Finally, the Kaizer had recovered from his sickness in Zudafrika. I think I'll skip next year's big hunt... was the mental note Luka made to himself. He had a little more rehabilitative therapy to go through before his life would return fully to normal. His personal doctor had noticed the Kaizer developed a sort of depression, believing that the young Kaizer perhaps "was upset by the fact that he had more company in foreign diplomats and royalty than in his own family".

Luka was a difficult man. He was very noncompliant with his physicians, and insisted on undergoing more rigorous rehabilitation when his doctors considered him to not be ready yet. But they could not say no to their Emperor, and they humored him. Instead of carefully walking with a rail, Luka would swiftly hobble around the building on his cane. Simple leg stretches were rather quickly replaced with light exercise. This did not particularly help his condition to move any faster and only brought him great pain. Nevertheless, he eventually recovered. His doctors recommended that he held onto the cane for just a while longer, but the Kaizer felt that he no longer needed it. His doctors eventually bargained that he could replace it with a sort of scepter. So, the Kaizer could often seen be taking walks around his palace courtyard and around the local area, clutching a scepter but not quite using it.

During his stay in the hospital in Zudafrika, the depressed Kaiser had developed an affinity for simpler military uniforms, and could occasionally be seen lounging in his courtyard dressed as if he was a 5-star general as opposed to an Emperor. The Kaizer was aware he needed to dress with splendor and would not dress like this for diplomatic events, but would eventually have himself a fancy military outfit tailored to his desires.

"(What's the matter, Luka?)" asked Marie in German, a sort of lingua franca in Letheny, with shaky fluency in the Austrian dialect.

The Kaizer kneeled on the ground, staring into the water fountain with dejection. "(...Ah...it's nothing, Princess.)" replied Luka in fluent standard German.

"(I assume that actually means 'I don't know how to say or explain it'.)"

"(Ach...I'll bite. I'm just remembering my father...)"

"(Oh, King Ran.)" were the only words Marie was able to compose. She kneeled down next to Luka and placed a hand on his shoulder.

Life Before the Fardhine Insurgency, Part I

15-year-old Cory Fang-Buenavides of Oragrad City was finally free from school. Her brown eyes glistened despite gloomy skies, through the street-lights of mid-October. It was a fairly chill day at P.S 991. Her High School electives demanded from her a later dismissal schedule, but she was content with that. She'd always wanted to pursue the Fine Arts, and the year was going well for her. She walked home to her flat, a fifteen-minute walk away from school. Every block had a school, a store, and some flats; neatly compartmentalized by the State for convenience. If she so chose, she could visit the Tondo Art Museum by cheap, MagLev train and be home by dinner. The South looked windy, though, and she didn't want to risk getting wet.

Speaking of the Fine Arts, a parade celebrating the October Revolution blasted propaganda on full-volume across the street. There were some Red Guard Militiamen, People's Police, and Armed Forces personnel enjoying the festivities by waving small and large flags of their home-states.

Her 20-year-old Holotablet vibrated, and she felt it from her bag. Bringing it out, she realized it was a text message. A text from her Assigned Husband. His picture on her phone was that of a handsome, young man with fit features. Black strands of hair constituted a suave, irresistible styling.

Apparently, her man was bringing home dinner tonight. She was slightly disappointed she wouldn't be able to cook, but relieved that she could take the rest of the day off.

Their apartment was nothing extravagant. It was the same flat assigned to them when they were first paired together by the Bureau.

The mailbox was disturbed. She opened it to check the contents. A letter rested there.

She'd been accepted to the Eastern Visayas University of Fine Arts. An acceleration from high school to college was common, but to study at such an intelligentsia-inhabited school was a miracle. She rang the doorbell.

Her man, welcoming her with open arms, embraced her skinny body with haste. They really were in love by now. A love conjugal to the State. He gave her a kiss on the forehead, and they proceeded to the dining room, where they'd watch Season 19 of Ang Probinsyano while eating cheap steak from Kanto Freestyle.

"It's a good day to be Asian", she thought to herself.

SHS, Ateneo de Manila University
A group of students, in their khaki pants and blue polos wave around Fardhine flags. Including the traditional blue, red, white and yellow Florentine Flag and Juanita's red, white and black flag. With speakers on full volume, Fardhine Imperial Music plays along with anti-communist songs of old.

"Down with the communist scum!" Shouts through a loudspeaker. A bit short and skinny, with a small face and a small nose. "Long live the Empire! Out with you, ungodly lowborn!"

"Family, work and fatherland!" Chants another student. He is tall and tan, and has built a body from Arnis. "Brothers and Sisters! I am Ivan Matanda, a descendant of the old kings; let us not let the red menace erase our traditions! Rise up for the fatherland!"

A crowd had gathered, which included a few Jesuit priests, students and teachers. Most of the ABM and the GA students had joined the activists, while half of the HUMSS students were engaged in hostile debate against other HUMSS students.

On the other side of the wall...

The People's Peacekeeping Cadre, off-the-record, met up with University students that afternoon, rather suddenly, to discuss combining the Student Red Guard organizations with Federal authorities in order to begin a theoretical cultural revolution on the streets of Katipunan Avenue.

"Paslangin n'yo 'yang mga konyong 'yan."

The clandestine meeting oversaw the hiding of Communist insurgents within Fardhine universities in order to provoke agitation. Several Cadre officers would mask themselves in civilian attire to monitor the situation, and participate in the riot that was to come...

In the meantime, classes were called off to make way for a counter-protest against Fardhine Nationalists; featuring the 98th Frontier Army marching down the border, almost tauntingly. Military-grade speakers clamoured to produce anti-Fardhine Socialist hymns fashioned in the style of the old Katipunan. The Communists saw the Fardhinos as bureaucrats, and modern-day Spanish aristocrats- whilst seeing themselves as a sort of neo-Katipunan movement.

Life Before the Fardhine Insurgency, Part II

Her eyes were perfect- her hair was flawless. City 112 would pause, and the Sakura, blooming, were carried away by her feminine fragrance.

But I didn't love her.


That's what the Bureau told me.


I don't.

My trodding's call was faint, devoured by the cement below. The leather hit those weary slabs again and again, to the orchestra of identical, perfect beings; going about their everyday life. To the symphony of the five-minute-train, the mist danced around me. Many faces, all exhausted, passed by me like a spectre. I sat by the bench.

It felt so surreal. Back when the sun had not hid behind the pastures, as it was now, the Happiness Directors confronted me, and I was pulled out of my daily classes. They told me hurtful things. They told me that the euphoria was meaningless, that she wasn't- she didn't, she would never fill my soul.

I just have to wonder sometimes. What price does happiness entail?

I lived in New York when I was younger, when Broadway was my calling, and the Party wanted to broaden my horizons. The Americans laugh, and they cry, and they make mistakes. They indulge their desires so steadfast, like dogs. They hurt themselves and they move on. They never learn, but they always seem so.. blissful about it. Their love is the love of the masochist- never sated, never resting. They seek self-actualization through the affirmation of others.

I want to become learned. I know I want to, and I try. Citizen Advancement turned me down for being too emotional. The Youth League hated my hunger for curiosity. My academics are exceptional, but I'm indecisive, indifferent, and just too plain to be accepted by anyone- not even myself. I keep thinking just maybe her affection will save me from my anxiety but...


Huh. Maybe I've become an American myself.

Steppe Khanate
It was Election Season. The Khanate was one of the few (semi) democracies in the Jupiter Pact. Their reason for joining the JP was irrelevant to this though, as the JP allowed all monarchies. The Steppese government worked somewhat weirdly, in which there were 2 branches, the Crown and the Finish Council (Which functioned as a parliament) Each Administrative Division was to elect 2 Council Reps, who wrote and proposed laws, which MUST be approved by the Khan to pass. However, the laws would be then executed by the Council, meaning that the Steppese government was a semi-constitutional monarchy. Elections happened once every 3 years.

Today was the day people would flock to voting booths and elect Council Reps. As the results came in, it was clear that this term’s council extremely varied, with almost a 50-50 split from different parties. Often this lead to one of 2 things: Bickering and arguing so that nothing productive happens, or a blend of opinions getting things done as fast as possible. Everyone hoped for the latter…

SOMEONE MADE A GOD-AWFUL ERO FANFICTION ABOUT EXODIAN POLITICS
The video's title read, with a thumbnail depicting a facepalm, a suggestive scene torn from a romantic comedy, and the Exodian flag.

"Hello, everyone. So, THIS happened last night, and for some apparent reason, it's detonated on Reddit and now it's in my Twitter feed." a young man with a slight British accent explained, as muted gameplay of the popular indie FPS Strikeforce: Champions RIsing happened in the background. A pop-up of GeneralDankite's Twitter popped up with the offending fanfiction.
The young man, whose real name was Baker Middleton, living a decent life in Tolsteid, Exodia, and at the age of 16, had seen quite a bit, but nothing could compare to this.

"Oh Jesus.... Let's start, ladies and gentlemen. Let's jump right into this. Be warned, this is not something you want to show kids under the age of fourteen- mostly because it seems to be written by some 14-year-old thirsty female individual."

He cleared his throat and began to speak, as the wall of NSFW text appeared on screen.
"Shang rushed into Shrilles- I'm betting they're not actually from Exodia, because they clearly spelled Elizabeth Shirelle's name wrong."
Baker audibly hyperventilated. "Oh no. You all... y'all brace yourselves, chaps...." He continued, behind the screen closing his eyes and preparing himself mentally.

"There. I fixed the grammar and the spelling for you through my commentary. That's English." Middleton remarked, as he kept going.

"I'm just gonna skip this part. They're definitely not Exodian, 'cause it looks like they've literally never seen ol' Guvna Shang the Gang before. Sucker looks like Asian Putin some twenty years younger or some shit."

The fanfiction appeared again on screen, as he resumed.
"'Oh, Shang, let me comfort you.' She pressed a button and called the entire government, they knew what they were here for. They all jumped-"
"OH GOD!"

Baker turned on his facecam, showing him almost ready to claw his eyes out.
"Uhhhh.... Now, I've just passed legal drinking age here in Exodia... Hey! Hey Billy! Could you fish out some of that hard lemonade you bought earlier? I really need a drink." He called down to his roommate. A husky voice with an American accent echoed back.
"You... you readin' the fanfiction, bro?"
"Yeah." Baker replied.
A few chuckles came from downstairs. "I sent that to you."

"YOU SICK BASTARD!" Middleton yelled. "THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?" "You were... You were VbOi158?"

"Yep." was Billy's reply.

"God, I hate you." Baker responded.

Billy came into the recording room, holding a bottle of hard soda. "You still want this?"
"Sure, mate." Baker's expression changed into one of weakened incredulosity, as he gratefully accepted the bottle. "Thanks."

As Billy went back downstairs, Baker resumed. "Skipping that part."
"Before they could get to the 'good stuff,' they were interrupted by someone kicking down the door. It was Shang's husbando Alfred from Xandaria holding-" Baker screamed. "NO!"

"You reach the part with that tinpot dictator?" Billy called from downstairs.
"I fucking hate you, mate. Don't say that at all. Don't." Baker said, taking a hard sip of the soda before returning to the camera.

"I'm not reading this any further, ladies and gents. I hope you all have a good day, or good night, wherever you are. Please like, share my channel, and subscribe for more."

A piano-based outro theme played, as the screen dissolved into annotations for other videos.

Crassus was sipping coffee and listening to Prussian Military Marches when he noticed a new suggested video, something about a fanfic. He shrugged and clicked on it.
"So 'GeneralDankite', eh...WAIT WHAT THE FUCK"
He spat out his coffee and clicked on the link to the original, and began reading.
"Oh god why....."
His sister, Maria, popped her head in on her way to the firing range for the guards, her STG44 slung over her back.
"Crassus, the fuck is going on."
He gestured to the screen, and she came over and began reading.
"...no."
She unslung her STG44 and began firing at the laptop. When it was reduced to metal scrap she stormed off, shouting expletives in German and Polish.
Crassus turned on his second laptop and began typing out a letter to Shang and Elizabeth.

There was silence for a few seconds, before Shirelle broke it all.

For the first time in a long time Lucky Wells had some down time. Much needed down time as the last month was him having to deal with scandal after scandal. He went on Reddit checking r/LuckySells his personal faviorite subreddit as it was filled with fans from all over his nation.

It looked like the normal posts until he came upon a link about some fanfic that had to do with Shang. He decided to click it seeing as it couldn't possibly be worse than anything he had seen before

Lucky closed his laptop. He had seen enough internet for today. "Hey Caren, you know that one place you've wanted to go to?" "You mean the one in Exodia?" "Yeah we're going next week. I have to say some things to Shang. I have to apologize on the country's behalf."

Across hills and mountains, through the fog and wind; cold air blows from the sea upon the green. The sky is blue as the morning sun rises above the clouds. Even the moon can be seen this morning.

Abandoned upon the mountain hill, it sat in stone unmoving without sound. Broken down houses of stone surrounded the stone triangle on the hill, likely to be hundreds of years old; and upon the hilltop, sat the Idjang; an old Ivatan Mountain Fortress, long abandoned. Behind it's walls of stone was an old complex of houses, long abandoned by their kings.

Footsteps. And a shadow. One moves among the ruins. Inside the complex does he, with a vakul made of abaca fiber protecting his head. His white uniform, dirtied and grayed by the elements; as he walked with his cane with a golden head. His face was a reddish tan, as his gray crew cut had grown long over months. He had a sharp nose, a somewhat round face and dazed brown eyes. He had many wrinkles on his old face and was rather tall with a good build.

He approaches the entrance of the Fortress, and climbs down the ladder. He walks among the ruins as he approaches the blue running through the land, a stream going down the hill. He bends his knees and places his cane aside, taking some water into his hand and drinking it; then he splashed water onto his face, washing it. He looked upon his reflection, noting that a beard had been growing for a while now.

He takes his cane and gets up, walking past the stream; as his bare feet made their way through the rocks. He takes the hilt of his cane, and pulls; revealing a sword underneath. He walks, into the shadows of the forest.

He, for his age, was quite strong. He took a branch from a tree, and with rope he had brought; tied the pig to it, as he would bring his would-be breakfast back to the Idjang.

He took the pig up to the citadel, making sure that no predator will follow and reach him. He gathers some sticks, and lights a fire. He cuts the meat, and with gathered eggs and harvested rice; is able to make bacon and eggs.
