SUGAR LAND , TX (CNN) - A Houston area mother is outraged after a teacher jumped on the hood of her car as she attempted to drive through a blocked off entrance.
However, a group of parents are standing behind the educator, saying he was only trying to protect the students.
Cellphone video shows Dulles Elementary School teacher trying to keep a parent from driving through a closed entrance during a school drop off on Wednesday morning.
Witness Destiny Ray say she and her mother were running late for the STAAR test at the time of the incident.
She says her mom was trying to drive around the cones of the blocked off entrance but her mother became furious after the teacher crawled on and off the hood of the car.
Ray says the teacher did not think about the consequences of what he was doing.
Her mother made a complaint to the Fort Bend School District.
Parents who support the teacher’s actions have created a petition online that says, “We ask that no adverse action be taken against this teacher. He clearly was driven out of concern and protection for our children.”
Local resident Deron Herrington is among those supporting the educator.
Herrington says the school has had a number of safety issues and the teacher has always worked to make sure the school is safer.
So I only heard about this through my educator friends but to me this is a pretty bad story, a parent decides that, because she's running late, that she's allowed to drive around several barriers and teachers ordering her not to in order to drop off her students. She ignores the first teacher waving her away and keeps on going, when the next teacher spots her he decides to be a little more direct, while her daughter records the whole event, the teacher jumps on top of the car and proceeds to try to order her to turn back, the parent, instead of stopping, decides to keep on driving while yelling and ranting at the teacher while her daughter records the whole thing.
And then she has the gall to go on the news and act like she was in the right and he was in the wrong and demanding that he be punished.
To me this seems to be an open and shut case of an entitled parent thinking the rules don't apply to her, but it seems the media thinks otherwise. what say you NSG, I know there's some educators here, in this era where people have decided to use Vehicles as a device of mass murder, is it to the point where teachers are expected to throw themselves on cars to stop them, do you think she would have done this action if it was a cop there instead of a teacher, or would she have kept driving and possibly run over a cop because her running late is more important than everyone else?
Could the teacher have done something different, should he be punished, should she be punished?
