I was thinking this wouldn't be a problem as it doesn't actually change the universe much seeing as Cuba's specific history with superheroes hadn't been elaborated up to this point. I was even thinking about playing with an idea of Che Guevara as a superhuman and a personal hero of Cecilia, which I thought would be very cool and interesting.

As for the second part, I didn't mean to imply that Cuba is some kind of utopia or even overall better than the United States. My characters, both of them, have a strong political component with Cecilia being a frustrated communist, like how Finland SSR put it, and Marcos taking up a hereditary position of anti-imperialist resistance. In the RP I was hoping to expand on Marcos and Cecilia's relationship with their home countries/roots and politics generally, giving a little bit of extra scope to a superhero rp.

I... Would not have her idolize Che Guevara unless he's a villain and we are going with the real version of him that he's non-powered and dead. Most people don't tend to like racist mass murderers. And after talking with Tom and Zark, we did agree that there is no way Cuba would accept Supers quicker than any other modern nation.

It's pretty heavily implied that it's some sort of utopia. As far as politics go, we're not looking to inject that into the RP. Unless it's just for Marcos and Cecilia, then by all means.

Alright, I won't take up any kind of debate with those statements here. I'll edit the character then, if her bio is unacceptable. I'll probably just make her from a different country altogether.

Thanks for that first part. You know how Americans are :P

The bio is fine, sans the part about supers being integrated faster than elsewhere in the world, if you point out that it's Cecilia's point of view instead of actual, historical fact. We don't mind straying from history, but the things stated in your character's bio are a bit of an extreme deviation.

Haha, no problem. I'll go ahead and edit my bio to change those bits. After I've made those edits, and you've checked over it, of course, do you have any advice for how to introduce my characters to the IC?

EDIT: The edits were quick and have been made, feel free to look over them and tell me if I should do more or if I'm good to go :)

You've specified that it's her point of view, so it should be fine now.

Regarding how to join the IC, well, the current arc is about a drug infused with vampire blood being distributed in San Diego. The Young Bloods are returning to their base from destroying a factory in the docks and are unavailable, but your characters could react to the situation in other parts of the city.

Name: Katie Cotter
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Race: Human/Mutant
Appearance (pics if possible): Katie
[u]Young Blood?:
N
Bio:
While many superheroes' abilities don't effect their ability to fit in within society, Katie is unfortunately not one of them. Born with strange animal like features such as her furry ears and unusually fast growing hair. She had trouble fitting in at times. School could often be rough for her, as she was picked on for being different than all the other kids. Katie wasn't to be deterred however. She was the youngest of six siblings, and her big Irish family was important part of helping her deal with the discrimination she faced. Her mother was an Olympic swimmer, and her father a former college football player turned coach. Born into an athletic family, Katie was always enthralled with sports and competition. However she didn't end up failing in love with swimming or football but instead archery. Her parents were slightly disappointed at first but soon the whole family was shocked to see her talent. Starting in middle school Katie began entering archery competition and by high school she was already being considered for the Olympics. While her incredible athletic talent didn't exactly make her better at fitting in, it gave Cotter a sense of purpose and determination.

Because of this determination, she didn't become a hero for the same storybook reasons as everyone else. Growing up in New York she watched the New York Freedom Fighters flounder and struggle in her home town. They weren't terrible heroes, they tried hard and genuinely wanted to make the world a better place. But they lacked talent, and Katie felt, a competitive drive to succeed. At the age of 16 she sought out Quick Shot, a fellow archer and the leader of the Freedom Fighters. He originally told her she was too young, but her determination won Quick Shot over and he began giving her lessons and training her personally. At 18 she entered the Freedom Fighter's sidekick program, taking up the name Hot Shot, in honor of her mentor and because she thought it was cute. She would conduct routine patrols around the city and occasionally assist the Fighters in real fights and missions. After two years of paying her dues, Katie feels its time for her to join the team as a full member. Much of the country agrees with her as well, League News has her ranked as the number three hero prospect in the country and many people see her as what New York needs to turn their team around.
Powers:
  • Heightened Senses Because of her genetic mutation, Katie has animal like(specifically cat) senses and so her sense of smell, sight, and sound are all well beyond human capabilities.
  • Heat Absorption Katie has the ability to absorb heat and release it usually in the form of fire. She channels this into her bow and arrow, giving her shots more power as well as a sometimes explosive component.
  • Archery Well trained with a bow, skilled archer, she is likely one of the best in the world.

Limitations:
  • Strength: While physically fit and having a slightly higher strength ceiling than humans, Katie's strength is nothing spectacular and thus limits the impact of her arrow shots.
  • Her senses have limits similar to those of normal humans thus they can be weakened or temporarily blocked in a similar fashion.

Weaknesses:
  • Sense Overload: Excessive light, smell, or noise can overwhelm and throw off Katie and in extreme situations completely incapacitate her.
  • Fire proof materials: typically fire proof materials are able to disrupt Katie's ability to absorb and release energy.

Name: Aleta Lindell
Age: 17
Gender: Woman
Race: Human
Appearance:
Not this exactly; Shorter hair, almost like a pixey cut and just generally less grunge and more punk centered. I just couldn't find a punk picture I liked.
Image

Young Blood?: Eventually. In the region, at the high school, but unaffiliated atm.
Bio: Aleta was the kid growing up who was always sick. She was small for her age, puny even. Nearly every week, She would contract something and miss class consistently. Her time at home was not ideal either, with her high maintenance physical state drawing much ire from her father, a single parent working as a mechanic to make ends meet that couldn't always miss work to take care of her. She was lonely, stunted, and ignored.

It was when Aleta was thirteen that her powers began to develop. Where she was once nauseous and sniffly, her hunger became ravenous and she never so much as coughed. She no longer missed classes, and even began to excel in gym class despite her still small frame. Her life had made a complete turnaround.

But then her father fell ill. Weeks passed and he didn't recover. He moved on from this world a shell of his former self. Aleta went to live with an unloving aunt, and lost interest in her classes. She even disregarded her health completely by taking up smoking cigarettes, getting tattoos, eating nothing but junk food, but no matter what she did, her health maintained perfect form. Pills, drink, and... harder things than both didn't so much as give her vertigo, let alone impair her mental state or give the slightest mental respite. Now, she's known more as a drifter and party girl, consistently drinking anyone under the table.

The latest manifestation of her abilities came clear to her during a mugging after a party one night; On the way home, she blocked the muzzle of the gun just before the bullet left the chamber with a small spit of black tar in its direction. The mugger was left in an alleyway with tar binding his hands to the ground and plenty of bruises to mark his failure. She had become Pitch.

Powers:
  • [Enhanced Human Condition]: Aleta doesn't get sick and is immune to most poisons. She also maintains a healthy muscle mass without effort. Her endurance and durability is increased.
  • [Pitch]: The excess of Aleta's lifestyle forms a tar-like substance she refers to as Pitch that she can control to an extent. This gives her an easily accessible suit when she passes it out through her pores, giving her physical resistance to attacks --I associate the suit with Spiderman's Venom suit--. She can also use the Pitch as a whp in order to reach out towards an attacker while in the suit. The general properties of Pitch are as follows: hydrophobic, insulator, sticky, low elasticity.

Limitations:
  • Set amount of Pitch at one time. Extending too far or using too much lessens the intergrity of the suit and allow her opponents to attack her directly.
  • While Aleta cannot be damaged through most poisons or illness, she isn't much more durable than a regular human outside of her suit.

Weaknesses:
  • [Dry Heat]: Sustained dry heat can make Pitch become brittle and easily broken.
  • [Freezing]: Pitch also becomes brittle and unusable if frozen.

Likes: Warmth, smoking, tattoos, loud noise, social events, music, the dark
Dislikes: Disease, her aunt, people with obvious seasonal allergies, being cold, mornings

This character requires the least background set-up of what I would play, and is just generally fun and cool.

I believe short term superhuman physical abilities, and acting like a rabid animal.

Short-term superhuman physical abilities and rabid animal through prolonged use or a big-shot use from the first time.

Mission Title: Merlin Arc (better name needed)
What heroes would be involved, if any?: Every magicians fighting for their survival, Phantom Brotherhood
What Villains are involved, if any?: Merlin
Location(s): World, though San Diego and England will be the main locations.
What is the heroes’ objective, if any?: Survive the Merlin's mad crusade and banished Merlin back to Merlin's time/Kill Merlin permanently
What is the villains’ objective, if any?: Absorbs enough magic powers to return to Merlin's time and put Mordred down once and for all.
Quick Summary(paragraph please): Merlin was banished by Mordred to the future time (modern days). The experience, however, made him mad and almost to the point of insanity that he believes the only way to return and be stronger is to absorb the magic power in modern days.

Faction Name: Orion | Ω
Faction Location/Territory: San Diego, Pacific Coast
Tech Level: Post-Modern, Futuristic
Description/Lore: Brought together under the influence of world-renowned roboticist and futurist Walt Bismarck, Orion fused the unnamed alliance of Mustafa Gaul, Nile Canaan, and Maria Gonzalez with the mercenary force spearheaded by Legion, which included Cannon, Black Luminous, and Blaze Luminous. Adding in two highly specialized cyborgs under the direction and maintenance of Walt Bismarck, AWOL and Saga, the current Orion roster composes nine direct members with Walt acting as an unofficial tenth, due to security concerns and conflicts of interest. Originally conceived as a means to popularize Gaul's message of villain liberation, the organization has taken a more direct approach in confronting heroes and visiting them with devastating force.

Making a name for themselves with the death of Solar, a beloved and popular, not to mention powerful, member of superhero community especially prevalent in the Southwest United States and Northern Mexico, Orion has seen a meteoric rise in interest and activity. Immediately following the fight with Solar, a rag-tag team of Orion operatives led an impromptu attack on Captain Quake, drawing in the L.A. Stars into open combat, and despite their retreat from the conflict, the showing proved that just a few members of their organization were capable of handling a nationally recognized superhero team in broad daylight.

To prevent a sudden backlash and following several superhero threats, Orion retreated to the shadows to cool off and re-orient, finding their position secured on major villainous networks and found a place of belonging on the underworld. Now, the organization is taking on interactions in the criminal element of society, preparing itself for assaults on high-leveled superheroes and villains alike to secure their place in a growing world of chaos and uncertainty. In the end, each member has a stated goal of eliminating superheroes, to what purpose is often debated and purposely kept vague, but almost all agree that the age of heroism is to end and by doing so, society as a whole will improve.
Population Size: 10
Army Size (If any): Less than 100 Orion affiliates and cells. Walt Bismarck's robotic army is not taken into consideration.
Races that are part of the faction: Superhumans, Cyborgs
Additional Info: Each member of the core nine have a tattoo of the helmet and a number somewhere on their body, used a permanent sign of allegiance to Orion and the elimination of heroes.

About time I made a faction application for my only faction in the roleplay, haha.

I'm a little confused why the pop is smaller than the army. Plus could you explain who these hundred people are? Are they all powered?

I was confused. I have nine core members and one outsider who is considered a member but left off the roster.

Army is more long the lines of unnotable, disposable redshirts. They are private military contractors, for the most part. The next two or three posts updating Blaze Luminous, AWOL, and Saga would document Orion's recruitment efforts in LA and SF to increase their superhuman numbers. I was planning on introducing five members in San Fran, and five others in LA, powered, but nothing quite as fearsome as the core members. I would include these in the one hundred figure.

Okay that makes sense, was concerned about the idea of a 100+ supers organized together. But if most are just grunts and then the rest are mid to low level villains thats understandable. Accepted then

That's correct, we don't have one hundred supers running around flying colors, just some top tier powerhouses and their assorted mooks.
