Welcome to the world of pokémon, and the Maderia Region!

The tropical region of Maderia has finally stepped into the modern world of pokémon battling. With the commencement of the new Maderia League, hopeful young trainers from across the region are hoping to claim lucrative title of Champion. You are one of the many that are about to take the first step of their journey today. You are about to begin the adventure of a lifetime, but you must ask yourself:

Welcome, one and all, the the new and improved Pokémon: Amber! You take the role of one of the trainers that are about to begin their pokémon journey in the newly formed Maderia League. You will begin with a single first-form pokémon in the metropolitan hub of Altorre City, where Professor Açaí, the region's leading pokémon researcher, is holding the commencement ceremony of the Maderia League, where all new trainers will receive some starting equipment as well as a starter pokémon if they do not have one already. Afterwards, eight new gym leaders and the Elite Four stand in your way of achieving the championship; however, not everyone shares your enthusiasm. Recent news tells of a group that wishes to dismantle the Maderia League and return the region to the way it was before, a group that has been named Team Shade. But don't let that get in your way! You're pokémon journey begins now!

• Although I'm open to suggestions and criticism, my word is final.
• The usual cardinal rules of NS; don't flame, godmod, etc.
• Remember that this is a pokémon roleplay. You know, that franchise meant for kids? Let's keep that in mind and keep things at a PG-13 level.
• No one-liners!
• Please try to maintain decent post quality and activity. If you're going to be inactive, please say so in the OOC or on the Discord. If you don't and you are inactive for more than a week, your character will be removed from the roster.
• Any IC information regarding your character should be kept in a single post so that it is easier to keep track of pokémon, moves, and items.
• You have to apply as an actual trainer, not just a pokémon.
• No canon characters are allowed.

Wild Battles
If you want to have a wild encounter, say so in an IC post (Ex: He saw a rustling in the grass/A figure approached him/etc.). You can also just ask for an encounter in the OOC, but in either case I will give you the encounter via TG. The outcome of the encounter will then be decided by TG before you make the full post about it. Don't ask for a specific encounter.

Shinies will appear in this rp, but will be extremely rare and decided by myself when I give the encounter.

NPC Battles
NPC battles will work in a similar way. You may ask for one in the OOC, but in most cases, an NPC trainer will appear to challenge your character. After the outcome of the battle is determined, you can write out the battle in the IC. There are, however, some NPCs that can only be controlled by me. They are:

• Gym Leaders
• Elite Four members
• Evil team members

Any battle involving these NPC's will be done as a collab with myself.

PC Battles
Any battle between player characters can be handled any way you like, but is recommended that it is done through a collab with the outcome already determined. That way, everyone gets their chance to win without a battle dragging on too far.

Moves and Evolutions
Things such as your pokémon learning a move and evolving are a part of what is discussed before a wild or NPC battle. If you want the new move or evolution to occur during a PC battle, just ask me first. In this rp, a pokémon can know up to six moves, but they will always start with a maximum of four.

Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves
If they make an appearance, they will be distributed by myself only.

Bio: Corvao was destined to become a powerful trainer since the day he was born. Both his father and grandfather before him were gym leaders, his father being none other than Ferris, the current gym leader of Altorre City. As a result, Corvao has had to live up to extremely high expectations his entire life, making him determined to not only match his father as a pokémon trainer, but to surpass him. Ferris taught him everything he knew about battling, and when his Aggron laid an egg, he gave the hatched Aron to Corvao as his very first pokémon. He has been training ever since to become the most powerful trainer in the region.
Personality: Corvao isn't the most generous of individuals. His wealthy upbringing and status as a gym leader's son made a bit of a superiority complex within him. By default, he sees himself as better than everyone else, but if you can "prove" yourself to him as a strong trainer, he might actually respect you. Just a little. Because he is always being compared to his father, Corvao wishes to one day surpass him, then go even higher; he has his sights set on the Maderia League.

The Maderia Region is a mostly tropical region, with only the southernmost portion of the region ever receiving snow in the winter months. It isn't rare, however, for there to be especially cold winters were one might see snow as far north as Garoma City. The region is divided into three climate zones: the hot and humid Selverde Rainforest in the north, the arid Maderia Highlands at the region's center, and the more temperate coast and south. The cities along the coast are the most populous and the most popular among tourists, but the more inland cities have seen a massive growth in population in recent years.

Novela Town is a small, quiet village deep in the Selverde Rainforest. It's only connection to civilization is a winding path through the jungle that leads to Selverde City.

Selverde City is a metropolis of polished skyscrapers surrounded by untarnished jungle. Many pokémon researchers have established their base of operations here, but very few have dared to go farther into the untamed rainforest, which is the home to many undiscovered pokémon. The only person who was crazy enough to go deeper into the Selverde Rainforest is Professor Guarana, the former leading professor and Professor Açai's mentor. He has a small laboratory in the far north of the region. Selverde City is the home to Liana, an amateur trainer who is just taking the mantle as gym leader. A clean, straightforward highway leads out of the rainforest and connects Selverde to the center of the Maderia region: Altorre City. A paved road branches off of the route which leads to Hevea farm: a pokémon ranch and rubber tree plantation.

Altorre City used to be just another patch of dry soil in the vast Maderian Highlands, but the creation of the Maderia League called for a central hub that would give trainers and other pokémon enthusiasts easy access to the rest of the region. Using similar cities from around the globe such as Castelia City and Lumiose City as a template, Altorre is a metropolis that is unmatched in all of the region. A massive road that cuts through the heart of the city is surrounded by monuments and landmarks on both sides, including the brand new city gym. The man that was put in charge of the gym is Ferris, one of the men who built the city from the ground up.

Jemoía Town is a ghost town. It had boomed when diamonds were first discovered in the mines, but those diamonds have long since run dry, and so has the town's residents. One of the few people still living in this deserted town is the former gym leader, Carbon.

Meiola Town was a once insignificant little village in the middle of nowhere. It gained attention during the creation of the Maderia League, when it became a midpoint between Altorre and the coast. To the east, two routes branch off that lead to two different cities along the coastline. The nearby waterfalls are a popular ecotourism attraction.

Nataluz City is renowned as being a center for the arts and music, and is the home to the best theaters in all of Maderia. It is also the home of the Battle Academy, where trainers can learn the finer aspects of pokémon battling and strategy. The current gym leader is Sofia, a student of the Battle Academy and a cunning strategist. The former gym leader, Nevasca, is now a member of the Maderia Elite Four.

Fortalore City is the fierce rival to Nataluz city. While Nataluzan trainers prioritize strategy, Fortalorean trainers value brute strength over everything else. This rivalry can be seen even between the gym leaders. Fortalore is home to the biggest open market in the region as well as the Battle Arena, where trainers can test the might of their teams. The ultimate test of strength in the city is none other than the gym leader, Cabral, a tough and ruthless veteran of the Maderian army.

Camadua City is one of the largest cities in the Maderia Region, but it did not receive its own gym with the creation of the League. Instead, the city's former gym leader, Adriana, became a member of the Elite Four. This city is divided in half by a steep cliff, with an elevator connecting the two halves. Camadua's beaches are among the most popular in the region, and a path along the beach that connects the city to Nataluz City is a popular route among bikers.

Velponte City is made up of many islands of varying sizes, all connected by a series of bridges. One long bridge is currently being built to connect this city to Festaía City. Taking a boat through the many waterways that snake through the city is a common mode of transportation. Velponte is also Maderia's most major port. The current gym leader is Ferdinand, a sailor and captain of his own vessel, the Tirtouga. The former gym leader, Gaian, is now a member of the Elite Four.

Fantano Town, for most people, is just a creepy little village that brave trainers have to pass through instead of taking Route 3. The town is located in the middle of a swamp of the same name, which many believe is the home of restless spirits that haunt unwary travelers at night. Apparently, this insignificant town once had its own gym leader.

Garoma City is the second biggest city in the region, second only to Altorre. It is also the industrial center of the region, home to the central pokéball and potion factories. The city has seen some better days, though. Once known for the light rain that commonly filled the city's skies, the sky is now filled with a constant cloud of smog. This sudden change occurred when the title of gym leader was passed from Caruncho, who is now a member of the Elite Four, to Cyan, a scientist and researcher who is always trying to create new and more effective medicines for pokémon.

Festaía City is, without a doubt, the most popular city in the entire region. Its pearly-white beaches are among the most popular in the world! It is also well known for its yearly festival that celebrates the bond between humans and pokémon. Festaía was originally planned to be the home of the Maderia League headquarters before Altorre was chosen, but the construction a stadium is currently underway to hold a pokémon world tournament. The current gym leader is Anjolina, a world-renowned model and star of the pokémon festival. The whereabouts of the former gym leader, Aurora, are mostly unknown.

Favela Town is a gloomy, melancholy place, despite being separated from Festaía City only by the small Mount Doçe. This town used to have a gym leader of its own, but no one really knows much of him. This leader, and his hometown, have faded into obscurity.

Patagol City will the last destination for many taking on the Maderia League. The only place to go from here is the Gargrande Falls and the Maderia League that lies beyond. This city is known for its night life, having many restaurants, clubs, and theaters. The current gym leader is Marina, the avant-garde leader of her band Blast-Burned.

Bio: Neither of Alexanders parents were trainers before him, though grandfather was one of the best in the Kanto Region. Unlike the both of them however, he never wanted that sort of life. Once, while traveling in the Forest alone he met a Teddiursa, it was the most fascinating creature he had ever seen. He never saw it again after that first encounter, but it sparked a love for Pokemon in him that he couldn't ignore. At the age of 16 he announced to his parents that he intended to set off from Nataluz City to compete in the new Maderia League. After weeks of begging and arguing they finally agreed to let him go, giving him some items and money. He made his way to Altorre City where a ceremony was being held. He's looking forwards to meeting his first pokemon.
Personality: Alexander is a hardworking kid, bold enough to convince his parents to let him become a trainer, and dilligent enough to reach Altorre City on time. He wants to win the League and form relationships with any Pokemon he captures along the way.

Personality: Tsunami's a tough pokemon and has been since her birth. If she can't match an opponents skill, she will try and win through sheer force of will rather than resign herself to defeat. Deep down she knows that she enjoys battling, though she tries not to relish in it. She is intent on getting stronger, quicker and better to prove herself to Alexander and her friends. She reasons that she needs to be strong to protect them, if she becomes weak then they could get hurt or stolen by horrible people like team shade. She doesn't attach easily to people, but when she does she makes for an amiable and loyal friend.

She's also a bit of a hopeless romantic, finding no luck in regards to romance or attraction. She's resigned that she'll probably never have a mate, which she accepts. She hates spicy food immensely, like her trainer. She's happiest in the water, where she can move and train easily. She hasn't thought of her future evolution since it doesn't pertain to her current situation. She has a certain dislike for firetypes, believing them to be overly stimulated and quick to use their flames. She also has a distrust for psychic types, and would rather trust a ghost type if given the choice between the two.

Bio: Adam grew up in Novela Town, along with his mother, Heather. His father, John, went off on a journey of his own when Adam was 7, and so far has not returned. 9 years later, Adam is ready to leave his home town and go out into the huge world and out into the unknown.
His grandfather was a renowned Trainer, sadly, he died while out doing what he loved best and with his Pokémon. It is unknown what became of his Pokémon, perhaps they still live out there, in the wilds, waiting to be found again.

Bio: Serana recently moved to Altorre City two years ago, her parents decided to move to the Maderia region for her father's job. She is originally from the Hoenn Region specifically from Lilycove City. Her father works as a lawyer in the city and was offered a job at a renowned firm in the city. Her mother was a trainer before her and Serana grew up on stories her mother told her of her travels. She couldn't wait to be old enough to go on an adventure of her own. At the age of 10 her parents bought her a pokemon egg for her birthday, she was ecstatic and couldn't wait to see what was inside. After what seemed like a very long time the egg hatched and out came a Munchlax. She was extremely excited when the egg hatched. Recently she heard there was going to be a ceremony for the new pokemon league, she asked her parents for their permission and they agreed. They both agreed it was going to be a fun experience.
Personality: Serana is loyal to her friends, she is generally a very happy person and hopes to win the league. She tends to ignore rude people as she believes there are better things to do than to waste energy on rude people. She is quick on her feet and is eager to meet new pokemon and people.

Also, the starters need to be first form, so Munch has to be a Munchlax. That's just to keep things somewhat fair so that someone can't stomp on all of the other trainers with an evolved pokemon.

Don't suppose i could increase my characters age to sixteen? I was going to do that originally but since the general rule of thumb in Pokemon was that new trainers were around 10 i reduced it down accordingly.
