Name: Eljin Constant

Age: 34

Species: Human

Gender: Male

Appearance: Almost six foot, with a mass of 82kg.

Bio: Born Paul Spicer on the mining habitat station Moon-Harrok, Eljin enjoyed a comfortable life. His parents, owners of both Moon-Harrok and a dozen other mining interests across the sparsely-populated Celsius system, provided him every luxury that could be afforded. From a young age he received a great deal of resources and responsibility, all in an effort to prepare him for the eventually of succeeding his parents as head of their modestly successful mining corporation. He took lessons in personal combat, with his parents sparing no expense on a series of instructors from the oldest colonies to teach their son in the fashionable swordplay famous among certain castes within the Republic.

Though initially expected to oversee the logistical management of Moon-Harrok's storerooms, the youth who would come to be known as Eljin instead pressured his parents to allow him to instead focus on science. Taking an deep interest in the native population of Harrok, above which Moon-Harrok sat, Eljin pursued the enigmatic science around Harroki medicine. Unlike the mainstream methodologies of the Republic, which looked to robotics and chemistry for advancement, the Harroki had turned to biology in its entirety. Living organisms became the tools by which Harroki kept their people alive, from bacteria cleansing bodies of cancer to symbiont weaves for regrowth of limbs. For years Eljin studied this fascinating field for inspiration, unifying the cultural achievements of the Harroki with human knowledge. But as with all good things, Eljin's exploits drew an envious gaze.

Designing specialised bio-augmentations and equipment - from symbiont rebreathers capable of rendering synthetic material variants obsolete, to fungal networks to facilitate telepathy - Paul Spicer expected to become a living legend in the Republic. For the Mortorian Conglomerate, such an outcome was...undesirable. So when he refused to sell away his discoveries, the Mortorians - quietly backed by the Republic's Board for Singularity Research who desired more influence over the mining colonies of the outer territories - staged a mutiny aboard Moon-Harrok.

Paul survived only via the support of the Harroki, who aided in shuttling him to the deep space refueling post Jav Malvae. From there, that unofficial meeting place of criminality and washouts, it was not hard for Paul to find what he needed: the means for vengeance. Boarding a Freeman ship, new name and new life, Eljin Constant began his career of piracy that would stretch a dozen different crews. Though ostensibly maintaining that he is nothing more than a wronged doctor, Eljin cannot help but let his more bloodthirsty interests show now and again, with new weapons and equipment of biological origin somehow finding its way into a ship's armoury.

Role: Chief Medical Officer

Skills: First Aid - Proficient; Surgery - Proficient; Research (Biological) - Genius; Research (Medical) - Proficient; Engineering (Medical) - Genius; Engineering (Biological) - Proficient; Firearms - Capable; Melee (Noble) - Proficient

Personality: Eljin Constant isn't very good at masking how he feels, though the good doctor gets stubborn when asked to explain those emotions. He complains about everything, nursing everything imagined as a personal slight against him. Disbeliever in god, he considers himself morally superior to those with faith, and is often vocal about it. As such he is not seen as a charismatic or particularly likeable figure, especially when he refuses to blunt his honest assessments of situations and people.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Gifted scientist when it comes to harnessing the power of biology and unifying it with more mainstream technologies, however his specialisation is such that outside Harroki or human levels of intelligence, he is as useful as a rock for uncovering new and exciting fields of research; talented engineer, capable of designing and creating working devices and organisms with which to save lives, and kill them in the most barbaric manners, but this is limited entirely to his field of understanding as he has no talent - and as such no interest - in the making or crafting of objects that could be used, for example, with the maintenance of a spaceship; Competent martial figure when it comes to personal combat, able to handle himself more than any real doctor has a right to, however given his lack of formal training, and abject disregard for such notions as discipline or anything resembling a long-term strategy, he is no tactician nor team player when it comes to a firefight; given his lack of subtlety or regard for the feelings of those around him, Eljin is no leader, nor a particularly promising negotiator for when dealing with rivals or trade partners.

Name: Kojou Ruth

Age: Early 40's

Species: Zashan, a race of bluish-green-skinned humanoids from the planet of the same name, located on the fringe of Republic space. Due to the harsh gravity of Zasha as well as a myriad of other planetary factors, Zashans by default are seen as somewhat "superhuman" in the eyes of regular humans, being much stronger, faster, and more durable than the regular human. Zashans are known to be just as smart as humans and bleed purple blood.

Gender: Male

Appearance: You know who's in the middle

Bio: Most Zashans have already heard of the tale of Kojou, the skilled sailor and navigator originating from the planet of Zasha. Born to an otherwise insignificant family on the fringe world, Kojou was on the seas at the early age of 7 years old, where he quickly learned the trade of sailing the vast oceans and scouring the purple sands well before his friends had ever decided to. Zashan culture dictated that one's ability to sail would indicate their level in society, meaning that Kojou's expertise in oceanic sailing on Zasha allowed him to progress up the ranks in society, eventually gaining enough clout and prestige to buy his own spaceship and take off from the sparkling seas below to the skies above.

The fact that the Zashans were an already spacefaring race by the time the Republic Galactica came across them provided a new opportunity for the growing Republic: The Zashans were naturally fit for mercenary and privateer roles, with many of them being recruited into the military to stamp out dissent and piracy thanks to their strength and pre-existing skill of sailing. Rather than join up with the Republic and possibly prosper within the Navy by using his skill for good, Kojou instead decided to use his skill for arguably the wrong reason, using his prestige and savings to modify his existing ship into a raiding cutter, where he raided Republican shipping lanes as frequently as he clashed with other rogue pirates and privateers among the stars. During this time, he racked up an intensive knowledge on star systems and navigation, to the point where he’d memorized his way around several major systems, without the need of maps and star charts.

Eventually, his escapades would catch up to him when he found himself facing off against a rival pirate and his crew, the close altercation costing both captains their ships and their crew, with a duel ensuing among the wreckage on a backwater world. Thanks to his strength, Kojou was able to come out on top, but at the cost of his ship and his crew. Wandering the galaxy in grief for a few years, Kojou would eventually find his navigational and piloting skills to be of service to the captain of the Fafnir, Arminius von Sigurd.

Role: Sailing Master/Navigator

Skills:
  • Sailing Master: Both as a title and as a proper role, Kojou is a skilled sailor and navigator, with many years under his belt both as a navigator and as a former captain himself throughout the stars.
  • Brawn: Due to his Zashan physiology, Kojou is much stronger than the regular human, allowing him to complete otherwise strenuous manual labor with ease.
  • The Fighter: Kojou has just as much experience sailing and navigating as he does fighting: give him a weapon, and he'll probably already know at least two ways to kill someone with it. Melee weapons are his speciality.

Personality: Kojou never takes things seriously. Of the crew, he is up there among the most optimistic and talkative, yet seems to hide a seemingly friendly demeanor with that of vice towards his enemies and and a lust for battle. To be frank, most of the time he's just here for the money, and will not hesitate to try and take control of the situation himself to achieve his goals.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

    • Great fighter
    • Excellent sailor
    • Excellent navigator
    • Imposing figure

Name: Andios Lockjaw

Age: 19

Species: Feli - Generally speaking, Feli is a catchall term for a species of small, humanoid aliens very similar in appearance to Earth felines. Along with their human features, they harbor feline features as well, such as longer and more powerful leg muscles, sharper teeth, sharp claws, an overall much more physically fit build, and a strong sense of smell and hearing. In addition, their sense of perception is superior to that of a human with more powerful eyes, and can detect movement faster and balance more easily thanks to a tail. but for the most part are all but identical to humans. Feli are generally smaller and able to fit into tight spaces as well, with an average full-grown Feli being 5'0".

Gender: Male

Appearance: Andios

Bio: To this day, the origins of Andios Lockjaw still remain a mystery to most who come across him. Some say that he was the child of a legendary couple of mercenaries, or an escaped science experiment gone wrong, while others — especially those that he had formerly worked alongside in some way — say that he was born from the slums and backwater worlds of the Galaxy itself, and simply came into being like some sort of myth rather than being birthed by a mother and father. Of course, none of these stories are wholly true. Andios instead simply came to being like any regular individual would, his parents being scientists stationed aboard a Republic research ship that had made the very unfortunate decision of entering the wrong nebula on a regularly-scheduled mission.

Said nebula was owned by the Blood Pirates, an up and coming and powerful gang of ravenous marauders, who would pillage and rape everything in their way, only to sell their wares and loot in the outer fringes of the Galaxy, where they possessed significant clout. The Blood Pirates boarded and razed the ship, culling all of its members in a brutal, yet methodical fashion, before they eventually decided to make away with the ship itself using Salvage craft. Before they could do so, however, they came across an infant - a very young Feli baby named Andios, who had been left as the sole survivor of the ship and spared by the Pirates. In a sudden move of compassion and humility, the pirates adopted the baby boy and took him as their own, giving him the surname "Lockjaw", in honor of the gang's late pet.

While Andios was very much glad to be alive, he began to realize that, even from a very young age, he wasn't shaping up to become a member of the crew, but, instead, an servant for the crew. This is where he began his shift from simple pet to warrior, with the pirates taking notice of Andios and his skills, rather than his functionality as a pet that could get between tight spaces. With the help of the other pirates, Andios pushed himself to the limit both physically and mentally, training with the near limitless supply of weapons that the Blood Pirates had in their vast armory. His skill with heavy weaponry turned out to be such a benefit to the pirates during their missions that Andios became the Captain's own First Mate, the de facto second in command of the Blood Pirates. A true marauder now, Andios seemed to be on the right path — to becoming the next leader of the interstellar band of pirates, but not before something changed his mind drastically, causing his entire perspective on the Blood Pirates to change instantly.

One of the original pirates — who witnessed firsthand the adoption of Andios, gave a shocking confession to the Feli pirate on his deathbed, which described the shocking and tragic truth about his backstory, and how the Captain of the Blood Pirates was responsible for all of it. Andios's desire to enact revenge on the Captain was only further increased when the captain tried to kill him in order to hide the truth from the rest of the crew, in anticipation that he would use the information to expose the Captain as the villain he was and incite a mutiny. However, Andios's plan backfired when the crew saw his killing of the Captain — in self defense — as an indication that he was going to betray the crew, and thus engaged in combat with him too. Andios's expertise in combat - especially with his heavy weaponry - was the primary factor that saved him that day.

At the end of his rampage, the Blood Pirates were completely wiped out, their resources completely exhausted trying to eliminate the rogue First Mate as the few survivors scattered to become bandits and start up their own, smaller pirate gangs. Andios, on the other hand, took the solo route and became a freelancer, gathering the remaining funds and loot that he could and buying his own ship, where he began working various odd jobs for money to maintain himself. While he was, at first, making a decent living as a freelance mercenary and smuggler, his rather expensive ship and weaponry were still very expensive to maintain and needed almost constant maintenance, which, combined with the cracking down of piracy that the Republic had begun, contributed to the frustrating environment that he now lives in.

As of now, Andios has since found work under Arminius von Sigurd, captain of the Fafnir, where he looks to utilize his experience and skill set to his fullest potential in a new environment, and under a seemingly trustworthy captain, despite the bad memories of the Blood Pirates that still haunts him to this day.

Role: Unofficial ship pet/Weapons Specialist

Skills:
  • Heavy Weapons Expert: Andios has had thorough training and experience in utilizing a a wide range of heavy weapons, thanks to his experience with using them in the blood pirates. Wielding like a heavy plasma launcher or a railgun is second nature to him, and if offered the choice between two weapons, he would gladly take the larger alternative.
  • Gunslinger: Andios feels just as comfortable using small weapons as he does larger ones, though takes preference to the latter. Regardless, if he is in a pinch, smaller weapons will definitely suffice. He's retained knowledge from training on basic weak spots for armored targets and ships, giving anyone that fights alongside him a much easier job in disabling or destroying much larger threats like spaceships.
  • Swift: Thanks to his Feli physiology, Andios is much faster and much more agile than most people he faces, able to squeeze through and reach small spaces and climb several kinds of surfaces thanks to his sharp claws. His sense of perception and senses of hearing and smell are also tuned up, allowing him to locate targets easily.

Personality: Andios has a no-nonsense personality: he is straight to the point, upfront, and forward about everything. He's the type that would shoot first and ask questions later, or go on long tangents about how "gun x is worse than gun y" in the worst of situations. He does have a distrust inside for pirates in general and a dislike of the republic, though, at the current moment, would rather work for the former than for the latter.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
    Strengths
    • Excellent shot
    • Well-rounded with most guns
    • Quick and nimble
    • Good balance
    • Obedient, for the most part
    • Sober
    Weaknesses
    • Short temper

He does have a distrust inside for pirates in general and a dislike of the republic, though, at the current moment, would rather work for the former than for the latter.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
    Strengths
    • Excellent shot
    • Well-rounded with most guns
    • Quick and nimble
    • Good balance
    • Obedient, for the most part
    • Sober
    Weaknesses
    • Short temper
    • Anger issues
    • Trust issues
    • Know-it-all

Likes/dislikes:
    Likes
    • Fighting
    • Heavy Weapons
    • Having things work
    • Gun maintenance
    • Trustworthy people
    Dislikes
    • Untrustworthy people
    • Having things go wrong
    • Guns breaking
    • Dogfighting
    • Drinking

Misc. info:

RP Sample: You know me.

Both look good. I'll get them added.

You don't necessarily have to go with any archetype, although the ship cook is still open. An intelligence officer, a la Spock, might be interesting.

For now, before we get right into the action, takes the time to flesh out some character interactions. I really want to see how everyone works off of each other.

Name: Bruno Mcbolt
Age: 23
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Appearance: Image
He stands at about 6’2 and weighs in at about 198 lbs.
Bio: Bruno is incredibly secretive about his past. All that is known about his life before joining the crew of the Fafnir was that he was born to a clan of warriors, likely from earth. He was trained in many forms of combat, making him one of the most deadly hand to hand fighters in the whole galaxy, possibly even surpassing his employer Sigurd. The circumstances of his hiring are rather simple however, as he met Sigurd one day in a port, and simply offered his services at a rather high price. The price is unspecified, though it’s believed that the price has increased since he was first hired.
Role: Bodyguard to Sigurd (though he may not need one)
Skills:
-Hand to hand combat: Bruno is talented in multiple forms of armed and unarmed combat, having become skilled with multiple weapons and martial arts. Some weapons Bruno is known to use are:
-Sword: Specifically a more French form of dueling, wielding two swords, a broadsword and a parrying dagger. However, Bruno substitutes the parrying dagger with a short sword.
-Lance/Halberd: Bruno is skilled in multiple pole arms, combining them with a more acrobatic style of combat allowing him maneuver around his enemies, using the lance as a part of the environment to be used in acrobatics, as well as a weapon
-Dagger: Simple dagger combat, nothing special.
-Kusarigama: Twin blades attached together by chains, to be used in long and short distance combat.
-Clawblades: Three bladed gloves that allow for close range combat without much need of extra bulky weapons.
-Mechanical shield: A shield that folds and stored itself inside a metal disc on Bruno’s arm. He rarely uses it unless disarmed in sword combat.
-Long range combat: While not quite Bruno’s main skill, he is rather deadly with a gun. He has a favorite pistol, an automatic weapon with two barrels.
-Rapid Tactics: Bruno isn’t he most skilled tactician, however, he has mastered the art of thinking on the fly, and can easily account for and combat almost any enemy. His mind moves faster than most, and he can process information almost as fast as it comes to him, allowing him to make snap judgements in combat and quickly turn the tide of a battle against his foe.
-Charm and Charisma: Bruno has a way with words, which works out in his favor when he tries to find new jobs.
Personality: Bruno is enigmatic and strange. He is secretive, and rather quiet. He tends to stick close to Sigurd. He is rather clever, with a quick wit and a cynical sense of humor.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+Physical Strength
+Rapid thinking
+Years of training
+Skeptical mind
+Silver tongue
-Can’t pilot for sh#t
-Severe alcoholic
-Not many people can really... well, take him seriously due to his somewhat odd appearance.
Likes/dislikes:
+Alcohol
+The thrill of combat
+Beautiful women (and men)
+Captain Sigurd
-Being on a ship (ironic, I know)
-Incompetent opponents
-People who are “not fun.”
-Being mocked for his appearance.
-Being called a woman.
Misc. info:
RP Sample:Gotham: A new generation

Was going to write more for the bio, and maybe add descriptions to skills, but I'm really damn tired.

Name: Bess Bates
Age:23
Species: Human
Gender:Female
Appearance:
Image
Bio: Bess Bates is the sole daughter of Republic Admiral Jamison J Bates, Protector of the Republic and Commander of Black Ops for the Republic, although the second title is unknown to most. As his first and only child, Bess was trained from early childhood to become his eventual successor. Rigorous training in all fields of special operations consumed her childhood - at least when she didn't manage to sneak out of the house. The same deluge of constant training continued until 18, when Bess was enlisted into the military as a common soldier. Her training paid off immediately. She quickly rose through the ranks without her father's help, and was transferred to Black Ops after receiving several commendations and reaching the rank of Captain. This life of action and personal growth had not actually seemed that bad to Bess - good pay, good work, and a supportive family. Her perception changed in an instant. Her work in the Black Ops division saw her committing horrible atrocities in the name of the Republic, killing planetary leaders for speaking out against the Republic and destroying entire cities under suspicion of treason. The loving but stern father figure that she had throughout her life was corrupted in a flash, revealed to be a sick man who would do anything for the Republic. Bess couldn't keep going. She packed her gear and deserted, hopping from planet to planet until her trail was suitably cleared from the eyes of her father... at least for now.
Role: Chef, Intel Specialist
Skills:
Combat:
Sniper Rifle, Mastery
Silent Movement, Mastery
Handgun, Proficiency
Knives (Melee and Ranged), Proficiency
Social:
Deception and Seduction, Mastery
Disguise Appearance, Proficiency
Persuasion, Proficiency
Role-Specific:
Investigation and Data Collection, Mastery
Perception, Mastery
Culinary Ability, Mastery
Miscellaneous:
(None right now, but I’m reasonably sure this list will change as the RP progresses)
Personality: Playful, but serious when necessary, hardened to the necessities of war but determined to do what is right
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Physical Strength/Flexibility
Beauty (Though I suppose it’s a disadvantage in some cases)
Weaknesses:
Scientifically inept
Weak in fair one-on-one combat, silent takedowns excluded of course
Likes/dislikes:
Likes:
Good wine
Good informants
Dislikes:
The Republic
Being drunk
Misc. info:
RP Sample:You know me, but I’m working on a new standard sample if you want to wait for that.
