Official contingent of your Nation or is this an unofficial volunteer force?: Furukuran Sea Anti Nifonese Front (FSANF) is an unofficial volunteer force listed as well as a terrorist organization. Led by Hosokawa Yoko, it at first consisted of few radical students that met with Marxist philosophy while studying overseas. The movement has been mostly active among the Nifonese diaspora, has recently taken an enormous blow following assassination of it's first commander and leader, Hosokawa Sanzaemon (Yoko's husband) at the hands of Gunpeitai. As the result, Hosokawa Yoko pledged her entire organization to the world socialist revolution, knowing that they stand no chance to destroy Nifon on their own.

Hello comrades, fellow players, and prospective members!

I wanted to address some questions and general concerns, some brought up recently by an unnamed player who had misconceptions, and also some outright intentional falsehoods they spread, but also that has often been brought up from new members who don't read the FAQs in the OP and don't understand exactly how the ISVC operates.

We are an integrated force for the most part. This is true. We are not a loose alliance, but quite the opposite with few exceptions. The ISVC is not its own insular organization, but actually the military wing of the International Socialist Congress. The Congress, and more specifically the Central Committee of the Congress, decide where the ISVC needs to be applied, or deployed (As well as its sister wing, the ISHC - International Socialist Humanitarian Corps). The full official alternate name of the ISVC is also the Revolutionary Forces of the ISC.

There is a hierarchy. There is the Commissar for Revolutionary Action (currently filled by Henry Perkins of Vionna-Frankenlisch) who works with the CC to then decide actions. He in turn gives orders to the Commander of the Revolutionary Forces (currently filled by General Joffard Tozimbga of the Cardwith Islands) to execute those actions, who then delegates to his deputy and unit commanders of various nationalities from the constituent member forces of the ISVC.

Most often, the first level deployment to a hot zone or socialist group or nation in need will be a CAIF Team. CAIF stands for Corps (as in the ISV Corps) - Advisory (the most common role of the force) - Implementation (as in how to implement the policy of intervention into action) - Force.
CAIF Teams can number anywhere from a couple dozen to several hundred, depending on the size needed for a particular deployment.

The CAIF program is integrated without exception. There is one team leader with 'lieutenants' or deputies. It's not about ISVC members being unleashed to do their thing in a host or hostile nation, uncoordinated with the others on the team. The team leaders will almost always come from a CC member or very senior member. The team all have specialties and they are all directed from the top leadership of the team on where and when best to apply those skills.

The CAIF program is also a great opportunity for players to participate on a character level. They can interact with the other members of the team, and also the local NPCs or OP's characters, as well as opposing forces, whether they are controlled by the OP or other players in the RP. These characters can quite often build up a profile and canon and might appear over several RPs. That being said, it must be pointed out that absolutely no ISVC character is above being killed off and you should not enter into our RPs with a CAIF team character assuming they will be invulnerable to IC injury and death.

Ultimately, this is the most important level of deployment, and quite often participation in a NS or II RP will go no further than CAIF Team level. CAIF Teams can also be thought of as scouting/advisory teams. They assess whether another level of deployment is necessary and report back to ISVC Command in Bratislava or the nearest AO (Area of Operations) HQ. In most cases, more involvement won't be necessary or prudent.

CAIF Teams usually have a combination of skilled personnel that range from military, political, and general education cadre, demolitions experts, civil affairs and psyops experts, engineers, medical staff, humanitarian workers, linguistics experts, logisticians, pilots, drivers, among many other varied skills. The ISHC was previously mentioned. Sometimes, an assessment will be made by the CAIF team that the mission should be expanded into a larger humanitarian effort, instead of solely a military effort or intelligence gathering and sabotage effort. Sometimes the assessment is that it should be a balance between the two. That balance can also be found in most CAIF teams at the micro level.

Currently, we are actively involved in three unrelated RPs at the CAIF level deployment stage (One RP has escalated to the next level, but the CAIF Team is still active in supporting the larger ISVC intervention force) and have introduced CAIF teams in some past RPs that didn't pan out.

Second level deployment would be combined combat arms, or a larger amount of humanitarian and civil works personnel, depending on the RP. At this point, the CAIF Team will have mostly vacated the AO during the transition, or they may stay on as leaders and liaisons for the larger force.
We would be looking at contributions from member nations from anywhere to platoon to regimental strength. ICly, these units would be commanded by their own officers, but those officers would still report to an integrated ISVC command structure.

Third level deployment for ISVC forces would be full divisions and even armies, full fleets, along with reserve forces called up from all willing nations. Again, they would be commanded by their own national and party appointed commanders, but there would be integration at the top levels with the Commissar and ISVC CO and possible AO/theater commanders. As with the first level/CAIF Team deployment, we don't often let players control ISVC associated forces on their own without coordination with the wider ISVC effort.

If players insist on going it alone without ISVC oversight, we obviously can't stop anyone's involvement in an RP (If it is a non-ISC/ISVC officially originated RP), but by the same token, you may not claim ISVC association or approval of your involvement, because that is not automatic. Also in such case, such a player that insists on operating in this manner should not assume that they and the ISVC/ISC are allied with the same mission goals in mind unless it has been explicitly agreed to beforehand. This goes for all levels of involvement in any mutual RP.

Lastly, getting back to the various levels...
Fourth level would be an all out defense of the home front of constituent members and/or a possible attack on the Congress and HQ in Bratislava, Aressna. In this instance, nothing would be off the table, including WMDs and other WA banned warfare practices, against the offending attackers.

I hope this brings some clarity to the ISVC/ISHC mission and what we’re about and you, the new prospective applicant, are able to read it before committing to something that might not be what you originally envisioned. Any cultural or other biographical details that would be helpful to RP your volunteer force and its leader (much appreciated): Tawwassen was created after a bloody civil war in Canada, where rebel armies largely consisting of Communists and Anarchists battled against Fascists who'd taken over the government in a coup. The war ended with a ceasefire, Canada being partitioned into three new Territories: A Marxist Dictatorship in Quebec, a Fascist Dictatorship in Central Canada, and an Anarchist Territory in the west dubbed The Confederacy of Western Canada, or Tawwassen.

Because of the war, Tawwassen's populace holds a hatred for fascism rivaled by none. Fighting long and arduous guerrilla campaigns against superior fighting forces have made them hearty, resilient and stubborn, and for the most part they are incredibly fanatic and devoted to their cause. Outside of the military, Tawwassen's people are incredibly stereotypical Canadians, except a lot angrier.

The Cardwithian doctrine outlines first creating or helping to foster an internal insurgency within a target nation; winning the support of the population through social media and propaganda; disruption of infrastructure and sabotage of a current anti-Marxist government or opposing force; severing of foe's ties to fellow anti-Marxist allies; then the deployment of more conventional combat forces to support these efforts.

Any cultural or other biographical details that would be helpful to RP your volunteer force and its leader (much appreciated): Frozen Forestrian Military Units, such as the Expeditionary Force are unique in that discipline is more so inherent than forced onto or trained onto soldiers. Relations between the upper-ranks and lower-ranks are strong and there is very little disconnect. A military culture exists against disrespecting higher-ups and brass, as such disobedience is rare. The Culture also favors the search and obtainment of glory, Frozen Forestrian Units are more far more willing to risk their lives in dangerous assignments if there is additional prestige to go along with it, and they are usually resourceful enough to complete difficult tasks. In reverse, they are less willing to risk their lives on non-prestigious operations. Frozen Forestrian Doctrine usually specializes in assaulting positions as well as counter-attacking. Weaknesses include holding down a position for a long period of time. All Frozen Forestrian troops can read and write in their native language (Frozen Forestrian, derived from Old Norse) and English.
