By weighing in, Trump is once again at odds with his own press secretary. On Tuesday, when Sarah Sanders was asked for Trump's view about the cancellation, Sanders said "that's not what the president is looking at. That's not what he's spending his time on. And I think that we have a lot bigger things going on in the country right now, certainly that the President is spending his time when it comes to policy."

Sanders was responding to Rep. Trey Gowdy's (R-S.C.) comments that "the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do" by having a confidential source speak with Trump campaign associated who were suspected of having contacts with Russians during the 2016 election.

In order to justify Trump's belief the FBI acted improperly, Sanders cited the dismissal of the bureau's deputy director Andrew McCabe.

McCabe was forced out of the agency in part over watchdog report blaming him for a media leak about the Hillary Clinton email probe, and not the Russia investigation.

"Certainly, the president has concerns about the overall conduct of the FBI," Sanders said.

"They helped us, so it stands to reason they were secretly helping Obama/Clinton the entire time..."
