Al-Zahir nodded.
"Yes, let's.", he said as they arrived on the dance floor, the band was nearly ready. With strong, but old hands, he moved themselves into the position, an appropriate distance between them, looking into her eyes. "If I know my nephew right, he has a plan. An awfully flawed plan, but a plan nonetheless."
He smiled.
"Gods, I was once like that as well.", he added.
And then, the music started, an old song sung by Elle Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong in the original, April in Paris, more slow Blues then Jazz, but still a beautiful song. Armstrong's parts were sung by the conductor, who had a surprisingly deep baritone.
Looking around at the other couples, one could see Tarek and Amina dancing close together, with the Princess slowly loosing her nervousness, enjoying the dance. Mahmut and Fadia danced a bit closer then his Uncle and her big sister, but still appropriate amongst close friends.
Captain Jamkiya and Gisella danced close together, the man showing her a few tricks for Blues dances as they went along, smiling at her.
