Bio:
There had always been a vibrancy to Tanzanite Davidson's life. Ever since he was born to Robert and Georgiana Davidson, his life had been filled with abundance and vibrancy. In their small apartment on the outskirts of Seattle, Tanzanite was showered with love and affection during his developing years. He remained the only child of the Davidsons, and while he was sometimes lonely, his formative years were filled with warm fireplaces, hearty food, and brilliant colors. It was the latter that remained with Tanzan. From as far back as he could remember, every Friday, the Davidsons would sit on their porch and watch the night sky roll over dusk like an unfurled map.
And as Tanzan grew, art became his passion. He saw art in every little thing, art in architecture and the cosmos alike. Art was creation and more than anything Tanzan wanted to bring something new into this world, something that would make young and old alike laugh and cry and smile. And so, he began to paint and draw. At first, it was scrawled crayon drawings of dinosaurs and of the Davidson family, at which his parents and relatives would coo at in the way parents do and hang it up with magnets on the fridge. Then it was colored pencil sketches of the sky and the world, and watercolors of lakes, and then a mural of the night sky. He heard talk of commissions and art competitions and future, things he couldn't comprehend? Didn't they understand that this wasn't supposed to be another job? That art wasn't supposed to be the sort of thing that you work in a tiny cubicle from 8 to 5 before braving the evening traffic and eating McDonald's in front of the TV? As more and more talk of his "talent" and "potential" grew when distant relatives came over, Tanzan grew more and more agitated and frustrated, until one night, he snuck out of his room into the city, creating the first public art of his life: a graffiti mural. He himself wasn't really sure what it all meant at the end of it, he had simply taken 5 sweeping brushstrokes on the side of a skyscraper. But people saw it as something, as a symbol, and as possible interpretations were circulated, it became local news. And so Tanzan went out again, creating the same pattern or symbol or whatever it was on another skyscraper. He was selective about the venues for his art, and as million-dollar companies realized they were the target of Brushstroke's 'graffiti' in their words, the danger, and thus, the thrill grew.
But it wasn't to last. One night his parents caught him sneaking out and accused him with their suspicions. Tanzan had been slacking off chores, forgetting to do his homework and his grades had been slipping. To his shock, his mother thought he had superpowers, while his father thought that he had joined a gang. They were both wrong, and Tanzan explained so, revealing that he was Brushstroke, but that he didn't have superpowers (yet). His parents agreed to keep his secret, but only if Brushstroke had an early retirement. And so Tanzan returned back to school work and monotony. He did, however, find joy in the traveling that the Davidsons did. However, on a visit to California, Tanzan was wandering around a museum when a fight between two superhumans he had never heard of broke out. The seventeen-year-old got caught in the middle of them accidentally, and due to a blow to the head, was knocked unconscious and when he woke up in the hospital, he couldn't remember who or where he was. Some strangers were in front of his face begging for him to wake up. Why did they seem so familiar? And why had one of them cried when he asked them who they were? They were strangers, right? A nurse ushered them away for the moment, and suddenly he felt lonely. For hours he struggled to recall his life, and his story, but as the day slipped away into the night, he was left as unmoored as those ships that could not see the radiance of the blue lighthouse he had spotted far away.. And then, as he gazed into the night sky, that blue, no, indigo light seemed to draw closer and closer to him until he saw a crystal break through the window and hang in the air above him, seeming to judge him. Finding him worthy, it swooped down to his open right palm, throbbing. For some reason, Tanzan reached out to it, or at least tried to, before he screamed in pain as the crystal burrowed into his palm. And as he faded away into unconsciousness, he heard a deep, considering voice say:
Powers:
- Warden Physiology: As a Rainbow Warden, Tanzan shares a bonded existence to one of the colors of the universe, Indigo, which represents Memory. As a result, he has acquired powers that are so related to memory. Rainbow Wardens also gain the ability to fly and survive in space and do not require food or other forms of sustenance. His physical capabilities have also increased slightly.
- Adoptive Muscle Memory: Tanzan can replicate any movement he has seen or done, whether it is in movies or in real life, allowing him to pull off some pretty cool moves or literally retrace his steps. However, if his body is not conditioned properly, he won’t be able to replicate it. Also, this does not apply to flight.
- Memory Manipulation (Projection, Sharing, Absorption, and Suppression): Tanzan can manipulate both his own and other's memories. Firstly, he can project his own memories to someone else’s mind. He can also copy the memories of others and implant them into, or absorb them, and he won’t forget them, no matter what, because he remembers everything. Absorbing memories, if he’s not careful, can lead to an overload of memories, and that can mix with some of his own memories, making him unsure of whether all of his memories are true or not. He can also create fake memories and implant them into another person, however, the transition is not perfect, and if something is off, the recipient will be able to tell that it is fake. Tanzan can also suppress the memories of other people, but he can’t erase them.
- Object Creation: Tanzan has the ability to produce nonliving objects from different exposed parts of his body.
Limitations:
- Adoptive Muscle Memory: Why this power has a lot of potential, Tanzan's own human limitations and bodily conditioning limits him. If he starts trying to pull out some crazy martial arts skills without having the stamina and the experience to pull them off, he will fail.
- Memory Manipulation: His abilities to manipulate memories have express limits. First of all, his memories can only be projected to one person at a time. His ability to read and copy the memories of others can be dangerous, because similar memories may overlap with his own and cause him to lose a sense of himself and whether his own memories are true or not. His ability to project false memories to another person's mind can be resisted and is not flawless, and upon careful examination, can be revealed to be false.
- Object Creation: All the objects that Tanzan creates must be nonliving, and must be projected through an exposed part of his body. Also, because of the laws of physics, he cannot create these objects out of thin air. Thus, they are produced through the lipids within his body once they are broken down. That requires him to eat a lot in order to create multiple objects. Finally, as all of his powers are linked to memory, so is this power. Tanzan needs to remember the exact molecular structure of the object he wishes to create.
- Rainbow Wardens: All new Rainbow Wardens are watched carefully, and there are mechanisms known to senior RWs to lock Tanzan's powers, should he go rogue.
Weaknesses:
- Lack of Fighting Ability: Tanzan doesn't know how to fight, like at all.
- Memory Dependence: All of Tanzan's powers depend on his memory in some way, and all of his powers require careful study, practice and time to develop. When caught by surprise, Tanzan has little in his arsenal to not lose. As for his adoptive muscle memory, while he will be able to eventually replicate fighting moves, he can't be as good as the original source, in the end, he's only copying things.
