Our History

April Tech Gaming and Electronics (stylized as AprilTech) was founded on 10th April of 1984 as a 'hobby group' for a duo of shy nerds; Sam Ball and Rick Thompson. However, their business gained national recognition after the release of the game Pixeled Snake in 1988 - a simple game which consisted of a snake eating fruits spawning on the screen without touching itself or the walls. The game is completed when the snake grow excessively, occupying the entire screen. After the annual releasing of boxing and archery games since 1989 and the big success of Sci-Fi FPS for PC-DOS Ruke Lukem in 1995, in 1998 April Tech enriched to the point of announcing its first console - the Playbox. The project never became reality until 2007, when an another Coldfielidan company named Zony - which bought half of April Tech back in the year of 2003 - decided to collaborate and develop all the necessary hardware and software required to build the console. In 2009 the Playbox was announced and released to the ordinary public in Fall 2010. The console was a success in Coldfield - it worked both as a Blu-ray, CD, and DVD player and home console. On 4th January 2018 AprilTech's newest console - PLAYBOX '18 - was released. The console uses an AT17 eight-core 3.5 GHz CPU, 16 RAM DDR4, and an AT15 HDD with a minimum storage of 500 (upgradable up to 2 TB) with a speed of 2GB/s. It also offers 4K support and retro-compatibility with the Playbox Classic.

The safety car returned, with the mechanics related to it revised, while the Virtual Safety Car was introduced, as well as manual starts, manual pit lane entry, and the formation lap. The game has updated AI which made the AI more prone to making mistakes or crashing. The game also has voice recognition software allowing players to talk to their race engineers during the race and ask for race information, weather updates, and tyre status, and can request a change of tyres or wing.

The Free Kingdom Ministry of War, guided by the various Coldfield Assistance Acts, has decided to prioritize Coldfield’s electronics industry for the production of items necessary for the improvement of the life quality of Armed Forces personnel on military bases throughout the Free Kingdom. Beyond this, the electronic equipment proposed here is reasonably cheap, and we would like to purchase a large quantity of it.

For this purpose we would like to purchase 10,000 Playbox 18 systems and 10,000 AT4K television sets, for use in on-base recreational facilities and aboard warships throughout the Free Kingdom. We would like to have the first batch of 100 systems arrive early, for testing and information security evaluation by the Ministry’s Department of Procurement.

This will of course cost us approximately $106.1 million.

Beyond this, the Ministry of War is interested in procuring, for an additional sum of $1 million, a supply of spare parts, peripherals, etc. for the game systems, and, for a sum of $20 million, to train a group of 20,000 technicians to become licensed maintenance personnel to resolve common malfunctions with the TVs and systems without voiding the manufacturer warranty.
