A wave of emotion took over Charles as he saw the familiar towers of Gotham City. For nine years, Charles and Gotham had been hundreds of miles apart. Now, after a three-day-long car trip, Charles was back. He pulled over his car into a local motel parking lot, and got out. He just stood there, admiring the architecture of Gotham. You didn't see much of Gotham in Joursberg, where he'd lived for the past nine years. That was why he and his mother moved out there. But now his mother was dead. And he would avenge her.
Suddenly, Charles found a gun jammed into his back. His hand slowly moved to his pocket, where his own sidearm was located. "I wouldn't try that," a voice growled. "You know the deal." Charles pulled out his wallet. Not much in it, anyways. He was planning on using the ATM at the motel. He handed it over to the thief. The thief tore it open. He was evidently satisfied with what he found. "So, what are you planning on doing here in Gotham?" the thug asked. "Visiting my dad," Charles replied. "You might know him." "His name?" the thug asked. "Harvey Dent," Charles replied, smiling. The thug suddenly turned white. He dropped the gun and the wallet in his hand. Loose change hit the pavement. Charles bent down and retrieved his wallet and the man's gun, picking up all the change. Charles offered the gun back to the thug. "I already have one," Charles said. The thug took it, and ran away. Charles quickly got back in the car and pulled out of the parking lot. He was home.

And I LOVE how you focus on the Harleen side of her as much as her flamboyant, badder half. Almost no one else does that and you pull it off superbly!
Ya know...if the shotgun's gonna be a regular character, it really should have it's own name!
