All Arstotzkan men must serve at least 2 years in the military or 5 years as a border guard. Women, the terminally ill, people with special needs, and those who have been selected in the monthly labor lotteries are exempt from serving.

National Service (Service Nationale) is a mandatory program for able-bodied males and females aged 18-25. After graduating from high school, technical school or college, individuals must take part in the program. Generally this process is done between graduation of high school and attending advanced education, but varies among individuals.

For individuals with serious mental / physical disease or defect, the national service requirement is waived. Oftentimes only a doctor's memorandum or medical record is needed to grant the exemption.

For those that outright refuse national service, a hefty ƒ40,000 fine and a 24-month term in prison is the penalty. This is mainly a symbolic deterrent and rarely, if ever, needed or enforced.

Otherwise, a mental and physical fitness test is administered for able-bodied individuals. Their scores are logged and used to determine which service they would be most suited to.

Individuals are mandated to spend 18 months (including training) in one of the following services. They must rank their choices according to preference, and this is taken into consideration, but ultimately their physical and mental test scores (and the manpower needs of the services) dictate whether or not they get their top choices. The vast majority serve in the National Guard, but many others find places in the other services:

  • Garde Nationale (National Guard) - To serve as a national guardsman.
  • Garde-Frontière Fédéral (Federal Border Guard) - To serve as a border guardsman.
  • Service des Douanes Fédéral (Federal Customs Service) - To serve as a customs officer / assistant.
  • Escadron Républicaine de Sécurité (Republican Security Squadron) - To serve in the mobile gendarmerie -- anti-terrorism / riot police.
  • Garde Champêtre (Rural Guard) - To serve as a park ranger / game warden.
For conscientious objectors, or those with an aversion to violence, carrying weapons, or participating in law enforcement / military duties, the following services are also available:

  • Croix Rouge (Red Cross) - Serving as a medic / nurse / assistant.
  • Défense Civile (Civil Defense) - Aiding individuals in case of war, emergency or disaster.
National Service is an important part of every citizen's duty. It allows people to experience a new side of life, learn valuable skills, visit other parts of the country and meet new people while strengthening patriotism and dedication to their homeland.

The moment you are born, you're in the military. Everyone is military as their side job.
The only way out is through death. Although death is only a short break since your corpse will get brought back to life via science so you can serve some more.

There is currently no conscription policy in Fostoria because the volunteers provide enough manpower to maintain a massive military.

Aldina maintains universal and automatic male conscription even during peacetime; all male citizens from the age of 17 (who are not disqualified from military service for other reasons) are required to complete a minimum of 3 years of active military service, followed by another 5 years in the Imperial Army Reserves.

1. Conscription currently exists in the Cosparian Armed Forces, and is commonly referred to as "the draft". It is mandatory for males between the ages of 18 and 30, and is optional for females of the same age group; male draftees are required to attend 15 weeks of basic training shortly after turning 18, or graduating from high school (whichever is later), though exceptions are made for those seeking higher education. Mandatory service is for a term of 4 years, split up between 1.5 of active-duty, and 2.5 in the reserves. Those with severe physical or mental disabilities are exempt from service; those who object, for personal or religious reasons, to violence or the use of weapons will be placed in a suitable non-combat specialty.

While conscription technically does exist, the penalties for refusing service is rarely enforced; volunteers and career soldiers make up a sizeable number of CAF servicemembers, so drafted individuals who say "no" at the recruiter's office are simply written off and cited with a "lack of available billets".

2. I have a hard time taking proponents of the "social contract" theory seriously if they flat-out ignore conscription.

1. Military service of 6 months is mandatory. When one reaches the age of 17, a citizen may choose at what age they will oblige themselves to serve (between the ages of 18-28). However, because of attacks coming at any time and the safety of the nation depends on rapid response, immediate mobilization of the old, weak, and young can occur at anytime to provide supply assistance, or bolster a defense if it becomes desperate.

2. I respect anybody who has been drafted, gone to war, and soldiered through it when it was far from their desires to do so. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

All people go through a year of mandatory military and "public service" training as an extension of highschool from 18-19. People are taught basic medicine, survival skills, how to do their taxes, cook food, stay physically fit and other such things, and also taught how to defend themselves and if need be, the country. There is a surplus of EMT's and nurses as a result of this training, in addition to other jobs needed for public service such as garbage men and the like. The idea is not just to prepare them for a military invasion and teach them tactics, or even self defense, but really it focuses on "life skills" and appreciation of hard work and society, so people from all backgrounds understand what hard labor is like and how to take care of themselves. It's designed to teach them how to fight as well as "prepare them for the real world", and give them appreciation for their living conditions, like where does food come from, how does one build a house etc.

It also assesses their military capabilities, so if one needed to deploy the entire country for war, they know who to stick in infantry, who to be tank crews, who to be auxillary staff and who to work in factories and so on. But it cuts down on obesity and instills discipline in to people so it also saves the government a lot of money in healthcare and other things. Youth crime is basically unknown due to the would-be gang members becoming militia men instead. The system is modeled off of Switzerland, but in practice is more like Israel. The biggest threat to the country is terrorism, from the remnant communist states that were present in their civil war.

Mandatory conscription is administered by the Department of Justice, Department of Welfare, Department of Education and Culture, Department of Interior and the Department of Health, meaning no military training. There are 3 courses to choose from, with an additional fourth choice that is optional and administered by the Armed Forces. They are usually enforced in the ages 18-22, but people with disabilities and people who have extreme phobias are allowed to refuse.

• Basic Course
- Focuses on law knowledge, basic life and survival skills, emergency and first-aid training and stresses healthcare importance
• Parenting and Adoption Course
- Aside from including the Basic Course, it stresses out life of a child and youth-related topics
• Pre-Criminology Course
- Aside from including the Basic Course, it stresses out law knowledge, usage of weapons, investigative skills and nationalism
- Once a woman chose this, they also stress women and youth development and crimes
♦ Pre-Military Course
- Aside from including both the Basic Course and the Pre-Criminology Course, they also teaches the use of several military vehicles and spying abilities

Hazukenia has an enforced conscription period for 5 years, usually from the age of 17. Most secondary school graduates are 17 by the time they receive their certificates. The only education, apart from military training, is the country's only university: Hazu University. It's illegal to have negative sentiments publicly displayed as it is considered Anti-Hazuken.

We do have conscription (known as national service) here, with all higher-caste males (whites, mixeds and coloureds) being required to serve their one year term no later than their 31st birthday. There are different levels of national service, ranging from active military service to office jobs in the government bureaucracy. Lower-caste males and all females are exempt from national service.

In my personal opinion I'm against conscription.

Semara mandates six-month conscription (in Gegan: miw'ādiri) for all able-bodied male and females. However, these conscripts do not actually fulfill military roles unless in the case of emergency, and receive general war and armament training. After the programme, they may choose to join the armed forces or they may continue with education/civilian life. Conscription into the armed forces is mandatory in times of crisis and war.

The Empire prides itself on a professional solely volunteer army and has possessed one since 1900, when we abolished conscription. We figured rather plainly, if you need to force people to fight for your ideas, maybe they aren't worth fighting for.

When conscription was in force, it was in the form of levies, risen by the nobles to form the grand army of the Empire, which up until that point had fought in all our wars, back into the third age of the world.

Yes, we have conscription. No, it is not because we cannot find sufficient volunteers. We do not expect foreign barbarians to grasp the purpose. Conscripts are required to serve three years.

No exceptions are granted on grounds of gender, race, creed, or anything other than completely debilitating mental or physical conditions, and even this is rare. Deliberately injuring yourself to keep from having to fulfill your service obligations is a serious offense.

Yep. Mandatory Citizen Advancement Training (CAT) during Grade 11 and 12. They may choose to abstain afterwards, or pursue a miltary career in College. They may have also chosen to join earlier, as CAT is available from Grade 9 and 10. Earlier participants generally become officers when they graduate from Junior High School. Military service is mandatory for Asian males between the ages of 18 and 35. Korean military service ranges from 21 to 24 months depending on the branch. Army, Marines, and conscripted policemen serve 21 months, Navy serves 23 months, and Air Force serves 24 months. Public service workers serve from 24 to 36 months.

Conscription starts at age sixteen, lasts for a period of two years and is mandatory for able bodied people . Conscientious objectors are imprisoned for that two year period and fined 200Ls. It consists of both the military aspect such as physical training, patrols and orienteering, as well as continuing post-secondary education. It is a positive force making the next generation cohesive, and instilling values such as loyalty, respect, teamwork and sacrifice for the freedoms their country has to offer. There is also the benefit of tackling childhood obesity with the physical training aspect.

Conscription is banned in independent Brystolville, as it is an abhorrent violation of human rights. Brystolville is a non-imperialist and non-aligned country with a peaceful foreign and domestic policy, and as such has no need to enslave its young people and send them to be killed overseas.

Conscription did exist when Brystolville was a British dominion, and thousands of young Brystolians were forced to die for British imperialism during the World Wars and other conflicts. Since independence, Parliament has demanded that the United Kingdom pay reparations to the families of Brystolians killed fighting for empire.

1) The armed forces are a volunteer force. Most personel is career personel. There is (in theory) selective conscription males and females are called at 18 to serve from 9 to 15 months. Normally there enough volunteers recruits to keep peacetime forces and reserves. Without need of a draft. Since the 90s there have been no drafts.

2) military service is well regarded opinions are in general positive.

═───╡❖╞────────═ Conscription in the Freehold ═────────╡❖╞───═

The law of the Freehold mandates that all adult males serve two years national service in the Freehold Defence Forces.

This typically starts therefore at age sixteen, though those involved in the primary male youth programme of the Freehold may postpone until age eighteen. A reduction to one year's service is also permitted for those engaged in higher academic studies.

Females are not included in this draft, nor are non-citizens. Non-citizens can only voluntarily enlist in provincial auxiliary forces, not the primary defence forces, whilst women are not permitted any military entry at all.

This law is in place to ensure that in times of dire crisis, when almost every man in the Freehold must be called upon to defend their homeland, they have a basic level of competency. Actual fighting is typically handled by the professional voluntary military forces. Further voluntary survive for five years makes one eligible to run for political office, amongst other requirements, and to enlist in reserves or to become a professional soldier is regarded as an honourable action.

A large pool of recruits is kept available through pro-natal policies such as a prohibition of abortion in most cases, newlywed loans with reductions on principle with childbirth, and honours awarded for multiple successful births.

The general public attitude amongst citizens to the policy is supportive. There is little in the way of a push to end military service, though some are in favour of a reduction all-round to one year. Contrarily, the rising Selian and citizen population has led to calls for a sustainable extension to three years. Neither motion has gathered much support, as most of the Senate and populace seems content with the status quo.

1. There's no official conscription process in Kohr, but as the government's power is basically unlimited, in theory it can make any of its citizens join the military if it ever has to.
2. I strongly oppose conscription. If a country has difficulty getting its citizens to fight in a war, then there is a problem with the country's involvement in that war.

Conscription has been suspended indefinately since 2008. However when it was in effect, all males and all females were conscripted at age 21, and were required to serve three years in the military. The conscription policy was generally viewed favorable way, yet not many were upset by the suspension.

All member states of the confederation must have military conscription in place so that their respective military forces can provide a steady number of reinforcements to support the much-larger Zhouranese People's Army. Essentially the military of each puppet states act more like an auxiliary foreign legion for Zhouranese national interests.
