"Et tu, Brute? . " - Some traitor of little import.

As the manifesto dictates, the joyful cycle of the RWDT continues. This thread, beset on all sides and with enemies within stands proud in continuing one of the longest traditions of rigorous debate, impeccable ethics and deep philosophical explorations that are sure to enrich your life. Be it the glorious revolution or how much you adore Cromwell, the thread offers a range of options to debate from. It features some of the most respectable and alright people on the boards and we ask that you conform to these practices with heart and soul, as everyone moves forward towards the ever glorious past. We hope you will find your stay in RWDT pleasant, and we hope you will contribute with hard work. Or else.

Welcome all to the Right-Wing Discussion Thread (RWDT), a place where we discuss all matters appertaining to the right wing-spirit. This is the eleventh instalment of the thread making it NS's most beloved and controversial spots to engage in deep discussions that will no doubt bring fourth the fruits of wisdom and change your life. We ask the users to go by a dual-principle of being lenient towards the topic, but also understanding if things really get too off-topic and if necessary correct themselves. In particular, be cautious not to have too extended theological debates if it has little to do with the sphere of right wing policies in general. We thank you for your understanding.

Suggestions for improvements, changes, or additions is as always welcome.

Relevant subjects for discussion include:

  • The politics, philosophies, and ideologies of the right.
  • Right-wing perspectives on economics and political economy.
  • News and history relevant to the political Right.
  • Right-wing responses to current events.
  • Right-wing perspectives on social and economic problems.
  • Political, social, cultural, and economic problems and their solutions according to the political Right.
  • The problems facing particular Right-wing movements or the political right in general, and how to resolve them.

Old Tyrannia wrote:RWDT regulars as characters from Tolkien's Middle Earth legendarium:

- Conserative Morality: Ar-Pharazôn the Golden, twenty-fifth and final King of Númenor. He believed unfalteringly in the greatness of his kingdom, and that it would never end; and his confidence led him to invite a corrupting and evil influence into Númenor, believing his enemy to be irrevocably defeated. Instead the Númenorean Empire was destroyed from within, and Ar-Pharazôn was remembered as both the mightiest in power and most vainglorious and foolish of the kings of Númenor.

- Dumb Ideologies: Saruman the White, self-styled as Saruman of Many Colours, known of old as Curumo, the Skillful; once the greatest of the Istari sent to Middle Earth to aid in the final defeat of Sauron, the Great Enemy. He spent too much time trying to understand his enemy, however, and gradually his tinkering in the dark arts led to his own corruption and fall into darkness.

- Herskerstad: Denethor II, twenty-sixth and final Steward of Gondor. For many years ruled wisely and was respected by the people of Gondor, but became bitter and jealous of his power which he had no intention of ever actually forsaking, forgetting that he was merely custodian of Gondor and not its rightful king.

- The Parkus Empire: Thranduil, King of the Woodland Realm. Cautious, severe and occasionally callous, viewing outsiders with contempt and preferring to keep his realm isolated from the happenings of the outside world. Views other peoples, particularly dwarves and men, as morally compromised and unreliable.

- The East Marches: The Master of Laketown. A silver-tongued politician uninterested in higher moral quandaries, his principal concerns are with personal wealth and prestige. Fond of realpolitik and occasionally a masterful troll.

- Benuty: Tom Bombadil. Mysterious and jovial figure; his past is shrouded in mystery, but there are hits that he is something far greater than he appears, and of eldritch origins.

- Kubumba Tribe/El-Amin Caliphate: Ulfang the Black, chieftain of the Easterlings in the First Age. An untrustworthy figure with ties to the East who swore allegiance to Caranthir the Dark, son of Fëanor, only to betray him to Morgoth.

- Reikoku: Bór, another Easterling chieftain of the First Age. Unlike Ulfang, Bór was an honourable warrior who remained true to his promise of fealty to the Noldor, only to be tragically cut down at the Nírnaeth Arnoediad following Ulfang's betrayal.

- Fahran: The fair lady Galadriel, with her consort Celeborn guardian of Lothlórien. Although no stranger to pride or to the desire for political power, particularly in her youth, she was amongst the longest-lived and wisest of all the elves in Middle Earth and had the good sense to distrust Sauron when he came to the elves in the guise of Annatar, the "Lord of Gifts." In the Third Age, her will was strong enough to resist the allure of the One Ring, even when offered freely to her.

- United Marxist Nations: Sauron the Sorceror, Dark Lord of Mordor, known of old as Mairon the Admirable. Once amongst the greatest of the Maiar, his desire for order and dislike of wasteful friction led him to become enamoured with the great power of Morgoth, and ultimately corrupted by the powers of darkness. He nonetheless retained enough of his former virtue to remain loyal to Morgoth during the First Age, and was notably wiser and craftier than his master, playing a part in all of Morgoth's machinations.

Of course, I too would be a good match for Sauron, as I was corrupted by dark forces through my desire for order, and my eye, like that of Sauron, sees all :p

- Felrik: Thrór, son of Dáin, King under the Mountain. A capable ruler, courageous, proud and honourable, but prone to lust for gold and jewels (probably not helped at all by the ring of power in his possession).

If you’re interested in discussing matters relating to the political left, we advice contacting Marches who runs a helicopter business and is sure to give you a birds-eye perspective on things.

Wasn't 'Et tu, Brute?" said by Caesar? Or did you mean that Caesar is the traitor and not Brutus?

So for poll options, any ideas? I'd be quite fond to do something on the family structures and family types since History has quite a few geographic variants of such.
