Character Application

Name: Juliette "Julie" Bellerose
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Race: Human
Appearance:Image
Juliette stands at 5'6"/171cm, and weighs 132 lbs/60 kg. She has a petite frame, and walks with a bounce in her step. She almost always wears a smile.

Position/Status/Affiliation: Currently just the Archbishop of Kindness to the Cult of Virtues.
Skills/Powers//Magic: Juliette is an incredibly well trained magician, excelling with the knowledge of how to use White Magic. She mainly uses light magic, in which she creates things like hard light constructs or bright glares to blind and otherwise disable her opponents without harming or killing them. She occasionally uses Ancient Magic, but only when her options are limited and she doesn't have any other choice. This is what she will use for self defense more than anything, and because she wields a holy relic as a weapon, she has better control over it than most others. She's mildly skilled at hand-to-hand combat, but is mostly trained to use her magic or her swordsmanship. She's also very charismatic, and is excellent at talking herself and others out of otherwise negative situations. Because many of her attacks/defenses rely heavily on magic, she's learned how to reserve and otherwise make the most of her mana to withstand long, drawn-out battles. She's also been gifted with the Blessings of Benevolentia, a spell that influences those around her to be kind and helpful to each other.
Equipment:
  • Her "uniform" as she calls it, which is what she's wearing in the picture above
  • A mana potion "just in case"
  • Her rapier, a holy relic that she carries with her everywhere. It's a light gray color that has an embellished, gold handle, while the blade itself is thin, and has golden inscriptions written along its center on each side. In the dark, it almost seems to give off a soft, golden glow. She calls it "Benevolentia's Will."
  • A small booklet of spells, just in case she forgets an incantation or two. She reads it nearly daily.
  • A blue, crystal necklace that, when held in one's hand, can instantly create a magic circle around the creator for defense purposes, a solid-yet-opaque ball of light that is fairly hard to destroy. It can be cast on the user or at an enemy, since the circle can only be erased by the one whom holds the necklace. Because it uses a lot of mana, Juliette doesn't use it often.
  • A golden compass that, when enchanted with a spell, can lead the user to their desired location. Juliette often uses it to locate her enemies.
  • A bottle of what seems to be golden ink that, when placed upon an opponent by the user alongside a simple incantation, can place the opponent in a state of temporary paralyzation, sleep, or a phase of undeterred kindness, whichever is preferred. If the state of kindness is initiated, the opponent must do whatever good deed the user tells them to. It is only temporary, lasting maybe an hour or two, so it can't be used for anything too serious. Juliette usually uses it in desperate, close-quarters situations, or for fun against petty criminals.
  • She carries a small silver ring that holds a pink, almost red stone which she can use to communicate with other members of the Cult of Virtues. Others must be near a mirror, hold a similar ring, or by a reflective surface to communicate.

Personality: Juliette is a naturally kind-hearted, helpful, and compassionate human being. She finds joy and happiness in helping others, and she's always happy to see compassion and kindness in others. She's known to be quite forgiving, never ceasing to give others a second chance, and believes that even the most evil people truly mean good at heart. She's known not to be the most level-footed or...level-minded person, for that matter, and is often seen as being ditzy or otherwise airheaded, since it almost seems crazy to believe all people mean good. She can be a bit oblivious to things, but overall, it's understood that no one could do better than she does at being the Archbishop of Kindness. She can sometimes cause mischief on accident due to her clumsiness, but it's always forgiven, knowing that she always means the best for everyone. This also means that she has a habit of letting people get the best of her, and becoming trusting and loyal to the wrong people...but in the end, even if she gets hurt occasionally, she never ceases to be the best Archbishop she can be.
Moral Alignment: Neutral to Chaotic Good...she can be all over the place sometimes. :p
Biography: Juliette Bellerose was born in Duivene, in one of the more wealthy parts of the kingdom. Her father was one of the knights of the kingdom, and as such, they were giving a comfortable way of living...but it didn't last long. At a young age, Juliette's father was killed in a scuffle with an Archbishop of the Cult of Sins, alongside another knight. At first, they were pitied and left alone in their lifestyle...but after a few months of the two silently living in the section, and because her mother didn't work, the two were removed from their home and told to live in one of the lesser wealthy sections of the kingdom. Juliette's mother quickly got to work, and Juliette, as she got older, found herself envious of the royal family and all the wealthy people above them...when she began to speak of this, how she hated how much better they lived than them, her mother slapped her and told her how wrong that was to feel that way. She was terrified that Juliette would grow so green with Envy, the Cult of Sins might take her...so she began turning her towards a life of gratefulness and kindness. Juliette learned from her mistakes and vowed to follow this way of life, and soon after, the Cult of Virtues claimed her. After a year or two of happily following the ways of Benevolentia, she was given the position of Archbishop of Kindness. From there, she made it her mission to try and get anyone she met to be kind and do good, as she'd always vowed she would. She also soon discovered that none of that could entirely be done if she didn't go after the Archbishop of Envy, her mortal enemy, the one who opposed her goals...and so she left all she had behind, her mother, her life, the Cult, and began to trail after him.
Goals: To see the end to most, if not all evil, and bring kindness and goodwill to the world, as well as happiness. She wants the best for everyone.

Character Application

Name: Damocles "Dax" Castell Pennington
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Probably pansexual, since he really doesn't care who he sleeps with as long as they're his target, and he can use it as leverage to get them to a weakened state and kill them.
Race: Human
Appearance:Image
Dax stands at 6'3" and weighs around 170 lbs., as well as having a lean, tall, and thin build. While fairly strong, Dax relies mostly on his weaponry, skills, and magic to carry out his kills.

Position/Status/Affiliation:Well...he's a serial killer. As such, if he has connections, no one knows of them...but he most definitely works alone. Inheriting his family's money has given him a position as a wealthy/notable, but otherwise, he has no status or affiliation.
Skills/Powers//Magic: Cunning, manipulative, smart, Dax has an unnatural skill at manipulating people's thoughts and feelings to his personal benefit. Charismatic when he chooses to be, he is often able to escape accusations or even the slightest hint of doubt with a smile and a few words. He's also very good at reading other's body language or facial expressions, often helping him to gain information about possible victims or their acquaintances. While not necessarily physically strong in all aspects, Dax is well educated thanks to his wealthy family, as well as being trained in the field of magic by his father. From here and studying a few different works on the craft, Dax has the skill of shadow manipulation, using such a magic to give himself cover after killing his victims if he's about to be caught, as well as using it to restrain, trip, or otherwise capture and end his targets. However, having not truly been educated by a master of magic themselves or anything really close to the sort, with enough effort, his magic can be evaded.
Equipment:
  • A small leather folding envelope that contains an array of differently sized knives, small enough to fit in his inner coat pocket.
  • Leather gloves. Easy to wash.
  • A small golden locket in his inner pocket, inscribed with the words "For you, I give my world." on the inner locket door.
  • A small, white handkerchief.
  • A roll of bandage-like cloth...just in case.
  • A small, hidden mana potion.

Personality: Cold, cunning, and manipulative, Dax has little care for anyone unless it's in relation to his own personal gain. While normally both feeling and conveying no emotion, he has an unnatural knack for placing a convincing, fake personality for himself if he feels the need to win someone's favor. He cares nothing for other's lives or beliefs, and only feels joy or ecstasy in the thrill of the kill. He often kills just to feel, and finds anything other than such to be boring or uninteresting. Rarely as it is, the few times he shows true emotion may be found...not enticing. While very, very clever and careful, he does have the...occasional snap. He is, perhaps, the textbook definition of a psychopath.
Moral Alignment: Errr, he doesn't really fit in...but if anywhere, probably neutral/chaotic evil
Biography: Even as a child, it was easy to tell that Dax was not normal. A single child to two wealthy parents whom were often busy running their large merchant company, Dax was often isolated with books and his own thoughts. As it might be predicted, Dax never had an interest in the books his parents gave him, nor the friends they tried to introduce him to from other wealthy families. He spent much of his time outdoors, dissecting insects and small animals, sometimes even killing them just to do such an act. He found glee only in such atrocities, and as such, began to experiment with it. From frogs to local cats, Dax began to feel a hunger to experiment on larger subjects; and it was at a young age that he found his first victim: a younger, smaller homeless boy he'd found interest in on one of his parent's occasional outings to the local city. He strangled the boy to death, and found no greater joy or happiness than he did in that moment, watching the life drain from another human being...filled with sudden excitement and emotion he'd never experienced before, he reveled in the moment. He hungered for more of it. And yet, he was still smart enough to know it was best not to go around recklessly killing anyone he cared to. So, it was here he began forging his skills in a fake personality; a fake sense of normalcy...no one would suspect a small, kind, happy child of murder, after all. And...it worked. As he got older, the more sharpened his skills became, and the better he became at lying. He ended his parents lives without a second thought, successfully carrying out the act, and staging it as a murder-suicide. No one thought to suspect the young boy to be capable of such a thing...and without any proof, there was no need to accuse him of anything. Inheriting all of his parents wealth as well as the merchant company, Dax had little to no limits on the desire to go and do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted; the freedom to experiment and kill far from his home, somewhere no one could recognize him. And so, that brings us to current time...
Goals: Not really...he just kind of...is. He doesn't have future goals atleast. His only real goal is to kill who he chooses to target and successfully carry it out.
Theme Song: Aviators-No One Will Save You

RP Sample: hahaha, you're funny. :P

Miscellaneous: Worry not; I won't have Dax kill/try to kill any PC's unless the player wants such a thing :P

Looking at the lore, I noticed you mentioned that the Karaki/Orks only arrived to where they are, a few centuries ago. I wonder what that part of the map was like before they came from the east?

It was still pretty much a steppe, but it wasn't all that different from how Velikiya was. Filled with small realms and all sorts of tribes. The Thyrians had a huge road going through the middle of it, guarded by mighty castles and forts, but it slowly fell into disrepair. The Zemrai and the Loroi protected it for a while, but after the wars between those two races that happened like a millennium after the Calamity, the Zemrai took over it in its entirety. And then the dwarves themselves slowly started to lose control over it, and some of the human realms there stepped in. But now the road is a ruin. However, like Velikiya itself, a large part of these steppes suffer from the same magical winters, when the sun becomes black and temperatures plummet.

I'm talking about the portion of this that is the closest to today's Velikiya. There were also stories of a mighty kingdom to the northeast, and it's also said that most of the dragons who escaped Thyria's wrath were hiding in the north, but those were mostly legends. The tribes and realms of the steppes were vassals of the Silver Throne, but the region turned violent after the Calamity. The Yazgirians used to constantly fight against the other human nations there, until when the Karaki arrived, destroying everything in their path.

I’m also curious as to the extent of that big Loroi/Elven realm at its height, and when that was (also how it might have left its mark on territories now outside Loroi control, be in physically, or in the tales and legends of people in those lands). I know their empire's height was “long ago” though that doesn’t tell me much. :p

Well, their empire was long ago. A couple thousand years before the Calamity, and at that point they controlled nearly all of what are now the Human Realms. It was Thyria that led the human rebellion against their rule. It was during these wars that the hatred between the two types of Loroi started, and that's when their realm broke into two.

They had a short moment of glory a few decades after the Calamity, when the were reunited by a Vorian male and a Galarai woman who tried to bring back the Concordat of Gold and Silver. They conquered parts of what is today coastal Velikiya, Anselm, and Calaria, but it collapsed when those two were killed in a weird event while they were trying to rebuild the tower of Anm Thalor.

And the Loroi did leave their mark. Not only in the tales and legends, but also in physical stuff. The Human Realms are filled with Loroi ruins and artifacts, and there are still groups of Loroi and half-Loroi that live in all these lands.

Character Application

Name: Juliette "Julie" Bellerose
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Race: Human
Appearance:(Image)

Did you read the Rules?: Yes >w>
Miscellaneous: Worry not; I won't have Dax kill/try to kill any PC's unless the player wants such a thing :P

Homicidal maniacs are so fun, aren't they? :P

Also, I really love the bit in his backstory about the small animals, 'cause a lot of serial killers do start that way and the accuracy pleases me. :D

(Two of my classmates enjoy dissections more than they should. I am considering seeing if I can put them on a watchlist. :P)

I mean, in fairness, my homicidal maniac is pretty emotional. XD

It makes me happy. *hugs* Thank you for trying to write an accurate serial killer. (Bet that's a sentence you never thought anyone would say to you.)

Were Thyrians the first civilised humans, and did they start being civilised when the Loroi were ruling over humans?

Dissections were very fun.

Kinda sad that we only got to do one once...dissecting a pig's heart.

Oh how we dissected it! One of those weak livered milk drinkers in our group even fell unconscious (Granted he already felt shit the moment he saw blood so it was no surprise. Btw, he wants to have a medical career.).

But yeah, using them scalpels and cutting and sawing around in that piece of fresh meat was funny.

Yeah, but I like the idea of a cold, calculating, careless killer mostly because I get to experiment with how someone who is devoid of emotion might feel in a high stress, high drama enviromment x3

They weren't the first civilized humans. How exactly humans appeared isn't known, but they advanced pretty quickly, learning from both the Loroi and the Zemrai. They had various proto-kingdoms in what are now the Human Realms, similar to the real life ancient human states, plus some magic, but they were all under the control of the Loroi. The Loroi generally allowed the humans to rule themselves, as long as they remained loyal. But then, as the humans developed, so did their desire to be truly free, and that clashed with the arrogance of the Loroi who considered themselves to be the clearly superior race. Some human revolts were defeated, but then the Silver Throne was found, and the mages of a new state known as Thyria managed to create the Magic of the Oath. With the Silver Throne and the Oath's Magic, the Thyrians quickly surpassed all other human states, and they started to lead the war against the Loroi.

Well, it helps that I've read various fantasy books before, and I'm sort of combining it with my own knowledge of history, archaeology and mythology (and stuff I've looked up on the internet, and a bit of my imagination).

Since my character is an undead necromancer (+host to a eldritch abomination) that's been around for a while, I've also been thinking how they may have ended up in certain legends and whatnot, and I've also been thinking of some of the epithets/nicknames some would have given him.

When the Thyrians became the dominant human state, I'm assuming that they gradually conquered the various human states to form a united empire over humans, as you've mentioned before. Did they do the conquest after the Loroi collapse, or did they incorporate the various human proto-kingdoms into the Thyrian empire while during the war against the Loroi? Or a bit of both, perhaps?
