After several attempts at communication with the Royal Office a statement was given by Press Secretary for the Royal Office and former head of communications at Altiban Mineral inc., Nils Liban.

Dear Citizens of Astramiu and international guests,

It does me a great joy to share this news with you all as the Empress personally asked me to convey her message of joy and happiness upon the people. The following is a summary of the words the empress spoke to the members of the royal office so that we may convey them to the people. It is the wish of Her Majesty The Empress, Empress Evelyn IV, and her family to grace the population of Neia Antigo with a visit on the 26th of the month of may of this year 2018. With anticipation in her heart she wishes to experience the best the city and it's people have to offer. In celebration of her daughters birthday, Princess Mari, Her Majesty The Empress will gift the city with a statue in honor of it's hard working people and continuous help in maintaining a beautiful nation.

The Empire of Astramiu Royal Office has send instructions to the mayor of Neia Antigo, David Mescab, and the chief of police, Elles de Vries. Necessary preparation will be made to ensure the safety of the people and the safety of the royal family. Any attempt at disruption during the events will be brought forward to an accelerated judicial system especially set up for nation wide events. The supreme court of Astramiu has appointed five judges under the leadership of Supreme Judge Mandy Floresa to deal with such accelerated cases of crime.

Kind regards,

Nils Liban
Press Secretary of Empress Evelyn IV
The Empire of Astramiu Royal Office.

When asked for a statement on the visit of Empress Evelyn IV, Police Chief Elles de Vries answered in the following matter: "We don't always get someone of her grandure in our city, heck, I'd say most of our port city is often overlooked. Yet, she's recognized that we do our best to help people and maintain a good healthy relationship with the rest of the country. [...] I hope for a sunny day and will personally wish Princess Mari a happy 27th birthday together with the mayor." A further statement from the mayor revealed that extra police officers had been requested in neighboring provinces to bolster the forces of the current police of Neia Antigo, as well as paramilitary forces to hold key points in the city.

A nuclear power plant to open soon!
Published May 16, 2018 at 17:50 by Maria deFrazen

After years of construction, the Ostehaar Consortium for Energy Solutions(OCES) have released that they are in the final construction phase of a newly build Nuclear Reactor that will give enough energy to power our entire capital. Nuclear Energy seems to be a solution that our country direly needs due to the thickly grown landscape and so we can hope to benefit greatly from the efforts the OCES have put into delivering us with such capabilities. A spokesperson for the Astramian Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management had the following to say:

"We are grateful for the work this Oster company has delivered us over the years, they are on schedule and it seems that everything will go well. Even our local environmental parties seem to be happy with the result and the carbon footprint the building cost. This is to a green type of energy that would destroy the worlds Ozone layer like we have been doing for the last hundred years."

The opening of the plant will be in the middle of June, with the Ministry of Foreign affairs now drafting an invitation of Oster officials to come to our beautiful country and see its natural elegance, its plethora of tropical species and be decorated in the most beautiful of flowers.

News: Ramadan Begins with Gusto in Negarakita
The Holiest month in Islam begins, bringing with it hopes of peace

A Negarakitan family break their fast

Ramadan Mubarak to all of the world. Today marks the beginning of Ramadan, the holiest month in the muslim calendar, where we celebrate the revelation of the Quran to Mohamed (pbuh) and his message. It involves fasting from all food or drink between sunrise and sunset, in order to increase ones faith and honour god. While it may sound onerous to many of our readers, it is a great community experience and way ir us to feel closer to our god.

In Negarakita, with its large muslim population, many shops close down during the daylight hours. This makes it hard for non Muslims, with one Christian friend of mine, a man named Zefanya, complaining he had to eat at a fried chicken fast food restaurant because his usual noodle spot was closed down. While this is an inconvenience, the interfaith relations are strong and most Christians are respectful of the fast and do not eat in public.

The month has resulted in greater spirituality, with many faith based public lectures at the speaker's garden, an area in Negarakita which functions as a soapbox for people who want to spread their ideals. Nasheed.fm radio has reported far larger amounts of people tuning in every day.

Of course, part of our faith is looking out for the disadvantaged. We pray for the Muslims in Orsandia, who live in fear of the communist uprising and associated violence, and those living abroad such as Tumanese migrants struggling to make ends meet. We pray that all can experience peace this Ramadan. To non Muslims, I personally encourage you to experience the culture. Come visit an iftaar celebration, eat in the communal meal, and learn more about our faith. Good interfaith relations are necessary in society. And, for the love of god, don't ask "not even water?".

'Ramadan: The challenges of fasting for a month in Merhion
17 May 2018

Image

On Thursday Muslims across the world will embark upon a month long fast during daylight hours for the holy month of Ramadan.

The traditional fast is never an easy undertaking, but it's arguably much harder for those living in a non-Muslim, northern TWI country like Merhion where the days are long and the country's favorite hobby is eating and drinking.

Naturally being a predominantly Catholic country, Merhion is not really adapted to cater to the peculiarities of the holy month.

In some Muslim majority countries, schools and offices start late and end early, restaurants only offer special Ramadan buffets punctually anticipated for customers to break their fast, and even shopping malls trim down their hours, conveniently setting them between 9pm to 2am.

Yet some 7 percent of the national population belong to the Islamic religion.

So over the next month, millions of practicing Muslims will have to abstain from drinking, eating, smoking and sexual relations every day from sunrise to sundown.

With Merhion's current sunrise around 6am and sundown around 9:30 pm, fasting Muslims in Merhion are looking at over 15 hours of going without food and water.

A quest that many will find impossible to imagine let alone undertake. We spoke to several Muslims in Merhion about what the trials and tribulations of the fast are like.

Gilda Pulan, is in her second year of medical schoo and there's no doubt she would find Ramadan easier if she was back home.

“It's a lot easier when you're back home, during the summer" she said. "There's air conditioning, you can sleep until noon, and everyone around you is fasting, so you feel pressured to conform. Personally, it's become more of a cultural thing than a religious thing.”

She also admits that she fasts not just for cultural or religious reasons.

“To be completely frank, I fast when I wish to cleanse my body, it's really for my health," she said.

Some medical experts believe intermittent fasting can help one lose belly fat, lower the risk of type 2 diabetes, and may even help prevent cancer.

But this year the student says she will abstain from fasting because the holy month coincides with her important university exams.

"My exams start in a week, and honestly it's just impossible for me to concentrate while fasting. Your brain needs food to function."

Markets Recover as Foreign Investment Surges

Image

Damen Reimersma, Alexis Yang

Grottingon- Major indexes at the Grottingon Bourse have recovered near their six-month peaks, following a two-month slide from their March 4th highs. Analysts blamed escalation of the conflict in Orsandia, as Dormill and Stiuria, Ostehaar, and other Gaelic neighbors became involved militarily.

The bulls have returned, however, following upbeat reports on foreign direct investment, and buoyed by Q1 earnings across sectors.

Nora Kampen, senior investment analyst at Furman & Lester, says Michigonia is seen as a safe-haven for regional investors. "Michigonia's stability has served its markets well, even as Gael has been exposed to violent outbreaks as of late. As long as the government continues to signal neutrality, we see volatility begin to settle at the GroBo."

Faced with political pressure to intervene militarily, the Federal Council voted 5-2 against such action back on 3 April. President Ward voted "no" on the executive order, but has not ruled out exploring "humanitarian aid."

"We stand with all legitimate, democratically elected governments, including that of our neighbors in Orsandia," Ward said at a press conference on Thursday. "We are exploring ways to aid innocent civilians where we can, and we are working with our partners in the region to bring about a peaceful resolution to this conflict."

Government continues bitter remarks over political clash with Thuzbekistan.

During this month several prime businessman have stated they denounce their citizenship and move all work into Thuzbekistan, laying off all Aruian workers. In response many officials in the Aruian government and senate slammed the action both from opposition and coalition. Senator from the Aruian Economic and Social Justice Party stated: "it might be better this way, such action sending in one swing many workers out does not reflect the Aruian industry vision." Today in a government briefing president Valerio publicly stated "They can very much stay in Thuzbekistan for all the government is concern. Mister Del'gyano is known to be ungreatful in the business sector after several backings from the Aruian Trade and Commerce center to his efforts this is the thanks his workers get to remain jobless. I'd like to see him deal with Thuzbekistans communist working unions." Valerio stated bitterly. "As for Thuzbekistan, the AP-DU received reports that firm our stance. While Alaattin Cihangir is in Weinam we call Weinam to keep itself out of any Gael related issues should Thuzbekistan bring any of those matters there." He concluded. "While we are on that I would like to send a warm support to the Orsandian government and to Ainslie and D&S forces that are eradicating the sickness that inflict the nation."
In response head of the opposition from the Aruian Socialist Party came to senate wearing on his arm a white band with two green stars expressing protest against president Del'falcos statements. "Aruia should concern itself with its own borders, Delfalcos libertarian motives are what moving to slam Thuzbekistan while there are now founded evidence that blame Thuzbekistan. I call the government to publicly apologize and start mediating in prevent escalation."
During the oppositions exposure of the armband many senates from the liberal party expressed protest not allowing the head of opposition to finish her speech. Forcing the senate's gathering to end early.

An'derano Jilianos who denounced his citizenship was on his way to leave the nation while he was detained in Luvtar and taken to questioning. Jilianos has been working in the past with the AP-DU with what supposedly was sensitive information, he was released 5 hours later but was forbidden from leaving the country for 78 hours. "The Aruian government wishes to keep its brightest minds slaves to the capitalist system that was introduced in the 2000s. I simply wish to join my Thuzbek brothers." Terrorist Attack in Wake Atolla Kills 22, Svalbardian Military Dispatched

Thursday morning a truck exploded at the front gates of a Svalbardian Army Compound in the Wake Atolla Capitol, Kraitak. The explosion killed 22 people, 4 of which were Svalbardian Army Personnel.

The terrorist attack was carried out and claimed by the Free Wakeite Movement (FWM) who have been a nuisance since the late 90s. This is the first major attack by them though in two years. Currently investigators are trying to figure out where they were able to obtain the amount of explosives needed to create an explosion of this size. The explosion managed to level the entrance area of the Army Compound and caused damage to buildings around the compound and in the compound. While the death total was large, the amount of people injured by the blast numbers in the hundreds. Hospitals in the area are in urgent need of blood and any citizens are encouraged to help and donate blood. Already long lines are forming.

Due to this attack the Svalbardian Army assets on the Island have been mobilized. In the past the FWM has used the more rugged parts of the Island to hide in. As such it is advised that no citizens or Wakeites travel over the next couple weeks. Stay in developed areas, any people with plans to go camping or hiking should cancel those plans.

Illa Isle, Vancouvia

IDM-Sponsored Violence Erupts in Illa as Tensions Come to Boiling Point; Mayor Supports Terrorists Despite Congressional Removal

Over the past two weeks, a terrorist movement in Illa Isle has emerged: the Island Defense Militia (IDM), a group of armed radicals, mostly centered in Westilla, who have engaged in violent acts throughout the city and the island as a whole. Calling themselves the "People's Defenders" and claiming to seek peace and independence for all Illa Islanders, the group has continued to grow in popularity as their grassroots message has spread throughout the island.

This afternoon the Vancouvian Congress issued an address announcing that all members or supporters of the IDM are considered to be engaging in treason. This prompted the mayor of Westilla, Ignacio Campos, to issue a fiery speech from City Hall, claiming that no more Illa Islanders would be put to death by the "rampaging Vancouvian wolf." Ignacio, previously considered to be a competent conservative by Congress, was then immediately removed from office by a Congressional vote of 27-5. However, Iganacio continues to remain in de facto power, claiming that Congress has no right to interfere in local government affairs, citing the "clear" separation of federal and local powers in the Vancouvian Constitution.

This night, a relative calm has spread throughout the city as the IDM made known their intent to keep Ignacio Campos in power, protect Illa citizens, and peacefully remove the VNA and VSF soldiers from Base Tern on the outskirts of Westilla. Police have been called to multiple incidents involving the IDM, but a majority of them have refused to respond, or simply shown up at the scene but literally turned their backs on whatever violent act the IDM had been committing.

This seems to be the final straw that breaks the horse's back in a long string of incidents between Vancouvia and its newest island. Illa dissidents attacked and sieged Base Tern in December of last year, and Illa has since illicitly sent delegates to Hispanic and socialist conferences. Vancouvia has also pulled out of the Westilla E-Train project, a controversial move that took potentially billions of dollars of investment out of the Illa economy.

With Vancouvian soldiers already engaged in San Javier, the I.D., Athara Magarat, and Charbagnia, Congress will hopefully seek a peaceful end to this conflict, but most Senators are adamant that they will work to permanently remove these terrorists elements from power.

Jay Anderson embarks for tour around Mandeka

Yesterday, famous Williamsburg rapper Jay Anderson departed for his next tour, titled Jay’s Jam. He will be performing in Williamsburg, Bushby, Oolu City, Sandton, Sugartown, and other Mandekan cities over the next 2 weeks.

This tour comes after Jay’s latest album, Who dat!?, received great success not only in Mandeka but across the Isles, selling over 300 000 physical and digital copies in its first week. It was met with widespread acclaim from critics as well, praising it on its excellent lyrics, wordplay, storytelling, themes of corruption, police brutality and love, as well as its production.

All tickets have already been sold out. Anderson’s fans saved up for months to go to his concerts, but now all had to spend money. Jay, knowing the struggles in his home nation of Mandeka, gave away the first 1500 tickets of each concert for free, to people who couldn’t afford tickets. He stated in an interview with us why he did this:
I just want all my homies to be able to come see me in person, and listen to my messages at my concerts. A lot of people don’t know me for who I am in reality, so I wanted as many people as possible to experience that. And I know how many people struggle with money, I used to, so I wanted to offer these disadvantaged fans of me to still be able to come see the man behind the lyrics and flowing over beats in person, who is me.

Well, dat be al o’ de nuuz in de nation o’ Mandeka dis day. Big ups tu Jay Anderson fe his konstant kindness en humility. De shows will be good!

Bill to Increase Productivity Shot Down By Religious Right
5-20-18

Early this morning, the Islamic Socialist Party announced its intentions to jointly vote against the anti-religious "Increasing Worker Productivity Act".

The act, which was introduced by the International Socialist Party on Monday and was debated through the start of Ramadan, would abolish religious reasons as a excuse to take off work. The Opposition Party Chairman Harun Burak announced mere hours later that the Opposition would jointly vote no to the bill and condemned the International Socialist Party for attacking tradition in the name of a productivity problem that simply "did not exist."

The Vanguard Party's (which is made up of the top three socialist parties, including the Islamic Socialist Party) Chairman Atilla Lütfi stated that "the bill would not attack religious traditions, but ensure that there was a steady work attendance and to give the collectives the ability to punish those who skipped work."

However, the Islamic Socialist Party called it an "affront to the values of Islam and Socialism, which are forever linked, arm in arm, under God." Individual members were reported as having described the bill as an "attack on the faithful".

Ramadan, which is an important month in Islam, requires daily fasting and nightly meals. In some parts of Thuzla, it is common for the most faithful to take off work and devote their time to community projects such as improvement of park paths, working directly for a mosque, or going door to door and giving out baskets of food or needed items to the poor.

Now that the Islamic Socialist Party has sided against the bill, its 18 seats will decidedly kill the bill when it goes to vote tomorrow morning after the International Socialists and Democratic Progressive Parties rushed it to vote by a slim majority on Friday.

War in Orsandia: Oster Fighter Downed in Lahpso Taha Area- Possible Missing Pilot

Early in the night, an Oster fighter was downed by PLF ground forces. The downed jet was found later by PLF forces who videoed the remnants of the kill. A notable part of the fighter missing- the pilots chair. There was not a body and the seat appeared to be ejected. This has caused speculation that the pilot is alive and could be being pursued by the PLF.

"If the Pilot survived, the PLF would take him," a senior analyst said. "They would not stop until he was captured to either use as leverage against Ostehaar or as a source of intelligence."

There has been no statement from Ostehaar on the downed Fighter.

State Visit to Weinam: Closed Door Meetings to be Followed by Press Conference

After the Prime Minister Departed for the People's Republic of Weinam, there was much speculation as to what would be discussed. Aruia even warned Weinam against interfering in Gael affairs. This visit is likely to do just that, though, as both nations are embroiled in controversy in the Mesder and Gael arenas. What exactly is on the itineraries is unknown, though.

When the Weinamese delegation to the National Socialist Conference in Thuzbekistan declared its dedication to renew Thuzbek-Weinamese relations, many things were flirted with by analysts. Everything from simple trade agreements to massive military exercises and, by one analyst in Baslov, a renewal of the United Central Communist Republic. However, the Thuzbek Foreign Ministry has been unusually closed-lipped about the content of the many closed door meetings in the visit.

They did, however, promise a full press conference afterwards which "went into detail as to what was discussed and what the future held for the Republics' relations."

Until the press conference, it is uncertain that what may be involved in the meetings.

Success in Southern Rebel Occupied Territory

After sharp skirmishes with Weinamese marines and repeated pressure on King's Landing, southern Lortika has fallen to Ilsan soldiers, as Weinam's marines were withdrawn to defend King's Landing, which is still occupied by the enemy. Casualties have been great on both sides, but the entire south has fallen to brave Ilsan soldiers, and exile ships are being readied for Lortiks who have not chosen to assimilate.

SHOCK Behind Lortika!!!!!

Though the mysterious connexion between the cowardly assassination of the Duc de Bellemon and Lortik 'secession' was never fully teased out by the King and others in the Military Directory, a report released by Covonant's Intelligence Data Centre has announced ties between the two, specifically the usurper-pretender Eadwine, self proclaimed and self-crowned king of Lortika. As such, the Ilse has recognised as ceasefires in the process of being brokered null, and holds all armed foreign nationals in the Ilsan department of Lortika terrorists. As such, offensives against King's Landing, the department capital, shall continue. Though Ilsan intelligence generally confirms the estimates published by the Intelligence Data Centre, it has not yet been able to fully verify the connexion.

WEINAM FORCES RETURN HOME

Image

Weinam welcomed home it's military forces this morning as it returned home from conflict in the Mesder sea. Navy warships docked into Kelong Navy Base this morning after a 10-day strike against Belle Ilse en Terre in defence of the Lortik natives. Weinam lost 18 marines and 1 sailor in the conflict, including damage to a warship, though it's thought to be repairable.

The return of the Weinamese Navy was welcomed by crowds of hundreds who waved flags, sang the national anthem and cheered for five hours as the crews disembarked from the ships and met with awaiting families and friends. Admiral Jun Faong greeted the sailors and marines before giving a welcoming speech to all those present, including reporters.

"Today, we welcome back our brave sailors and marines who risked their lives for the people of Lortika. Weinam has insured that the people of Lortika are safe for the future. Our mission however sadly resulted in the lives of several of our marines and sailors, and so today must also be about preserving their memory and supporting their families at this difficult time. We have shown the world that we will not allow bullying and will act to ensure that nations like Belle Ilse en Terre will be severely punished if they choose such a menacing path"

The week-long visit between Thuzbekistan and Weinam concluded over the weekend in what is deemed to be a success. The meetings are the first in a few that have been planned including a visit by the Weinamese Navy to Thuzbekistan military ports which are currently ongoing for an unknown duration. The meetings are thought to be the foundation of stronger ties between the two nations and reaffirming trade and military pacts that have been present since the 1950's.
Weinam has also announced that it will stand 'shoulder to shoulder' with Thuzbekistan, as accusations of Thuzbek's involvement in the Gael conflict begin to surface. Weinam stated that it will assist Thuzbekistan though any political direction and ensure that it meets it's obligation as a friend, partner and ally no matter the situation. Weinam also responded to Aruian comments made recently by saying that 'Childish retorts have no place in the adult world and it would be wise for Aruia to go play in the corner while the grown-ups conduct the politics'.

|Gran Teran, May 21, 2018|

|Conservative Party Splits, Liberals Sweep Elections|
Good evening, this weekend national elections occurred throughout various state legislatures for members of the House of Confederates to be elected as well as in the Chamber of Congress. The elections came after a controversial transgender bill was passed in the Chamber of Congress with many wondering why conservative leaders would vote in favor of the transgender bill that eased transgender ability to run as a Confederate in government. Conservative Catholic leaders condemned the CCP vote in favor of the bill and many prompted a split in the party, preferably one more favorable of Catholic doctrine. So, on May 18, the Confederative Conservative Party split into two, despite President Canone's wishes otherwise. The Catholic political party, "The Catholic Papal Union Party" (CPUP), officially took form as President Canone himself was reluctant to head the party, becoming the first president of CPUP affiliation. President Canone is known for defending Catholic dogma and doctrine in Jimenean politics and was president during the time of the Theocratic Republic. He himself is a devoted Catholic and has opposed various legislation that is in contradiction to the belief of the Church. Many Atheist and Protestant conservatives remain in the CCP with Vice-President George Davis assuming the leadership of the CCP, despite himself being Catholic. Voters were incredibly split between the two conservative parties. Because of this divide, liberal leaders were able to carry elections throughout the nation. Currently, liberal confederates now hold majority rule in the House of Confederates with 112 members, compared to 48 CPUP and 17 CCP members. After recent legislation, the LPP is making incredible progress by passing the proposed bill that cuts federal funding to the Jimenean Catholic Church effective June 20th. The bill also repeals the Church's "tax-exempt" status. Church authorities, such as Archbishop Jerome Fowler, have gone as far as to demand that Cardinal Pius III issue a decree for the excommunication of the LPP members who voted in favor, nearly all. Cardinal Pius III has not, however, he has spoken of the event as "catastrophic" and "deadly" to Jimenean tradition and Catholicism. Cardinal Pius III has also issued solidarity with the CPUP and has called President Canone "a hero to the Church and the people". President Canone attempted to resist liberal legislation, however, any attempt to veto a bill had been overridden since the two branches of government are under the leadership of the LPP. President Canone is generally powerless in his attempt to defend Catholic doctrine and conservative values, he has said: "the LPP has ousted the president and is now disregarding the people's will for their own political gain". This event has shaken the nation to its very core and will definitely effect the future of the country, we will update you more on the matters in Gran Teran as they come, thank you for choosing the Gran Teran Gazette, goodnight!

Nuclear Enrichment Plant Begins Construction.

May 21, 2018

In an unknown location the Government of Balnik has announced the construction of a nuclear facility that will be devoted to enriching radioactive materials to use in future needs. The chief of the facility claims that the plant will be solely used to produce enriched materials for the purpose of future energy production for the country of Balnik, a country that solely relies on hydrocarbons and hydroelectric power.

However the program is under suspicion for suddenly obtaining the knowledge and processes needed for enrichment. Theories include foreign sabotage, collusion with an unknown benefactor, or private contractors being sent to Balnik. It is suspected that a nuclear power production plant will begin potentially a year later.

Primate Urban III condemns "legislative coup" in San Jimenez and weakening of Church authority

Image
Primate Urban III while delivering his speech at Notre Dame des Îles Cathedral

"For many years, it has seemed as though the rock-solid heart of our faith in the isles has been San Jimenez. The nation, with its strong majority of believers as opposed to the minority here in Negarakita, has served as a refuge during darker times but as a light of the faith and its value. It has been a site of pilgrimage for many a soul upon the path of God's light. And throughout this time, it has been the clarity of the government, one guided firmly in the eyes of the faithful by those that the people can trust to rule in the name of their father in heaven.

So it is an undeniable tragedy, therefore, for the very same nation to be laid low. Not by war, not even by election, but by internal politicking and treachery. Their president, Canone Bey, a man that many of us Catholics have known through his tireless defense of our faith, was elected by a democratic process. Surely, one would expect, that shows that he has the people on his side?

But no, this was not enough for the liberal opposition, who have rendered his power impotent through a twisted salami tactic that has undermined the responsibility and representative nature of their system. Almost overnight they have stripped away funding towards the church, that great guide of their nation, and enacted rulings out of the playbook of Satan himself. I know find the ironic point that Negarakita, a devoutly Muslim nation in many regards, pays more for the upkeep of the Catholic church in their nation than the people of a definitively Catholic-majority one.

This fact has revealed much to me. Catholics, and all other Christians, can no longer see interfaith relations as they once were. We used to see the Muslims as heathens, though they worship the same god and honour him in many similar ways. Nay, it is not them who we must fear, they who tend to us during lent and respect us when we so need it, who we aid with Ramadan, but those who do not share such beliefs. Those who tear down our institutions, attack our gods, and betray our beliefs.

The liberal-athiest culture arising in much of the Catholic world is a decided threat to us. We wish to love our neighbour, but they seem unable to love us back. If they stop their attacks on our faith, we can live in harmony. But the shepherd should not expect his sheep to live among wolves. He must defend his flock."

"Where's My Fancy New Mansion?"
Public unhappy with Modern Cosie's lack of progress

====

Caxaoh is waiting for money to pour in so that
he can build his new mansion.

REUNION - There is a growing lack of contentment across the Island Republic of Cosie, with many Cosians unhappy with the lack of progress made by President Giulian's Modern Cosie project.

The Cosian populace were expecting windfalls after a landmark announcement allowed open access to Cosie from citizens of the rest of The Western Isles. Nearly a month has passed since the layman island's ports were re-opened but, aside from the establishment of a few Isle embassies, many Cosians have yet to experience anything substantial from the arrival of Isle visitors.

"Giu promised me the world, yet I don't see the world clamouring for my prize-winning coconuts!"
- Caxaoh, coconut farmer

"Where is my fancy new mansion?" asked Caxaoh, a coconut farmer who recently bought himself a plot of empty land. The quoci expected increased demand for his harvest when Cosie's ports were opened to the rest of the Isles, but without much change affecting his business, Caxaoh found out he couldn't afford to build the mansion he long dreamt of. "Giu promised me the world, yet I don't see the world clamouring for my prize-winning coconuts! It's shameful: this 'Modern Cosie' nonsense is truly just nonsense!"

Local millionaire Shemour Brathwaite is also unhappy that the Modern Cosie project has not yet flooded his coffers with even more money. "With the re-opening, I thought my Horace (his pet capuchin) would finally be able to feast on expensive delicacies like caviar and truffle," said Brathwaite. "But none of my new clients are driving business up. I'm forced to keep my Horace subsisting on foie gras and bluefin tuna!"

The Cosian government made a press statement yesterday calling for calm among the people.

"Projects like Modern Cosie need time in order for us to see the fruits of our labour," said Moniqa de Soto, government spokesperson. "We must temper our expectations and let the project run its course. I assure you, on behalf of my uncle (President Giulian) and the rest of the government, Cosie will experience a prosperous future in due time!"

The brainchild of President Giulian, the Modern Cosie project is a multi-billion cob megaproject designed to make the layman island one of the world's richest and most advanced nations. The project has been active since Giu assumed office in 26 January 2017, leading to sweeping changes across the island that include a new national flag and the reestablishment of diplomatic ties with The Western isles.

National coffers boosted by record billion haul from speed cameras
26 May 2018

Automatic speed cameras on Merhionian roads are proving a healthy earner for the state with a record one billion pounds pulled in over the past year. And the record will likely be broken next year.

There are some 4,420 speed cameras all over the country and they have never proved more lucrative. By the year 2019, the Merhionian road safety department said the entire nation will be fully covered.

While state accountants will be rubbing their hands with glee, drivers in Merhions will be gnashing their teeth at the news that speed cameras handed out more than 1 billion Merhionian pounds worth of fines in 2017.

But the total sum paid out by motorists for all kinds driving offences was even more eye-watering with state coffers boosted by 2 billion in 2017. That's a nine percent rise on 2016.

That's a record haul for the state. But it looks like it won't stay in the record books too long, with 2018 set to bring in even more money.

The data was revealed by state auditors, which also revealed that €438 million of the speed cameras takings was used to pay off state debt.

But the government has no sympathy for drivers who might feel a little aggrieved at how much money the state had pulled in at their expense.

"It's easy enough to respect the speed limits that are in place," said Israel Rivers, a representative for the country's road safety authority. "I'd like to remind drivers that before every speed camera there is a sign warning them of its presence so it's up to each individual to take responsibility".

War Rages on in Orsandia

Image

Orsandian troops land near Arden Beach in Lihai, Orsandia to assist in evacuation operations.

Since the outbreak of what is being dubbed as the Second Orsandian Civil War, the city of Lihai has become the prime battleground in a war of attrition between the Communist People's Liberation Force, which the Orsandian government accuses Thuzbekistan of allegedly aiding, and the Orsandian Government backed by forces from Dormill Stiura, airstrikes from Ostehaar, and humanitarian efforts by Ainslie and Aruia. Lihai, a major port metropolitan city with nearly 2.5 million region has been subjected to weeks of chaos and carnage.

"I saw one of the communist troops head explode from sniper fire as we were evacuating towards the Arena downtown." said a resident of Waylen Heights, a hotbed of clashes between the PLF and Orsandian government. Airstrikes continue to occur in areas across the city, as evacuation efforts are kicked into high gear. Of the total population, 345,000 residents have been counted to have evacuated early, safely evacuated to refugee centers in Salsington or Yang Kong, or to temporary crisis camps in Aruia or Ainslie. Many Orsandian residents in Lihai have been displaced and anxiously await their chance to evacuate with aid from the Orsandian military and its allies.

During one of our field excursions alongside Orsandian military personnel, we witnessed a small, yet vocal mob of protesters savagely beating a suspected member of the PLF before being dispersed.

Citizens are once again asked to please avoid confrontation with unknown or openly hostile entities. Bring 3 articles of clothing, documentation, medication, and non perishable foods to your nearest evacuation center. Military personnel will be there to meet you and transport you to the main evacuation site in Lihai.

Orsburgh Steamrolls South Coast Highlanders in an Electric opening of the GFA Champions League

Image

In the opening match of the Gaeltic Football Association's Champions League, Orsburgh did not disappoint, with a commanding 4-1 victory over Ahnslen side South Coast Highlanders.

"All around, a pleasant performance" said a jubilant Jurgen Schmidt.

Orsburgh dominated a majority share of possession, relying on their deadly attack , headed by Ahmed Saleh, Reginald Li, and Aberto Cardenas to do in their opponents. Saleh scored the opening goal of the match, tapping the ball past the diving goalkeeper of South Coast. Wonderkid Reginald Li notched his 3rd hat trick of 2018, last being a beautiful bicycle kick into the goal.

"We did good today. The lads created chances for us to score, and we were fortunate enough to capitalize. Still have unfinished business" said Li in a postgame interview.

Orsburgh shall return to Orsfield in the 2nd leg, leading 4-1 on aggregate. The winner of the South Coast vs. Orsburgh bout will move on to play Dormill and Stiurian side Veldzicht FC, a favorite to move deep into the tournament.

Lortika Pacified

After scattered, but final resistance, most Lortik fighters have been captured or killed, and all centres of population secured. Lortik assimilation, has provided money for education at the local level for Lortiks who choose to comply with the provisions, with positive measures such as the prevention of Lortik firearm ownership, marriage to a non-Lortik, proof against accusations of targeting the Lortik race, permanent settlement of the locality they are relocated to, for at least one generation, learning of the local language, and a few other prohibitions designed to reintegrate Lortiks into Ilsan society. Many Lortiks have instead chosen the hardships of emigration, likely to the sympathetic Athara Magarat. Mist Lortiks had chosen by 22 May, the date of official Lortik capitulation in Several makeshift training camps were also found, along a fair collection of foreign accessories, many associated with Athara Magarat. It is generally assumed, but unconfirmed, that at least several SHOCK members received training in Lortika. Several Lortiks, notably the scoundrel Eadwine, have disappeared from Lortika, and have presumably fled to Athara Magarat.

With the lands of Lortika practically empty, and many examples of valour in the field of combat, one duchy, three counties, and many other land grants have been made. Remaining land has been sold by the Crown to pay for war expenses, on the condition of settlement. Due to the flotsam of war, new residents are being flown in to assume their lands.

Total Ilsan casualties are as follows:

Dead (click underlined to see listed names)

High Nobility: 2
Knights: 78
Freemen: Approximately 3000

Injured

High Nobility: 2
Knights: 125
Freemen: Approximately 5000

Lortik casualties are estimated to be above 15000, in addition to Magarati aircraft as well Magarati and Weinamese warships. Weinamese casualties are unknown.

Anti-League, Anti-Genocide Protests

What will likely be the first unsuppressed Ilsan protest began on Friday, denouncing planned League interception. The protest began awkwardly, with a core of people gathering signs in the vicinity of foreign embassies, eventually swelling with a number if knights and other commoners, growing about ten thousand strong. The protesting ceased briefly around lunch, when a large number of the participants descended on a number if restaurant proprietors who temporarily reduced prices in an act of solidarity, though a great deal of money was made anyway.

A second, smaller protest was also organised the following, requesting better treatment for Lortiks, also near foreign embassies, though its signs were confiscated.

Socialists Establish Plan to a Commune in Lortika

With money gathered from various sources, several socialist not in government have planned to bid and purchase land in the recently re-instituted Lortika, to be renamed as the province of Norland. The project has general support from a number of people in the House of Commons.

PRESIDENT YU STUNS NATION IN SHOCK RESIGNATION

Image

This morning, the Weinamese Central Government has announced that President Zhihao Yu has resigned his position effective immediately. Yu spoke to his government members this morning and announced his surprise decision to leave office. The decision is mainly believed to be the result of SHOCK ties to Lortika, who President Yu pledged to protect and defend from invasion and insisted upon sending a military force. The discovery of the SHOCK ties has put Weinam in an extremely difficult position globally which Yu takes personal responsibility for. Yu expressed anger, regret and sadness at the situation and felt this was the best course for Weinam's future. Yu was seen talking to government members briefly before being driven off from his former office to an undisclosed location.

The public has expressed shock and sadness from the news of which 98.4% had recently voted in confidence of Yu and his leadership. The leadership position is yet to be announced but current Social Affairs minister, Lin Zheng is believed to be a favourite, after current vice president rules himself out of the running. Zheng was seen arriving at the Government HQ this morning to meet with fellow government officials, believed to be the start of talks to appoint her the new president.

WEINAM ANNOUNCES ECONOMIC REFORMS

Weinam announced it was starting the process of deep economic reforms that will see the countries market economy become 'Socialist Orientated'. The process of this is where the state plays a decisive role in the economy, but private enterprise and cooperatives play a significant role in commodity production. The reforms will see Weinam's economy be divided into four stages: First, priority should be given to the development of agriculture, particularly food production. Second, industry should serve and assist agriculture. Third, oil production would stimulate the development of chemical industry and other branches of manufacturing. Fourth, favourable conditions should be provided for foreign direct investment.

It is unsure whether these reforms will begin soon, given the resignation of President Yu, but Weinam is keen to improve it's image and it's structure which begins with the economy and infrastructure.

Covonant Enacts Strong Sanctions Against Belle Ilse en Terre

Image

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the weekend published a list of sanction towards Belle Ilse en Terre which have today recieved ascent from the Consul. The sanctions ranged from the freezing of accounts for Belle Ilse en Terre nationals, to the extreme case of total diplomatic expulsion and barring of trade between Covonant and Belle. The statement from the Foreign Ministry expressed that it was the Union of Covonant Government opinion that Belle Ilse en Terre racist policies and institutions must be dismantled and extreme measure should be taken to ensure its failure. The statement also called on regional governments to make a bold stance against racism and xenophobia wherever it stands. The list of sanctions includes:

    1. Total freezing of accounts of all Belle Ilse en Terre government officials, ambassadors, business people, celebrities, and selected public and private sector individuals and institutions.
    2. The immediate downgrading of the Belle Ilse en Terre Embassy in Coventry to a diplomatic post-The Belle Ilse en Terre government is ordered to reduce drastically the numbers of Belle Ilse en Terre officials and staff at the embassy now post.
    3. The total ban on trade between Belle Ilse en Terre with the Union of Covonant and its Island Territory of Senoica.
    3. The removal of Covonantian companies and workers in Belle Ilse en Terre-Order to be repatriated to the Union immediately

Also expressed in the statement is the governments intent on increasing its military presence in the Mesder to lend assistance to those fleeing the country.

Image
Minister Abbasca speaking with the CBC

Foreign Minister Lydia Abbasca noted that Covonant respects and upholds the rights of all citizens, and will play her part in ensuring a safer more inclusive region for all. She expressed that the Belle Ilse en Terre government will find no support from Covonant.

We have to send a strong message that we do not support government that enacts racist policies worst yet enforces them. Belle Ilse en Terre since recent times have fallen short on being on good terms with Covonant but this one takes the cake. Enough is enough. The League has been met with disregards and disrespect from the Belle representative in the I.D and we call on nations to follow our steps to send a message that this action and policy will not be tolerated. We will also be advocating strongly to have them removed from major regional institutions including the League.

She notes that the Defense Ministry is routinely monitoring the situation in Belle and Covonant depending on the severity or extent of the crisis may intervene to restore order and defend innocent civilians.

We do not want to go down a militant route, we are hoping coercion and diplomacy will correct this wrong, but we are not shying away from using force if we find that any Covonantian lives are being affected to an extent we would determine dire. We however reiterate and support a League led initiative and so will cooperate with the regional community. For now the Ministry is looking to see how best we can provide a safe haven for Lortiks fleeing the country.

Minister Abbasca expressed that she have received reports from the IDC that suggested Lortiks may be engaged in terrorist activities around the Isles along with SHOCK, she however expressed that it is still not a good reason to ostracise an entire race when a few minority of that race partake in terrorism. She posits that Covonant and her allies are coordinated in their fight against terrorism and will work to remove such elements from the region.

Government Eyes 2030 Goal of Diesel Ban

Image

With numerous nations across the region making bold moves in their quest of being more environmental, the Covonantian government has join in the movement pledging their support and goals of a total ban on diesel by 2030. Minister of Business, Energy, Science and Technology Quintus Viatar expressed in his sectoral debate on Friday the government hope of a success with the policy. He notes that this not only provides a cleaner environment for Covonant and Covonantians but reduce the government's energy bill which is slated as being among the highest in the region.

Image
Minister Quintus Viatar giving sectoral debate in the Consul

The government believes it a necessary to propose and implement policies and legislation that is beneficial to all, and all being inclusive of not just citizens but the environment and those dependent on it most. We have to also be cognizant of the financial aspect when implementing new policies. We have one of the highest energy bill in the region and successive governments have done little to reduce the bill. This administration is being proactive in reducing the amount of energy we consume.

Minister Quintus expressed that Covonantians will have to align with the rest of the developed countries who have already started the process of cutting down on diesel consumption. He posits that alternatives must be explored and incentives provided to ensure its success.

Countries such as Alteran Republic and Noronica are already exploring how to use cleaner energy and to reduce their energy bill. We can't allow them to leave us behind. The government will be seeking partnership with both Alteran Republic and Noronica to seeing how best we can find technologically innovative alternatives to diesel oil, and Covonant will be seeking consultations with regional partners and stakeholders to ensure we remain on the right track. Incentives will also be a aspect we will look into, whether we increase the cost of diesel or we make electric cars more affordable.

Opposition Spokesman on Energy Caeso Herma calls the move unrealistic to implement in such short timespan. He however welcomes the initiative and notes that the previous administration were the first to implement a national policy on energy consumption and its reduction.

While we welcome this report and expressed that it was under the Imperatus Marl administration that such policies were created, and are pleased the new administration is looking to continue on the legacies we have left in place, we are disheartened at the short time the government is seeking to implement the new policy. The initial time frame was for 2040 to allow for a educational campaign to be launched and to allow ample time for major players in the energy industry to adequately seek alternatives and make their projections to suit their business policies and models. Why the rush. And who will win in the end if this is not sufficiently planned and stakeholders have a say in a policy that will affect everyone.

Minister Quintus expressed that the 10 year period is more than enough for corporations to get on board. He notes that a educational campaign is slated for 2020 when phase one of the policy is implemented.

Coalition of Six (C6) Turns Two

Image

In what is seen as the commencement of an eventful week, the Coalition of Six (C6) celebrates its two year anniversary today with major events slated to take place at the C6 headquarters in Coventry, Covonant. The C6 is seen as the largest military alliance to date surpassing the oldest regional military alliance, the MSTO with a membership of 7 member states to the MSTO 5. The C6 formed as a deterrence to nuclear warfare and to combat regional terrorism, has grown to become a recognizable force for good across the region, and is seen as a major contender to ushering a era of peace and regional security. At the launch of what is being call Coalition Week in Coventry, Secretary General of the C6 Keith Richards in his opening remarks at a function held at the Coalition Building (C6 headquarters) expressed his joy at the success the institution has achieved in its two year span.

The C6 started out of a zeal and hope that peace can be realised as done immense work to making the region a lot safer. The organisation has achieved most of what it was created to do but we admit that more can be done and more will be done. But congratulations must be given for the work the organisation has done thus far.

Prime Minister of Noronica, Joshua McIntosh who delivered the keynote addressed, expressed that the C6 has shown its relevance as a united force in the 21st century TWI. He notes that there is great cohesion and support among its member states but calls for more diligence in coordination.

The C6 has been relentless and unwavering in defending the ideals of liberty and democracy and pushing back every elements of terrorism. Whether our united efforts finds us in the forest of Athara Magarat, or the rocky hills of San Montagna, or the cold waters of Arvan, the C6 has stood up to the task of providing a safer region. What the C6 must ensure is that the goodwill of the members continue, and that the bickering and uncoordinated ways in which we may believe a task should be carried out must stay true to the ideals of cooperation.

The C6 is however not short of criticism. From being labelled a tool of Covonantian military doctrine to being seen as a regional instability maker with countries claiming the disruptive ways in which the Coalition handled the invasion of Athara Magarat, but for this week the good of the C6 will be on display with educational programmes being held in schools in memberstates as well as functions scheduled to take place in memberstates Ministries of Defense and its equivalent. The C6 headquarter will host forums for the remainder of the week with topics ranging from the history of the C6 to its future role in the region.

We here at the CBC will like to wish the C6 a Happy Second Anniversary

NEW WEINAM PRESIDENT DECLARES WAR ON SHOCK

Image
New President of Weinam, Lin Zheng.

Weinam has this morning declared war on the SHOCK terrorist group as news of ties to the Lortik emerge from the Lortika conflict. Newly elected President, Lin Zheng revealed plans for an all out war against the terrorist group responsible for hundreds of deaths globally at a government meeting this morning in central Teikong. President Zheng slammed the actions of the group and offered full repayments costs to Belle Ilse en Terre for the damaged caused during the conflict partaken under the last Weinamese administration along with an official apology to Belle Ilse en Terre for Weinamese actions. President Zheng was confident that SHOCK would be dealt with but stressed the need for international co-operation.

"It is my firm belief that Weinam should stand shoulder to shoulder with the victims of the SHOCK terrorism and see that this international threat is acknowledged and eliminated before it has the chance to strike again. Weinam will bring to bare it's complete intelligence and military strength against SHOCK and ask that the international community assist each other with this terrorism before it strikes again".

Weinam's intelligence services have begun work on identifying key SHOCK members with the assistance of Lortik collaborators rescued from the Belle Ilse en Terre conflict. It is unknown how Weinam's war declaration will be taken by the international community but a lot of people are surprised by the new direction taken by President Zheng as it seems that Weinam is keen for greater international cooperation and unity under it's new leadership.

WEINAM OFFERS LAND TO INTERNATIONAL NEIGHBOURS

Weinam has begun to draw up plans to offer land to international businesses as it starts a new economic radicalisation. Several key locations within Weinam's borders are being carved up and offered to businesses worldwide as Weinam begins to rebuild it's economic structure and international trade. Weinam sits on the border with the Central Canal Authority and sees the location as a prime trade route that businesses can take advantage of. So far some 23,000 acres of land is thought to be available with more to be drawn up over the next few months. Weinam hopes that the land available can draw in international trade and allow better exchanges between nations.

Top Football Teams Face Tough Competition in Round of 16

Verdon's two champion football teams did well to see their opponents off in the first two legs of the Gael Cup. Both Rodetza CG, and RCE Camarga will be going through to the round of 16 where they will continue to compete for the highest honor in Gael international football.

RCE Camarga was off to a rough start in their first leg against Haylem United. Luckily, veteran keeper and captain, Jaume de Asti, was able to keep out the few shots that came his way, including a spectacular save against Haylem's talisman striker, Rory Anderson. The Royals walked away with a nil-nil draw and had to find a win at home in the second leg. Fortunately, they were able to do just that in a game that proved to much more exciting. Two early goals in the first half left the score at a precarious 1-1 for 73 minutes until, in the 86', a wild sliding tackle from a Haylem defender caught Guilham Bisca in the box. Bisca successfully converted the penalty and Haylem couldn't retaliate in the dying minutes of the game with a man down. Camarga face steep odds in the Round of 16 as they go up against Oster champion and tournament favorite, Lindastir Union.

Verdonese champions, Rodetza CG, had a much easier time against the Yearidge Manticores, winning both games against their Agadari opponents. Filipe de Çerces managed 3 goals and 1 assist across both games, adding to his already impressive tally for the year. Rodetza had little issue during their games, particularly the second leg, which Oster Manager, Raan Sjehmor, called "A masterclass in tidy, efficient football." Alland FC will be Rodetza's next challenge as they attempt to make the Quarter Final in what should be a fantastic two matches against the Michigonian champions.

DOMESTIC: Suspected terror attack on Gresswell Island
Arnton, Ainslie
Worrying news has been emerging out of Gresswell Island, where reports are suggesting that a terrorist attack has occured on the island - with the island’s scientific research infrastructure being impacted. At 9:23am this morning, two men of Athara Magarati appearance attacked the South C research facility - just outside of Greston, the major settlement on the island.

Reports have also been suggesting that there is a subsequent hostage situation occurring in the facility, in a scenario which appears to be aimed towards raising the knowledge of the plight of refugees. The two Athara Magaratis remain in the facility, and are stated to have been likely been in the recent refugee importation into the island.

Many of these refugees have supposedly been feeling as if the international community has been ignoring them. This has further consolidated the spread of extremist ideologies amongst the refugees, and it appears that Gresswell Island may have imported this. The one police officer who is currently on the island has sustained injuries and is unlikely to be able to manage the situation - a situation which has left Gressiens confused and alone.

The Federal Government announced just after 11:00am this morning that ARSF personnel have been dispatched to respond to the active situation. The Governor of Gresswell Island, Keira Marshall, expressed her concern towards the incident, stating that it was the “first hostile act on the island in decades” before rallying the Gressien people to further lobby the Federal Government to increase the resources on the island - particularly the mental health and security measures on the island, which have been proving to be increasingly ineffective over the past few years.

It is not clear when the government will respond to these calls for increased attention, but the temporary deployment of ARSF personnel appears to be a step forward. The historically neutral island appears to be in trouble at the moment.

In addition, the Disciples of the End (DOTE) have sent a detachment to the island. The spokesperson for the DOTE, Lawrence Nacklen, stated that “the island’s neutrality is disintegrating, and the loss of innocence of said island is a sign that the outcomes of the Great Revelation are beginning. Thus, we must guide our fellow humans into the great light of the end.” Several prominent Whindists have labelled this as “paramount heresy. Only the LORD knows when the day will come.”

This is a developing story and little is currently known. More updates to come as we receive them.

DOMESTIC: “Joke song” sparks discrimination discussion
Anertah, Ainslie
A recent video clip unveiled by independent artist duo Ardarn who collaborated with Vucarian singer Tavares Thornton has sparked national discussion after initially going viral due to the nature of its content. However, discussion has continued and the stereotypes that the song brings up have been brought to the centre of attention.

The video highlights stereotypically, whether genuine or satirical, a common perception of those from the electorate of Arlanah - those typically referred to as cowboys who are “ecires” [economic wastes]. An interview with freelance journalist and academic Paran Levern sparked the discussion, where Levern referred to the song as “a canary in a coal mine, or a reinforcement of traditional, false beliefs”.

Afternoon talk shows have also had this as a central theme of their recent discussions, with various interviews with Adarn setting out the agenda and meaning of the song.

“We really did it for a bitta [bit of] fun…. Now we realise the scope and possibilities of this song and we are excited to see the social change it will hopefully spark”. The song also features a Vucarian, a nation whose people are not often featured in Ahnslen culture.

The song speaks of inclusion, whilst juxtaposing the melody with screaming cowboys which have been interpreted as people from Arlanah. Whether this contrast highlights an inconsistency in the generally inclusive perspective of the Ahnslen people is being debated on, and whether it will spark social change is a seed for tomorrow.
