Azadistan Province

The mix of Privateers, Raiders, Insurgents grew steadily. In the province of Azadistan, propaganda pamphlets started appearing all over. Rise up throw off your masters. Bring us gold, silver, and electronics and you can be free. Escape to freedom we need you. Some of the proceeds of the raiding was used to pay off informants to watch the Munkcester colonists so the raiders would be able to show up when the military was not around and plunder where it was vulnerable. A pipeline from Azadistan where slaves and locals were offered jobs and freedom so they could clear off an area of UniversalCommons called Dodo Island which had been infested by zombies was created. The Reclamation Cooperative in UniversalCommons needed men and women to clear poisoned land. They began sending additional ships and cargo submarines to pick up escaped slaves and refugees.

More trainers from the Ghost Brigades and arms infiltrated to the Insurgents. They began training for armor kill teams where groups of six men with RPGs and planted IEDS would attack a single vehicle, as well as helicopter kill teams with shoulder launched anti-air missiles. More technicals were outfitted with antiaircraft guns and light artillery. The first appearance of air power showed up. Drones packed with explosives which could be controlled by a laptop.

Kai and his men used the proceeds of their attacks to buy two more converted submarines. Then they got a special offer, the OESW offered them two experimental concrete submarines which looked like large rocks covered by seaweed.

The Munkcestrian army followed the insurgents across the border to the refugee camps.

They were met with a variety of resistance. IEDs had been placed at strategic locations on the roads, also tank pits with water in them, and a variety of other booby traps. The insurgents tried to use RPG attack teams where they would go after armored trucks or tanks in groups of 6 with RPGs then move away. They also tried to shoot down any helicopters or jets they could spot with stinger missiles in pairs. They would retreat to prepared strong points or if it looked like they were doing poorly follow planned escape routes. The locals new the terrain very well. They used this to hide snipers, blow up bridges, attack from the high the ground, or use natural cover where they could. There were even a few technical and box truck attacks-- groups of toyotas with mortars, light artillery, or light antiaircraft weapons, and bigger flatbed trucks with hell cannons and large rocket tubes. They even used tear gas which they had acquired from police stations they had overrun. It was very much hit and run guerrilla tactics. There were no pitched battles.

When they reached the refugee camps, they found them to be not that heavily populated. There were burnt out shells of cargo helicopters which had been blown up before the army could reach them. There was also a badly damaged small cargo airship. There were mainly some older men and women who refused to leave and people who had lost hope or were unfit to fight. When questioned, they revealed that some of the refugees had fled to the mountains in caves. Others were with the insurgents being trained in the hills. Others had been taken away by helicopter, cargo plane, or big huge blimps. They heard about the promise of a new life on Dodo Island in the UniversalCommons.

Neem Ralk wanted to test out both signal jamming and electronic warfare. He had heard it was possible to force planes to land by jamming their instruments and incapacitating their electronics. Intelligence had been gathered from the war in the Levant. It had been proved possible to force cargo transports down. Increasingly, the slave transport had been moved to the sky and underwater. He had dispatched two ships with electronic warfare equipment and connections to satellite jamming technology for radio. It was not hard to get the cargo manifests with flight plans with the help of some research. They picked out a lone plane to jam both its communications and electronics. It had been forced to land on the water. Now it was a matter of making off with the cargo plane with its cargo of slaves.

We have heard word that slavery is still in practice in your country. Let it be known to you that slavery is wrong and is in violation of basic human rights. However, your ignorance to other nation’s cries have infuriated our people. Many of our citizens had endured slavery many years ago at this “Tower of Heaven” a series of R-Systems built by the Zeref Cultists that were suppose to resurrect the evil wizard, Lord Zeref, including Jellal Fernandes, one of our foreign diplomats, Shô, the Supreme Leader’s adopted brother, Simon Mikazuchi, former Governor of the Ishgar Province, and Erza Scarlet, our current Chancellor. These people would have died if not for the Cartoon Forces coming in back in 1959 and crushing the Zeref Cultists in it’s tracks. We are militarily ready for a war against slavery in the region as is within our right in the Scarlet Clause and Bazaar Collary. Our joint chiefs of staff have considered possible plans of action in the region for an invasion. However, we are giving you an ultimatum to settle things peacefully. Here are the terms,

1. You free all the remaining slaves in the country

2. You find all the slaves you have sold and free them

3. Pay each slave compensation.

5. Punish the slavers and sellers.

Neem Ralk was not sure what to do with the slaves he had captured and brought back home. The populace was getting a little bit antsy, there were a lot of Azadistanis now in the UniversalCommons. The Citizens Assembly had blocked more slaves coming into the country. They would continue to support the insurgency, but someone else would have to take in slaves. There was now an Azadistani district in Liberty City and several other towns. An entire town of Azadistanis was on Dodo Island which had been cleared of zombies and rage plague victims.
