I don't see Tkachuk being taken 7th. I personally think that he will go 4th or 5th.

Buffalo could draft Gretzky and Hull and still not make the playoffs. That team is a shit show. They have less dignity than the Habs which is saying something.

First 2 picks did not surprise me. Dahlin and Svechnikov were that good.

TORONRO GETTING SANDIN. WOW.

Also, wtf were Ottawa and Montreal thinking? Montreal not getting a very skilled forward in Zadina will probably lead to another issues with Habs not being able to score. As for Ottawa, Tkachuk's a good forward, a top 6-8 range pick but 4th overall? Gotta be kidding me.

Honestly Tim Murray was the bigger problem for the sabres, as well as falling for the Eichel trap.

That's not fair. All Canadian teams barring the Leafs have shitty owners and management. That or the Leafs are just really good at spiting your typical Canadian ownership incompetence.

So apparently the draft had a deal on swedish defenseman... because we ended up with three. Also apparently the plan this offseason is to run Lehner out of town, can't say I'll miss him.

Kings sign Kovalchuk: http://www.latimes.com/sports/kings/la- ... story.html

...needing a finisher following a first-round exit, the Kings agreed to terms Saturday with the 35-year-old Kovalchuk on a three-year contract worth $18.75 million. The $6.25 million annual payout... The Kings cannot sign Kovalchuk until free agency begins July 1. But securing him sets off a chain reaction on the market and represents a bold move by the Kings in beating out reported suitors the San Jose Sharks and Boston Bruins... having won the Kontinental Hockey League’s scoring title for St. Petersburg last season, and claiming most valuable player of the 2018 Winter Olympics, which did not include NHL players... Kovalchuk is not known as a defensive player, which runs in heavy contrast to the Kings’ philosophy of two-way play. But his hands and shot mentality, alongside Kopitar and Jeff Carter, warrant the risk.

Fuck yeah! I should add that Kovalchuk is very motivated to play, as the only major title that's missing from his resume is the Stanley Cup. His other titles:

Gagarin Cup Winner, 2015 & 2017
Olympic Champion, 2018
World Championship Gold Medalist, 2008 & 2009
Euro Hockey Tour Winner, 2017

There's only one thing missing, and he wants it, badly. Did I mention that winning that also gets him into the Triple Gold Club?

I think this is a contract the Kings will regret. Kovalchuk hasn't played in the NHL for years, he's older, and the game is younger and faster than ever.

True, but he's a proven goal scorer, who's found a way to score from any position, and to top it off, he's a powerplay specialist. Also, he's only getting $6.25 million, rather than the $10 million he was offered to play for a non-contending team. He can also play 4 on 4, and 4 on 3, just ask Canada :P

Your dig might actually mean something if it wasn't referencing something from a decade ago.

Whatever Kovalchuk has done in the past, he's not that player anymore. And with so much time spent away from the NHL, I'm not sure anybody really knows what kind of player he'll be once he comes back.
