Veldzicht on the precipice of a double-gold season. Kuipers confident in the match-up against Lindastir in Kotapura

Piet Kennard, aka "The General" taunting YT Arksen after a 69' goal.

" ... Some might say this season was miraculous for us. But I say it all came down to solid fundamentals and top-of-the-line teamwork that pulled us through one of our best seasons yet." said team captain and attacking midfielder Karl Sherburn in the post-game interview of today's game in Ar'ksen City. Veldzicht FC ran one of the best seasons in Union League history going nearly lossless, their only defeat coming at the hands of Kapolder-Elektro in a devastating 5-0 trouncing. However, Veldzitch went undefeated going forward, eventually taking on Launey FC for the Union Cup, winning with a handy 2-1.

The early post-season saw the recruitment of the Northern United attacker Bailey Marane, who due to the proximity of his recruitment, was not allowed to join the remaining of his squad during the Champions Cup. Marane would later, in an interview with the Dormill-Stiuraian Dispatch, call his recruitment a "bittersweet boon" as he watched his home club get knocked out of the opening round by PSS Sangar. Veldzicht would soon get its first taste of gameplay against Orsburgh, where they tied 3-3 away, which would prove to be their saving grace after tieing 2-2 back home.

"If there was anything 'miraculous' for our team this year, it was that 2-2 game back in Foglight against Orsburgh. Both for getting us further in the tournament and giving us a chance to get some classical-style revenge of Kapolder for Week 5 (referring to the 5-0 game between the two teams). Everybody on the field could almost feel the national sigh of relief when that honest hell of a game finally ended." noted Head Coach Harry Kuipers, who also said in response to today's games that he felt the team was ready to take on Lindastir again.

National News of the Empire

Reminder that any tampering with the information that the National News of the Empire provides is punishable by time in prison, depending on the severity of the tampering.

Men Arrested on Sedition

Sedition is a crime that one should be ashamed of. We should be reminded daily of all that our emperor provides to us. However, there will be what one would call "bad apples" in our glorious country of Teronita. When our nation had an issue of traitors in the early 1900's, our absolutely loving and amazing emperor at the time, Premonti Grenrer, decided to put an end to that when he instilled a sense of loyalty into our citizens and abandoned our failing constitution, which held a ridiculous premise of "freedom of speech", a concept that many nations today have, for the oddest of reasons. To show disloyalty towards your country will get you prison time, deservedly, of course.

Rertana Wama, and his brother, Welliu, were arrested yesterday after a loyal citizen reported them to our valiant police force. The citizen has honorably requested for their name to not be mentioned because, as quoted by said citizen, "I only wish to follow the law and bring to glory to the Empire". The family of these men has been put on surveillance due to the reasonable suspicion that they may also be disloyal to the Empire. Their immediately family includes Rertana's wife, Ghalifa, and their 12 year old daughter, Shulia. Welliu was not strong enough to sustain a family. Rertana is seeing his crumble before his eyes due to his treacherous act. Both men are from Monta

The citizen accused them of saying the following at a local market in Monta.:
Rertana- "The empire is failing us, and is failing as nation."
Welliu- "I plan to flee this piece of crud country, brother."

The severity of their remarks will be judged tomorrow by a local council, however, it is expected that the almighty emperor, Halif Grenrer, will intervene and serve his own penalty due to his intolerance of any treason against our glorious emperor.

Government officials, celebrities and the nation blast state run Teronitan News and Law / Offentlige tjenestemenn, kjendiser og nasjonen angriper Teronitan-nyhetene

Members of the government, along with celebrities and other citizens have joined to denounce the "obscene, petty and incredibly strict" Sedition laws within Teronita.
The state run National News of the Empire reported that two men were arrested by the "valiant police force" after they spoke out about the obvious failings of their nation. People within Kalmarfrihet question whether police who arrest those who speak their opinion are deserving of the title of "valiant".

The hell is this? They are suppressing the people's unquestionable right to free speech!

Valiant police force? No, no? Valiant police forces do not arrest because of one's opinion.

Prime Minister Martha Jorgensen blasted the laws, calling for the safe release of the men, and gives them an unprecedented promise.

"When this nation was created, the people whom live here were given the right to free speech. In almost every other nation the citizenry are allowed to have their own opinions. It is shocking to see that a nation like Teronita, which is clearly 100 years in the past, arrests those for their opinion that their nation is failing them. You cannot suppress the opinions of others, let alone the truth. I call upon other nations to pressure Teronita to release the 'criminals'. I can also assure that the men, when they are released, they will be guaranteed emergency citizenship in Kalmarfrihet."

The Kalmar government is waiting for a response from the Teronitan government, and hopes that there is still time to have the men released.

GRAND COURT LEGALIZES ASSISTED SUICIDE

Roendavarian Grand Court passing the Free Death Act

June 18, 2018

Assisted suicide, or legal suicide, has been legalized through a close vote for the Free Death Act, which has been a controversial topic since it was conceived 3 years ago, at the Grand Court on the morning of June 8, 2018.

DecisionHigh Chamber VoteLow Chamber VoteMonarch Vote
For3108Yes
Against192No

The High Chamber has voted for with 3-1, with the presidents of Andavar, Sudever, and Vastaros voting for the law, and the president of Tillianan voting against the law. The Low Chamber voted for with 108-92, with Andavari and Sudeverian representatives accumulating much of the votes for the law. The ruling monarch has voted for the Free Death Act, securing its win and earning its way into the Roendavarian Code.

The Free Death Act, which was officially named C.L. 160293, guarantees the right of any person, both citizens and non-citizens of Roendavar, to a quick and painless death upon request. Each person has the right to request for termination of life with or without physical nor mental illness, regarding of age, gender, and way of thinking. The Act also guarantees that such procedures shall be paid for by the state, as with any medical procedure, not only for Roendavarian Citizens, but to those in other countries who wish to apply for the procedure. Foreign citizens who wish to undergo assisted suicide will have their transportation and other costs paid for by the state. For those who wish to be cremated, cremation is also guaranteed and paid for by the state. Hospitals and other medical institutions cannot turn down requests for such procedures. Failure to provide will result in revocation of medical license of said doctors and revocation of business license for the said medical institution, with a fine of 500,000 Leuras.

The Free Death Act was highly controversial and sparked a protest on the state of Tillianan days before the meeting of the Court. One of its most vocal critics was the Archbishop Mikhael Szarenu, Archbishop of the Church of Tillianan. On the rally on June 17, he stated that "God has given us our life. Who are we to take it away?", sparking widespread backlash from Andavarian liberals. Tillianan, the most conservative state in the country, has requested to be exempt from the Free Death Act during the meeting but was turned down by King Vladimir IV on the grounds of "Tillianan must go with the times". Rallies were also held at Lantaroci City at Vastaros, which sparked discontent with the Vastarosi Representatives at the Low Chamber, resulting in a majority vote with the representatives against the Free Death Act, 8-42.

Regardless of criticism by the two states, the law was passed with the help of the representatives of Andavar and Sudever, with the representatives voting a perfect 50-0 for the law in both states. Celebrations were held outside the Grand Court Building in the capital, Dociara City, after it was announced that the law has been put into place. President of Andavar, Lord Cătălin Alveus Văstin, stated in an interview hours after the meeting that it was important that the country push through with the legislation as it concerns the "freedom for all". Civil Rights activists around the country has hailed the legalization, "a step towards a right future for Roendavar", as support both local and international poured through during the proceedings.

As stated by various hospitals, assisted suicide will now be offered at all hospitals around the country on June 20, with the exception of Tillianan, which will push its implementation to June 29. For more information, visit the DVH's website.

First ASF2 "Prédateur" Delivered to Corindi Air Force

Image
An artist's rendition of the ASF2 "Prédateur"

The first operational Cabrera-Bretodeau Aviation ASF2 completed it's ferry flight to Carmo's Rivera Air Force Base, the CAF's largest base in the nation. The ASF2, intended to serve as a more advanced and specialized replacement to the Air Force's MRF7 fighters has been in development for nearly a decade, primarily by major defense contractor Cabrera-Bretodeau but also with collaboration with Corindi Dynamics and Arcolectro, particularly in the avionics and engines.

The aircraft, Corindia's second stealth fighter after the SF7 "Ansar", is a dedicated air superiority fighter, meaning that although it has anti-ground capabilities, it's main task will be engaging and destroying enemy fighters to allow Corindi and allied strike fighters free reign over the skies. Additionally, the ASF2 is among only a few Corindi aircraft that can supercruise, or maintain sustained supersonic flight without resorting to fuel-inefficient afterburners. This allows it to intercept targets which subsonic aircraft would lack the speed to pursue and an afterburner-dependent aircraft would have insufficient fuel to reach. The ASF2's high operating altitude is also a significant tactical advantage over prior Corindi fighters, particularly the MRF2 and MRF7.

Although the program has attracted some criticism from both within the government and without due to its cost and the remaining serviceability of the MRF7, proponents are sure to see a boost in credibility due to the delivery of a finished and functional product.

White Reformer Protest, States Halt Church Funding,

|Gran Teran, June 19, 2018|

|Repeated White Reformer Protests in Capital|
Good evening, in recent days Cardinal Pius III of the Jimenean Catholic Church made the decision to send representatives chosen by the Jimenean bishops to various state legislatures with hopes to defend state funding to the Church. Without federal funding, the Jimenean Church is struggling to maintain various hospitals, orphanages, schools, and parishes. Cardinal Pius III announced that parishes from various diocese will be forced to shut down or consolidate with each other. His plan is to shut down various parishes in order to save parochial schools and Church-owned hospitals.

On Saturday, June 16, Church officials had arrived in state capitals across the nation. As the officials arrived, hundreds gathered to protest their arrival, most notable of these groups being the White Reformers. The White Reformers have in the past been blamed for various Church bombings and shootings and for attacks on Catholic laity and clergy. Although the White Reformers claim to be a "Protestant friendly" and "anti-Catholic" organization not a single Protestant denomination in San Jimenez has endorsed the organization, instead, most have condemned the group for its use of violence and intimidation. In Gran Teran, an estimated 2,000 White Reformers protested in the capital urging government officials to refuse any petition by the Church. In one case in downtown Gran Teran, a White Reformer protest turned violent when White Reformers assaulted three Catholic missionaries outside a cathedral. No one was killed and only the missionaries were injured when police authorities finally arrived on the scene. The protesters remained outside the cathedral for four more hours, preventing any of the parishioners from attending mass, until they eventually dispersed.

Today, Teran, one out of ten states in San Jimenez, was the only state to continue state funding to the Jimenean Catholic Church with other states following the example of the federal government. This decision will definitely affect Church productivity and will likely increase Church opposition to the Jimenean government.

A bill was recently introduced into the Chamber of Congress that will force Jimenean Catholic Churches to remove religious symbolism in Church-owned hospitals and schools to better accommodate religious minorities in the country and another bill would force priests to report criminal confessions to state authorities, violating Church doctrine and teaching. Both bills have not yet been addressed by the Jimenean Church. The bill could potentially land many priests in jail should they not comply with national law. Another case would be if the Jimenean Catholic Church did comply it would be forced to indirectly create a sort of schism between the Jimenean Church and the Roman Catholic Church. Either way, the Jimenean Catholic Church led by Cardinal Pius III will have to address these pressing issues if the bill is passed sometime today in Congress.

We will update you as these stories develop, thank you for choosing the Gran Teran Gazette.

BREAKING : Evacuation Helicopter Shot Down over Lihai. 80 + Evacuees Feared Dead

Image

Building damaged by helicopter collision.

LIHAI,ORSANDIA (GT) - An evacuation helicopter with the Orsandian Air Force was shot down as it attempted to liftoff from the Barton Center evacuation Site in downtown Lihai. Witnesses told the Guangfeng Times that the helicopter, a Chinook helicopter, was taking off with evacuees and personnel in tow when they heard a loud "fire cracker" sound followed by seeing the Chinook spin out of control and crash into an abandoned building a few blocks down from the Barton Center. Military personnel and first responders were at the scene, with an Army spokesman briefing reporters. The outlook on rescue efforts was grim, and could be seen on the spokesman's face. "At this time, we cannot confirm any survivors in the crash. We offer our condolences and sincere prayers to the families of these evacuees."

Emerging from a conference room within the Executive Palace in Guangfeng, a visibly distraught Prime Minister Willamson offered his condolences and prayers for all affected. Choking back tears, Williamson spoke "They were not combatants. They were trying to flee a war zone and violence, and they were all attacked for the simple reason of trying to flee. I want the world to know this : "Blood is on the hands of the Thuzbekistani Government and the PLF."

Orsandian air strikes intensified in wake of the incident, as PLF forces caputred the Waylen Heights neighborhood of Lihai in the Urching Administrative Region. In a captured video from within the region, the PLF have taken responsibility for the attack, with video footage showing insurgents donning old Orsandian Communist flags, Thuzbek flags, Weinamese flags, and the standard hammer and sickle cheering as the speaker attacked the Orsandian government as "imperialist puppets".

The Orsandian State Department has sent formal letters to allies and sympathetic nations throughout the Isles to work on their behalf in the League of the Western Isles, which the Orsandian Government is not currently a formal member of. The letters were sent to Ostehaar,Dormill and Stiura, Ainslie and others, which asked for their support in getting the League to look into formal investigations of PLF war crimes, and to condemn/investigate whether or not the Thuzbekistani Government, a rival and accused frequently by Orsandia of "stealth intervention" in the conflict, had anything to do with the incident and the PLF as a whole.

Tolorian Parliament Drafting Infrastructure Bill To Improve Poorer Communities

June 21, 2018

Image

Parliament has introduced a bill aimed at funding new infrastructure projects in the nation's poorest communities.

"This innovative, bipartisan bill offers a creative way to help our poorest neighborhoods gain employment and critical investments in long-delayed infrastructure projects," Rep. Adel Gaber said. This was the pitch that brought the support of an overwhelming majority of Parliament to back this bill.

The bill is still being constructed, but there is a coalition of lawmakers from each part of the political spectrum devoted to crafting the perfect bill. The exact number is not yet known, but it is said to be upwards of $500 M, which will be used to start at the worst parts of the country and will end up fixing the leftover parts. Economists have crunched these numbers and have said that more will be needed to completely update the infrastructure across the nation.

Infrastructure has been a key problem within the nation for the past few years, however, it has been pushed to the wayside by lawmakers in Parliament. It is a positive sign that lawmakers have begun to address this issue going forward.

South Wake Government Worried About Upcoming Flu Season After Polar Svalbard Cuts Economic Ties

In the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Wake Atolla and the follow up operation that lasted over a month Polar Svalbard's Senate voted in favor of sanctions against the small island nation. Due to Polar Svalbard's size and position near the island a large portion of Wake Sud's economic activity happened with Svalbardian buisnesses. This economic activity included pharmaceuticals and other medicinal supplies. With these sanctions it is likely that the nation will face shortages in a number of sectors until new business contracts can be arranged with other nations.

Because of this the Wake Sud government is worried that the upcoming flu season will hit the island extremely hard without Svalbardian medicinal supplies and is currently scrambling to set up new buisness contracts with other nations to import medicinal supplies and the year's new flu vaccines. When asked about the possibility of requesting humanitarian aid governmental personnel stated that the needs of the people come before the nation's honor. As such it is quite possible that the nation will make a plea for humanitarian aid due to its small economy and the shock that the economy is taking in the wake of frozen relations with its northern neighbor.

Riot Breaks Out in Front of Media Company Headquarters After Show Has "Horrible Ending"

Earlier today a riot broke out in front of the animation company Starlight's headquarters when almost 200 hundred angry fans gathered together after the ending of the hit show Ten Years. Ten Years was a 20 episode series produced by Starlight that was met with huge ratings and a large contingent of fans who loved the show. Merchandising and Ads made the show very profitable but the most interesting aspect was how the story managed to turn from an upbeat story into abject horror by the end of its run that left most of the fans' favorite characters dead in a bittersweet ending as some would call it, or a horrible ending as many fans called it across many internet forums.

The gathering that got out of hand was organized on the popular Svalbardian forum website FirstRead where in the Starlight Subforum a number of fans kept on saying that they would "literally riot" if the show ended terribly after they had fallen for the characters. Apparently a good amount were serious enough that they planned on all protesting or at least being a nuisance in front of Starlight's headquarters in Alta. In reports after it appears as though a large number of people who attended were just there for fun as they thought it would be a good laugh. This hopeful fun turned wrong when police arrived treating it as an unlawful protest as this protest was unplanned with the City Board and it was starting to block the street that the building was located on. At this point a number of people in the crowd started to throw stuff at police forces which caused a clash which many of these protestors didn't want. After some time the whole thing was sorted out with only minor injuries on either side and three arrests being made. At that point everyone dispersed.

The Starlight Subforum is apparently having a great time with this and traffic to the subforum is up over 100% after this incident with many people on the website stating that they never though anyone would "literally riot" over a show.

F106 SNS Vlahakis Launches As The Third LCFx Kreshen Class Frigate

Image

Today the SNS Vlahakis was launched after being in construction since July 27, 2016. This is the third LCFx Kreshen Class Frigate, an upgraded version of the original Kreshen Class Frigates for more use in the blue water navy over the regular Kreshen Class' role being more in Coastal Waters. Production on this ship and her sister ship have slowed down after budget cuts occured in 2016 and 2017 to compensate for the wars and conflicts that Polar Svalbard had found itself in which took money away from procuring vessels. When issues came up with the vessels the military had to hold back on spending the money to fix them and thus for a couple months production halted.

For now F106 is under going sea trials before she will be commissioned in the Svalbardian Navy. Her sister ship, which will be the SNS Anastos should be complete within the next month.

TÊHAÊVU SAFE FOLLOWING TRIBAL VIOLENCE

TÊHAÊVU - The government has officially announced that Têhaêvu is safe again following the riots that broke out last week in response to the execution of six Hâktêkânlap men. Military forces were forced to be called into the city, and a temporary state of martial law was enacted within the city until tribal conflicts could be brought back down to safe levels.

"We're happy to say that the city of Têhaêvu has returned to a state of peace," said Prince-Governor Hitap Kushut to the press last night. "Men and women of any tribal affiliation can again walk the streets with the comfort of knowing they are safe."

Some individuals in the Sâtêp claim that this sense of safety has been exaggerated. Speaking on behalf of the politicians in favour of a diasporist outlook, Hitap Ihwalâ Luktsha stated that "the violence and conflict that ignited these riots in the first place is not gone, it is simply suppressed" and that "the threat of military violence in these situations is only a temporary filter on a bigger issue of national unity".

"It is more important now than ever that we foster a sense of oneness in the Mênna," said the elder statesman. "As long as we continue to foster tribal divisions, conflicts like this will continue. The government should focus on encouraging a centralization of our identity. Reach out to our brothers and sisters in all corners of this country, in all corners of this region, and we will be strong. Is the motto of this nation not 'strong community, strong nation, strong world'? Let us take those words to heart, just as they were stated by our founding fathers."

Some claim that Ihwalâ is underplaying the importance of Mênnan tribal relations.

"We can't forget that the crime these men hung for was a tribally-motivated gang rape," said Hitap Tatta Ushu of the Sâtêp. "We can't beat around the bush here. The depth to which these people feel these divides is not to be dismissed outright, and not something the government can fix easily. We must be ready to defend peace and safety at all times, even if that means the use of military force."

Representatives of the Hâktêkânlap tribe claim that they will be bringing a case against the Prince-Governor's judgement and those of his vêivi advisors to higher circles of judgement.

"Dozens are dead as a result of Kushut's judgement," said Hitap Vishku of the Hâktêkânlap. "Justice will be swiftly dealt."

Your Weather: Arnton - 29C/13C

DOMESTIC: Court overrules parents, religion, in landmark decision
Arnton, Ainslie

A significant decision from the Collective Courts of Ainslie today has human rights advocates formally requesting the Judicial Council to review the decision from a case on the basis of religious freedom.

Lisa and Mark Werren’s lawsuit involves Anertah General Hospital, whom gave a young baby a blood transfusion despite willingly knowing the objections of the parents. Both Werren parents are members of the Ahnslen Organisation for the Jehovah’s Witnesses, a christian-related group who have come under intense public scrutiny from other churches due to their abnormal practices.

It is part of this organisation’s beliefs that blood transfusions are sinful if they involve “impure blood”, that being the blood of non-believers. Neither of the parents were eligible to give blood for the child and as a result the paediatric medical team had to make a quick decision whether to ignore the parents’ concerns or uphold them. The medical team, through a statement released by the Anertah General Hospital when the case reached the courts, believed that without the procedure Isaac would have “almost certainly died”.

These concerns for his life were echoed by the Collective Court’s hearing of the case, which presided over the case after it was appealed from a lower court. Today was the final day of the case, and Chief Justice Lerran alongside four other Collective Court Justices upheld the decision of the lower court.

Lerran explained his reasoning for upholding the decision today in court.

“Through an implied interpretation of the Crimes Act and the Family Law Act, it is clear that the medical professionals acted well within the extent of the law and in fact performed their duties in accordance with it. Despite the exception as a result of recent amendments to the Crimes Act, the right to life of individuals has remained a fundamental principle of Ahnslen Law. The child both in that circumstance and at that age must be considered doli incapax and thus cannot adequately make the decision to align with the religious beliefs of his parents or deviate from them. It is our belief that if and when Isaac Werren chooses to become a Jehovah’s Witness that a so called purification process could occur. To that end, the Court automatically nullifies any criminal malpractice charges being brought against anyone at the Anertah General Hospital in relation to the facts of this case.”

Anertah General Hospital today expressed their relief at the CCA’s statement regarding the matter. The hospital also reaffirmed the necessity of the procedure, stating that “Isaac Werren would have most likely died if the emergency surgery was not undertaken. We have likely increased the longevity of his life through a split second decision.”

Human Rights advocates and political commentators have voiced their concerns regarding the issue, with some calling the court’s decision “a double standard when comparing it to the recent same-sex marriage legislation”. In addition to this, commentators have stated that this case has “sparked the deterioration between the distancing of the secular government from religious affairs and vice versa.

However, many people on social media have expressed their support for the Court’s decision, with one user stating that “human rights conflict and we need to pick the ones we value the most. I thank @CCAGov for choosing one of the right ones to back.”

This happens amidst a submission from a group of religious freedom advocates and right-wing political commentators to the Judicial Council of Ainslie to review the decision on the grounds that “matters regarding the prioritisation of human rights should be decided by the highest courts of the land”.

According to the Ahnslen Centre for Political and Social Sciences, this proposal is likely to be ignored and the landmark decision will be kept as precedent in these forms of cases until legislation either supports or rejects it.

DOMESTIC: Authorities detain alleged supremist elder Archie Rutledge
Anertah, Ainslie

Following a raid in the city of Badara in the electorate of Arlanah, the illusive Archie Rutledge, a senior official of the group “Whites Rise” has been successfully detained by the Ahnslen Federal Police. This comes as a result of a tip off from ABISS, who have been monitoring communications within the group with their fellow Gael Four partners.

AFP Commissioner Daniel Warner spoke to the press today regarding the events of the night before.

“We are pleased to have what we believe is a senior member of a major white supremacist group in our custody. This is as a result of a major logistical operation which has spanned multiple borders and included many different people in many different agencies. It is the time to stamp out this black spot in Ainslie, and we will further endeavour to acquire the truth regarding this incident.”

The arrest comes amidst rising suspicions that individuals in Badara, which has previously been referred to as a quite “traditional, conservative area”, have been rallying against recent relaxes in migration and travel policy by the Kenzai administration.

The chief of the organisation has already been arrested, but is now believed that it is now run by a council of multiple “elders” who coordinate with one another.

It is likely following questioning that Rutledge, 52, will be charged with multiple terrorism offences and be taken to trial if a not guilty plea is filed with the Courts.

Woman Gives Birth On Train, Baby Offered Free Rail Travel Until He's 25
23 June 2018

Image

Locals experienced train delays in Renai saturday morning when a woman gave birth to a baby boy at the Aime station on the busy Renai Express Network (REN) line.

The train stopped at the station in central Renai as the woman, who was with her husband, went into advanced labour and the baby was born at 11.40 am, helped by around 15 people including emergency workers, police and rail staff. Trains were halted in both directions on a particularly busy section of the REN A commuter line for 45 minutes due to the "unexpected" incident.

The delay was displayed on the screens of the station, the reason being listed as “the unexpected birth of a baby at Aime station.”

The couple and their baby were seen by paramedics and then safely evacuated to the nearest clinic, REN posted on its Twitter account.

It was later announced that the REN transport operator, REN Administration (RENA), would grant the baby free rides on the whole network until his 25th birthday. Precy Conan, president of the RENA congratulated the birth on Twitter: “All sorts of events occur on the REN, some of them happier than others! A long and happy life to the baby.”

Shooting in Utrølig mall, police confirm fatalities
Saturday mornings are a perfect time for weekend shopping, particularly on Sliced Saturday, where hundreds upon thousands of stores nationwide slash their prices and shoppers are able to get a sweet deal on their favourite products. However, this year's Sliced Saturday was one of bloodshed, as the largest mall in the country came under attack this morning.

Police first received reports that an armed man was threatening to shoot himself.

Minutes later, reports stated that he had opened fire in a small café, with an semi automatic weapon.

Police arrived at the mall some minutes later, and immediately stormed the building. Police were told to evacuate uninjured civilians, and would leave injured civilians for medical care.

The shooter was apprehended 6 minutes after he began the attack.

Police have confirmed 4 deaths and 47 injuries.

More details are expected to be released soon.

LINDASTIR DAAREM BEATS VELDZICHT FC 3-2 AND WINS GAEL CHAMPIONS CUP

They say Oster warriors in ancient times used to be resilient and hardwearing - long-distance runners - who excelled even when odds seemed bleak. Last night at King Banser Stadium in Kotapura, Samudera, Lindasit Daarem (Lindastir Union) proved that during the match against Veldzicht FC. The Dormill-Stiuraian team put significant pressure, forcing Lindastir to take the defensive position for most of the first half, and scoring a spectacular goal on the 36th minute.

The second half opened with a penalty goal by captain Ari Vehes, which seemed to spur the team back to life, taking more of the initiative and slightly balancing ball possession statistics. Veldzicht however still demonstrated superior control over the field and scored again on the 58th minute. Lindastir's forward Mark Gaalgriner, one of the team's top scorers, injured his leg on the 73rd, sending himself out. It is still uncertain if he would be able to play with the national team in the upcoming regional IFAF cup.

Image
Oster fans anxiously watching Vehes' penalty kick.

Vehes scored again on the 81st minute, saving Lindastir from a loss and buying the extra time. By the 100th minute mark Veldzicht seemed to succumb to fatigue, allowing for more Oster offensive and eventually failing to defend against a magnificent goal by Daar Brikner, Lindastir's winger and the national team's captain, ten minutes before the end of the match. He collected a long ball out of the back, outpaced and rounded Veldzicht's defenders, before putting the ball in the back of the net.

The Dormill-Stiuraian team tried to quickly push for a tie but was unsuccessful. The game ended on the 124th minute with Lindastir Daarem as Gael champion, for the first time in this decade. "This is an amazing moment and I'm very proud," said coach Martin Jeh Brent, who joined the staff and the players in receiving the cup. "Veldzicht played an excellent game, and definitely performed better during the first half, but we managed to turn the tide thanks to Ari, Daar, and the other players here."

Image

Fans all across Ostehaar celebrated the victory throughout the night. Since most of the players in the national team are Lindastir Daarem players, including the two scorers of the Gael cup final, many view this as a good starting point for the Osters in the IFAF cup. "First Gael - then The Western Isles!" Shouted several fans in Voster Park, where thousands have gathered to watch the match on huge screens.

Meanwhile, in the social networks, the hashtag #SehedBrikner became the number-one trending hashtag in Ostehaar, with thousands referring to Daar Brikner, who scored the 110th minute goal, "a national hero" (Sehed is a word in Old Oster that means honorable sir or a most distinguished person).

ENFRANCHISEMENT DEBATE RAGES IN SÂTÊP

SHUHAKALLU - Old discussions and lingering tensions have reignited heated debate in the Sâtêp this week as low caste enfranchisement is brought forth as an option. The bill currently being discussed, as put forth by Kivêlâ Hitap Kintushêshê Pi, would offer the vote to both the judicial and priestly castes, with an option currently on the table to extend the bill's purview to cover the merchant caste as well. Supporters of the bill suggest that increased participation and voice in governance amongst the lower castes will enable policymakers to better reflect the needs of the country, and will encourage greater active participation in current economic development procedures. Opponents claim the bill is an appeal to populism, and that the mob rule of broader democratic powers will bog down the Sâtêp in needless debate. On top of that, opponents to the bill also claim that passage of such a bill would encourage increased delinquency by noted anti-princely groups, such as Nâtkut Sumi. According to insiders, the argument has been expansive and heated, and one 'êsh has already been challenged, although the challenge was revoked and withdrawn following opppositio by the 'uhitap.

Traditionalist spokesperson, Hitap Mipax Shutu, hotly argued against the bill. "This is a challenge to the fabric of basic Mênnan values of order, structure and hierarchy. Our systems exist for a reason. It is an attempt by westernizing forces to undermine and whitewash our cultural institutions. We cannot become yet another cog in the globalization machine."

This is not the first time that a similar bill has been brought before the Sâtêp, although it is the first time it has been presented by Hitap Kintushêshê. Enfranchisement efforts were last stalled in 2011 without a vote being called.

"If we are to continue to move forward with our commitments to foreign countries, and with our presentation on the world stage as a rational influencer, we must recognize that change is inevitable," said Hitap Usu Usu, widely regarded as the voice of modernizing efforts in the Sâtêp. "We must work to enter into that world brotherhood in good faith, and I do not believe that good faith can be maitained in our current political environment. Enfranchisement of the priests and judges is a small but important step in the right direction."

Hitap Kintushêshê has claimed that since bringing the bill forward she has faced threats of attack, including death threats, in addition to wide-reaching support.

"Opinions, even outside the government, are clearly divided," she stated. "I am not worried for my safety, but I am worried for the direction of this bill."

War in Orsandia: Foreign Minister Nalik Hits Back at Orsandian Claims, Denies Involvement
6-23-18

Earlier this morning, Foreign Minister Nalik released a statement blasting the Orsandian government for claiming that Thuzbekistan was responsible for the helicopter crash stating that it was "an action taken by a military force in a war zone" and "not the action of a nation-state." The Foreign Minister further stated that "the Orsandian government knows better and is stirring false accusations against Thuzbekistan in an attempt to hide its poor battlefield performance." It also flatly denied any involvement.

The statements come after an evacuation helicopter, which was clearly marked, was shot down as it flew over the front lines which have now extended far enough south that they cannot be avoided. Some 30 or so people died according to the Orsandian news outlet the "Guangfeng Times".

However, such incidents are bound to happen as the front moves southwards, said a source in the Thuzbek Marine Corps who claimed to be a strategic analyst.

"When you have heavy urban combat against an enemy which has air superiority, any and all aircraft become suspect," he said to our reporter. "If it flies, you shoot it."

Another issue for the PLF in identifying their targets is being able to determine the type of aircraft.

"From the perspective of a soldier on the ground, an aircraft flying overhead is simply a scout. You can't see the insignia," the analyst said. "This is why NGO's and aid organizations route their aircraft around the battlefield instead of flying directly over the front lines."

As the battle for Lihai continues, however, incidents such as these are becoming more common. As the city empties of people, soldiers begin to fight in residential areas and further into the city. The particularly heavy fighting in Harbin, just outside of Lihai, has produced many causalities, particularly civilian ones. It is estimated that at least 10,000 civilians have died and some 250,000-350,000 have been displaced by the fighting in Lihai alone. As the struggle continues, the Foreign Ministry continues to call for an immediate cease-fire and negotiations between the PLF and the Allied forces.

"Without a cease-fire, there can be no end to the bloodshed," Foreign Minister Nalik said during one statement released last week. "The Orsandian government must treat if it wishes to save the lives of its citizenry."

With no negotiations in sight, it is impossible to say when the bloodshed could end.

Scathing Report Shows Infrastructure Around Ashluv in Disrepair

A report released by the Ashluv City Council and the Ashluv Workers Council to Parliament showed that local Levees, roadways, and bridges were in "complete disrepair" and demanded at least 2.5 Billion US dollars for a complete overhaul of the city's vital infrastructure.

The Report, which took over a year to compile after several inspections by the councils, focused mainly on the city's roads and levees along the Ashluv River which runs through the city before dumping into the sea. The levees along the river were described as "Mounds of dirt" in some places that "could not hold back a storm surge higher than 1.5 meters."

The Vanguard Party Chairman Atilla Lütfi responded to the report after days of silence.

"The state of the infrastructure cannot be exaggerated- The City of Ashluv needs immediate assistance from the National Government. We will be placing a bill on the floor tonight in order to reallocate our resources for the project."

However, Opposition Chairman Harun Burak showed concern regarding the issue.

"Billions of dollars are already slated for repairs in Baslov, Bashlon, Nassar, and for the Ashluvian Hydroelectric Dam," he said in a leaked statement to the Opposition party behind closed doors. "We cannot afford a massive reallocation without sacrificing some aspect of our infrastructure."

The state of Thuzbek infrastructure is becoming the highlight of the political debates as reports from Nassar, Baslov, and other cities showed similar situations.

"The state of our roads and bridges is simply dismal," one MP said in an anonymous interview with Thuzbek State News. "Our people have known that for years now, but the wheels of bureaucracy have finally turned enough for action to be taken."

The system of checks and councils has long been known to work slowly but effectively. However, it has come under fire in recent days with the Conservative Party having voiced concerns regarding the efficiency of the government for more than a decade now. As they steadily grew in the opposition ranks, it became clear that the people were getting tired of the issue. As such, the National Workers Council stated that it has "devoted billions of dollars and thousands of man hours in the maintenance of our roads."

"We cannot wait any longer with this," a MP said during a debate on Friday Morning. "We must act now."

Opinion: Debate Within Menna Shulli Shows Dismal State of Human Rights

Debate rages within the Sâtêp in Shuhakallu this week regarding enfranchisement of the lower castes in Menna Shulli. The bill attempts to expand voting rights and political freedom to what some may call the "middle class" but in Menna Shulli, are simply known as the Judicial and Priestly Castes with some thoughts to expand it to the Merchant class as well. While many "progressive" Mênnan people are for the bills, traditionalists work to oppress the lower castes with alarming energy.

The Traditionalists, which is mostly made up of older families of the Princely caste, blasted the attempts at expanded human rights as another attempt to make Menna Shulli another "cog in the globalization machine." Of course, this conveniently forgets that the massive sweatshops operated by the nation manufacture mostly foreign goods, and thus globalizes Menna Shulli in the sense that it uses near slave labor to keep the market supplied with fresh toys for Svalbardian children. (Watch out for the lead levels!)

However, even the "progressives" of Menna Shulli are a complete hogwash of political reactionaries simply trying to score points with the lower castes for when they finally awake and rid themselves of the chains of their oppressors. They are hardly worthy of being the subject of a game of Buzkashi by the standards of the rest of the world.

Despite this, the world simply continues to employ its slave laborers to make its plastic toys and little electronics. Par for the course for a world which ignores the plight of the worker in Orsandia.

If the League of The Western Isles had any sense, it would sanction Menna Shulli and pass strict resolutions against the use of near slave labor. But as Thuzbek peoples have always known, the League is wholly against the strife of the worker so long as it lines their pockets. Perhaps someday they will see the truth of their actions, but not anytime soon.

Kalmarfrihet shock Norstham 3-0 to qualify for 2018 Isles Cup

Image
The 4-1-2-2-1 formation of Kalmarfrihet

ANTONITE, COVONANT

The little known Kalmarfrihet side upset 2017 IFAF Western Isles Cup champions Norstham with a shocking 3-0 win at Antonite, Covonant to steer themselves on the path to the 2018 IFAF Western Isles Cup.

The match began at 7:00 pm local time in Antonite Athletic Park and Stadium on Friday. 39 minutes after the kick-off, Norsan forward Redwood was been shown the yellow card for a sliding challenge on Kalmarfrihet's defender Hekki Maartensen. Two minutes later, Kalmarfrihet's midfield maestro Petr Mathiasen's cross was met by Magnus Kjellberg at the back post. Kjellberg then sent the ball heading towards Niko Gunnarsen lightly tap-in a brilliant goal.

Ten minutes into the second half, Norsan goalkeeper Schrøter, under pressure from a corner into the box, elected to punch the ball rather than collecting. And Kalmarfrihet's forward Jans Ostberg cynically brought down his opponent to earn a booking. Deciding that they should not risk more yellow cards with an aggressive player like Ostberg, the Kalmarfrihet side substituted him with Mick Micksen three minutes later.

In the 63rd minutes, substitute Micksen's right-sided cross was deflected into the air. Niko Gunnarsen was there again to help the ball over the line to make the score 2-0. Just four minutes later, Norstham's possession was broken Kalmarfrihet's Jaks Christiansen, who plays a one-two with Gunnarsen. Christiansen then slotted the ball in to seal the match in Kalmarfrihet's favor. Like Théotime Lyon, the hero of Thromsa qualifying 2-0 win against Domanania, Niko Gunnarsen has also certainly caught the attention of scouts from the Norsan Premier League, various top-tier Gael-based clubs and Athara Magarat's Dragon Division.

Defending champions Norstham seemed to have given their domination to the Kalmarfrihet side in the match. Norstham's hopes for defending their title as former champions now lie in their match on Wednesday. Polar Svalbard and Weinam play against one another on Su Stadium in New Libang at 1:00 pm on Saturday. The loser of the match will play Norstham to decide the third team from Wake Islands region for the 2018 IFAF Western Isles Cup.

Yang Tan goal against injury-prone Polar Svalbard sends Weinam to 2018 Isles Cup

Image
Weinam's 1st Team in 4-1-3-1-1 formation

NEW LIBANG

Like the June 14th match between Domanania and Thromsa which resulted in the latter beating the former 2-0, the men's national football teams of Polar Svalbard and Weinam met at 1:00 pm local time in Su Stadium, New Libang, Athara Magarat to decide which nation would be qualifying for the 2018 IFAF Western Isles Cup. Just like the match a week ago, the Armed Police Force of Athara Magarat (APF), the Athara Magarat National Army and the Vancouvian Special Forces (VSF) maintained a heavy presence around the stadium and the city.

Just 15 minutes after the kick-off, Svalbardian forward Jonathan Barstad suffered a hamstring injury. Barstad looked miserable as he gingerly jogged off the pitch to be replaced by Ilyasov Timur. 15 more minutes later, Weinamese defender Ju Guan surged through the middle and continued his run down the flank. After being faced with multiple opponents, he sent the ball towards midfielder Yang Tan, who let loose from range with a swerving shot. Svalbardian goalkeeper Raymond Heinen managed to just barely touch the ball as Yang Tan netted the ball with his ranged attack.

In the 62nd minute, Svalbardian midfielder Dominic Richards was on the floor holding his hamstring as well. As Richards limped off, Mathias Williamsen replaced the injured man. Five minutes later, naturalized Weinamese star player Rivaldinho was substituted by newcomer Sun Szi.

In the 70th minute, Svalbardian midfielder Christian Kerg was booked for his poor challenge on Weinamese striker Ju Zuan. The flurry of yellow cards got worse 8 minutes later. Goal-scorer Yang Tan and Svalbardian midfielder Shelepov Arseni ridiculously shoved each other and then indulged in a war of words. The referee wasted no time in showing yellow cards to both of them for this sort of behavior.

The remainder of the match was spent on substitutions. In the 79th minute, Weinamese striker Ju Zuan was replaced by Zhen Wong. Meanwhile in the 84th minute, Geir Grieg replaced Christian Kerg; yet another injured Svalbardian footballer. In the 90th minute, Weinam still made a substitution with Galibier, another naturalized Weinamese star player, being replaced by Shun Du.

The sole Yang Tan goal was enough to separate the sides in the match. Polar Svalbard have now no other option than on Wednesday to defeat Norstham, who were shocked by a 3-0 defeat to Kalmarfrihet on Friday, if they want to keep their 2018 IFAF Western Isles Cup dream alive. Considering that crucial Svalbardian players have suffered injuries in this match and Norstham are the defending champions; it will not be an easy road to be taken.

WEINAM SECURES CUP PLACE WITH WIN OVER POLAR SVALBARD

Image
Weinamese players and fans celebrate victory late into the night

Weinam secured a place into the Isles Cup with a 1-0 victory over Polar Svalbard last night. Midfielder Yang Tan scored in the 30th minute with a swift strike that saw Weinam secure it's first place in the International Isles Cup 2018. The match was fraught with drama as Polar Svalbard suffered multiple injuries during the game which hampered their play and allowed Weinam to capitalize. Victory secured Weinam a place in the Isles Cup, their first ever appearance in a major tournament which sparked huge celebrations with the stadium and back home as crowds gathered on the streets of Teikong to party into the late hours. Police were on hand on ensure no trouble ensued and no arrests were reported.

Weinam Head Coach, Ki Chang was ecstatic about the result but gave huge credit to the Svalbardian's during the after-match interview.

"I am simply elated about the win and our first ever tournament. Polar Svalbard fought very hard and gave us a very good 90 minutes. The injuries sustained were unbelievable and I feel deep sympathy for the Svalbardian team, I really hope they turn things around and get the result they deserve against Norstham. As for Weinam, we need to focus now on the cup and prepare for our first game. We will be up against the best of the Isles so we have to train hard, prepare mentally and show that Weinam are not there to make up the numbers".

The Weinamese team will now head off to a training camp for the next few weeks and get ready for the cup, while keeping an eye on the other qualifying games to see who performs and progresses. Weinam will head into the tournament feeling confident after recent games saw a good draw with Orsandia and now the win against Polar Svalbard.

PRESIDENT ZHANG OPENS WEINAM'S DOORS TO INTERNATIONAL NEIGHBORS

Image
Teikong city is vying to become an international hub.

Weinamese President, Lin Zhang has announced today that Weinam is open to it's international neighbors. Zhang has been working hard to work closer with the international community in key areas such as Environmental, Security and Trade recently, yet is keen to go further by now allowing further constructions of embassies, oversea's offices and land purchasing. President Zhang spoke to her cabinet this morning, unveiling the plans to strike closer ties with other nations.

"Weinam is a vast, open and a green land of opportunity for us to offer to the wider world. We are in a position now to share our strong resources with those who seek to build new or stronger relationships with our country and help the world to grow, develop and share values for generations to come".

President Zhang is also considering hosting an international state party within Weinam. Plans are being drawn up on the possibility but it remains to be seen whether the international community feels confident enough to work with Weinam.

Praetor announces commitment to J.E.R.F.

In an open session of the High Council praetor Llhran Aenikh announced Iosnils participation Joint Emergency Response Force (JERF) as part of Queen Verona's plan of Iosnil taking a greater role in the international community.

Praetor Aenikh went on to say "as our nation heals from the civil war of ascension we must strive to do more for our fellow man, a great calling for the men and women of our armed forces". Praetor Aenikh famed for his pacifist views and lives by 'Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent' has previously proposed that the armed forces take a more humanitarian stance in the international community.

It is not yet clear how Iosnil will fit into the orginsation and what commitments it will give but with Queen Verona in the International District it seems like the future of Iosnil is a place on the international stage.

Iosnil goes crazy for IFAF

Football fever has spread across Iosnil with the upcoming IFAF Western Isles Cup. From the school ground to the Palace everyone is getting in on the action. Numerous schools have reported a craze of children sporting Bolvdil Darems' pink mohawk.

It seems like the whole nation is placing its hopes on Darems the 24 year old captain of the Iosnil team. Darems recently shot into the public eye as the star player of the Heanluma Hydra's, a small team who went on to win the Iosnil Cup.

Even the Crown has expressed interest in the tournament with Queen Verona saying " I would love to go and watch the tournament particularly if our boys qualify." she went on to joke that if Darems lead the team to victory she would have no choice but to name the new Royal Bolvdil.

KING DEPARTS FOR FIRST FOREIGN VISIT, TOROM

The crowds waved goodbye as the plane carrying King Vladimir IV Drăculul Avărești, together with his wife Queen Alexandra and Crown Prince Ivan, departs from Vladimir-Dociara International Airport en route to Torom as part of the country's efforts of once again opening up its relations with neighbor countries after years of inactivity, aiming to further boost Roendavarian standing in the international stage.

The monarchs chose Torom as the first country to establish ties due to the already strong relations during the War of the Roses. It was also chosen as tourists from both countries continue to rise in numbers due to the fact that Roendavar and Torom share a common fascination in architecture and the Arts. Economic trade also strengthened between the two countries and continues to increase as Roendavarian investors see a potential in Torom and are now eyeing it as the hub for Argus.

Roendavarian agenda on the visit would be focused on further strengthening ties and economic trade. The monarchs have also taken a keen interest in the city of Vagyo, a city in Torom with a large number of Roendavarian expats. Thus, visiting the city is also one of the visit's main goals along with promoting Tourism. On an interview at VBC, the King stated,

It is a key priority for our government to seek allies not just in Gael, but in all the corners of the globe. Although our presence remains weak and our existence remains unnoticed, which is both a blessing and a curse, I will make sure that Roendavar, once again, achieves power and shall be taken seriously in times of international decision making.

Although the decision to open up to foreign affairs have been welcomed by some, there are still concerns on the effect this would have on the country, as it has maintained a principle of Neutrality and No Contact on the grounds of securing peace and stability. There are fears that opening up foreign relations would bring a wave of foreign power vying for control of each states, further destabilizing the already fragile connections. Neutrality is also a concern since many speculate that opening up relations would also leave Roendavar exposed to foreign conflicts, although Minister of Defense Lord Rafael Alzhenya stated that Roendavar is well capable of handling foreign missions and threats that would endanger the country.

The visit will start from June 26 and will end on June 28. The monarchs have not planned on where the next foreign visit will take place but some scholars have theorized that it would be either Ainslie, due to proximity and historical relations, or Townside, a fellow monarchy down South. The visit will be extensively covered by the agency throughout the entirety. For more info, visit the DVH's website.

OPINION: THE CHURCH'S SHRINKING POWER IN TILLIANAN

For centuries, the Church of Tillianan has held a tight grip on the state's politics and culture, bending the people's will for liberalization and twisting it to an agenda fit for being of "power". The church's actions not only prevented the Tillianar people from modernization, but has blocked the hopes and dreams of the future generation into acquiring a life as good as the mainland. They have turned a blind eye to the outside world, knocking at their door, choosing instead to imagine a magical voice from a being who only exists in musty books and deranged minds.

However, its failure to push their agenda on the country's legislature has shown the cracks in its power. The youth are growing restless, yearning for a new life not just for them, but for their own state. We need to rise up against the misguided Church, whose good intentions are buried by misplaced knowledge. It is time for Tillianan to break free from its chains and begin a new era, a new life, a new society, a new beginning for the Tillianar. We urge the Asțăseră Kărte cun Presidănti un Lordăs to rally against the Tillianar faction in the court and diminish their power until they submit. To my fellow Tillianar, Dlo mig medet.

Anticipation building ahead of Polar Svalbard crunch match

Anticipation is building throughout the nation as the Norsan team prepare to face off against the footballers of Polar Svalbard. The equation is simple: the winner of the match will play at the Western Isles Cup, which will be hosted in Corindia. The Norsan players, the majority of whom won the tournament in 2018, and undoubtedly one of the strongest squads in the Isles, were shocked recently after a humiliating loss to Kalmarfrihet. They certainly have a big point to prove, and undoubtedly will try their very hardest to prove it against the Polar Svalbard team.

Speaking at the teams training base ahead of the match, manager Heiðar Larsson did not hide his intentions, saying: "We want to beat them, we have to beat them, and I believe that we have more than enough quality and experience in our squad to beat them."
When quizzed about any injury worries regarding his players, Larsson was keen to insist that all the players, especially crucial forward Jonathon Myran, were one hundred percent fit and ready to play the match, and that he has faith in every member of his squad.

With regards to the squad, we have compiled what we believe will be the starting XI given that all players are fit:

Note: this is not an official starting XI

Speaking about the mental readiness of the players, Larsson said: “I think the players are perfectly capable of undertaking such a challenge, they are all very strong individuals, playing for clubs at the highest level, and with that level of competition comes big games with vast amounts of pressure. They know what it’s like, they’ve played cup finals for their clubs before, be in no doubt that they can handle it.”

Anticipation is also brewing across the nation, and flags can be seen flying out of the windows of houses, and famous football songs seem to be on everybody’s mind. Many are expected to travel to the neutral venue, which has been a wholly unpopular move by IFAF amongst Norsans. Whilst many are expected to travel, police and border forces stress that they will not allow anyone with a known history of hooliganism, which strongly manifested itself in Norstham’s matches on their way to winning the competition last year, to leave the country, and that they will be intercepted as they attempt to leave the country at the airport.

Nonetheless, it promises to be either an ecstatic or terrible occasion, and twenty eight million Norsans will be behind the eleven on the eleven on the pitch with all their might.

7-goal thriller as Norsans win 4-3 against Polar Svalbard on the Road to Corindia

Image
Norstham's 4-1-2-2-1 formation

TIWE PARK

In what pundits considered to be one of the best matches of the year, in particular the second half; the talented Norsan side's blushed were saved by a 90th minute late goal as the defending champions kept their 2018 IFAF Western Isles Cup dreams alive. The ball flew to and fro in the 7-goal thriller as Norstham's men overcame their highly-competitive Svalbardian opponents to prove the point that "Norstham was still not out of the game".

At 1:00 pm local time in Tiwe Park Stadium, Domanania, the men's national football teams of Norstham and Polar Svalbard met to decide who would be heading for Corindia, where the 2018 Isles Cup is being held. Svalbardian star players who had been injured in the 1-0 defeat against Weinam included forward Jonathan Barstad (hamstring injury) and midfielders Dominic Richards (hamstring injury) and Christian Kerg (malleolar injury). Ilyasov Timur, Mathias Williamsen and Geir Grieg were filling in for Barstad, Richards and Kerg respectively.

Just 16 minutes after the kick-off, the Norsans were in charge of the game. Norsan forward Krusø picked up a loose ball 35 yards out and skipped ahead without any challenge challenge before rifling a low shot into the far bottom corner of the goal post.

After half-time, Svalbardian forward Alexi Orstev was substituted with Jacob Mickelsen. In the 60th minute, the substitute's long pass was received properly by Ilyasov Timur. The Svalbardian forward glided past the very confused Norsan center-back Bærentsen and rifled a shot past goalkeeper Schrøter. And then, two minutes later, Timur was at the score sheet again. Once again, his partnership with Mickelsen proved vital. Once again, Mickelsen's cross found Timur and the Svalbardian forward slotted the ball past Schrøter. Svalbardian fans, who had been disillusioned by the absence of their star players and the first half goal by Krusø, roared back to life again with the 2-1 lead over the Norsans.

In the 65th minute, Norsan forward Myran received well from his teammate Dansson. He then made use of his strength to speed past Svalbardian center-back Sten Aaker and netted a brilliant goal beyond Svalbardian goalkeeper Raymond Heinen. The Norsan fans cheered the equalizer and cheered more three minutes later when Svalbardian midfielder Geir Grieg was booked for dumping their forward Redwood to the floor. Ten minutes later, Grieg was substituted by Alex Bennett. Norsan fans erupted into even more louder cheers a minute after the Svalbardian substitution when Myran poured forward with a curler that hit the woodwork. The ball rebounded back to Myran again; who was not going to waste a second chance and fired a more rising shot into the top right-hand corner of Heinen's net. The score was now 3-2 in favor of the Norsans again.

In the 84th minute, Svalbardian midfielder Shelepov Arseni was replaced by Kholodov Boleslaw. Barely a minute into entering the pitch, Boleslaw smartly received forward Kukane Noma's cross with his chest and struck in a brilliant goal. The possibility of a 3-3 draw and then dreaded penalties loomed for both sides. However, the game was yet to be decided. In the 90th minute, Svalbardian goalkeeper Heinen committed a grave mistake when he came out of his area and kicked the ball straight instead of clearing it far. The ball was received by Redwood, who wasted little time in curling a wonderful 40-yard lob into an empty net.

The thrilling 7-goal came to its end with Redwood's last minute goal. The two teams exchanged friendly handshakes in the aftermath. The look on the faces of the Svalbardians fans was the question "would Polar Svalbard have fared better if the main players had not been injured" but it was no doubt that replacements like Timur, the man of the match, and substitutes like Mickelsen and Boleslaw had shown among the best performances to make this match memorable. It's not an easy feat to fight 4-3, even if that is a defeat, against the defending champions and the top-ranked team of the Isles. The players of the Svalbardian team, after the spectacular performance they have displayed, will be definitely getting contract offers from the Norsan Premier League and top Gael-based clubs. The best route Polar Svalbard can take for its talented players is to let them groom in competitive foreign leagues and try better than ever before the next time.

Cosie's Football Diplomacy
Western Isles Cup offers Cosie a chance to turn up the charm

GADERINE, AR - For the first time in years, the Cosian national football team will officially take part in the IFAF Western Isles Cup 2018, one of the largest sporting events in The Western Isles.

The Crocs' journey will begin this weekend, where they will face off against their neighbours in the Central and South Mesder Sea. This year, the team won't just be competing for a berth in the finals: They'll be looking to win the hearts of Islanders all over as Cosie seeks to build on their rekindled relationship with the region.

"Cosie has always used sports as a platform for fostering international relationships."
- Terry Truheo, Cosian ambassador

"Cosie has always used sports as a platform for fostering international relationships," said Terry Truheo, a career ambassador for Cosie. Citing the numerous exhibition matches involving the national team, he believes their efforts have done wonders for the Layman Island's diplomatic work. "Our ties with such luminaries as Monaco, Artsakh, and Nauru have only strengthened thanks to the footballing events we hold together. I'm quite certain we can apply the magic of Cosian sportsmanship to our brother-nations here in the Isles."

In agreement with Truheo is Beminaire Julius, manager of the Cosian national football team. "The beautiful game has always been a great way to give the foreigners a glimpse into our own culture," Julius said in a recent interview with CoSport. "Anyone who's seen our boys in action already know what we Cosians are like as a whole: Friendly, free-spirited, and not afraid to make a fool out of anyone, even if that includes ourselves! Around us, I can assure our neighbours of nothing but good times."

That being said, the manager sternly warned his opposition not to underestimate The Crocs' sporting prowess. "Just because we Cosians like to take it easy doesn't mean we aren't dangerous on the pitch," said Julius. "At the end of the day, our boys are still playing to win, and we're not afraid to rough and tumble our way through if it helps sate our need for victory."

"But any roughness we cause, I'm sure, will be forgiven with a handshake and a smile," he quipped, ending the interview with a cheeky grin.

Though the Cosian national team can't claim to be all-conquering powerhouses in the world of football, they can still count on a number of strong players to help the country win a spot in the WIC finals. Team captain Carlos Fontana will surely appreciate having the fleet-footed Asric Casan chip in to support Cosie's offense, and vice-captain Bruce Hines-Bocarty can be readily relied upon to lead the team's defense.

Of course, all eyes will also be on talismanic striker Royce Funan as the target man attempts more goalscoring feats for the Layman Island.
