevalent (Coal/Oil/Solar/Wind/etc...)?: Light Energy, so practically Solar Energy will win here.

Cost of energy (e.g. NS$ 0.01 / Watt): NS$ 0 per Joules.

Is your nation committed to using/converting to clean energy? Yes

Evaluate why for your choice for above question: Since the "nation", the home, has nothing but light energy, and that itself is non-polluting, so... it's pretty clean already.

Any other noteworthy remarks: Our energy levels is infinite, and yes, that does break the Laws of Thermodynamics.

• Violently violated the Laws of Thermodynamics with shoddy writing.
Ruled by * takes a deep breath *
Holly De Stralend en Wonderbaarlijk Licht Koningin Aurora Symantha Vreugde Lavender Astrid Lilac Marlie Nova Radiant Starlight.
(SSCG(3) ↑TREE(3) g64)! Joules,
g64 = Graham's Number, TREE(n) = TREE sequence, SSCG(n) = Friedman's SSCG function, n! = Factorial, and an b = Knuth's Up-Arrow Notation.

You can do both; it's just single-question posts won't be added to the registry in the OP, as that'd quickly become simply untenable and make such a template registry uselessly massive. You can still ask them, discuss them, etc.

I can't be bothered to do most complex questions so I'll just answer the questions of others and rp in the right sub-board for rping until my rp ends if it ever does instead of asking questions to others.

What side of the road does your nation drive on? Right
What are the most popular colors of your people? Blue, green, and red.
What real-world nation, if any, inspired yours? Israel, Persia, Mongolia, Indigenous groups of China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Bhutan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar.
How old is(/are) your leader(s)? Average age for a political figure is 40. Current leader, Tziporah Kasih, is 35.
What tech-level is your nation? MT, bordering on PMT in terms of sustainable tech.
What is the annual energy consumption of your nation? 4,890,173,310,000 kWh/yr. (6,215 kWh per person per year)
How much energy does your nation have? 2496 PE
What form of energy generation is the most prevalent (Coal/Oil/Solar/Wind/etc...)? Solar farms in our desert region provide most power. Hydro is second.
Cost of energy: $94 per MWh
Is your nation committed to using/converting to clean energy? Absolutely.
Evaluate why for your choice for above question: Merakh has been a leader in mitigating and adapting to climate change since the 60s and culturally has high disdain for environmentally harmful practices.
Any other noteworthy remarks: Merakh may be slightly PMT? Not highly futuristic, but out timeline has products and services not yet developed since our priorities shifted much earlier.
Is the Military as institution viewed positively or negatively by the public? Public opinion is neutral to positive with some anarchist and pacifist groups negative towards it. The military has not been involved in offensives measures since WWII, mainly used for disaster relief, refugee relocation, and defense, so the aggression commonly associated with militaries isn't something Merakh's army deals with
Are officers viewed positively or negatively? Neutral I'd say. Authority alone is not grounds for praise and honor in our military or society.
What qualities are officers viewed as having? Organizational skills, strategics, mutually respectful.
Are soldiers viewed positively or negatively? Positively for soldiers that continue past conscription, particularly those who help refugees and disaster victims.
What qualities are soldiers viewed as having? Dedicated, hard-working, kind to civilians.
How does the Military influence society? Not particularly much except for conscription, but conscripted members are not engaged in combat, and soldiers are rarely absent from home (depending on their division of course)
How does society influence the Military? Merakhis are highly pacifist unless defending against fascism and human rights concerns and very anti-idolization and corruption, so the military is not praised blindly and there are many groups against conscription, especially in our current period of peace.
Are there any festivals linked to the Military? There are parades with large focus on the military on May 1st and August 15th to honor the founding revolution against the Qing Dynasty and the end of WWII respectively.

What is the annual energy consumption of your nation? 105.7 tWh/year (87950.5 kWh/person/year)
How much energy does your nation have? 112.3 tW/year
What form of energy generation is the most prevalent? nuclear fusion
Cost of energy: $42.3/MWh
Is your nation committed to using/converting to clean energy? yes, and it already has
Evaluate why for your choice for above question: due to the waste generated by nuclear fission and fossil fuels
Any other noteworthy remarks: When nuclear fusion was discovered it quickly took off to replace other types of energy generation, and, as a result of the cheap new energy production, there is a national initiative to modernize the power grid.

Definitely a handful to look at. This is going to take hours to complete. I'll post my reply here and make edits when I have the time to answer more questions:

I. Questions of Place.

Describe the geography of where your society calls home. Bad. Typically uninhabitable for normal human beings in terms of temperature, pollution levels, and overall plant life.
Describe the climate your society deals with. How severe are their seasons? Extremely hot. Winter, spring, and fall do not exist here, however, since our pollution levels are high enough to instigate a perpetual warming of our atmosphere to temperatures that exceed hundreds of degrees (Fahrenheit). In other words, we're in an extreme form of summer, forever.
What kinds of natural disasters has this society gotten used to? Volcanic activity and widespread fires. Both disasters are particularly due to the fact that part of our nation resides in the dimension of Hell.
What importance (spiritual or cultural) do people ascribe to the geography? Not really much. We do attribute it to the reference that this ground we stand on is completely uninhabitable for democratic countries. We plan on expanding the horrible conditions of our Empire as far as possible. Problem is... "as far as possible" means our entire universe, and that isn't exactly possible at the moment... or anytime soon.
How do people feel about local landscapes being altered or used for a purpose other than what is traditional? Everyone will follow what our leader, the Great Uniter and Beast, does, says, and orders, so nobody will question him directly or oppose him in any form of way. That being said, he will likely never come to a decision that involves using non-traditional methods of extorting our hazardous geographical land.
What are the most commonly-grown foods? N/A. We don't consume food here.
What are the most commonly-eaten meats? N/A. See above.
What foods are considered exotic or expensive? N/A. See above.
What forms of alcohol are common? Rare? N/A. See above.
Is there usually enough food and water for the population? N/A. See above.
What is this place's most abundant resource? Likely either coal or petroleum. We extensively use non-renewable resources. Clearly, this has become a prime reason for our temperature levels to rise so abnormally quickly.
What is its most valuable resource? Metal. We regularly outfit our dragons with PMT-level armor. Clearly, said armor will be fashioned from metal. Iron is the standard, but more durable substances will always be preferred.
What resource is it most lacking? Water. You will most-likely never see any form of water in the DGES due to almost, if not all of it, having evaporated. Our overall temperature is much too high to sustain the substance here.
How do people travel from one place to another? We have military vehicles, bullet trains, locomotives, airplanes, and the ability to fly (rarely used and only some possess the ability to fly).
Are the borders secure? In what way? Definitely. We have our overall landscape conditions to deter any unwanted visitors and our military to enforce its safety.
How many people live here? 900-999 billion. (OOC: Not going any higher than this estimate due to me not wanting to be too overpowered with my nation.)
Where in this place do they congregate? Anywhere. Our entire population has some form of military training, and we engage in armed conflicts with other nations on a regular basis. Preparation is a necessity.
What part of this place do they avoid? Why? The Void and certain parts of Hell. The Void due to it being a place where you literally cannot do anything other than simply exist there (yes, once you enter the area, you exist there for all eternity), and the most egregious parts of Hell for obvious reasons.
What are the most common domesticated animals here? And what are they domesticated for? N/A. Pets and pet lovers don't exist here.
What are the most common wild animals? How are wild animals treated? Dragons, we assume. We used to hunt them down for the sole purpose of driving them to extinction, but now we have decided to incorporate them into our armed forces. Fighting them is an incredibly unwise decision to make, unless said decision was made due to no other options to choose from.
Which animals are likely to be pets? Which ones won't be? Possibly human POWs. Nothing else will be used as pets here.
What are the most common domesticated plants here? And what are they used for? Domesticated plants? Here? They'll die.
What are the most common wild plants here? What are they used for? Dead ones. We can at least use them to make coal, though that process might take a very long time to undergo.

II. Questions of Time.

How far back does this society’s written history go? B.C era. We are centuries old in terms of years.
How far back do its people believe it goes? See above.
How was this society founded? Who founded it and under what circumstances? The Great Uniter and Beast of the DGES founded it after uniting everyone after a moderate-sized war occurred. He was the winner of said war, obviously.
What were the chief powers in the time when this society was founded? Him and a band of sorcerers.
If it originated far away from here, how did it get here? It was always here. We've extended our borders, but the original area is still being used.
What is the worst disaster they believe they've faced? A civil war. Basic information of it can be found in our main factbook.
What are the major events in this culture's past? Other than our civil war, we've always been invading other countries to annihilate them from existence.
What was the best thing that ever happened to them? We joined Psychotic Dictatorships, enlightening us with the glory of DEAREST LEADER Menta Lee-Il.
What in their past makes them feel ashamed? We were overthrown once in another war. Actual details of said war are unable to be gathered at the moment, but it did lead to this occurring: Destructive Government Economy System. Luckily, we got back together and now this will never occur again, based on what we know so far.
What in their past makes them proud? Joining our current region.
What are they afraid of happening again? Being overthrown.
What are they hoping will happen? Do they think it likely? Taking over our entire universe to rid it of democratic countries. It is likely to never happen, but we will always strive towards this goal. One less democracy = one less crumb to worry of cleaning.
How strongly are people attached or connected to their heritage? Most don't even have mind here. They're animated skeletons with no mind of their own.
What do they assume the future will hold? The ones who do possess actual minds (i.e. sorcerers) have no idea, but that is what makes it so interesting. If we controlled our own fate, it would surely provide many benefits, but it has a chance of being slightly anticlimactic.
How has this society changed? Do its current members realize this? We've adapted to modern technology, and of course we've realized this.
What are the most popular stories about the past? Our civil war and of the tales of our DEAREST LEADER.
Who in the past is the greatest hero? The worst villain? Heroes: Our DEAREST LEADER and our Emperor, the Great Uniter and Beast. Villains: Democratic leaders and citizens. Every single one of them is seen as the "worst" by us.
Do people think the present better or worse than the past? Better, since now we're capable of mass destruction through our advancements in technology.
Do people believe the future will be better or worse than the present or past? We will have to wait and see.

III. Questions of Race and Ethnicity.

What are the chief races in the region?
What are the chief ethnic groups of each race in the region? How are they distributed in place?
How do they differ by language, appearance or ancestry?
What jobs do the chief ethnicities primarily occupy? Are any groups denied work because of racial or ethnic heritage?
What are typical attitudes of the native (or majority) ethnos to immigrants and other ethnicities?
How has any variety of ethnicity in the region changed the society’s culture?

IV. Questions of Family.

How many spouses may a man or woman have?
Who decides on a marriage?
Can a marriage end in divorce? How?
Who usually takes custody of children if a marriage ends for some reason?
How are families named?
What happens to orphans?
How are boy and girl children treated differently?
What, if anything, is considered a good marriage gift?
What inanimate or sexless things are considered male or female?
Does this society connect the ideas of marriage with love?
How big are families, typically?
What constitutes a household? How many people live in one household? How many generations?

Just your typical guy who wants to have fun. Don't take this nation seriously,
ever.
I DO NOT use NS stats!
Keshiland literally wrote:I would give it a no. A country that lies about how free, or how great, or how humanitarian it is can never be developed. Example, NK lies and says they are democratic and are not, the US lies and says we are free yet we incarcerate millions for a medical plant. See we are basically a larger more populated North Korea.

Didn't answer all of them tho
I. Questions of Place.

Describe the geography of where your society calls home. Pelotas is a small, but densely populated, country in east-central South America. To the north is Brazil, to the northwest is Paraguay, to the west is Argentina, and to the south is Uruguay. The country is mainly mountainous on the coast, while more inland there are more flat plains.
Describe the climate your society deals with. How severe are their seasons? The climate is milder than more tropical regions of South America, but still quite hot. Snow is extremely rare in the country, but has happened before. Winters are usually rainy and usually average about 7 degrees. In the summer, the average temperature is about 25 degrees.
What kinds of natural disasters has this society gotten used to? Floods are the most common type of natural disaster, and the country is relatively protected from natural disasters like tornadoes and earthquakes.
What importance (spiritual or cultural) do people ascribe to the geography? The plains of the inland west have cultivated (no pun intended) a strong culture of farming and ranching, known as Gaucho culture. The importance of ranching in specific is also shared with areas of Argentina and Uruguay. Gauchos in Pelotense folklore could be compared to the cowboys of the American southwest.
How do people feel about local landscapes being altered or used for a purpose other than what is traditional? Quite strongly. Environmentalism has become a major movement in the country and many consider the environment to be of peak importance, as well as the preservation of local landscapes.
What are the most commonly-grown foods? Rice, wheat, sugar cane.
What are the most commonly-eaten meats? Beef, pork, and chicken.
What foods are considered exotic or expensive? Lobster, salmon, crab.
What forms of alcohol are common? Rare? Beer and wine are both almost equally as common, with beer being slightly more popular. Spirits like vodka and whisky are relatively uncommon, while makeshift home brew spirits like moonshine are rather uncommon, as the country never experienced a form of prohibition so there was no need to brew makeshift spirits.
Is there usually enough food and water for the population? Yes.
How do people travel from one place to another? By car or bus usually. Trains are usually used for cargo. Planes are used for longer distances, and people don't usually take a plane on domestic journeys.
Are the borders secure? In what way? Borders have checkpoints and guards, though it's relatively easy to get into the country if you have a valid passport and no drugs/weapons on you.
How many people live here? 29,016,114
Where in this place do they congregate? Generally on the coasts, just like in Brazil.
What part of this place do they avoid? Why? The more inland regions. Less favourable climate, and less big cities due to most land being for farming.

II. Questions of Time.

How far back does this society’s written history go? A few million years.
How was this society founded? Who founded it and under what circumstances? Indigenous culture began at an unspecified date a few million years ago, European culture was brought to the area in the 16th century after Portuguese colonisation of Brazil.
What were the chief powers in the time when this society was founded? France, Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Portugal.
If it originated far away from here, how did it get here? Boats.

III. Questions of Race and Ethnicity.

What are the chief races in the region? 82% of the country is of White European descent, 5% are of mixed black and white descent, 5% are of Asian descent, 4% are of Native descent, 2% are Black, and 1.5% are of Arabian descent. Remaining racial groups make up about .5% of the country's demographics, including mixed race people who are not of mixed black and white ("Mulatto") descent.
What are the chief ethnic groups of each race in the region? How are they distributed in place? Most of the white population is of Portuguese (40% of European Pelotense people), German (36%), Italian (10%), Spanish (6%), Dutch (3%) descent, while 5% of the country's white population have other European ancestral backgrounds, including significant minorities of Polish, French, and British people. 95% of the country's Asian population are Japanese. The largest Native ethnic group are the Kaingang people, who make up about 70% of the country's native population, although numbers aren't particularly reliable because of intermarrying between native tribes and European settlers. When mixed indigenous/European people are included, they are the largest native group, and they are considered "Native" by the national census, rather than being grouped together with other mixed populations. 90% of the country's black population are of West African descent due to the slave trade. 99% of Arabs are of Lebanese descent.

IV. Questions of Family.

How many spouses may a man or woman have? One.
Can a marriage end in divorce? How? Yes. A couple can file for divorce using the legal system.
Who usually takes custody of children if a marriage ends for some reason? Whoever is seen fit by the legal system.
How are families named? For people of Portuguese and Spanish descent, they have two family names, one maternal and one paternal (e.g. Clemente Garcia Mendes) and women of Portuguese and Spanish descent do not typically take the last names of their partners. Other ethnic groups typically only have one family name, and women usually take their husband's last name, although this isn't always the case.
What happens to orphans? Orphans are taken care of by the Child Protection Agency of their respective state, and are kept under their custody until a suitable foster/adoptive parent is found.
How are boy and girl children treated differently? In more traditional households, boys are raised to become breadwinners and are usually taught to provide for their families and to treat women with respect and honour. Girls are traditionally raised to become homemakers and raise a family. However, traditional gender roles are slowly becoming less popular, and children are typically raised to make their own decisions in regards to a career or raising a family.
What, if anything, is considered a good marriage gift? White goods, money, home decor.

VII. Questions of Faith.

Is the culture religious or nonreligious? Generally religious.
What are the major religious groups in the region? Protestantism (48%), Roman Catholicism (44%). Other religious groups all make up less then 3% of the nation's religious population each, so they are not included.
Are religious traditions and any scriptures oral or written in nature or a combination? Written.
Is there a set canon of what consitutes officially sanctioned scripture? It depends on the church.

X. Questions of Marriage.

How is a marriage defined? How is a marriage contracted? A union between two consenting adults who have a mutual love and understanding of each other. Marriages are contracted by either a on ordained religious figure (i.e. a Catholic priest or an Anglican vicar) or an authorised government official (in the case of a civil marriage, which since 2006 has identical legal status to religious marriage, though most still prefer to be married in a religious building, including non-religious people due to long-standing traditions).
How are marriages celebrated? Usually with a reception or party after the marriage is performed.
What is considered too great a difference in age for a couple? It generally varies from person to person. Most people really don't care that much as long as both people are above the legal age to marry.

Apart from face to face, how do people communicate with each other? By phone, using the internet, or by mail.

XVIII. Questions of Government.

What is the form of government? How is it structured? Federal parliamentary republic. There are four main components of the government. Firstly, the President, who is the country's head of state, then the two houses of the Federal Parliament (the Federal Assembly and the Council of Senators), the Council of Federal Ministers (our cabinet), and the judiciary (including the Supreme Court of Pelotas).
What are some of the most fundamental policies of the government? The preservation of democracy, peace, and equality.
What is the political status of minority communities? Minority communities are given special protections by the government.

Who decides whether someone has broken a law? How? The judicial system. They put them through a trial where it is decided if they've committed a crime.

The title usually only lasts for the time a President or Prime Minister is in office, though the title can be granted for life by the President to someone of significant importance or honour. The President cannot, of course, grant the title to his or herself for life, as that would be silly.
How do government officials dress? Women dress in skirt/pant suits and dresses usually, though it varies.

What tech level is your nation?

For Zeganas the technology is currently at PMT levels, comparable to what's expected of 2050s technology thanks to the mastery of graphene, nuclear fusion, and advanced medicine.

What is the biggest and longest running professional sports "curse" in your nation? (as in what is the most years a domestic sports team has gone in your nation without hitting a certain important milestone, such as winning a championship.)

For Ru the most "cursed" sports club would probably be The New Ru Imperials, from Ru's largest sports league, The Ruvian Soccer 5s league.

Despite being one of the league's 8 founding clubs, and despite being the team from Ru's largest city and media market, the New Ru Imperials have only won a single Commissioner's Cup Championship in the league's 107 year history, in 1988. Setting the record for most consecutive seasons without winning a title for major professional sports in Ru at 77. As of 2018, the Imperials are in the middle of another big championship drought, having gone 30 years since winning their lone title.

The Imperials have not been without success, having reached the championship final a total of 9 times, but falling just short on a whopping 8 finals appearances. These statistics have given the New Ru Imperials by far the largest reputation of being a "cursed" franchise, though fans of the numerous teams in this league and others that have never won a title certainly feel as though they have cause to debate this fact.
A civilization with an over 3,000 year history of lizard people killing each other and enslaving everyone else. Now they've finally calmed down and formed a modern westernized constitutional monarchy. (long live Emperor Yoshio!)

Note: Any factbook entries over a year old are severely out of date and may be subject to extreme revision and retconning soon. If you have questions on anything about Ru, please feel free to ask.

What music does your leader generally listen to? Classical Music
Does your leader play an instrument?
If he/she does play an instrument, then which one? Emperor Norton II plays the piano, and he also used to play the violin, the trumpet, and the guitar.
If he/she does play an instrument, is your leader particularly skilled at it? The Emperor is extremely skilled at the piano, however, he is merely average at the trumpet and violin, and he has not played them since his coronation.

His skill with the guitar is infamously awful, and recordings of his teenage guitar lessons have been used as a torture device by nations that practice torture.

Anything noteworthy related to your leader and music: He can play a piano version of all 45 minutes of the national anthem.
