Just realized that my face claim for Alexis looks kinda tom boyish.

I think that works though.

Updated faceclaim index with Alexis and Lucas, after Zark informed me what obscure anime characters they are supposed to be

For some reason I remember the face or hair being more feminine or something.

But this works for me actually. I have been toying with ideas on how she thinks of herself in terms of her physical appearance and attractiveness to potential ships ect.

Psychotic Dictatorship

Might as well make this thing official.

Name: The Republic of Ecuador (casual names: Ecuador or Condor Ecuador)
Type: Country
Location:
Image

Population: 16,385,068 (2016 est.)
Notable features:
  • Ecuador is the world's first superhuman dictatorship - the country's original and central superhero team, the Andean Condors, executed a coup of the government in 1997 to remove what they believed to be an inefficient, corrupt and nepotic human government and installed themselves in power, an act which rings in debates over superhuman rights and superhuman regulations to this day. Some believe that the Condors did the right thing, while others portray it as an example of how dangerous superhumans could be if left unchecked. Despite a number of coup and assassination attempts, the Condor government has lasted for over 20 years and has gained the support of the people.
  • Ecuador's government structure is authoritarian and has little basis in established former constitutional law. The Andean Condors represent the nation in foreign affairs and control a small puppet human government to handle domestic affairs. There is a little bit more freedom at the lowest branches of the government, like specific agencies or local government structures, which are only tenuously overseen, but the legislative, executive and judiciary functions of the state are firmly in the team's hands. The leader of the team, Silver, real name Sergio Martinez, is the official head of state of the nation, holding the title of President of Ecuador. Silver and the rest of his team can release laws by decree, and being a superhero team, they also take care of major crime across the nation, allowed to execute justice without the need of court or government interference, because they are the government.
  • Ecuador certainly cannot be called a model state or a paradise, but Condor rule has generally been a good thing for the country. Before the takeover, Ecuador may have been a competent state in South America standards, but it was reliant on oil exports, poor, with massive societal rifts and an uncompetitive economy. Condor rule has stabilized the situation in the country, swept it of major drug cartels, gangs and mercenary superhuman teams which have been doing a lot of trouble to the rest of South America. Ecuador's biggest problem has always been relative diplomatic isolation - even today, a number of countries, mainly other dictatorships, do not recognize the current government as legitimate - however, the situation began to repair itself during the 2000s, when the initial hatred towards the new regime calmed down and the West restored relations with the country. Ecuador was only mildly affected by the recession of 2008, as its trade links with the US were still tenuous at best, and while the rest of the New World stumbled, it continued to grow, inviting investment from North America and the EU to develop its high-tech sectors, establish local oil refineries, increase the efficiency of the nation's agriculture, so on and so forth. Today, Ecuador is the wealthiest country in South America by GDP per capita, although still rivaled by Chile and Uruguay, and its real GDP growth rates are among the highest in the world.
  • For obvious reasons, Condor Ecuador is among the champions of the worldwide superhuman rights movement. Of course, the past with its rounding-up of heroes and the Vigilante Crusade before the Superhuman Rights act is long gone, but some animosity towards "those freaks" remains - but not in Ecuador. Here, a combination of thorough education and daily exposure to superhuman leadership has practically eliminated anti-super animosity from public view - supers can be free from any prejudice and are under no threat, as long as they do not speak out against the government. In addition, to strengthen its standing overseas as well as reduce its isolation in the world, Ecuador uses covert operations for "fight for superhuman rights" worldwide, sometimes legally, sometimes not so much. Pro-super Representatives and Senators in the US occasionally receive generous donations from clandestine Ecuadorian donors, as well as Chinese superhuman dissidents, just to give a few examples. This way, Ecuador is a big thorn in the side of human supremacist organizations such as Lycan, and there's plenty of proof that this clandestine cabal is funding anti-government teams in Ecuador.
Year founded:
  • Independence declared: 1809
  • Andean Condors take over government: 1997
Active heroes/villains of note:

Andean Condors
Originally founded in 1994 by a group of young Ecuadorian superheroes, the Condors have become famous, or infamous, for the 1997 Ecuador coup d'etat and the following 20 years of ruling the country as an oligarchic dictatorship. The composition of the team changes very occasionally, and the only requirement for membership is being a citizen of Ecuador.

Location: Quito
Area of Influence: Ecuador, and occasionally nearby countries
Leader: Silver
Members:
  • Sergio Martinez - Silver
Abilities: metal liquidation and liquid metal manipulation
  • Emanuel Andrade - Goldilocks
    Ability: comakinesis (hair manipulation)
  • Carolina Tamayo - Plague Doctor
    Ability: bacterial manipulation, bacteria-based healing
  • Gabriel Velázquez - Boulder
    Ability: Juggernaut Momentum
  • Olivia Santángel - RADAR
    Ability: Electric field sensing
  • Former member: Renata Martinez - Laser Girl/Stella
    Ability: quantum metastable physiology
I have a severe case of addiction to writing. At least 3k words every day is my fix.

(This roleplay has caught my intrigue, and so I am going to make an app. The app is done mostly in character. Also, as an aside - even though I'm applying now, I probably won't be able to post right away. I'll be working on one as much as I am able to, but probably won't post until this weekend.)

Name: “My real name is rather unimportant. I get around, though; and I know some pretty big people. Currently, I go by Lucina DeVille. Call me Lucy, if you want.”
Age: “I'm actually quite a bit older than I look, but for now, let's go with twenty-ish.”
Gender: “I believe the correct term is 'female', but you should know that. Then again, maybe you're more polite than I thought.”
Race: “Well, I suppose some might call me one thing or another. Some people call me a demon, but I'm just a girl who wants to have fun, y'know?”
Appearance:You have my photograph, don't you?
Young Blood?: “No, I'm not associated with them. I am my own person.”
Bio: “Well, let me see. Alright, so, a long time ago there was this architect. Hold on, hold on, I'm getting there. Don't rush a lady, jeez. Anyway, this architect - he built a silver city, an entire city just for his family and his subjects. One day, one of his sons decides to lead a rebellion and, well, Big Man doesn't like that and tosses the son out. Of course, he tosses him into this slum shithole of a city - one of the numerous cities like it, in fact. Judgy bastard.

“Anyway, this man - let's call him Mr. Morningstar, yeah? - he builds this city up. He helps sponsor the other cities. And he puts people in charge of them because he runs them both inside and out. My father was one of them, you could say. Anyways, so, I've been around for a while and I've helped run one of those shitholes. But it gets so fucking boring, ya know? Just dealing with the worst of the worst people day in and day out. I got sick of it.

“So now I'm here. And I'm starting to like it here. It's a lot of fun, actually. People are a bit entertaining, sometimes. And boy oh boy, is it ever a different set of conversations I have with people that end up in my city up here before they, er, move. Point is, I'm having fun and I intend to stick around for a while.”
Powers:
  • Hellfire: Lucina has the ability to generate and control fire. But it isn't normal fire; it somehow burns hotter and, if someone is singed by it, it makes one feel guilty for their sins and makes them feel like they're going to be punished.
  • Demonic Physiology: Lucina is somewhat demonic in nature, but it isn't a normal type of demon. There's something less unholy about it. She has this natural allure that seems to suggest something else otherworldly going on. She can heal from most injuries faster than a human can, and is pretty tough to boot.

Limitations:
  • Holy Warding: Holy weapons, magic, shields, etc. can withstand attacks from her Hellfire or other demonic abilities.
  • Mortality: By taking human form to live among the humans, even if she is demonic in nature she is still mortal like most other humans. If something injures her severely enough, or a holy/unholy weapon is used against her to generate a fatal wound, she will be forced to leave her mortal host body. Because she's human aside from her demonic nature, she has many human weaknesses.

Weaknesses:
  • Demonic/Unholy Weaponry: Pretty self-explanatory.
  • Angelic/Holy Weaponry: Also pretty self-explanatory.
  • Human Physiology: Her human host body has standard human physiology - using one of her weaknesses against her or causing significant injury before she can heal herself will kill her, likely banishing her back to where she came from.

Likes: “I like drugs, sex and rock'n'roll.” A bit of amused laughter. “But, in all seriousness, I do find myself enjoying music and playing around with other people. It's a bit entertaining; nowhere near as boring as my hometown.”
Dislikes: “Ugh. I hate being told what to do, absolutely hate it. Also, I hate anything or anyone who claims to be 'perfect' - just so snobbish and annoying, y'know? And I don't really get along well with many of my siblings or my subjects, despite the latter usually knowing their place. Ah, c'est la vie.”

Additional Information
Birthday: “A girl doesn't kiss and tell, you know.”
Theme song: “I've always liked The Devil in I, or maybe Genie in a Bottle. I can't really choose.”
Favorite food: “I don't have one. Food, in general, is wonderful. Well, except fast food. Fast food is trash and those people who make it deserve where they end up, haha!”
Greatest fear: “Going back to my city. I hated that slum. I want to stay here. And some of my siblings are pretty scary, sometimes, I guess. Of course, my single greatest fear overall is dying.”

(Other Sidenote: not actually 'the Devil' or his/her vessel; just a demon Lord of Hell who likes to mess with people.)

Looks fine. Though a fair warning, if you don't join up with the Young Bloods, you're probably going to have to be making your own entertainment.

I understand. Might use NPCs or something if that's okay - or maybe make a secondary character to be one of the Young Bloods so that I can interact with others while Lucina does her own thing. I dunno which, yet.

You're free to use NPCs so long as you don't kill them. I would recommend it, though it's not required.

That's definitely pretty odd, though certainly within the realm of reason. As a concept it's fine.

Am going to need a race app here, is this just a regular scorpion? Or a humanoid version? Would like a race app to answer these questions

Name: Steven Baker / fmr. alias Calculator
Age: 39
Gender: M
Race: Human (super)
Appearance (pics if possible):
Image

Young Blood?: No (supporter)
Bio:

Steven Joseph Baker II was born to a middle class white American nuclear family in Fresno, California, and lived a fairly normal, uneventful early life - looked after by his mother while his father, a car mechanic, made the dough for the family. Everything was going well and fine and dandy and whatever other adjective you want to use to describe a comfortable life, until Steven entered primary school in his home area, which is where weird things started to happening. Since his very first day, he was the absolute best student among all of the first-years, often able to solve advanced mathematical problems without even knowing the mechanics behind them yet, instead powering through with sheer analysis and processing of probability. Though, at first, his teachers just chalked it down to Steven being a gifted kid, as time went, his capabilities became even more visible, which led to his class, his students and soon his parents to come to the conclusion that this was a superhuman they were in front of.

Though many of his classmates would end up bullying him for being a "nerdy freak", his parents were more accepting, and even proud that the Baker family has such a smart child. As time went on and more grades flew by without really challenging Steven, the boy began to take interest in a few specific fields - physics and mathematics, both of which he excelled at above everyone else in the entire state of California thanks to his superpowers being especially useful there. Everything was looking up. Unfortunately, his stellar rise ended up attracting the interest of the Excelsior corporation, and on one day, retuning from school on foot, the 14 year old Steven was suddenly kidnapped by a few shady grunts and dragged to Arizona, where he had to suffer a year of torture, experiments and tests at the hands of the corporation's scientists, trying to upgrade him into a living weapon and discover the origin source of superpowers.

By the time the LA Stars arrived to the facility and broke him and the other kids out, Steven was completely traumatized by the experience - and this trauma turned into a resolve to make sure this horror does not happen to anyone ever again. Along with five other young superhumans, he joined the Wonder Warriors, taking on the mantle of the analyst hero, "Calculator", with a fancy costume to go with that. Thanks to his enhanced memory and stellar probability calculation, Calculator became the brain of the team, spending most of his time resolving unsolvable crimes and analyzing opponents before them to help his more physically powerful allies take care of the situation. Though he was certainly a helpful asset to the team, Calculator still felt a sense of... inability to achieve his resolve. He did not enact revenge on the world which turned him like so, his friends did, and he just stood at the side, watching and giving snacks on a silver platter (not exactly like that, but you get the point). The commercialization of the Wonder Warriors ended up worrying him, too - and in one night, Steven collapse to his bed on Wonder Island with a bunch of facts he had gathered over the years, and after a brief analysis of probability, he came to the conclusion that one day, this surge of fame and notoriety will collapse and a much more powerful team of villains would end up wiping them out.

And what do you know, after sleeping for a few hours, Steven woke up to an alarm informing that the Reckoning has breached the island's defenses and have engaged the rest of the Wonder Warriors. That was the second time in his life that he lost everything to the brutality of a world he could not affect. Alongside Voice, Calculator helped evacuate the civilians on the island while the rest diverted their attention, and as a result, they were the only members of the team who lived that day, forever known as the Young Blood Massacre. The team collapsed. Voice went on to work as a superhero by herself, contacts between her and Calculator faded, and Steven resolved that the work of being a hero is not for him. Not for a teenager. Leave it to the pros, He'll go and have that normal life he lost five years ago instead.

Thankfully, unlike some other members of the team, Steven never revealed his secret identity, and as his superpower could easily be mistaken for just being a bright kid, all he needed was to change his haircut and clothing to blend back in to normal society.

Steven finished a high school in Los Angeles, making up for all the years he lost while imprisoned or in Wonder Island, then went on to study in the University of California. But what to choose? Physics or math? With a coin flip, Steven chose physics, and thus this was the career he pursued for the rest of his life. After six years of studies, he acquired a doctorate with honors and moved to San Diego, where he was employed to Thomsen High, a school promoting coexistence between humans, supers and non-humans alike, as a physics teacher, where he has been working since. Students and other teachers have come to respect Steven as a teacher who may appear soft and friendly on the outside, but is very demanding and knowledged once you get to know him. Always looking at himself as the standard, he seeks the most he can possibly achieve from his students, especially from ones showing promise, but rarely attempts to overwork them - from each according to his ability, after all.

After a yet another successful school year finished, Steven took a long awaited and deserved three week vacation to the Bahamas, but after his return, uncomfortable news awaited him - the formation of the Young Bloods, a young hero team clearly composed of his students. And they used the name of the massacre which took away four of his friends. Faced with this reality, the old wounds of the past, held tightly deep in his heart for years, have returned, and Steven has retreated to his thoughts, thinking how to confront the members of the team on their actions and... name choice once they finally return to Thomsen High.
Powers:
  • Accelerated Probability Analysis: Steven's primary superpower is all in his head - quite literally. The speed of processing in his brain is many, many times faster than that of even the smartest normal humans, and even surpassing any non-futuristic supercomputers, allowing Steven to process myriads of possibilities and probably outcomes of this or that event in mere seconds, bringing a number of benefits. Back during his time as a member of the Wonder Warriors, he was the team's brain, adept in tactical analysis, processing various patterns, probabilities, useful in detective work, etc. Now, as a physics teacher, he uses his power much more casually - analyzing the reasons why a specific student is underperforming and what could be done to fix that, what should the best tests be for this specific class, so on and so forth.
  • Enhanced Memory: To strengthen Steven's superpowers during their experiments, Excelsior scientists fiddled with his brain, adding an enhanced capability to memorize faces, events and facts, among other things, to Steven's power loadout. This plays off well with his analysis capabilities - you wouldn't want to forget important clues or facts while analyzing who could have killed this random bloke off the street five months ago, right?

This also means that Steven will never be able to forget the Young Blood massacre... which sucks.
  • Enhanced Physical Condition: As a result of the horrendous experiments he suffered at the hands of Excelsior, trying to bring out the maximum abilities of superhumans and discovering the origin of superpowers, Steven's physical condition has been increased past peak human levels. It's nothing steel-breaking or bullet-deflecting, but important regardless.

Limitations:
  • Analysis, Not Knowledge: It should be noted that Steven's power does not grant him precognition or endless knowledge about every single possible variable at play in any given situation. He is still limited to what a human is able to uncover and learn. This means that Steven's power is especially weakened by the concept of chaos theory - the idea in modern sciences that the outcomes of events involving large amounts of variables, such as the weather, are physically impossible to predict. So don't ask him about the weather.
  • Physicals: Steven can, at most, lift and throw a moderately large car with some struggling, and take a few more 9mm bullets before collapsing than average.

Weaknesses:
  • Not bulletproof: Self-explanatory.
  • No ranged capabilities: If you're standing 50 feet away and sending ranged attacks his way, there is little he can do about it.

Likes: Reading, spending time alone, detective TV shows, science magazines
Dislikes: Obnoxious students, academic seminars, students saying "why should I learn physics, I'll be a humanitarian" (now that really gets on his nerves)

Additional Information-
Birthday: April 21st, 1979
