England somehow wins this one... I wished Sweden would take it, but it didn't.

Yup.. for all the chances this should be 4-0..

This should be 6-0 for the love of God. Their finishing leaves much to be desired.

Also apparently the linesman needs his eyes checking. At least two off-sides missed or something.

Eh, if we go by absurdo-chances, I'd say 4-2. Sweden had its moments.

I mean there's no doubt England have been the better side throughout but.. they're frustrating in their hesitation in the final phase..

I'm not watching the game, and I will not watch it, but it seems England is still being the better side.

Getting past Russia/Croatia and whoever makes it through the other semi isn't a guaranteed thing.

This trophy won't go to England. It'll go to France.

The the recreational sphere intended to be controlled with the feet is returning to it's nation of origin. Hopefully Sterling plays better against Russia/Croatia if they start him.

3/4 so far

Now I only need Russia to win for 100 percent prediction on quarter finals

Uruguay over Portugal - I think Uruguay have a strong chance to take this with a better overall team
France over Argentina - given France finally step up and Messi doesn't have a blistering game
Brazil over Mexico - fair enough
Belgium over Japan - sure
Spain over Russia - yup
Croatia over Denmark - I quite like Croatia
Sweden over Switzerland - I suspect Sweden's long ball hoofing tactics will work
England over Colombia - eesh.. I just haven't seen Colombia play so merely out of patriotism I'll let this stand

Ok so I went 7 from 8 for the 4th round, with Spain as a fair miscall but that does change my quarters, which I predicted as..

Quarterfinals:
France over Uruguay - though could be an upset
Belgium over Brazil - I think Belgium could do this
Spain over Croatia - game of this round for me
England over Sweden - or Colombia depending..

I'll stick with France.. I'm thinking to twist with Belgium given their performance against Japan and Brazil's against Mexico but what the hell.. the way this WC has been going I might as well look at this as the major upset of the round. Then it's Russia not Spain.. so I'm going to go for Croatia because if Russia win again I think questions will be asked, I actually think it better for Russia to bravely go out in the quarters.. then I guess I have to stay with England over Sweden.

Then to semi's..

Well here I go into fantasy land to make up for last night's snooze fest..

Semifinals:
Belgium over France
England over Croatia

Yeah well.. it's fantasy land isn't it..

Third Place Playoff:
Spain over France

Final:
England vs. Belgium - two teams enter, one team leaves..

This could still stand and might be fitting given they both rested so many players in their final group game. I don't really care about third place playoff..

So far since my predictions before the 4th round I'm 10/11 only getting Spain-Russia wrong.. which fair enough.. if only I was a gambling person..

I think France just have the sheer talent to take this, i simply prefer a BEL-ENG final myself - my head says France my heart says one of Belgium or England..

..I just haven't seen Croatia play yet so they're a bit of a blind spot for me.

ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

I was never able to watch Croatia's more impressive games in the Group stage and only watched the Denmark-Croatia game. There they seemed a solid team, but certainly not the team that I had thought that they would be from seeing the group stage finals. With that, I am not entirely sure they are going to be able to beat Russia. Sure they probably got better talent, but I still feel like Russia has more left in them to keep playing, but its hard to tell.

France, I believe, outplayed Uruguay for 90 minutes, even while playing at a poor level by their standards. It certainly wasn't a complete 90 minutes straight, but they definitely had Uruguay's number. Watching Belgium vs. Brazil definitely made me respect Belgium a lot more. I feel like they really do have a real shot of victory against France and in the Final. That being said I still pick France to win. Russia beats Croatia, today though...
