Name some of your nation's notable leaders from the past and what they did:

King Uares I (r. 1402-1467) was a fisherman from a poor village who ascended to the throne when he was found to be the illegitimate son and only surviving offspring of the recently deceased king. His reign brought about better relations between the separate halves of Jeminia, leading to reunification a few years after his death. He implemented an examination system for entry into politics in an attempt to prevent political power from being hereditary, and a famous duel between him and a corrupt senator on the steps of the high council chambers led to the popular gesture of Jeminians raising their left arms with open hands as a show of honesty and loyalty.

Queen Aeryl (r. 1501-1589) was selected for the throne at a young age after her grandfather chose her as his heir instead of her father. She sponsored a revival of ancient Jeminian traditions and was a patron of the arts and sciences, funding several inventions that improved life in Jeminia. She began diplomatic relations with the rest of the Outlands, and organized the Outlandic Assembly, an intergovernmental organization intended to improve all nations in the region. She led Jeminia through several wars, on numerous occasions leading the army into battle herself, and attempted to negotiate peacefully with Europeans. Aeryl never married, but was famous for a staggering number of romantic involvements, and renowned for her adventurous personality. Even in old age, she flew a hang glider across the entire nation on a dare. Aeryl is additionally significant for having legalized same-sex marriage.

King Jengo III (r. 1848-1894) was the final king of Jeminia, abolishing the monarchy in order to better democratize the country. He dedicated much of his life to charity, helping the less fortunate in his and other parts of the world. Jengo was an amateur biologist, obsessed with studying different animal species, which led to his introduction of Darwin's theory of evolution to the Jeminian education system. He famously missed his coronation when he snuck off to join the navy, only learning of his ascension to the throne after spending two months in an intense naval campaign in the antarctic.

Edgar Hilrom Smythe was president of Jeminia for much of the early 2000s, leading the country through economic difficulties and through the Third Outlandic War. Smythe was a journalist prior to entering politics, and prided himself on his honesty, famously dismissing and even arresting fellow politicians who were guilty of corruption. A botanist in his spare time, Smythe went out of his way to improve the agricultural sector of the Jeminian economy, using his own money to do so. Since his presidency, he has retired from public life and lives on a small farm in the countryside.
