A Welcome from the OP

Hello and welcome to Naruto: Age of Shinobi! This is a obviously a Naruto Role Play but perhaps is a little different than the ones you may be used to. As we will be taking some creative freedoms with the source material to create a world uniquely our own to write in but still obviously recognizable as the world of Naruto. First off, the largest difference is that there will be no central or supporting characters from the main series. That means that there is no Naruto, Sasuke or Sakura. Or no Jiraiya, Tsunade or Gaara either. Removing these characters will provide room for our characters to become the 'main characters'. But your can still have your ninja go and have a night out at Ichiraku Ramen and be served by Teuchi and Ayame. As they are minor enough to not have a major impact on the story. Also, this does not mean that clans have been removed as well, just specific characters. Actually, in our world the Uchiha Clan has never been wiped out so we could have multiple Uchiha characters, however specific characters like Itachi and Sasuke are not a thing. You may also create your own clans if being a Hyuga, Uchiha or Abarame is not your thing. Lastly, you do not need to be a expert in Naruto to enjoy writing with us. As we will be deviating from that established story anyways and any details you do need to know such as the nature of Chakra and Ninja Villages ect will be explained as needed by the OP and CO-OP. Also, Links to helpful pages in Narutopedia will be included as well. My final words before we get to the good stuff is thank you for your interest and that we are going to have a great time here.

The Story So Far

A delicate peace hangs over the Ninja World. As the Five Great Shinobi Nations consolidate their place in the world they search for the missing Jinchuriki who have scattered themselves across the lands. In the Village of Konohagakure, also known as the Village hidden in the Leaves, years of peace may erupt into violence. As tensions between the Uchiha Clan and the rest of the Village boil beneath the surface. There are whispers of a coup, one that could cause Civil War. And all of this on the coming of this years Chunin Exams. This is the world in which you enter. A shinobi of one of the Great Ninja Nations. Perhaps your are a Jonin, training the next generation of Genin and acting as the vanguard for your village. Or maybe you are a Genin, fresh with raw talent and power and aspirations for what you desire to o with it. This is your story, all of you are the main characters. It will be your choices and actions, that shape history in this coming Age of Shinobi.

Kekkei Genkai: Denjigan - Electromagnetic Eyes: An ability derived from Akira's impressive use of Lightning Release, this technique allows the user to alter the visible light spectrum and see objects in infrared or ultraviolet. It's greatest application is the thermal vision granted by infrared, allowing for impressive sight even during nighttime. That is the base ability, though, and refining this visionary aid can allow the user to mimic the Byakugan, and see the electromagnetic impulses (which roughly - but not exactly) correspond to the chakra pathways of a human being, allowing the Denjigan to act as impressive, yet rare sensory aid.

Strengths:

• Lightning Release: One of the greatest born in recent memory and hailed the "once-in-a-generation" user of the release, Akira knows an encyclopedia's worth of knowledge on Lightning-based techniques, their uses, and how to preform them accurately. Most of this stems from intelligence and ability to create jutsu, but it still requires a tremendous amount of knowledge and chakra to correctly utilize.
• Taijutsu/Nintaijutsu: Akira's style of fighting is very up close and personal, where he can produce incredible amounts of power with his Lightning Release, making taijutsu his greatest skill especially when combined with his Lightning ninjutsu - even learning the Art of Lightning and using it to further develop personal jutsus such as Lightning Dragon Style and Lightning Chakra Mode.
• Kenjutsu: An avid swordsman, Akira is known to utilize ninjato to great and devastating effect. Though he is technically gifted, his art mostly revolves around using the sword to extend Akira's reach rather than to master the sword, going so far as to combine his Lightning affinity with his swordsmanship with Lightning Sword Flash. It can be said that his abilities with kenjutsu are only an extension of his taijutsu.
• Intellect: Cunning and rather blunt, Akira is a skilled tactician and strategist on the battlefield, and a well-read and rehearsed ninja when outside of it despite his younger age. He was viewed as a prodigy growing up, and that still rings true to this day with his mastery over Raiton while being in his early twenties. He maintains his book smarts by studying just as much as he trains, much of his reading list being related to ninjutsu and developing tactics.

Weaknesses:

• Natural insulators will reduce the effectiveness of Akira's Lightning Release techniques.
• He has no defenses to genjutsu, so that's a blaring weakness. Powerful enough genjutsu can even overpower his Denjigan.
• Lack of Diversity: Simply put, Akira maintains high-end usage of Raiton and taijutsu and is dedicated to those fields, he simply cannot use other nature releases effectively or at all. He is specialized for one style and attempts to overcome this weakness by forming jutsu that can overcome Raiton's weakness against Wind Release, mainly by increasing the vibration frequency of his attacks.
• Many of his higher-end jutsu's consume incredible amounts of chakra, making their appearance rare and deadly if used, a prime example being one of his ultimate techniques, Sky of Falling Thunder.

Bio: Hailing from the Land of Lightning, Akira is the prodigy and fateful son of the Kaminari Clan, gifted with their impressive control of Lightning Release and their techniques, he's also armed with immense chakra reserves even as a youth. Rather than be put through an Academy-style training, Akira was trained under special tutors and masters within the Kaminari Clan Compound, which had the effect of distancing him from being aligned with his nation and instead taught him to be loyal only to the Clan. Skipping over training under a proper Jonin as all Genin must do, Akira was allowed to participate in Kumogakure's Chunin Exams with a special exemption owing to his clan, and so that the ninja village could see just how far along the Kaminari prodigy had come.

Akira absolutely devastated the exams, displayed powers that even Chunin were not capable of preforming, and was able to give pause to the jonin observing the matches, tests, and various tasks to undermine the efforts of the genin. At the final matches, he was a sure-win and highly betted on, and defeated his opponent with his signature Lightning Sword Flash jutsu. Chunin at age ten, and jonin just three years later, Akira was sent on increasingly higher classed missions, each with darker tones and served to develop the youth into quite the feared killing machine against the enemies of Kumogakure. He was soft spoken, hardly speaking during his years of service, and simply carried on as usual.

Things changed in Akira's heart, though, when he saw his clan putting his own sister through the same brutal training regime he had gone through as a youth. He reflected on his past, and saw the soft, caring heart of Akiko as she grew up, and knew that it would not be right to taint such a warm soul with bloodshed. When Akiko was eight and Akira sixteen, and after a harsh training session that physically broke Akiko and drove her to tears, he took his sister and fled their clan's compound, fleeing to Konohagakure in order to protect the most important thing in his life. In effect, he became a missing-nin, and was the source of several ill-fated assassination attempts.

Through the years, he never fully settled into life in Konoha. Rather than draw the ire of the village from his status as a wanted man, he became more of a nomad throughout the Land of Fire, utilizing his impressive skill set to systematically hunt down rogue ninja and outside elements in order to collect bounties. He made quite the name for himself in this regard, and his skills as a ninja were well-known to any trespasser or gang of bandits within the nation at the mention of his name or his title, The Thunder Dragon. Most of his money would be sent to Akiko, in order to provide a house, food, and other necessities for his sister, and a system came into effect that allowed the S-Class criminal to exist within the countryside while his sister attended school in the Hidden Village.

Strengths:

• Water Release: Extremely gifted at the element, Akiko is able to use her large chakra reserves to bring forth impressive amount of water, and is even able to momentarily transform herself and objects into water, utilizing the Liquid God Self technique to turn herself into liquid as a defensive measure, and the Liquid Swords technique to turn her blades into powerful, razor-thin water jets. She is a very advanced genin, to say the least.
• Taijutsu: Nimble, fast, and able to put out more power than her frame would suggest, Akiko arms herself with her own body and forms her chakra nature jutsu around that. Powerful physical attacks aided by water jets make up the Water Dragon Kick, which has derivatives that include Punch and Headbutt, which is how she is able to get more results out of her fighting ability.

Weaknesses:

• Earth Release: Earth is the hard counter to Water, meaning in a head to head encounter, most Earth-based jutsus will stop her water discharge and waves.
• No Moisture: Akiko can generate water, but it is a chakra-consuming ability, and will mostly utilize existing sources if at all possible. Entirely arid places like a desert would quickly wear down her abilities.

Bio: Growing up, strength and ability was everything, and above everything else, was the Clan. To Akiko, this was hammered in daily, and growing up in the shadow of her gifted brother, Akiko was expected to preform at his level if not greater, when she struggled to grasp basic ninjutsu. Her training was harsh, brutal, and without end until she got her lesson correct, and flawless at that. It moved her to despise her older brother, who was said to do such jutsu with ease, and she further hated him for not helping her.

That is, until the night he stole her away. It was another night that she wished she was dead, or at least not a member of the Kaminari Clan, and her training session all day and most of the night mentally and physically destroyed her. She was scooped up, unable to resist or shout out, and Akira carried her all the way from their compound and into the wilderness, avoiding the main roads to ensure they were not spotted. Eventually, she awoke rested and well, and sat face to face with her older brother for the first time in weeks. She looked at him with disdain, but his eyes remained glued to hers. Slowly, he explained what was happening, that she was being kidnapped, and that he was abandoning the village and the clan.

She was confused, Akira was a stellar ninja and a highly respected member of the clan, it made no sense for him to up and leave. She thought it was a trick, another attempt to make her into the ninja the clan wanted her to be, but Akira was firm. Scary, even, in that they are no longer Kaminari or Kumo-nin, and sadly reflected that he will be hunted for the rest of his life. She asked him why, and he told her, plain and simple, it was all for her. She was motionless for some time, enough that Akira began carrying her again, and eventually the two reached the border of the Land of Fire. From then on, Akiko was trusted in the care of the Hidden Leaf Village, while Akira remained elsewhere. Frequently, Akiko would receive large sums of money from an unknown source, which she assumed was her brother.

Before they parted, Akira told Akiko that she could be whatever she wanted, she didn't have to be a ninja anymore. She thought on his words for weeks, but found herself in the Academy, intent on becoming a ninja, within a few months time. She wanted to make her own choices in life, and the first step in that direction was becoming the ninja her own way, not one that her clan wants, or whatever Akira wanted her to be. She vowed to become strong, strong enough to never need Akira's protection again.

The powerful ninjas that filled the world with power she wished she could have. However, what she lacked in brawn was made up scores over with brain. Putting that brain to good in gather DNA samples from various ninja. Using them to create an amalgamation of incredible power that she could use to prove her superiority. And so far it was working. After years of work, she created a powerful mutant monstrosity that would serve her. At first everything seemed well. She gave his pet monster, dubbed Oni a basic education. Things quickly went down hill when neither of them understood how his abilities worked. This infuriated Amari to no end. How was she supposed to show off how great she was when her creation was little more than a mere human?

Day after day of failure passed until Amari snapped and tried to kill her own creation. What little regard Oni felt for his abusive creator was swept aside as easily as her shattered body. All it took was a single strike with strength he drew on from instinct. It was an odd feeling, but not a bad one. He was created for the purpose of killing powerful people. He broke out of her lab and traveled to see if he could find anyone who could stimulate his existence.

Kimiko can use her kekkei genkai to merge into metal to hide both herself and her chakra signature. This can be used to avoid tracking or launch surprise attacks.

Kimiko can use her kekkei genkai to morph parts of her body into a strong metal alloy for defense or offensive purposes. However, applying this to her entire body is very taxing on her chakra reserves

Kimiko can absorb metals, iron in particular to both heal herself and replenish her chakra reserves. This can even be performed on humans as iron is naturally in their bodies.

Summons a large steel prison around the target, is used for capture.

Kimiko Leaps into the air and summons two scrolls which eject hundreds of deadly shuriken in all directions at blinding speeds. Making the technique hard to avoid or escape.

Kimiko's current most powerful jutsu. Uses a blood seal scroll to summon forth massive iron spears that rain from the sky and fall onto the battlefield. Consumes a large chakra cost.

Strengths:
*Is a advanced taijutsu specialist and a mastered weapons specialist. Prefers to battle from a medium to close range.
*Possesses excellent chakra control, abe to make the most out of her modest stores of chakra.
Weaknesses:
*Possesses a modest amount of chakra, cannot throw out too many high level jutsu in a single fight.
*Long range battles prevent her from making full use of her weaponry or most of her steel release techniques.
*Genjutsu-She has a great understanding of it but little skill in it.
Bio:
Kimiko was born into a Clan which used to be renowned for their Kekkei Genkai, or Steel Release abilities. The Clan was located near Iwagakure, but was not a part of the village. However, there were negotiations for the Clan to enter the village officially. If this had occurred, the power of Iwagakure would have been boosted tremendously. However, the negotiations did not go well, and it seemed as if the Sasaki Clan may have approached rival villages for offers. That is until one night the Tsuchikage himself led an attack on the Clan. Not willing to take the chance of their abilities being used against his village, he and the Shinobi from the Hidden Rock Village wiped the Clan from the face of the Earth. That is except for one single six year old girl.

Kimiko escaped, and had traveled the roads aimlessly until she found herself in the Land of Fire. There she lived the life of a street orphan forced to steal until she was discovered by a shinobi from Konohagakure. A man who had taken note of her special abilities and had approached her, offering her a home and a direction in life as well as friends and allies.

The nine year old exile graciously accepted and upon returning to the Hidden Leaf Village, she was immediately placed in the Ninja Academy. She excelled in her studies and graduated by 11 years old. And was promoted to Chunin by 13. It was at this time, she had taken a keen interest in shinobi weaponry. As she began to not only collect but train to master the various ninja tools. Within a year her skills with several types of weapons could give Jonin a challenge. During this time she had a very outgoing and friendly personality all around, as despite her skills she took her duties fairly lightly. This all changed however when her team was sent on mission to steal information from a rival village. She was successful, but the mission had cost all of her friends their lives. It was after this incident that she learned the hard truth of the Shinobi life style. And so from that point on she took her assignments with utmost determination and carried a very cold, detached and calculating persona into battle. Only to be contrasted by her normal friendly but mature demeanor off duty. She was promoted to Jonin at 16 and accepted into the ANBU Black Ops at 17.

As a member of the Black Ops for the last nine years, she has completed hundreds of missions for Konoha. Risking her life and becoming the weapon she was trained to be in order to defend what is precious to her. The safety of the village and the lives of her comrades. As she had learned many years ago, that sometimes in order to ensure the survival of that which you love, you must be willing to kill whatever threatens it, without hesitation or mercy. Now, leaving the service of the ANBU she prepares to take command of a squad of Genin to train. To ensure that they too become capable of handling the duties of a shinobi, while doing her best to safeguard their development and give them the training to hopefully be able to live long and successful careers as shinobi. So her story starts as she inherits command of Team 9.

Strengths: Hakaku excels at various techniques that allow him to fight from afar, and use his opponents strengths against them. He is proficient in Fire ninjutsu's, and has been teaching himself Lightning ninjutsu's off and on, but he prefers using Genjutsu to incapacitate his opponents and take them out while they are defenseless.
Weaknesses: Hakaku is much weaker against taijutsu, especially if his opponent is also using tactics that have to do with using his own skills against him. As soon as a fight is to up close and personal, his skills tend to fail him, and he is forced to either take a beating or retreat off balance and unprepared.
Bio: Hakaku was born in the Hidden Leaf, and raised predominantly by his mother, who worked a series of odd jobs to support them, predominantly as a waitress. It was a precarious childhood in terms of financial stability, with him and his mother always hovering at the edge of poverty, and their lives being in a state of feast or famine. While he was never hungry, most of his clothes were second hand, the houses and apartments they lived in were typically small and maintained, and the neighborhoods that they lived in were usually far from appealing. Hakaku from a young age learned a resilience due to the conditions of his childhood, though he always knew that his mother loved him, and so it was a happy childhood nonetheless. His father had been a Shinobi, but died when Hakaku was 2. However, he grew up with pictures of his father all around the house, and the stories that his mother would tell him about his father, leading him from a young age to develop a great respect for and desire to be a ninja.

He entered the Ninja Academy when he was 6, and was a successful, though rather mischievous student. As he grew older and learned new jutsu, he tended to use them more for pranks and to essentially troll his teachers and fellow students, rather than using them for practical purposes. Nonetheless, he was quite successful on his tests, and was popular with his peers for his jovial and friendly personality. He graduated when he was 10, and was assigned to Team 7, where he quickly emerged as a leader of his cell.

As he got older, he began to focus more and more on evasion tactics, and fighting styles that could be used at long range, to compensate for his relatively thin frame. However, despite his charming personality and quickly emerging skills as a talented ninja, his first two attempts at the Chunin exam were failures, as he was considered to cocky and tended to go off half cocked in fights. It wasn't until his third attempt that, after having matured from a series of morally and physically taxing missions over the past two year, in one of which a team member was severely injured and lost the use of their legs, that he finally passed. Though he was still fun loving and rather goofy, he had learned valuable tactical and leadership skills that allowed him to pass.

During his time as a Chunin, Hakaku began taking part in many strike missions against various bandits, gangs, and criminal groups. He was noted and earned many commendation for his tactical knowledge, as well as his use of Genjutsu to incapacitate his opponents and support his teams. During this time as well, he began practicing with the Johyo, or Rope Dart. It was hard to learn, and over time he developed many welt from accidentally hitting himself. It was a rather versatile weapon, with it being able to be used to keep his enemies at a distance, and quickly lashed out to tangle them, hit them, or otherwise thrown them off balance. Now he, and many others, consider him a master of the Rope Dart, and it has become his signature weapon.

He continued on as a Chunin, training in Genjutsu and the Rope Dart, and continuing with the missions, until he eventually began to grow board, and started petitioning to be given A Rank missions. However, his rank prevented him from receiving them, or if he did, it was only as a member of a team lead by a Jonin. When he turned 24 however, the Hokage began receiving more recommendations from his peers, and even from a few Jonin, that he was promoted to Jonin the next year. Now, having been Jonin for a while, and looking to continue advancing his career as a shinobi, but also to get a break to focus more on himself and his own training, he has volunteered to be the Sensai for Team 3

Strengths: A high level of strength, speed, regeneration and adaptable weapons make him extremely dangerous in a close quarter fight. Quickly closing gaps and getting within melee range.
Weaknesses: Staying out of his arm's reach is the best way to fight him. His very limited ranged ability makes him much easier to fight from a distance.
Bio: Less a person and more science experiment gone horribly wrong or right, depending on who you ask. If you'd asked him, he say that it went perfectly. If you asked Amari Katsuhitom, his creator, you'd get a much different story. Oni's creation was one of jealousy and vengeance. The powerful ninjas that filled the world with power she wished she could have. However, what she lacked in brawn was made up scores over with brain. Putting that brain to good in gather DNA samples from various ninja. Using them to create an amalgamation of incredible power that she could use to prove her superiority. And so far it was working. After years of work, she created a powerful mutant monstrosity that would serve her. At first everything seemed well. She gave his pet monster, dubbed Oni a basic education. Things quickly went down hill when neither of them understood how his abilities worked. This infuriated Amari to no end. How was she supposed to show off how great she was when her creation was little more than a mere human?

Day after day of failure passed until Amari snapped and tried to kill her own creation. What little regard Oni felt for his abusive creator was swept aside as easily as her shattered body. All it took was a single strike with strength he drew on from instinct. It was an odd feeling, but not a bad one. He was created for the purpose of killing powerful people. He broke out of her lab and traveled to see if he could find anyone who could stimulate his existence.
