Very nice suggestion, I'll definitely keep it in mind. Obviously nothing so drastic in the early days, but I'm definitely open to bigger events if we get that far.

NS Name: Newne Carriebean7
Full Name of Country: Democratic People's Republic of England
Flag:
Image

Capital:London
Type of Government: Congressional Monarchist Marxist-Leninist-Packardian one party state
Leader: Queen-Chairwoman of the Revolution and head of the Packardian Communist Party Politburo Wilhelmina Packard (Packardian Communist Party)
Ideology:Marxist-Leninist-Packardian Communism

Territory Controlled: The Regions of London and the East of England
Economy: Since the collapse of the world economy, the DPRE has turned inwards as an isolationist form, having the Politburo and People's Parliament of Packard issue governmental decrees to seize private businesses, nationalizing several industries such as the oil rigs.
Resources Controlled: Fish,Chalk, Petroleum,Coal
Population: 14,020,906
Race(s)/Ethnic Group(s): White British, Asian, Black
Official Language(s): English

Total Military Size (Active + Reserve): 60,000 active duty soldiers along with 40,000 soldiers in the reserve for a total of 100,000 soldiers.
Description of Military (Equipment, Doctrine, Capabilities, Structure etc.):
The Packardian Communist Armed Forces is comprised of several cold war era military vehicles, mostly Challenger I series tanks and Scorpion reconnaissance vehicles to make up the brunt of the armored forces. The reserve soldiers are kept along the inside of the capital area, with the active duty troops being stationed in garrisons along the boarder of the DPRE. Every month, a total of 5 active duty regiments head back for the reserve front to be replaced with five reserve regiments supplementing the lost troop movements on the front. This is to ensure peak combat readiness.
It's military equipment is comprised of 50 Challenger I Main Battle Tanks , 7 Saxon armored personnel carriers 120 FV101 Scorpion reconnaissance vehicles and 100 FV107 Scimitar reconnaissance vehicles to complement the armored regiments of the PCAF.

The Packardian Communist Army is organized into divisions of 20,000 soldiers for a total of 3 active and 2 reserve divisions. Each of these divisions is divided into ten regiments of 2,000 soldiers for an overall total of 50 regiments. These ten regiments are further divided down into a thousand total companies of 100 soldiers for the number of combined active and reserve personnel in the army.

The smallest branch is the Packardian Communist Navy. The total number of ships are a single destroyer named the Packard, eight light gunboats and thirty patrol boats that navigate the Thames river and the surrounding English waters of the nation. The organization of the fleets are in the London Fleet of the destroyer, 5 gunboats and 20 patrol boats, the other fleet is the Channel fleet, which is comprised of 3 light gunboats and 10 patrol boats. Their objectives are mostly to patrol the coast of the nation, prevent drug trafficking and keep an eye out for possible naval invasions by sea. The PCN is seen as not exactly capable of handling many water bound threats, such as pirates in the English Channel.

The Packardian Communist Air Force is hardly a successor to the Royal Air Force. Riddled with corruption , dilapidated and rotting aircraft on cracked and pothole ridden airstrips, with few opportunities for pilots to get their wings. A total of 22 Westland Lynx helicopters, 40 Tornado ADV Interceptors and 38 Specat Jaguar attack aircraft are all the planes that are stationed throughout a total of 20 airstrips with a squadron of 5 mismatched planes on each.

Brief History (Since Collapse, Formation etc.): The Greater London Area saw severe unrest with the 2001 economic implosion of the G20's major economies. Several MPs and royal army commanders that severely opposed the 1998 Devolution Act saw their moment to act, and with the support of several left leaning political movements, stormed London and declared the Democratic People's Republic of England. The blame was stuck on several seemingly corrupt MPs ,who were ousted from office along with a large number of the government officials. A new government system was established that espoused nationalist attitudes and rapidly nationalized several private businesses into a socialist type restructuring of government. All other political parties were banned except the Packardian Communist Party as Wilhelmina Packard seized the reigns of power. In 2003, the Democratic People's Republic of England was declared by Wilhelmina Packard.

Internal Issues (At least two): The allure of the nationalist revolution has lead to two major camps of military movement springing up both in the active units and reserve units. One is that the nation must expand, which may lead to rouge military units with even more nationalist ideas than the nationalist communist government. The other is the necessity for national defense to assist and defend the nation from foreign forces.

Brief History (Since Collapse, Formation etc.): With the collapse of the Chinese Central Government the region was left in chaos, Some fled to Korea, a bastion of safety and stability. Meanwhile the Cantonese People would persevere. Out of Hong Kong, on the backs of the Hong Kong National Army, Guangdong province would submit and join the new state. In 2002 Troops would invade Hainan and Guangxi, with a need for more farmland and resources Yunnan would be conquered in 2004, bringing a strong mining industry to the country. Following this the New Cantonese State would invade several coastal spots to maintain a dominant control over the resource rich South China Sea, starting with valuable farming provinces in the Mekong river delta in Vietnam, followed by invasions of Singapore, Brunei, and Palawan Island. In 2011 the Spratly islands would be fully annexed. The Cantonese would be Organized in a Meritocratic style government with heavy influence from how the Chinese Communist Party was run.

In 2012 Chu Hunhua took office, and transitioned from a period of conquering to a period of growth. He repaired roads and put people to work, he brought power and water back to country using the old chinese piplines and building new ones to bring resources from inland to the coast. He also made sure that the countries primary farmland (Guangxi, Hainan, and Mekong River Delta) was sacure and developed, building a new set of paved roads in the region. Chu Hunhua also made sure that the main shipping lanes in the region would be usuable again and modernized the port of Singapore as well as the port of Vung Tau to help redirect shipping traffic into the region. He also made sure the lanes would be secure and that piracy would not be a serious threat to that particular area, he placed a lot of patrol ships in Singapore, Brunei, and Hong Kong to make sure they could secure those areas. He also put funding into the Hong Kong film industry in an attempt to reboot the entertainment industry. Chu Hunhua would also modernize a lot of the schooling in the cities. In 2018 Chu Hunhua would begin a project to modernize education in the Rural Regions and also pathed the path for development Inn Vietnam and Singapore, as Financial Institutions began to move to Singapore and the Housing and Proptery market finally stabilized. Demand for service and office workers has increased helping end unemployment and giving the educated citizens a chance to follow their dreams from childhood. Chu Hunhua would leave office in November of 2019, and be placed as the Vice President where he will help ease the power change to his wise and powerful heir, Ma Xingrui. Since starting his term Xingrui has consolidated power and continued the programs of his predecessor.

Hmmmm. It shows promise but I'm a little worried about controlling such a vast area when you already have such a large population. Would you mind having HK and Guangdong as your core territory, whilst all the Vietnamese, Filipino and Singaporean areas you've claimed being disputed or on your hit list in future? Gives you some IC potential to force them to submit. The military is also a little large for a place that got absolutely hammered by the collapse. A lot more of it would be very decrepit and abandoned due to ill maintenance and the like etc. In this world, a larger population generally means it was much harder to stick together due to economic woes. A bigger nation would be at many disadvantages in that regard.

Full Name of Country: State of Georgia.

Capital: Atlanta.

Type of Government: American Styled Republic.

Leader: Governor Jason Carter (elected 2016).

Ideology: American Preservationism (current ideology) in practice.
*Seeks to maintain the status quo, and avoid discussing secession from the United States even if in practice it no longer formally exists in any recognizable shape or form.

Territory Controlled:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_(U.S._state)

Economy: Emergency Command Economy with some room for capitalism.

Resources Controlled:

Agricultural products include soybeans, corn, peanuts, pecans, blueberries, poultry, eggs, peaches, cotton, rye, cattle, dairy products, hogs, timber, tobacco, and a variety of sustenance vegetables. Mineral trade in clay, sands, stones, and gold mining are resurging as well as the textile industry. With the collapse of the computer revolution heavy industry involving paper, apparel, paper products, food processing, electrical equipment, and other supportive state industries are rising up again. Ports in Savannah, Brunswick, Bainbridge, and Columbus bring in eastern, and gulf exports as well as an increasing amount of global goods. With cars in strict use the six interstates as well as 20,000 miles of "federal", and state highways serve as important logistics thoroughfare.

Rail lines experience the heaviest use, and the Atlanta-Metro airport is potentially on the up and coming within the next two decades. Natural gas and coal provide much of the electrical grid's power, but alternative energy sources have gobbled up a huge corner of it given no one has seen large shipments of foreign oil in years. The film industry though mostly handled by the state was preserved through the efforts of several people, and has started producing ten films a year often focusing on historical, and fictional dramas. A far cry from the hundreds yearly of the past, but better than the two big propaganda pieces expected of them years ago.

Population: In 2000 the population was 8.227 million, but the collapse sent the population down to 2.50 million before finally stabilizing.

Race(s)/Ethnic Group(s):

Official Language(s): English.

Total Military Size (Active + Reserve):
Georgia Army National Guard: 11,000

Georgia Air National Guard: 3,000
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_A ... onal_Guard

Reservists: 4,000

Georgia Civilians Militia: 25,000 registered members.

Description of Military (Equipment, Doctrine, Capabilities, Structure etc.):

Georgia's military is based off the state's national guard, but due to some tough times is supplied by a volunteer citizen militia. With military equipment not so easy to come by any pre-collapse tech is carefully used since making replacements is either an annoyance or ridiculously expensive. The Draft is allowed, but only in times of extreme crisis following in accordance with the U.S constitution not that it means much anymore. All that said some of the old military companies specializing in tech, and "private contractors" are still around albeit in small capacity so Georgia doesn't lag completely behind with its tech.

Brief History (Since Collapse, Formation etc.):

Georgia was one of the last to be given the honor of the original 13 colonies, but it has stuck through thick, and thin even with that little hiccup with the Confederacy in the 1860s. The State of Georgia is by no means some new entity at all, but a very old one though not as powerful or populous as it once was with only a fraction of the people it once had. When the great Asian flash happened most people went about their day till the 6:30 news telling them of troubles in Asia. What measures were taken were taken too far late to be of any effective use in the long run. Some places at least for a few months were better off than others, but they too collapsed into the merciless economic ocean.

The first great challenge after the economic dust settled, and the old system collapsed was disease. It spread much slower due to the collapse of mass transit but hit its peak as people began great migrations across the country, and the world looking for new opportunities to work. The "Alaskan fever" entered Georgia within seven months, and wiped out three million citizens in two years. The CDC was practically helpless, and to the horror of many, the government simply ordered the military to quarantine massive infected zones off to let them die. When people didn't die fast enough entire districts were often firebombed or people were gassed and tossed into crematoriums as parks became mass graves.

Sometimes after a two year period, and fifty million dead across the states, and who knows how many across the globe the disease simply vanished. The Georgia Emergency Measures Committee seized control of what was left of the state's economy and restructured it as a command economy. Some accuse it of being suffocatingly tight, but it prevented another million from dying of famine and kept people paid on time as well as fed. The casino cruises ships often famous for running barely legal gambling off the coast were allowed to dock, and sink old U.S dollars were virtually worthless a radical move was made for casino chips to be implemented as currency. After a slight modification to prevent counterfeiting the state allowed the casinos to issue chips with special tags to signify for use as currency.

Savannah during the epidemic of the fever by its economy centering around gambling became a mecca of sorts. The GEMC is also partly responsible for the incredibly strict immigration control procedures. Some complained as it was inhumane to imprison fellow American citizens, but most simply didn't care. This was made poignantly clear that unrestricted immigrants could bring back disease, and famine which both killed millions of Georgians and this was enough to silence the majority of criticism. Georgia's neighbors, on the other hand, weren't as long in Alabama, and Florida with one having six different governors contesting legitimacy, and the other practically turned into a narco-state.

No one is exactly sure how the Alabama situation started, but in one of their elections there was no clear winner, and without a governor, the government fell into deadlock. Eventually, people got tired and just started propping up candidates as government, and within three months you now have six different gubernatorial administrations in Alabama operating on barely passable legitimacy. Florida's government had no such quandary, but what it did have was a massive boost in Cuban's fleeing from a collapsing regime. The Cuban mafia existed well before the collapse, but some of the exiles transformed it into a revitalized, and massive organization of families due in part to people desperate for jobs. Now the Cuban cartels use the state as a highway into the upper southeast, and the rest of the east coast to supply their trades from drugs, prostitution, and the all-time favorite being murder.

Due to an unofficial accord, they were good not to try any of that here, but something changed with the murder of a reporter. The new American Bureau of Investigation out of Minnesota is pressuring the state as best they can, but it doesn't seem to be working especially in regards to solving the glaring police corruption issue. Trade deals with the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Kentucky are on the up, and coming in the legislature, but the biggest question of the year is secession. The state has for years operated under the assumption of the "silent union" theory in which it was business as normal even as evidence mounted up that nothing was conclusively coming out from the chain of command or even the Clinton administration. With a majority of people polled believe the union to be dead a referendum on whether to formally secede or not is to be held soon.

Pro-Unionists groups have gotten notice due to just how violent they have become especially in regards to the lynching of a celebrity. A lot of people recognize the irony of the unionists lynching a black man this time around especially one who was responsible for preserving Georgia's film industry. Without him, it would be dead, but suffice it to say this has riled up a lot of people to protest especially in the Atlanta, but the more troubling matter is the connection this group had to extremists out in Indiana. People need to realize nothing has been issue from NORAD or Raven Rock, and most likely the president or anything left of the government died long ago.

What could possibly be the consequences for seceding from a union that abandoned its people so long ago?

Internal Issues (At least two):

1) Secession Referendum: The question of Secession has always been tricky in the United States, but what if in theory the United States government and chain of succession didn't exist? There are rumors of a military rump somewhere out in Cheyenne staying connected with other strongholds of last resort such as Raven Rock, but they are only rumors. Georgia's government stay's loyal, and true to the union in theory only as its people grow discontent, and want an end to the charade. The last polls put it at 52% of citizens who want to officially secede from the union. Many of their complaints are right as the governor's office, and perhaps one of the more stable governments in the southeast hasn't heard a word from the so-called government in two decades.

Secession at this point is a formality since in practice Georgia through thick, and thin has been independent for a long time now.

2) The Miami crime cartels: With the collapse the Castro government in Cuba already suffering from lack of Soviet aid years earlier reportedly imploded, but regardless people flooded the cities in southern Florida. Which suggests as bad as things are in the former U.S they are much worse in the Caribbean. People will do anything to survive, and that includes joining criminal organizations to make it by. What the cartels lack in the money they used to be flush in pre-collapse they make up for in power, influence, and intimidation. It is said not a man in southern Florida doesn't owe some kind of debt to the cartels out of Miami.

Over the decades the families have slowly crept up their influence throughout central Florida and even made it to Georgia within the last few years. While gang-related violence isn't as much of a problem especially since some bigwig exile from back in the day who was hiding in federal witness protection back in southern California decided to seize power it could be a problem. There is an unofficial accord between Georgia, and the cartels to look the other way, but that was violated this year when a man was shot dead in the streets of Macon. This man was an investigative journalist from one of the few functioning CNN branches left across the country out in Florida, and reportedly had a list of all the juicy secrets of the family in his possession. Were it in another state Georgian authorities wouldn't care a bit especially about Floridian trash, but murder in the state is another matter entirely.

The accord has been broken, and now the American Bureau of Investigations (formerly the FBI) out in Minnesota is pressuring our state to cauterize the cartels here while there is still a chance to stop them. The problem being is that the cartels have been getting precious medical supplies to us in exchange for favors, and we can't just give that kind of deal up.

3) The Thin Blue Line: It's no secret the south has had its share of the police corruption, but the good old boy system takes it to a whole new level. People in the big cities complain constantly about harassment by rural sheriffs extorting them for money to ensure "safe passage". The farmers delivering the crops to designated stations in the cities also accuse urban cops of being just as bad. At the most, those involved in this corruption often invest the money back in the communities, and as intolerable as it is there is nothing to be done. On the other hand, the corruption for the sake of pure greed has to be stamped out as a recent investigation by a police association reveals many are taking the money to invest in criminal opportunities outside the state to keep their families quite well off.

Some may have joined the schemes to keep their families fed, and bills paid, but many go beyond that, and as the saying goes the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

4) Terrorists or Freedom Fighters?: The secessionist cause was bolstered lately by the murder of a notable pro-secession celebrity by a pro-union militia. They cornered the man and strung him up off the interstate to Atlanta, and this will not stand. The police in Macon raided their compound and found some rather interesting information linking them to the American Legion out in Indiana. The American Bureau of Investigations claims the links are merely training operatives for their goal of pan-state unification, but what if there is something more? The secessionist crowd has been incredibly peaceful, but attacks by pro-unionists mount only to further discredit their cause.

The legislature is demanding action, but is this really just a local issue or is it connected greatly to Legion activities?

5) Immigration: Immigrants both legal and illegal are becoming a bit of a problem in Georgia these days. From the south, they come from Florida, and the west they come from Alabama or further along the Gulf. To the north the Carolinas just let waves of them pass to get them out of their hair, but there are too many to handle. The military is working overtime detaining the illegal ones, and it has gotten worse to the point where communities along the borders on all sides have lynched people. Lynching isn't acceptable, but Georgia isn't a paradise for these people to just come to as they please.

The old American dream is dead, and the state must think of its own citizens first. We were recently approached by a high ranking cartel member who offered to take as many as they could off our hands. The implications of what they do with them are incredibly unpleasant, but we could stand better off if the pool of them wasn't as large as it is now. On the other side, this would undoubtedly sour relationships with contacts in the American Bureau of Investigations since they disapprove of conveniently losing so many people in such a manner. Funny how they seem to ignore the fact slavery is unfortunately legal in many parts of the states where warlords rule with an iron fist.

6) A New Plague on the Horizon: A group of explorers uncovered a thawing corpse in Alaska some days before the collapse. As the world began to collapse one by one the expedition members in their lab in Oregon fell ill and died one by one. People fleeing the riots in Portland carried the disease with them and wiped out road stop attractions, and little towns they resupplied in. Within three months it reached the Mississippi River, and by seven months the first case was reported in Georgia. In two years it killed fifty million people in the states, and who knows how many globally.

Georgia lost three million people to the disease because of how contagious it was. Yet just as fast as it appeared the virus just suddenly one day vanished with its last infected dying in their beds. The cleanup took years, but now some disturbing news from the CDC has set us in alarm. While the CDC is much more anemic, and withered than it used to be it still functions, and one of their offices in New York just reported a case with symptoms eerily similar to Alaskan fever. Speculation says a few months before it reaches Georgia, but with only two million people how many of us will there even be left?

7) Chaotic Neighbors: Warlords have carved out nice little fiefdoms all over the world, and the states are no exception. On the other side of the aisle are states that are trying to appear legitimate, but have way too many contenders. A good example would be the fact as of late Alabama reportedly has six different governments vying to claim the mantle of being Alabama. Florida while having a legitimate government is a de-facto narco state since the cartels made their power very well known by setting fire to the old state capital when the government was in the middle of a crisis legislative session. The Carolinas are much better off, but in the end, all of these neighbors reflect negatively on Georgia.

Solving the Alabama governorship issue would be nice, but only the most radical of Warhawks suggest radical deployment on an Alabama peacekeeping mission. A unity government would ensure the end to unrestrained mass migration and prevent us from having to deal with the cartels on that matter. There are the more radical ones who suggest Georgia should just do as we please, and annex neighboring counties since Alabamians are too divided to fight back. That wouldn't fly so well with our trading partners in Tennessee, and Kentucky however.

i have some ideas for asian disasters

-Godzilla caused by fukushima power plant meltdown, now terrorizing japan and possibly korea
-Mount fuji explodes causing a large influx of japanese refugees
-MegaTyphoon kai-Tak desolated the philliphines and heading towards SE asia
-Indonesian earthquake of 4,5 richter scale causing tsunamis throughout SE asia and India
-chloera outbreak in southern india
-The maldives sinking

and many more comming soon
People always stereotyped Asians as smart and strict people. while i, an asian have an average intelligence and Lazy. So in southeast and south asian countries we call asians, Chinese

IC post up!

I've said in my application that there are reasons why Scandinavia simply can't stop fighting a permanent low-intensity war with every single one of its neighbours. This first IC post should give you all an idea of why.

The fact that provincial governments have the power to declare war on foreign powers and that the Nordic Council does not have the authority to agree to a peace on behalf of its provinces certainly isn't the only reason why Scandinavia is in a state of permanent war, but it's one of the bigger reasons.

I would be willing to give up all foreign territories except the Vietnamese Territory and Spratly Islands (Since they are both vital resource extraction points and have heavy Chinese influence). The military on the other hand is large because a lot of Chinese military equipment was left unused by the government so the new one simply claimed the supplies. They also called all nearby ships and army groups to join the new country since it is essentially a successor state. The country has a large population and large ambitions and thus requires a large military. Note that the successor state formed only a couple months after, once the Chinese Communist Party remnants could repeace themselves together and organize Hong Kong into a genuinely working city.

Suffice it to say most Georgian's understandably despise the union because of the fact it abandoned them, and others to a fate worse than death. The next post will cover the sudden appearance of an all too familiar disease by a CDC branch out north, and focus on the expansion of the American Bureau of Investigations in Georgia. At most, while the ABI could be considered a successor to the FBI it really is the eastern US version of Interpol.

Indeed. I know it sounds I'm being a bit finicky but it's just that I don't want larger, more dominant nations dictating the flow of the RP. We've already got a decent range with some small nations, mid-sized nations and then larger ones (by population or territory) in the likes of Korea, USSR, Nordics etc. but I feel such a large population and military would totally put any kind of resistance of smaller nations out of reach, both militarily and economically, in its current state.

I know Asia has a much larger population density, but I'd much prefer if the population was heavily grappling with poverty and unemployment, which has meant poor living standards for many as imported resources are scarce. As such, the population would still be large but the country would be "weakened" to a level more in reach of a smaller (but still decently-sized nation) due to the economic state. Military-wise as well, I know the issue of China's massive stockpiles means there's tons of equipment knocking about, but it would be more realistic for a lot of it to be inactive or in a state of disrepair due to economic neglect, lack of supplies and budget shortfalls. This gives you some room to repair or rebuild them as your economy improves or sell it off for the cash boost.
