Whether it's backed by gold or other precious metals, a fiat currency, or a common currency between neighbouring countries, there is no denying its utmost importance to commerce and trade. This thread will serve as a database for the many currencies used throughout the multiverse.

Current Exchange Rate with USD/NSD: As of 22 February 2025, 1 GDY is equal to US$1.92.
Other Information: Despite the replacement of the Gandoorese pound with the gdyn in 1779, the pound remained in common usage well into the 1820s, with some usage persisting into the 1830s and 1840s. This is the reason why the half cendyn coin continued to be minted until 1856, as the old pre-decimal penny was equal to ½ of a cendyn.

In 1910, the Gandoorese government passed a law declaring that all denominations of the gdyn discontinued prior to the 1904 establishment of the modern Democratic Republic were no longer considered legal tender and citizens would have until 1930 to transfer their pre-1904 coins and banknotes to post-1904 coins and banknotes. Because of this declaration, the following former denominations of the gdyn can still be used and accepted within Gandoor:

Bones are naturally different from the typical standards of national currency. What is beneficial about them, however, is the monumental worth for even a single Bone. Any teeth with cavities will be worth 20 US cents. Real silver or gold teeth will surely go much higher, possibly a minimum of 200 USD. Should teeth have been classified as actual Bones, they would have been Type B due to small size. Any Bone/tooth that has been implanted with silver, gold, or anything of high value will (slightly unofficially) be classified as Type S.

Other Information: Not necessary info but some history behind the currency. After the English-Ottoman Coin was starting to lose its value in the 1840s and wasn't representative of the country, Prime Minister Henry Bakersfield wanted to introduce a new currency. A referendum was held but no conclusion was made because the supporters and those against it were virtually even. He held a vote in parliament and it was passed but many people were still against it and thought the PM trusted politicians more than the people. This controversy led to the Currency Riots of 1844, which was stopped by a speech from Bakersfield explaining how the results are fair because the politicians serve the people.
