I'm pretty sure cloning Jesus would result in at least, like, 5 whole new denominations of Christianity, Islam, and Mormonism. As well as a whole new Abrahamic religion.
sounds like fun, let's do it

It wouldn't be the same person.

Believe it or not, cloning irl doesn't work the same way it does in the movies.

Not realistic, in any way. Other than the fact that it is heresy, it is heresy, and that we aren’t sure if the holy relics are actually objects used by Him or just random things placed in by the old government of the Catholic Church back then(which is more corrupt than a Dark Eldar’s harem house). Also, it is heresy.

I don't see what good cloning Jesus would do.

You're simply recreating the same biological make-up of Jesus, by no means are you "resurrecting" him or "bringing him back from the dead".

You could do the same for Martin Luther King Jr. or Albert Einstein; however, recreating them does not guarantee that the Martin clone will be morally upstanding, or that the Albert clone will be intelligent.

Yup. Imagine someone coming to you and telling you that you were actually the clone of this or that important person who lived in the past... Would you believe that? Being cloned is not the same as being re-surrected. It's a big like being re-incarnated, so you preserve no memory of your past life, hence you'll have a hard time convincing Jesus that he is actually Jesus.

----------

Another point I am curious about concerns Christian theology, I guess. The question I have is: what makes Jesus the son of God? Is it his DNA, or something intangible, like a "soul" that God infused him with? If it is the latter, then you can't technically clone Jesus at all - I mean, at least Christians could argue that. Because you would have only cloned the physical body of Jesus, but his soul, which was crafted by God, would be missing. (Now, if you ask my personal opinion, I neither believe in a soul as distinct from the human brain, nor do I believe in Immaculate Conception. But I wanted to bring up an interesting point that comes up when you believe in these two things.)

B-but it's not as entertaining! Well, the debates are pretty funny when each candidate throws insults at each other. I guess I could settle for that.

No, no, when I mean that it wouldn't be the same person, it DNA speaking would likely not be the same person.

When a human is in development, there are a lot of DNA switches that can turn on or off more or less randomly, this is also true in cloning. You could try to clone a brown haired-blue-eyed man, but thanks to those switches (given the DNA) you could end up with say a green-eyed blonde haired man. Essentially, a different person, comparable to a fraternal twin (which, fun fact, all twins fraternal and identical are technically clones of each other).

You could try to clone Jesus, but you'd only make his twin. Either identical or fraternal, and as far as I'm aware there's no way to really control how those switches work.

-----------------------------

Oh no, it's much more...intellectually intense than that. The thing is, Jesus existed co-eternally with God the Father, as God the Son, in fact Jesus is God along with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. In Christian doctrine it is heavily emphasized that the Son was not a created being, but co-eternal with the Father, and was made incarnate as a human through the power of the Holy Spirit in Mary. So...No, Christians would say His soul wasn't created.

I know how much of a mind-bender that is, but trust me that's as simple as I can make it lol.

There's several different claims of holy foreskins so you can't know for sure if any of them are true. After "resurrecting" Jesus we'd still have no way of knowing if that was actually his foreskin. Besides that, the clone would grow up as a unique person and wouldn't give any insight into who the actual Jesus was.

I think the idea of cloning humans is wrong. The only benefit of cloning would be to use them in labs in the place of animals. Curing human diseases would be much easier this way. The problem is that this is essentially slavery. Clones would have the same human DNA and so should be treated as human.

Clones are also not much different from twins, humans that have the same DNA. I don't know what we could really gain from cloning humans without doing deeply immoral tests in labs.

But would it really be Jesus, I mean part of the supposed thing of him being Jesus was his life experiences.

Even if he had supposedly Holy DNA in modern ages he most likely would result in a normal life... well mostly normal, Jesus was kind of weird at times.

I had the same thought. For the curious, the episode in question is "Rightful Heir", season 6, episode 23.
