Te Whanganui a Tara, 7 April — Fürstenbeck Schiffswerfte & Maschinenfabrik and Reich Werft Ardenfontein have started construction of the Taeletean Maritime Force’s second Commonwealth-class aircraft carrier. Originally scheduled to be completed in four years, it will be assigned to support Taeletean colonial operation in Vishpanyar. The carrier will be the thirteenth Taeletean ship to be constructed in the continent of Yohannes and to be fitted out in the Aristocratic Trade Republic.

To kickoff the first stage of construction, Reich Werft Ardenfontein workers began by putting the specialised high strength shipbuilding grade S alloy steel in one of its slab casting machines. “This will be our seventeenth production schedule week. Special design effort was taken to add these graded steels as additional materials. Reich Werft Ardenfontein website has listed the elements which have affected production cost the most, for instance energy use, obstacles to efficient automation, welder operator cost, and failures to meet schedule due to interpass or preheat during welding. “Some of these cost elements are attached with easily assignable costs. But, for other intangible benefit elements, such as increasing automation efficiency or increasing welder operators, well, it is hard for us to accurately quantify their cost benefit”, company spokeswoman Violet Stedecheinmayer reports before the Shipbuilding and Exporting Committee.

“Processing these thirty-something-tonne steel plates have pretty much been my days now. To be honest with you my arms are sore.” Unbeknown to the resigned technician, however, his contribution will affect the course of a conflict located beyond the seven seas. Kleinheisterkamp’s plight is one part of a wider 3.2 trillion Quertz russling (70 billion NationStates Dollars/Universal Standard Dollars) ten-year contract awarded by the Taeletean Maritime Force for the designing, production, component, and technology procurement of at least ten carriers, fifteen cruisers, and twenty escort ships and submarines.

Some advantages from this include the ability to realise increasing modularity of many rooms and spaces in the ship, which mean less cost and time spent on refitting and future upgrades programmes for the company’s Taeletean allied companies and sub contractors.

“Since the initial implementation phase of this project, at least fifteen deck units on the carrier have been joined into larger subassemblies. It will later be set into place on the carrier, and be inspected and welded by yet another disgruntled member of the proletariat,” quips local Heartland Shipbuilding Workers United union representative Max Cherry.

“The carriers, cruisers, escort ships, and submarines together make up quite the acquisition programme in the eyes of the Navy,” Taeletean government sources confirmed this morning. “This contract has committed us to a major investment to ensure the security of our colonial territories abroad. Looking ahead, it also contributes to the maintenance of our strategic deterrent.”

Designed to contribute to Taeletean maritime security for decades to come, Fürstenbeck Schiffswerfte & Maschinenfabrik, Reich Werft Ardenfontein, and other member-businesses of Royal Beaufort Shipwrights Guild are hoping to make use of years of science and standard technology development in industrial and naval assembly to ensure the latest order will be completed by 2030.

Astuana invests 200 million NationStates Dollars to buy main battle tanks

Te Whanganui a Tara, 11 April — Astuana’s government has signed an agreement worth 21.4 billion Quertz russling (two hundred million NationStates Dollars or Universal Standard Dollars) with VMK AG to procure tanks from a consortium of Yohannesian and San-Silvacian arms manufacturing and engineering companies, internal sources involved during its negotiation revealed yesterday.

Responding to media inquiry this morning, officials of the Astuanan state department have confirmed that President McHale has signed the agreement to buy ten T2009A4 main battle tanks, with Halstenmetall, Maschinenfabrik Halsten, Alexandros Babcock und Dampfkessel Werke, and Vickers Heavy Industries acting as primary contractors. According to Astuana’s news agency, the deal was officially signed with the condition that other Astuanan contractors will be included to act as domestic partners and suppliers. It coincided with an announcement made by Vickers Heavy Industries that it will sign a 1 billion Quertz russling (10 million NationStates Dollars or Universal Standard Dollars) agreement with at least three Astuanan subcontractors. The ten T2009A4 to be delivered will be equipped with domestically produced diesel engine and transmission system, the company website said. “They [the companies] have guaranteed that propulsion and transmission will run without problems for thirteen days’ worth of operation, which was the requirement set by Astuana’s military”, Griffin adds.

The San-Silvacian features advanced combat networking and fire control systems which can identify its target from nine kilometres ahead using its infrared thermographic camera. It is armed with a 120/L55 conventional propellant smoothbore gun; designed by Halstenmetall AG and originally inspired by the Federal Republic of Germany’s Rheinmetall designs.

The tank can travel at speeds of up to seventy kilometres per hour on road surfaces, though It is not advised to go past speeds over fifty due to elevated risk of injuries and wear of parts.

Moving on to the second stage, the battlecruiser is now ready to go through approval tests with the Adeptus Classis’ Board of Foreign Design Inspection for the next six weeks, which will see the thorough examination of all its apparatus and technical equipment. The tests will be done to establish the battlecruiser’s build quality assurance and sea preparedness before the eyes of Birtonia’s Adeptus Administratum.

“The De Ruyter-class ships will have under its repertoire the Wilhelm II and Knootian 43 integrated combat management system, which assimilates detection and counter-reaction information from the ships’ active decoys, guns, and missiles with its electronic surveillance, infrared sensors, and warning receiver radar systems, to guard the ships against aerial and littoral threats.” It enhanced the battlecruiser’s detection and reaction potentials against modern air warfare and ballistic threats, reads the Adeptus Classis’ website.

“The integrated system allows the ship to connect its multibeam three dimensional and narrow fan beam rotating two dimensional radars, amongst others, with other ships and aircraft to create an almost complete view of the battlespace.”

Birtonia’s future Commonwealth-class carriers, Waarden-class cruisers, and Indonesia-class submarines are currently under production with Fürstenbeck Schiffswerfte & Maschinenfabrik and Reich Werft Ardenfontein, with the first shipbuilding-grade steel for hull form to arrive at their factories from many supplier iron mills outside the nineteen countries next week.

Earlier this week, the People's Federal Army announced that it will begin replacing its aging Humvee fleet with a modern alternative. Although there were many contenders, including the LY83 Fox and LA-30 Magister, it was eventually determined that the Pseudonaja Protected Mobility Vehicle by VMK Defense was the best solution.

At first glance it is over a meter longer than its predecessor and over twice the weight, and the vendor does not specify towing or cargo capacity. However, due to its extremely well handling on rough terrain and passenger capacity it was brought in for testing. It's greatest feature was the standard STANAG 4569/LVL 2 protection offered by the vehicle, with options to increase to LVL 4. Towing capacity did meet Federal requirements for light artillery such as the MIV-45 Lightweight Towed Howitzer and the M130 Cazcabel Heavy infantry Mortar.

Other competitors such as the Lyran LY83 Fox were outright rejected due to their limited passenger capacity, while others such as the LA-30 Magister were serious contenders. The contract was almost split between the LA-30 and the Pseudonaja Protected Mobility Vehicle until towing results showed no significant difference. Although the LA-30 did have a larger passenger capacity, that was deemed not enough to warrant a second light utility vehicle in service.

Domestic Production Rights will soon be acquired with an initial purchase of 1,000 from VMK directly. The initial purchase will all include the LVL 4 armor upgrades and is estimated to have an upfront cost of 1.725 Billion USD.

Other focus of the agreement are the modernisation of armaments and radar systems for the ships; the provision of engineering and material disposal services; domestic project support; and the procurement and management of spares and electronic test equipment, a Parliament House official in Imbrinium said.

“The nature of the agreement reflects the fact that the government is trying to reduce costs as a short-term solution to smaller appropriations. It is prioritising for the maintenance of older systems and using supplemental appropriations for cheaper designs”, said the source, who wished to hide his identity because he did not have permission from the house to speak to the press.

The first ten ships are to be built at Cormond Shipyards in the economic and political centre of Imbrinium, and are expected to be available after 2023.

Te Whanganui a Tara, 23 April — Halstenmetall, Ignatz-Ewald, and other members of an arms manufacturing consortium in the nineteen countries will provide Astuana with four self-propelled air defence systems, the Ambassador of the nineteen countries to Astuana, Isabell Bethmann, has stated before the senior press gallery this morning. We are pleased that the Astuanan government has entrusted Fürstenbeck Schiffswerfte, Maschinenfabrik and Reich Werft Ardenfontein, and other member-consortium of RBSG with this important mission,” the minister said.

Meanwhile, one of the Kingdom of Alexandria’s oldest employers, a shipyard that builds ships for Royal Alexandria Shipbuilding, has also announced its participation in the Astuanan government’s programme with the hope of revitalising its declining operation since the 2012 Gholgoth Crisis.

A company spokesperson confirmed before the senior press gallery, “That Royal Alexandria Shipbuilding is constructing a shipyard in southern Astuana over the next two years, though I feel that it is too early for us to say whether we should create a foreign structure, or whether we should significantly add to our existing fifty-one thousand employees.” Royal Alexandria Shipbuilding said it will build suitable covered sites in accordance with Astuanan technical standards and laws, next to the capital port of Astuana to construct parts of containers and tankers, and manage an existing working piers for employees to work on ships. Minister Kirchweger said the project is part of the nineteen countries’ continuing effort to rebuild since 2012 and further intensify modernisation of the economy to 2025.

The Nineteen Countries Conference on Shipping and Trade reported that after passing a declining scenario in new shipbuilding order since the crisis years of 2011-2013, for the first time Royal Alexandria Shipbuilding books have shown clear positive trend. “The excessive orders received prior to the 2011-2013 crisis years created a disproportionate over supply of tonnage and this might need some more years to adjust even as the international community seems to be growing faster than ever before”, observed conference chairwoman Elisabeth Wahlgren.

“However, whatever the economic scenario of the international community, the shipping communities need to replace their old tonnages with new ones. Realistically, common sense will show that around fifty per cent of an international community’s total commercial fleet will have an average age of more than twenty years, amongst which the general cargo ship should cover quite a large share. Around fifty to sixty per cent of general cargo ship should realistically be more than twenty years old, unless the community of nations involved does not acknowledge common sense principles of economics. Therefore, there should be a huge upcoming demand of small size general cargo or multipurpose ship.”

Managing director Benedict Harnisch is scheduled to discuss the overseas expansion in detail at a meeting with central suburb Kelburn business leaders tomorrow morning.

Important Storefront Update

Hello! I will try to make this short. I don't have much time for NationStates anymore, and I feel that I've had my fun (to the max) worldbuilding and storytelling as fantasy, freeform NS MT, etc. nations. The problem with real life is... we have a lot of things to do, and there will be time when we have to cut back on our recreational (this case, NationStates) time. Cutting back on recreational time means that we must focus on "where to go from here?" and kinda concentrate on a smaller part of the game. I have decided to do just that.

I have had sooo much fun roleplaying in a freeform setting; as full NationStates population nation, fantasy, non-human, etc. But the time has come for me to cut back on my fictional NationStates time significantly (again, due to real life commitment) as a result VMK has been rebranded to reflect my new goal. Those who have been watching my in character threads since the middle of 2017, from the Archive of Government thread, to the Hansard parliamentary thread, to the Tales from Yohannes the continent thread, will know that I have focused more and more on realism modern technology worldbuilding. Note that this is not because I believe it is the best. I am still open-minded as I was; I love seeing Future Technology, non realism modern technology nations, etc., all I enjoy reading so long as the writers enjoy NationStates.

I have removed all designs that I feel do not meet the high standard I expect from my designs today in 2018. Furthermore all designs in this storefront will be strictly realism Modern Technology designs from now on. There will be new rules to follow also, which I have written @opening post.

I know that many people will dislike me for doing this. But I don't have much time for NationStates anymore, and the only thing I love doing lately (and I don't see it ever changing, for it has gradually been happening for me since 2017 um non-stop, yeah).

Thank you for your understanding. From here on, the company behind this storefront will be a relatively small fictional company (in comparison to some of the more humongous out there), and I hope that people will understand that (e.g. the fact that I won't be able to accept orders that are larger than a certain number due to lack of industrial capacity by the companies to produce the designs at such a fast rate, etc.)

Out of character: Thanks Wolfenium! Though the more cynical of players can also say that the reason I've done this is to get away from having to reply to 12 pages' worth of orders/IC posts (I honestly don't think I'll ever be able to keep up; so restricting myself to this will hopefully keep the IC orders down a lot/allow me to be able to get away from NationStates for months and not having to reply to a long list of backlog posts from other players

Another reason is the 2018 side of me not being happy with the quality of the designs of old VMK. Some - such as Dreadnought strategic bomber - has huge potential in terms of strictly MT (I liked the way I have drawn it back in 2015) but I'll need to make the writeup more informative before I can release that design for export again; otherwise for the 2018 side of me it's just a pretty picture and not a proper design (a design is not just a picture; it coontains informative writeup)

Initial payment as discussed in our discussion and meeting held over the last few weeks can be done through provided secured channels of any one of the following: Bank of the Atlantic, Bank of Yohannes, or Sacrosanct Bank. As agreed and stipulated by the Marshal of the Toquasian Air Force, our technical team will arrive in your facility to assist with procurement development, maintenance, support, training, and technical details to fully integrate the ZM-7L for the Republic of Toquasia Air Force. Further, the Luftwaffe Primary Training College in the Kingdom of Alexandria has indicated it is interested in aiding the training of Toquasian personnel.
