D'Souza pleaded guilty in 2014 to reimbursing two of his associates after directing them to contribute $10,000 each to the 2012 Senate campaign of Wendy Long. He also admitted that he knew what he was doing violated the law.

It would be interesting to see what the people shrieking about how Roseanne's firing is a suppression of free speech think about the NFL's new anthem rules.

ABC made the wrong decision in cancelling Roseanne if it still had high ratings and presumably was still profitable. Every TV station is about ratings and money in the end. There were plenty of options short of cancelling the show immediately, if they just didn't want to work with Roseanne Barr anymore. They could've killed her character off and continued it without her, or wrapped that season up. They could've brought in someone else named Roseanne. They could've renamed the show or gradually changed it to something else. Shame that because of one person misbehaving in their free time, 400+ other people or so, are out of work.

People wanting to hire her, should've known that Roseanne Barr has had an unstable personality ever since surviving a car wreck (allegedly).

While I appreciate the sudden and rather forced concern about people in my profession that's all of sudden pouring out from people trying to find a way to defend racist comments, there's a few things.

First, as someone mentioned, we are all freelancers. Our days are never guaranteed. We lose work for all sorts of reasons. Hell, last year I lost a pretty sweet reality gig because the star of that show didn't report the income from the show and went to jail. No one cried for me then, and they shouldn't. I just went and worked on other shit. Like these guys will. Most of them are IATSE, they'll be fine. Most shows haven't started shooting yet, there's still time to staff up somewhere else. I hear ABC has an open time slot available for a new show...

Second, Carsey-Werner owns the show. You can't actually do it without them. They could take the show somewhere else, like what happened to Last Man Standing or Brooklyn 99, but they can't do the show without her, she's an executive producer.

In fact, ABC not owning the show means that they're not the one taking the biggest hit for this. They're losing potential ad revenue that they'll make up with whatever else will go in that slot. While they won't be able to charge as much, they also won't be spending as much on the show and advertisers, some of which were already trepidatious about advertising on her show, will be more willing to buy time on something not constantly playing with fire. The real money the show would make would come after ABC and the initial ad buys and instead on syndication and secondary market sales. Carsey-Warner stands to lose more than ABC.

Finally, ABC is looking into a project that would involve the remaining cast and crew. But again, it's the nature of our business that tomorrow is never guaranteed.

So while I appreciate the sudden overwrought concern, which has largely come from people who with their other breath have delighted at the idea that my entire state slide into the ocean or everyone in my industry curl up and die, everyone's going to be fine. Better off than they would have been working for someone constantly trying to torpedo her own success.

Team owners are investors that own the revenue generation of a team's brand.

Think of it like a franchised burger joint. The team owner is the franchise holder, the NFL is McDonald's Corporation.

The owner might have some leeway, but ultimately if the way the store is ran is in accordance with McDonald's policy.
