Becoming Catholic was a big part. I wanted to dive into the philosophical traditions of the Church. I followed some monarchists on Twitter. Browsing the Josias, this post in particular. Reading through this thread on Twitter.
Roman Catholic. Monarchist. Learning Latin.

The devil appeared to a monk disguised as an angel of light, and said to him, “I am the angel Gabriel, and I have been sent to you.” But the monk said, “Are you sure you weren’t sent to someone else? I am not worthy to have an angel sent to me.” At that the devil vanished.

It still doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. It has an air of being a fringe ideology that not many people would take seriously.

I don't find the time preference of monarchies to be a strong enough argument for them.

The only monarchies I tolerate are ones with significant checks and balances, somewhat defeating the point. A government is different than property in which if the "owner" of government, such as the king, abuses his subjects, there is no recourse for his subjects to vote him out or do anything except installing a bloody violent revolution. And of course, the very nature of the king or queen "owning" the people is against my beliefs.

More evidence that modern attempts to impose Monarchism are reactionary, nothing more. They bring nothing new to the table. As I said earlier, ideologies that blatantly refuse to adapt to the changing zeitgeist are doomed to failure.

What is it about monarchy that would make someone want them back? Monarchies are an incredibly outdated government system.

In some cases I think it is because people have a romantic view of them, anchored in things like medieval fantasy novels, as well as the Arthurian legends etc. Perhaps people desire a return to the supposed values of that time, such as gallantry and chivalry etc.

Eugh, I hate being grouped with anti-democratic and Dark Enlightenment crowds. Besides disagreeing about democracy, they tend to support a new monarchy that resembles a D&D fantasy rather than the actual historical ones, such as favoring dissolution of nation states and creating CEO Kings of city-states.

Why would they want to dissolve nationstates? Centralized monarchies were the driving force behind many of the oldest nationstates.......

Not at all, monarchies are still running strong in many parts of the world. I don't “want them back,” considering the Japanese monarchy is still around.

Yes, and the Imperial family has zero political power. Modern constitutional monarchies may as well be republics.

Because of a world war, rather than monarchy being outdated. Most constitutional monarchies have some political power, the imperial family is an exception.

tbf most of the european dynasties their political power is power on paper, theoretically they have the authority to do quite a few things but in practice any willful exercise of that authority beyond going through the motions would not end well.

This is quite similar to what I said, in that this "second wave" of support for monarchism has its root in depictions of monarchism in popular culture, including Game of Thrones and the like, even though such depictions often bear only a passing superficial resemblance to actual monarchies.

I think skepticism about democracy is perfectly reasonable, but it seems like many of the Dark Enlightenment types are too secular and pro-capitalist. Firstly, I think that proper political authority should be based on divine right, not the will of the people or the majority. Furthermore, I think that along with democracy, capitalism is one of the main problems in the modern world and that it would be better to return to a distributist or a guild-based system to reign in the destructive forces of modern capitalism. Furthermore, making a CEO king would mean giving more power to the bourgeoisie and its materialistic value system, instead of actually restoring the aristocracy and their values of Christianity, noblesse oblige, and such.
