A look at the Groups for AOCAF
Group A
The AOCAF organizing committee probably forgot to solicit host bids for the 56th AOCAF - or perhaps instead forgot that the 55th AOCAF competition actually took place - easy to be forgotten perhaps considering that somehow the competition was won by Chromatika - the very team that couldn't even beat Krytenia in the 52nd AOCAF final. Regardless, the AOCAF Cup was returning to the South Western corner of Atlantian Oceania and the ponies drew well and should have little trouble advancing from a group where their stiffest competition will be 17th rank Banija. Longtime AOCAF competitors Geisenfried seemed to get confused and forget that they aren't actually good enough to compete at the regional level of competition and decided to try to send a team once again before they dropped into the realm of the unranked. The move will allow the angry friers to maintain their ranking but that will be all they can accomplish as Banija will easily join the hosts en route to the Round of 16.
Predict: Equestrian States, Banija
Group B
Group B has all the makings of offering the most competitive fixture lineup of the entire group stage as the two highest ranked nations in the Group are an unproven and unheralded who have never cracked the medal positions at an AOCAF competition while on the outside looking in is Ko-oren - the AOCAF 50 runner-up and two-time podium finishers coming in as the groups third seed and looking to upset one of Tropicorp or the Sultanate of Oontaz to sneak into the knockout rounds. While Oontaz may be the nation closest in the dragonflies crosshairs, Tropicorp are an unpredictable experiment that could always go wrong and open the door for a nation such as Ko-oren to sneak past.
Predict: Tropicorp, Ko-oren
Group C
Vilita & Turori's Eel-Cat Things find themselves in Group C along with Mriin, Saint Emelie and South Toronto. There isn't much expected from the Saint Emelie side and many predict they will exit from their first AOCAF competition without a point to show for their efforts which would reduce Group C to a three team shootout for two places. While the South Torontons have proven they can compete on the interenational stage, perhaps taking points from both Mriin and Vilita & Turori would be asking a little too much for the Nation in their first ever appearance in the multiverses oldest regional competition - perhaps snatching a draw but not the sequence of victories they would need to move on.
Predict: Vilita & Turori, Mriin
Group D
While each AOCAF group offers its own unique dynamic, no group offers quite as juicy of an individual match fixture as Group D where #2 ranked Cosumar will square off against #8 Qasden. Qasden's Qats stunned regional footsport fanatics last go round in the Equestrian States as they knocked out the then-#2 ranked Eel-Cat Things from the competition in the Round of 16. Now they will be looking to do the same to now #2 ranked Cosumar, the champions of AOCAF LIVe. The Qats will need to watch their back, however. Sitting just beyond their reach will be the upstart competitors Siovanija and Teusland ready to pounce if either of the top two slip up. With tough ranked opposition in #2 Cosumar and then a heated colonial matchup against Novo Calania on the cards, it could be Qasden who slip up and fall victim to the newcomers in Group D
Predict: Cosumar, Siovanija & Teusland
