WORLD BOWL XXXV (35)

“Welcome back to Newmanistan!”

The Empire of Newmanistan is honored to host World Bowl 35, the premier tournament for the sport that is referenced as multiple things, but most will call it gridiron or football. We thank the members of the World Bowl Committee that voted for our bid and hope to still have the confidence of those who did not.

There are 42 nations that have signed up for the tournament. Here is a list of those that will be participating!

Those 42 nations will be placed into seven groups of 6 when the group draw takes place at about 9pm Eastern Daylight Time on Friday, June 1st. The first game will be played on Sunday, June 3rd. Cutoffs will be between 9pm-10pm EDT daily.

What should you do now?
Create a roster! Football/Gridiron rosters tend be large, so there are a few options:
A) Go all out and give us incredible detail about almost everything. Like this

B) Provide the entire roster. Like this

C) Tell us the starters Like this

Naturally, the more detail provided, the higher the roster bonus will be.

When creating a roster, also create the RP Permissions box. This tells the other nation what you permit and don’t permit in regards to RP if they are the one to roleplay your game first.

Code: Select all
RP Permissions
Choose my scorers:
Godmod scoring events:
RP injuries to my players:
Godmod Injuries to my players:
Suspend my players:
Godmod suspension events:
Godmod other events:

Next, begin roleplaying at anytime. Take a look at the World Bowl 34 thread to get an idea of how to roleplay, if you want. There are many different ways to go about it, and all styles are appreciated. Roleplaying helps your chances of getting more favorable results, but there are three critical components to getting better results: rank, roleplay, and randomness.

Rank- Nations who have participated in prior World Bowls have built up a rank value for their national program.

Roleplay- By roleplaying, you increase your chances of winning, as each RP is evaluated and scored, with that score added to the rank value within xkoranate. However, in evaluating RP, quality is valued more then quantity. So, if you post five roleplays in one day that could have been put into one post, it is evaluated as one roleplay and not five. Quality does not mean “the longer the better”, either. Shorter RP’s can receive high scores as well, depending on the content. A good thing to do is to make use of your opponents roster when RP’ing, and put as much effort as to mentioning their players as you do your own. Naturally RP Permissions (covered above) is a big factor, but if you roleplay a game recap against an opponent that has a roster, and I keep reading “the quarterback/ the running back” for the opponent and never the provided names, that will be considered in the scoring evaluation. Simply interacting with fellow competitors is a great way to go.

Randomness: Scores are still generated in a random manner. Rank and roleplaying increases your chance of getting a better result, but it does not guarantee it. Every now and then, we all have a result or two that makes us grumble inside.

Feel free to ask me any questions via TG, or ask them in the World Bowl Discussion Thread.

Get to know Newmanistan

The playoffs for World Bowl 35 and the big game itself are being held in Newmanistan, and this may mean people from your country are interested in coming here. There is a lot more to do then just watch football/gridiron/hoofball/handegg/sarzoball/etc, so don’t just come for the game, make a vacation out of it! Here are the answers to some questions that you may have!

A) What is the government structure? Are there any strange laws I need to worry about?

Newmanistan is an Empire, and is ruled by Emperor Michael V. But don’t let that get you into thinking that we are some crazy dictatorship. The Emperor is well aware that nations in this day and age that still have an imperial structure can get a bad rep. While the Emperor is responsible for making all the laws, they are not much different then you will see in democratic type nations. People are free to live their own lives, and as long as they don’t break any of the reasonable laws, the government is out of their hair. Many cities are led separately by people approved by the Emperor. In some cases, the Emperor will allow for there to be a vote in a smaller election, just as long as the candidates are pre-approved.

There are no strange laws to worry about, but you may want to know that there is something that is not a law here. Newmanistan is famous for the automobile history, and “rocket powered” engines (the origin of the Rockets moniker for our teams), so therefore we allow those engines to live to their full potential. In other words, there are no speed limits on any of our roads. If you are afraid to drive on these roads, you can feel free to use a readily accessible system of public transport.

Anything that is a law in our country is likely a law in many other countries. One thing to note though is that punishments for law breakers are far more strict here. While in Newmanistan, your citizens are bound by Newmanistanian law at all times.

B) What about the economy? Social freedoms, and the like?

Newmanistan prides itself on having an economy that is so good many call it “Frightening”. Taxes exist, but are minuscule.

Social freedoms can be hit and miss in regards to what the Emperor will do, and what won’t be done. Freedom of speech, religion, and of the press are all held dear. Discrimination on the basis of gender, race, religion, or sexual preference is illegal. On the other hand, social welfare programs are minimal.

C) Tell me about the cities!

Pocono City- This is the capital of the Empire, as well as the largest city. It is located in the south central portion of the Empire, on the banks of the Penthoria River. There isn’t anything that you will not be able to find here. Older and younger crowd are attracted here, corporate headquarters are all over, and of course you have the Royal Castle. Tours of the castle and the city in general are offered at a 35% discount for all fans coming from a nation participating in the knockout stages of the tournament, or of a group stage opponent within the group stage. While you are here, you may want check out the World Baseball Classic Hall of Fame right here in Pocono City. (USA Equivalent Comparison- New York City with a touch of Washington, DC governmental influence).

Stadium: Emperor Michael I arena, Capacity- 72,400

This is beautiful state of the art facility, named after the first ever Emperor of Newmanistan.

Loudon- This is a large city in the Northeastern corner of the Empire that takes pride in being the main rival of Pocono City in just about everything one can think of. It’s got a bit of a younger demographic then does Pocono City, and considers itself to be the most sports-crazed city in Newmanistan. That is certainly debatable, but recent trends have backed it up. The city lacks some of the more touristy destinations, but there are plenty of sports bars and clubs to give your fans plenty of what they are coming here for in the first place. (USA Equivalent Comparison- Boston).

Stadium: “The Jungle”, Capacity- 64,120

It’s not the biggest sradium, and that’s a good thing, because this place gets so loud, it can be a madhouse. Initially it was called, simply Loudon Stadium, but when Michael IV years ago opted to rename stadiums and arenas, he opted to simply call it what had always been it’s nickname: “The Jungle”. Gets the nickname for two reasons, the first being the noise level, and the second being that the home teams are the Loudon Leopards.

Tundra Falls- In itself, there’s nothing all that extraordinary about the city of Tundra Falls. It’s a large city about 80 miles northwest of Pocono City, and is known more for its unique sporting facility. Special things happen here, but probably not anything that your fans will notice. It is the home of the Proving Grounds. (USA Equivalent- Indianapolis)

Stadium: Tundra Falls Proving Grounds (Football Stadium Capacity- 82,000. Overall Facility Capacity in excess of 1,000,000 with overflow options).

So, what is the Proving Grounds? On a small scale, it is the place where all youth sports or scholastic sports hold their championship games. It has everything, first there is modern baseball stadium, with a capacity around 50,000. Beside it, an equivalent stadium for football, soccer, or lacrosse. Beside that, there’s this 22,100-seat arena for basketball or hockey, as well as an aquatic facility, and a track and field facility. That’s not all..... Because all of that is in the middle of a 3.5 mile superspeedway for auto racing.

For a large international event, like the final for this tournament, when the Arena sells out, fans can then sit in the stands of the auto racing facility and watch the game on large television monitors. No, they won’t be inside the arena, but they can be part of the experience.

But wait, there’s more: It is Newmanistanian legend (and RP’d to be fact; as many of the spirits are known to be legends of sports who have passed on), that the Proving Grounds are overseen by spirits, known as the Spirits of Tundra Falls. When an athlete gets a lucky break in an event, they can thank the spirits. So, if Newmanistan catches a lucky break here, you may know why it happened. This goes the other way, too, as those who are not respectful, including Newmanistanians, of the spirits, can see their luck become poor real quick.

Jessicaville- Back in the day, Newmanistan was part of a region known as One Big Island, and was bordered to the east by the nation of Secristan. We had a good sporting rivalry, football included, but when Secristan ceased to exist, Newmanistan annexed their former national capital, which was known to them, as Amherst. However, when we took it over, we declared its new name to be Jessicaville, in honor of Empress Jessica I, who was the ruler at the time. Now that many years have gone by, it’s become just another Newmanistanian city but its history is a lot different. (USA Equivalent- Pretend Toronto about 100 years after the USA hypothetically took it over).

Stadium: Empress Jessica I Stadium. Capacity- 87,000

A large stadium with more luxury boxes then normal. In fact, 14,000 of that capacity consists of luxury box seating. Ticket prices and concession prices are very high.

Those are the four primary cities hosting games. However these four will also host first round games.

Southport- Keisler Stadium (Capacity- 68,250), SW Newmanistan, USA Equivalent- Los Angeles
Centralia- Centralia Stadium (Capacity- 66,770), Central Newmanistan, USA Equivalent- Detroit (without the crime and rundown buildings)
Putnam Lake- McAllister Stadium (Capacity- 58,020), SW Newmanistan, USA Equivalent- San Diego
Olympia- Gladiator Stadium (Capacity- 61,660), NW Newmanistan, USA Equivalent- Portland, OR.

Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.

Singular/Plural nonsapient: Kermanic
Note: When a verb can logically only be done by the sapient using/piloting/holding the object in question, then the appropriate demonym for the number of sapients is used.

Capitalism, Socialism, and Communism are ECONOMIC SYSTEMS. Stop conflating them with political systems.

Quote of the Week: "A NEW STORY ON WRITING THREAD FOR HALLOWEEN!! MYSTERY MINE AVAILABLE NOW!"

RPs I do
- How do you do fellow kids? You want to see something violent? - Artemis: Deimos Trafficking League (Horror/Mature)
- Descend into the forgotten tourist traps of Florida on this transgressive RP! - The Community (Mature/Black Comedy/Slice-of-Life)

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.

World Bowl XXX Champions

Name: Grid Corps
Colors: Black with Crimson trim
Denonyms: Drawkian or Drawkish, personal preference
EIGHTH World Bowl, Rank #4
Manager: Sam Willis
Head Coach: Quentin Averfel
Coordinators:
[O] Alex Gerhardt
[D] Mathis Southers
[ST] George Lindholm

The former champions of the World Bowl (XXX), the Grid Corps is practiced and prepared for this edition ... and hopes to repeat the success for edition XXXV. They are ready to win more championships, and to beat up on smaller teams on the way. The Grid Corps is strong and ready for anything. Despite some major changes, additions, and subtractions from the roster, the Corps knows they have more star power and can be successful.

ROSTER / DEPTH CHART
Here's the roster containing the names, numbers, and notes for each player. Players are listed in depth chart order.

As far as player rotation goes, generally the starters will go the entire match unless cases of injury or fatigue, obviously. At quarterback, Dak Waterman will start the game, and Dustin Beck will take over at half, provided the game is off to a decent start. In cases where the team is losing big in the 4th or needs a score to win, Waterman will likely be put back in. At halfback, Jack Hoy will go for most of the game, except on short 3rd and 4th downs where Antonio Anders will be in. The lesser receivers (below Miller in the depth chart) will shuffle between drives and periods at random, depending on which player want to be in the most. Starting linemen will generally play the whole game. Defensively, the secondary will shuffle after the half on occasion. Some of the front 7 will shuffle as well, but generally Cross, Tomek, and Masters will always be in. Punters generally trade off punts. Watts always kicks field goals and Stig always does kickoffs.

99 Theo Killian Very strong, very large, very hard hitter. However, lacks a good amount of awareness.

RE
77 Leo Cross Absolute monster. Relentless, tireless, strong and fast. Impossible to contain. Constant pressure.
79 Matthew Alessi Rookie player. Very good fundamentals. Smaller, can easily escape double teams.

LOLB
54 Edmund Snyder Smaller and speedier, not quite enough to be a CB. Good in coverage and on the blitz.

30 Osman Oswald Very good in all kinds of coverage. Very good against deep passes. Good open-field tackles.
36 Robert Lim Great nickel corner. Hits home very often on corner blitzes. Great for run defense.
31 Lenox Daley Rookie player. One of the best at baiting quarterbacks, gets many picks. Needs experience.

35 Dan Teodor Very good on run defense and in open field pursuit. Not easily juked on. Pass defense to be desired.

FS
20 Ross Sterling Decent for safety blitzes. Reads plays very well. Fast, good hands, nearly a WR. Good against deep threats.

SPECIAL TEAMS
#	NAME NOTES

K
7 Matthew Watts Most reliable kicker out there. Amazing range, and pinpoint accuracy. Responds well to pressure. Starting PK.
1 Raleigh Stig Largest range of any kicker, but accuracy isn't as up to snuff. Starting Kickoff Specialist.

P
8 Jason McFarland Specialty punter. Good leg, good accuracy, has a variety of kicks. Can also throw good balls for fake punts.
2 Vander Levy Big leg, and reasonably good accuracy. Not too crafty, and can't improvise very well.

LS
50 Eric Sanders Starting long snapper. Very accurate and reliable snaps, makes holders' jobs easy.
55 Gordon Shiva Second long snapper in case Sanders is injured. Passable long snapper but not his forte.

H
4 Dustin Beck When Dak Waterman is starting, Beck holds for field goals. Mobile, great for fakes.
10 Zac Gold When Dustin Beck is starting, Gold is the holder. Very good set of hands, never misplaces the ball.

KR/PR
49 Jack Hoy Generally returns kickoffs. Fast, small, zippy, hard to pin down. Can fit through small gaps.
89 Daniel Madison Generally returns punts. Smart, fast, tall. Can shed tackles easily and even jump over players if needed.

STRATEGY
The name of the game for the Grid Corps is aggression and power.

The offense of the Grid Corps is balanced, splitting up responsibilities for yardage between running and passing plays. None is really favored over the other, since everybody on the team is good, but in crunch time situations, they're likely to pass more than run (although running is still used to keep the defense honest). The base formation is usually a shotgun with the running back lining up a couple steps behind and right of the quarterback. The I formation is common, especially on third down and in the red zone. The pistol is also common, as well as a Pro Set or an H-back. The likely personnel for a given play would be RB-TE-TE-WR-WR, or RB-FB-TE-WR-WR. While they're run plays in the spread offense or in a singleback or power formation, it's not as common. Flea flickers, double passes, options, double/triple/quadruple handoffs, jet sweeps, all potential plays you can see coming from the Corps. They love to fake out defenses and woo the crowd with their antics, and so don't be surprised if you team sees them. Most running plays go outside the tackles unless the team they're playing can't cover the inside or far outside. Zone running and power running are evenly split. Starting HB prefers power runs despite excelling at zone, so it's usually either-or. Fullback-led runs are also very common, especially on third down and in the red zone. A very common play is a triple option out of the I formation: it could be a fullback handoff, a halfback pitch, or a quarterback keeper. The Wildcat formation always shows up a couple times a game, especially if the opposing defense can't stop it. Pitch plays are also used a lot in the red zone. Passing plays have a lot of elements, but the most common ones are horizontal routes rather than vertical. The Grid Corps' go-to passing play features a tight end running a flat slant, another TE running a mid-yardage corner route, an HB running a flat or wheel route, a WR streaking, and a WR running a dig or out route. Deep plays are only called when the coverage is just right, and even then there's 2 or even 3 checkdown routes slanting underneath. Deep routes are generally only thrown to on 3rd-and-30+ plays or when a team's defense is awful enough to easily give them up. When the game is tight, the Corps is excellent at the hurry-up offense, having a deep playbook to constantly keep the defense off guard.

The defense is also aggressive. Blitzing is very, very common, as the defense is fearless. Even on non-blitz plays, the defensive linemen go all out, and if a player's zone is totally empty, they'll start rushing to the pocket as well. Man blitzes on first down are a regularity, but you likely won't see more than 3 non-linemen blitzing on a play (unless it's goalline, of course). When an opposing offense is stuck inside the five, the Corps will likely come out with everyone except the safeties blitzing. Scoring safeties are the pride of the Grid Corps, and thus they'll go for it as much as possible. They'll also pack the line on the other goalline inside the five, but if a team is Down and Goal outside of the 7 or 8, they're likely to just pack the end zone with as many defensive backs as possible. When not in goalline formation, they'll usually opt for a 4-man rush. 4-3 is incredibly common unless they have a spy play going on or are trying to run a Prevent play. The Nickle and even Quarter formations are also seen a few times per drive. In general, the Corps plays zone defense, usually a cover 3. Their default play is a Cover 3 where the linebackers and corners have 4 zones underneath and the obvious 3 DBs deep with the 4-man rush. However, usually they'll start with man coverage until the team they're playing shows proficiency in beating man, then they'll switch to zone with man and the trademark blitzes thrown in. Blitzes themselves are commonly done by the linebackers, corner and safety blitzes are highly unlikely as the Defensive Coordinator doesn't like bringing too many guys out of coverage. Zone blitzes on crucial third downs have been known to happen.

Special teams for the Grid Corps is hallmarked by fake plays. Whether it's a misleading kick return (moving all the blockers to the opposite side of the field from where the ball is going), lateral returns even when the game doesn't depend on it, passes or runs from special teams formations, or even simply pretending to fumble the ball to pull rushers out of their lanes, the Corps practices it all. In addition, the defensive special teams is highly aggressive. Rushing on punt returns, super fast kick blocks, or even line hurdling (I'm just going to pretend that's still legal, because the NFL is stupid) to block kicks. This is made much easier by the physiology of the Corps of course.

As far as two-point conversions go, the Corps is very likely to go for two-points conversions for their first few touchdowns. In a blowout win, they'll likely shift to normal PATs after the half. Don't be surprised to see fake PATs to try and get the 2PC.

PHYSIOLOGY
I recommend you read this. It contains important information on how Drawkians are different from your average human. In a nutshell, they're over 7 feet tall on average, and have larger proportions to match. Now, they're also lankier and less stocky all-around, but that doesn't mean some like a D-tackle can't get thick and muscular, it's not just not the average build. Now, this may conflict with some of your RPing preferences or make it harder to RP about us, so you're totally free to just ignore that and pretend we're the same as humans. That's totally your call, and I don't mind it either way.

PERMISSIONS
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes.
Choose Scoring Events: Yes.
Godmod Scoring Events: Hell yes.
RP Injuries to my Players: To an extent.
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Fine if it's funny or serves a story.
Godmod Other Events: Ditto ^
Style Modifier: +4.5

As far as these go, do anything except kill or brutally injure my major starters. Other than that, free reign. TG if you want to collab.

Starblaydia Knights Get Ready for World Bowl Debut
First Girdiron Showing for Famed Sporting Nation

Image
Background
When you say 'football' to 100% of Starblaydi sports fans, they'll think soccer, the game at which Starblaydia has been so influential haivng won a record-setting five World Cups, co-hosted three, and had three different Starblaydi Preisdents of the World Cup Committee. Precisely none of them will think of Gridiron, or 'Sarzonian Football' as your great-grandfather might say.

So what are Starblaydia doing, forming a team known as the Knights and entering the thirty-fifth World Bowl with essentially no history of interest, never mind game time, in the sport itself? There are several answers, but the most obvious one is money. Paying customers' money, that is. Not the newly made Starblaydi fans who will shell out for a replica jersey, nor the intrigued observer with nothing to do on a weekend and will buy a ticket to a match, not even the increased TV rights from an explosion of interest in a Starblaydi team competing in a new sport. This money is from everywhere else in the world, an almost infinite amount of potential customers from nations for whom gridiron is their passion, Sarzoball is their religion and handegg is their obsession.

The Starblaydi sportswear apparel manufacturer ediraf has supplied absolutely everything for this team from the ground up. They have a hand in forming the team, recruiting players from various other disciplines such as Rugby, Football, Athletics, Wrestling (both Pro and Amateur) and the world of fitness and body building. There are plenty of big, strong and fast people in Starblaydia, there are also plenty with great interchangeable sports skills, and many of them have been scouted, headhunted and persuaded to give gridiron a try.

One thing is for sure, even though they're the least-experienced and likely least-talented team at this edition of the World Bowl, they're guaranteed to have the finest equipment and facilities available in the multiverse, because ediraf is betting big on the success of their gridiron arm across their stores in the multiverse.

Coaching Staff
Head Coach: Giino Narrada
Offensive Co-ordinator: Mario Clemente
Defensive Co-ordinator: Matthew Zeresta

Style of Play
The Starblaydia Knights are not a team who have honed their teamwork and interplay over long seasons together. At best, the most unique thing they'll put together is a couple of former rugby players using the lateral passes they're used to when they're out of ideas. The Knights have to rely on the basics, grinding out the hard yards on the run before opening up the defence for a passing play. They'll attempt the passing option slightly more than average, as it's the kind of skill that Starblaydi fans of any sport loves to see, but complex play lists and call-on-the-fly plays are not in this team's playbook.

Kaboomlandia Phoenix Gridiron Football Team

After numerous first-round playoff losses, the Kaboomlandian football team finally won their first championship in World Bowl 33. Unfortunately, the hangover lasted a little too long and the team lost in the quarterfinals in a tournament where a disinterested media didn't even bother to cover the team. Following this, the entire team, which had been getting fairly old as they had pretty much all stayed together since World Bowl XXVI, was replaced for the 35th edition.

Strategy

The old Phoenix were a power run team, led by bellcow back Andrew Michaels. New coach Trent Vereen out of the KFL's Kolra is putting his own stamp on this younger team, though, as much of the snaps in practice were taken out of the shotgun. Starting quarterback James Jones has been lauded for his accuracy and throw power, and two of his receivers from his KFL squad in Galturin in Kenneth Lopez and Jay Forester are also on the squad, providing familiarity. The team has also been spotted in practice and in Vereen's gameplan running a two-back rotation. Stocky running back Jonathan Thomas provides speed and catching ability, while the bigger and heavier Devante Bell is a prototypical power back. The defense focuses on athleticism over size, and the secondary has been particularly praised for their speed and ability to break up passes.

Information:
Stadium: Royal Field (57,000 capacity)
Coach: Trent Vereen
Base Offense: Spread offense
Base Defense: 3-4
Style mod: +4

This team plays aggressive on offense and defense. On offense it is a Run and Gun offense. We like to make big pass plays and we run only to set up the pass. On defense we like to blitz and sometimes we get burned but most of the time we get to the Quarterback.

Cosumar National Gridiron Team
World Bowl XXXV

Basic Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Demonym: Cosumarite

Nickname: Azure Dragons

Home Field: The Xanadu Dome, Pelethas, Morponte Fief (capacity 94,000 for gridiron)

Debut: Baptism of Iron VI (3rd place) & World Bowl XI

Ranking: 5th

World Bowl XXXIV: 2nd in Group F (8-2), eliminated by Kaboomlandia in Round of 16

Style Modifier: Moderately Offensive (+3)

Football in Cosumar: Football, primarily known here as Gridiron Football (varying by region), is the second-most popular spectator sport behind only Association Football (soccer). The Cosumar Football League (CFL) commands a strong Fiefdomwide following. The most recent season's results can be found here. Cosumar's World Bowl team is a collection of All-Stars from the CFL and occasionally a standout or two from foreign leagues. Cosumar also boasts two of the most prominent college football programs in the world: Ramusok Capital University and Stoneshore College. RCU and Stoneshore have both won the NationStates College Football (NSCF) championship, the former three times. As such, many of Cosumar's World Bowl players have prior experience in NSCF. For example, RCU quarterback Brandon Reigner was drafted into the CFL by the Emerald Cove Conquistadors and has become a multiple-time-MVP caliber QB there, landing him on the National Team for World Bowls. As previously mentioned, gridiron is quite popular at collegiate, professional, AND international levels.

Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Rod Mason (67)

Assistant Head Coach: Phillip Jennings (57)

Offensive Coordinator: Kirk Keathley (49)

Defensive Coordinator: Lars Björklund (55)

Special Teams Coordinator: David Huxley (64)

Offensive Team Captain: Brandon Reigner (QB)

Defensive Team Captain: Leumas Ren (S)

Roster
Starters in bold
Name - Age - CFL Team

QUARTERBACK
Brandon Reigner - 38 - Emerald Cove Conquistadors
Kenji Toyashimo - 29 - Hagenheim Vagabonds
Jeston Boulware - 35 - Morponte Marauders

The absence of all-time great Jakkrik Levinsson can still be felt since his post-WB30 retirement, but it's nevertheless a veteran group of quarterbacks that Rod Mason has called in. Jeston Boulware, who actually started most of World Bowl XXIX eight years ago while Levinsson was mourning the death of his son, will return to back up twice-reigning CFL MVP Brandon Reigner and Vagabonds star Toyashimo. Boulware was never the dynamic and flashy playmaker that Levinsson was, but he's the prototypical quarterback. Tall, broad-shouldered, with the highest throw velocity in Cosumar. Excels doing quick drops in the pocket and immediately hitting his receivers on slants and other short routes. Holder of the best record in CFL history (19-1 two seasons ago), secondary option Toyashimo is an elusive scrambler with superb quickness jolting out of the pocket and accuracy throwing on the run. Reminiscent of Levinsson himself when he was first starting out. Toyashimo gives Cosumar a little something that neither of the other two offer and will usually get a few snaps per game in his own custom package even if he doesn't start. Starter Brandon Reigner, meanwhile, is noted for his poise and leadership at the end of games, and cannon arm throwing waaay downfield. He has become a true master - unquestionably the best Cosumarite quarterback of the last decade. This might be his last chance at a World Bowl though.

BACKFIELD
RB Nic Perrantes - 29 - Dawchire Eagles
RB Macauley Swarthman - 30 - Hagenheim Vagabonds
RB Morum Øygard - 27 - Hvalsey Lions

FB Arius Vicar - 29 - Dawchire Eagles

Nicolas Perrantes is a speedy back who is a nightmare to deal with in space. After missing World Bowl 33 with ACL tears, he performed so well in his return last edition that he has become Coach Mason's top dog heading into this tournament. But Mason will have to limit his carries to keep him from getting worn down. This means there will be plenty of carries available for Macauley Swarthman, the bruising back who has been the yang to Toyashimo's ying in Hagenheim. Finally, there's Hvalsey Lions' former Offensive Rookie of the Year, Morum Øygard. He's a complete back with an all-around game and excellent vision and intelligence reading the running lanes. At fullback, Coach Mason called in Arius Vicar due to his chemistry with Perrantes. He has blocked for him in Dawchire for years and won the 1013 Silver East Division with him.

TIGHT END
Mati Jalonen - 26 - Helfin Mighty Men
Lucas Castillo - 32 - Bayford Blue Dragons
Justus Bod - 32 - Kaldukosic Blazers

With longtime TE Kashmir Morrow finally retired and Castillo and Bod enduring tough CFL seasons with their teams, Mati Jalonen is now the unquestioned first-choice tight end after his best statistical season yet for Helfin, helping the Mighty Men to a Finnegan Trophy with his soft hands, elite blocking and excellent space-creation in the middle. Justus Bod and Lucas Castillo are consistent, experienced performers behind him who have won Dragon Bowls. Bod isn't extraordinary, but he's a reliable blocker and useful big target in the red zone. Castillo is more of a pass-catching tight end, with a long wingspan useful for both acrobatic catches and making diving tackles as a core special-teamer.

WIDE RECEIVER
Thoumen Kuyengall - 30 - Olask Dolphins
Thos Na'Basi - 23 - Hagenheim Vagabongs

Piet Talaat - 26 - Pelethas Thunder
Madison Weeldreyer - 27 - Samotath Scourge
Anthony Scarlioni - 27 - OAS Kingsmen

Cosumar will feature a drastically different receiver corps than World Bowl 34, with only two of the five returning. Kuyengall still starts out wide, as the most dominant receiver from Silver Conference: the tall, blazing-fast deep threat. Reigning CFL Offensive Player of the Year, Thos Na'Basi, opposite him, is more of a prototypical possession receiver: brilliant route-runner and space-creator, with great hands and physicality. Small Piet Talaat, known for his quick acceleration and elusive cuts in tight spaces, will line up in the slot, where he has a good rapport killing defenses by a thousand cuts with fellow RCU alum Reigner. Samotath star Madison Weeldreyer is a like-for-like back-up for Kuyengall, an athletic vertical threat with the fastest 40-dash time on the team, and Scarlioni is a utility receiver who can do it all.

OFFENSIVE LINE
LT Gregory Votto - 26 - Ramusok Stars
LT Stiliyan Na'Moute - 25 - Olask Dolphins

LG Arald Filipovic - 24 - Centus Owls
LG Harmon St. Clair - 30 - Sarmon Spirit

C Alceste Dechaumount - 27 - Olask Dolphins
C Finn Maki - 32 - Emerald Cove Conquistadors

RG Jakk Trice - 28 - Emerald Cove Conquistadors
RG Elsdom Blomsson - 32 - Helfin Mighty Men

RT Codal Kouyate - 31 - Opjenheim Bulldogs
RT Söngvar Gullmarstam - 26 - Flen Jaguars

This offensive line group has been very stable over the last few cycles. Starting tackles Kouyate and Votto have powered Cosumar's offense since World Bowl 33. Gregory Votto has earned All-CFL First Team honors six years in a row out of Stoneshore College, a stellar pass protector with nimble feet under his huge muscular frame. Codal Kouyate, once his rival in NSCF with RCU, has had a similarly impressive career. Kouyate is known for his unbelievable hands. Iron grip - once he has hold of a defender under the chest pads, they're at his mercy. If there's a weakness, it's the interior line. Both centers are big boys that plug space better than anyone, but are vulnerable to extremely athletic pass-rushing nose tackles. Guards Filipovic and Trice are solid, but not world-class players like Votto and Kouyate on the outside.

DEFENSIVE TACKLE
Lothar Grunstein - 30 - Bayford Blue Dragons
Kol Chessmore - 26 - Na'Ilee Venom

Vaber Dandurand - 30 - Sarmon Spirit
Ofi Mondragon - 26 - Olask Dolphins

Grunstein is the prototypical GIANT nose tackle, a massive body there simply to clog up the running lanes. He stops the inside running game dead in its tracks - instrumental for Bayford's Dragon Bowl victory a couple years ago as well as for the national team. He doesn't do much else, but Lothar performs that one task very well at nearly 400 lbs. Chessmore offers a bit more a finesse, pass-rushing approach in the middle and will slide in beside Grunstein with Cosumar goes 4-3 (which is most plays). Dandurand is in a similar mold of more modern, finesse pass-rushing DTs who can also play DE, but he isn't quite as explosive as Chessmore anymore. Ofi Mondragon is somewhere between Grunstein and Chessmore. He's a big, wide dude who can clog the running lanes, but offers a little more mobility than a behemoth like Grunstein and will actually get into the backfield sometimes - though not near as much as a sack specialist like Chessmore.

DEFENSIVE END
LE Connell Rapoport - 29 - Winnipeg Raiders Image
LE Toby Tancredi - 33 - Dawchire Eagles
LE Filip Stellar - 25 - Helfin Mighty Men

RE Melvin MacDiarmid - 29 - Cassandra Wildcats
RE Colin Trindal - 24 - Samotath Scourge
RE Goran Kravikovic - 25 - Hagenheim Vagabonds

Melvin MacDiarmid and Connell Rapoport are at the peak of their pass-rushing powers, having both debuted as starters together in World Bowl 34. MacDiarmid's effectiveness sacking the quarterback is the main reason why the Wildcats have flipped from lovable losers to semi-contenders in recent seasons. The secret to his success is his flawless technique and arsenal of well-crafted moves. Rapoport, on the other hand, is just a freakish athlete who overwhelms offensive linemen with his speed, power and relentless motor. Former starter Toby Tancredi sticks around as a valuable rotation option though after racking up double-digit sacks for the Eagles for the tenth consecutive season. The former NSCF and CFL Defensive Player of the Year can't play every down anymore, but he can still make a huge impact and wreak havoc on individual plays. Trindal, Stellar and Kravikovic are all up-and-coming young ends hoping to learn from the above three and maybe steal some snaps here and there.

LINEBACKERS
LOLB Quin Wooton - 30 - Morponte Marauders
LOLB Azrael Stainthorpe - 24 - Sarmon Spirit

MLB Thorin Cherufin - 27 - Samaj Spartans
MLB Berahthram Nedved - 31 - Mallox Iron Tigers

ROLB Cygnus Cason - 29 - Na'Ilee Venom
ROLB Martell Chievous - 28 - Centus Owls

Thorin Cherufin had the best season of any linebacker in Cosumar last season, willing the Samaj Spartans to a Dragon Bowl title. He's an absolute beast in the middle of the defense, covering tons of ground and displaying admirable leadership and organizational abilities. He now rivals Cygnus Cason as the bona-fide star of the Cosumarite defense. After being broken in as an extremely young starter way back in World Bowl 30, Cygnus Cason embraced the limelight and has led the linebacking corps by example ever since. His play-reading instincts and closing speed are second to none on the roster. Quin Wooton is a physical presence on the weak side who hungers for contact like few others. He's a sure tackler and racks up a lot of them with his relentless pursuit, but isn't quite the playmaker that Cherufin or Cason are. Mason may rotate all the linebackers quite a bit, since Stainthorpe, Nedved and Chievous are all excellent players as well who offer unique skillsets.

CORNERBACK
Alex Na'Tomis - 27 - Olask Dolphisn
Sveinn Sneijder - 32 - Samotath Scourge

Lark Bowman - 26 - Centus Owls
Kumaran Na'Taneh - 24 - Emerald Cove Conquistadors
Landry Coventry - 25 - Hagenheim Vagabonds

1012 CFL DPoY Na'Tomis is the centerpiece of an Olask Dolphins secondary that has consistently been the best unit in the league, possessing all the smarts, speed and savvy you want in a corner. And that says a lot since fellow all-star Hedley Shrewton is also on the Dolphins. Although the experienced Shrewton will miss this World Bowl with injury, it's made up for by the ageless Sveinn Sneijder on the other side. Lark Bowman is a tall, wiry corner (6"5), with springy legs built for outjumping receivers. Don't even try to throw in his direction on jump-ball. A crop of young corners including Na'Taneh and Coventry is pressing hard behind them. One of Cosumar's strongest position groups.

SAFETY
SS - Kanata Botiejonas - 30 - Helfin Mighty Men
SS - Marco Emiliano - 25 - Dawchire Eagles

FS - Gilan Nairn - 26 - Azuris Anthrax
FS - Mohammad Mussic - 22 - Samotath Scourge

Complete turnover in the deep secondary. None of these safeties have a single international appearance to their name, with legends like Leumas Ren, Kirum Sexton and Devan Edelby all suddenly deemed too old. Will the change and inexperience back there be a hindrance for Cosumar, or will the youth invigorate the unit? Too soon to tell, but the latter is actually quite possible. Rookie Mohammad Mussic walked into Samotath's starting lineup last season and instantly made them a playoff team, after all. Maybe he can do the same here. If he actually gets playing time, that is. Azuris Anthrax may have had a bad year, but you'd still be hard-pressed to find a more talented safety than Gilan Nairn anywhere in the world. Besides, it's not like this group is completely inexperienced. Kanata Botiejonas is one of the most seasoned and reliable safeties in the CFL and deserves this chance at the international level after a stellar eight-year career to-date in Helfin. Behind him, Marco Emiliano is a feisty, scrappy safety who doesn't mind mixing it up with bigger players. This tenacity serves him well, but also makes him a penalty risk.

SPECIAL TEAMS
K Alan Highsmith - 27 - Mallox Iron Tigers
K Latep Na'At - 31 - OAS Kingsmen

P Keevu Schavinski - 69 - Ramusok Stars
P Æðelbeorht Baardsson - 33 - Morponte Marauders

KR Devin Ferris (WR, 30, Samaj Spartans)
PR Nic Perrantes (RB, 29, Dawchire Eagles)

Alan Highsmith is as consistent as they come, the most accurate kicker in CFL history through his five seasons in the league. Keevu Schavinksi, Ramusok's near-70-year-old punter, remains one of the more remarkable stories in all of Gridiron. He's by far the longest-serving member of the National Team and still boots balls downfield like he did 50 years ago. How his unorthodox diet and legendary training regimen keeps him hardy at an advanced age is the subject of much speculation and curiosity year-in, year-out. Conspiracy theory has it that he might have some type of cyborg component or mechanical enhancement.

Daniachew himself coached Banija in 4 World Bowls, and went to the semifinals in World Bowl 29, World Bowl 30, and World Bowl 31. The legend was made head of the Banijan Gridiron Football Association, and hired Alastair Jobs to coach the national team. He coached Loyola-Istria to the NSCF 14 and NSCF 17 championships. Jobs is looking to redeem Banija after they failed to make the knockout stages on home soil in World Bowl XXXIV.

Offensive Coordinator: Jeremiah Johnson, 55 years old. He, alongside offensive guru, has tried to retool this Banijan national side into an offensive juggernaut. While he'd like to have a quarterback a little more accurate than his current one, he makes plays to put his playmakers in space.

Defensive Coordinator & Assistant Head Coach: Jonah White. 55 years old. The defensive coordinator was a defensive coordinator in Banija for a number of years, and has his now second chance to be defensive coordinator for the national team. He has an aggressive defensive style that goes for big plays. He will blitz a lot and play man to man. Which means that with the frequency his defenses make a big play, a turnover or a sack or a big hit, they are susceptible to allowing plenty of big plays as well.

Special Teams Coordinator/Strength & Conditioning Coach: Iyoas Motuma.

What is next after the "7s pact" ?

Image

That the tittle from Loirgrunzodd Herald

As Alenburg already created their first national football selection with the availability from Sports Minister,7 coaches from the 7 Alenburgian Football League teams signed a agreement to form a team with the best prospects from the Seven Teams selecting Hawks coach Enmanuel Van Der Merwe as the head coach with 6 votes in favor and 1 against,Alenburg is asking what is next? coach Van Der Merwe given his first speech as a Head Coach:

"First let me say thank you to the AFL and the rest of the head coaches from the other teams for been selected as the leader and mentor of this team, our team is already training and preparing for their first match of the World Bowl knowing that they are going to play with pefect professionals, our is training for performing at their best, best prospects were selected after our combine including the reunion of the "Claw Legion" selected as the best defense on their colleges days this team is going to fly like never before with nothing more to say thank you very much for your trust"

Will this team be the surprise of this league? we will know it on the field

Tales from the Ministry of Science

The Leader appeared, dressed in ragged robes, doing his best impression of having a sinister storyteller voice. "Well, hello boys and ghouls. Today, we have a story from the archive that is really to die for. You gotta admit, it's very gho- Oh hang on." The Leader took off his hood and let his hair fall back in natural position. "Sorry, it's hard trying to make puns, though I don't even know if I should consider this a "horror" story." The Leader spoke in his normal voice. "But, seeing how I'm in the mood for story time, why not a story of someone who I would saw as a traitor to the nation. It's a bit of a rather strange tale, but seeing how reality varies in the multiverse, there are surely multiple possibilities. This is a story called simply.."

The Defector

Government official Fanin was packing his belongings into a briefcase, as he tiptoed to the hotel room window. He peered through the blinds, wondering if they had already send a sniper after him. He scanned the buildings across the street, but he saw nothing that appeared outta place. Earlier, our man Fanin was doing work for the Ministry in one of the political offices near the government building. He was sorting through some papers he was assigned, when he eyed a document that looked important. You see, our man Fanin has been in touch with a local rebel group that we have been tracking for about a month. By the time, you're hearing this tale, they are most likely dead.

Now, our man Fanin snatched that paper, like a greedy kid in a candy shop. He already established a plan: Lie to everyone that he needed a vacation, when in actuality, he was planning to heading to some other nation and sell the document. His plan was already filled with flaws, as enough to make swiss cheese. Knowing he forgotten about the countless security cameras and already placed security rules for tourists from Main Nation Ministry, our man Fanin was doomed from the start.

Getting his passport ready, he called the citizen-authorized airfield several miles from the hotel he was staying at, booking himself a ticket outta the nation. And that is when our tales takes a turn to which the Ministry of Science will take credit for. Fanin had a taxi drive him to the airport, which he started to grow more nervous and nervous, as he was approaching the series of metal detectors that appeared to line the hall. What would happen if the detector beeped like crazy? Would the soldiers stationed there with their rifles mow him down or will the secret police put him on a plane and blow it up? Fanin put his single briefcase through the machinery, where he held his breath.

A soldier in one of the stations had Fanin open the briefcase, in case, there was contraband or weaponry that made it pass the detectors. When he opened the briefcase, the soldier saw the document stashed behind a loose pair of pants, where he glimpsed it to give Fanin a funny look. Fanin smiled to him, where he closed the briefcase, looking the man through.

Our man Fanin thought he was in the clear. All he simply needed to do now was to find the terminal and he was spot free. Expect, he was sidetracked by a cheerful female airport worker. "The VIP tramway are now officially open to the public! All passengers for Flight 384 are instructed to use the trams to get to the terminal!" Fanin checked his ticket, seeing the same numbers. It was just one more obstacle he needed to clear. Asking for directions to the trams, the airport worker was helpful to lead him to a series of steps, leading downstairs. A large subway-like tram was stationed there, doors automatically open, letting people inside.

The thing was that Fanin was the only person near the tram. He looked in the tram through the windows to see that no one was inside. Did everyone else got the earlier tram? He needed to get to the flight, as there was no turning back. When he entered, the doors automatically shut as the tram moved forward down the tunnel. Fanin felt tired from the stress of what he was doing and seeing that no one was on board with him, he took a nap.

When he woke up, Fanin looked out of the window to see that he was still in the tunnel. That was when he realized that the tram was moving in a forward-left motion. He, at first, dismissed this. Until he waited.. And waited... And waited... And yet, the tram was moving the same direction for about a hour now. Something was wrong. Fanin, who was now becoming nervous, went through the empty tram cars, where he found the driver's seat at the first tram car. Opening the door, he expected to find the driver, till he realized the tram was running on autopilot the whole time.

Then, with great horror and realization, he saw a map on the wall near the driver's seat. It was a map of the railway in a small circle. No way in and no way out. Desperate, Fanin attempted to pull on the brake, but this simply caused the tram to go faster and faster. Before Fanin knew it, he was now trapped into a whirlwind of metal, as his body was rapidly being thrown inside of the tram...

The Leader had the robes on again, as he showed a miniature railway made outta toy tracks. "I will thank scientist Klaus Jonathan for the theory of speed in a closed circle." The Leader flipped a mini switch, which a toy train was moving inside the circle, getting faster each turn. "Well. Poor Fanin. But some of us in the Ministry have a bit of a duty to deliver punishment, even if they fall into the cruel and unusual. It's a shame, because Fanin didn't even bother to finish reading the document. You see, he forgotten to read the fine print of the bottom. Had he read it, which was a warning that stood out, he would have been spared his fate."

The train in the miniature circle track derailed onto the table, where the Leader picked it up. "I guess you could say that Fanin was a bit of a "train wreck" himself, don't you agree? Anyone? Any.. body liked that joke? No one." The Leader only heard crickets. "Oh well."

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
National American football team

Abanhfleft returns to the World Bowl after getting beaten by Newmanistan in the competition's 34rd edition for another shot at lifting that elusive trophy. The team went through a lot of challenges before finally lifting that coveted trophy, up to and including losing team members and staff in the crash of Air Abanhfleft Flight 5116 as well as being once swept aside by The United States of Saints, an unranked team at the time of that particular competition but is now nowhere to be found once again. Consistency is the key, they say, and Abanhfleft has been a little bit consistent these past few competitions; consistently losing, that is. The warriors of Abanhfleft will hope to buck that trend and regain both the crown and top spot this time.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation
: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Official history: This will be Abanhfleft's seventh time playing the World Bowl after the disaster that was the crash of Air Abanhfleft Flight 5116 in Electrum. This is Abanhfleft's tenth time participating in the World Bowl overall.
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +2. Abanhfleft has adopted a new, more conservative attacking style of play under new coach Marius Magnussen.

HOME STADIUM
Image
The Amado Isauro-Imponte Garden in Kammala, Garufaloe Province, home of the Garufaloe Sidewinders of the FNLAF, will be playing host to the Fleftic national gridiron team's home matches. It has an official capacity of 51,000 people, but attendance regularly exceeds that figure thanks to a rabid fanbase, and people preferring to stand up or sit on the stairs whenever capacity is filled.

THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF THE UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF PRIDNESTROVIA
NATIONAL GRIDIRON FOOTBALL TEAM

Gridiron football, or as the morally corrupt Westerners call it, American football, has little to no interest at all in the United Socialist States, at least before the Pridnestrovian Republic decided to try its hand in the game. The properly European sports of association football (or in Pridnestrovia, real football) and rugby union are by far and large the most popular sports in the United Socialist States (along with the ironically very American sport of basketball, but that's another story for another time), but by no means does that mean that President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko is not going to take advantage of an opportunity to win an international trophy for Pridnestrovia when the President Field Marshal learned that there will be a new World Bowl about to occur in the nation of Newmanistan, who has managed to defeat both Pridnestrovia and Abanhfleft on their way to losing the 34th World Bowl against Taeshan. President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko presents the Pridnestrovian national gridiron football team, and a new and glorious gridiron league is now up and running in Pridnestrovia! Truly, gridiron football has done wonders and marvels for the Pridnestrovian Republic!

Team Cassadaigua- World Bowl 35

Cassadaigua returns to World Bowl play after a very long hiatus. The nation is a two-time World Bowl champion, winning the 8th and 22nd editions. In their heyday, the team strength has always been the play of the secondary. They’ll get enough offense, but the defensive backs are outstanding, making us difficult to pass against. We might concede yardage on the ground, but its much more difficult to get it in the air.

Another thing to note is that while Cassadagan teams in other sports are notoriously all-female, the football team has always been mixed gender with men placed on the line of scrimmage.

Roster Released,
by Chelsea Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

Football fans throughout Cassadaigua can rejoice as the team returns to World Bowl play after not taking part in the competition for quite a while. Even after the nation returned in other sports, it did not happen in football until now. The biggest challenge for the team will be adapting to modern styles of play, something that we took for granted when we returned in baseball. It was not until the team hired a successful international baseball coach that the team really took off in its success level. Maddie Polanco was able to provide that additional knowledge of adapting to the way the game was played in this era, and we have since seen that team become more successful. What adjustments need to be made in this tournament? We’ll have to see firsthand before we can formulate an opinion on that.

As I look at the roster, there are not many surprised, but it is pretty clear that head coach Megan Schuster leaned towards players in their mid-20's to be the starters, and there are not many older veterans on this team. That can make sense if the plan is to create a team for the long term, so that the same core can develop chemistry with one another. Even if it does not happen in this World Bowl, it can happen down the road, should the nation continue to return. Erika Flynn was named the starting quarterback over Destiny Young, and that’s telling as Schuster goes with the pocket passer Flynn over the scrambler in Young. Otherwise, there is not much difference between these two quarterbacks, and we can take solace in knowing that Young is available to change things up. Schuster has not talked much about game plans, so we don’t know what to expect. Flynn can have sneaky maneuverability in the pocket, but is not openly looking to scramble for yards. It is likely that the team will use three and four receiver sets quite often.

The roster also marks a return of having men on the line of scrimmage. If you follow Cassadagan football, you know this is the case, but some of the international readers might not know that we have always had a mixed gender roster in the World Bowl. Occasionally, we have had a woman or two on the line, on either side of the ball, but its developed into a man’s position. Because of this, we have never had to worry about Male Equality Now protests. The secondary has always been the heart of this team, and the team will try to build up that reputation again. A speedy yet physical group of defensive backs have been added to the roster in hopes of continuing that legacy.

In the group, we will be opposed by Cosumar, Royal Kingdom Of Quebec, Ko-oren, Melbergia, and The Greater Nordics. All those nations are playing in the World Baseball Classic as well, but other then Ko-oren, their World Bowl trip to Concord Heights might be the only time their fans get to see one of their home sides playing in Cassadaigua anytime soon. Of course, Cosumar and Quebec are on the baseball bubble. Ko-oren will be here for both sports (that’s not official yet, just probable). In football, Cosumar has been a powerhouse, and are the top ranked team in the group. Quebec, ranked 12th, is the pot two team and also a consistent contender. Ko-oren is ranked 23rd. The others are unranked. To qualify for the playoffs, Cassadaigua has to either squeeze into the top two spots, or, more likely, get one of those wild card spots for third place teams.
