YN's most famous street

Postby The Huterric Union » Fri Apr 06, 2018 8:32 am

What's to your nation as Champs Elysees is to France?

The most well known street in the Union is Burlamond Street in Lansadas. It's named after the town of Burlamond, in the state of Wyche, where the Battle of Burlamond occurred (which ended the civil war). Our government meets on the Octahedral campus adjacent to the street, and famous landmarks such as the Arcdia Mall, Huterrica Square World Trade Plaza, and Burlamondstrasse Park. At 35 miles (56km) it is the longest street in Lansadas

West Bridge Street, Lilygrad, is to a regular observer a perfectly run-of-the-mill ordinary residential street. It's famous, however, for being the site of the first meeting of the original Worker's Party, and is thus seen as the location where the revolution was born.

Most of our streets don't have names, which is one of the excuses our Post Office uses for slow service. (Another excuse is that a lot of time is taken up making excuses.)

One of our oldest named streets is Wong Street. It isn't certain which of many Wongs it was named after. The Wong Street Journal, one of our most prominent newspapers, used to be housed on Wong Street but it has long since moved to an industrial area. Likewise, the Banana Exchange, which was originally situated on Wong Street, has been moved to a strip mall. The lower end of Wong Street, nearest the harbour, was once a warehouse district but it is currently being demolished to make way for a commercial/residential development.

Fish With No Name Boulevard was named after the protagonist in three "instant classic" movies, A Fish Full of Dollars, Forty-two Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Duckling. It runs past the coconut grove where Parliament meets.

Parliament recently voted down a proposal to name half the streets in Fat City "Alphonse Street" and the other half "Fish Avenue". The "pro" side had argued that it would enable every business to advertise that it was located on the corner of Alphonse and Fish. The "con" side replied that it would probably not do anything to reduce confusion.

There is a prominent retailer named "Saks Fish Avenue" but the street it is located on doesn't actually have an official name.

East Phoenix Boulevard, in the west-central Mesa Urban District, is definitively known as the, "Boulevard of Lights," and the most popular single tourist attraction in Deseret and Zion. The Mesa Urban District is renown in the Holy Republic as not only the largest city in the country, but one with the most liberal alcohol and gambling policies. East Phoenix Boulevard is the heart of the gambling and entertainment district of Mesa, with four large casinos and three major hotels/resorts on the boulevard.

Regent's Place, Charlesbourg, St Alexandria.

Much like Downing Street in real life, it's an avenue dedicated to government buildings and residences, principally those of the Prince Regent, Prince Francis, Duke of Andrewsbourg, and his aides-de-camp. This is because St Alexandria is an absolute monarchy, not a constitutional one, though the Regent does choose to be apolitical. The buildings on it are famously white marble, and of neo-classical style architecture. The Regent gives many press releases, and meets with the Prime Minister there.

Estonland's most famous street is the Prinz Alexander Straße in Petersburg(OTL Nevsky Prospekt). A tram line dating back to 1920 operates in the center, while metro station entrances, countless shops, cafes and the Royal Post Office line the sides. Traditionally, it is covered in decorations for Christmas, when it attracts a huge number of visitors causing the normally busy street to be filled to the brim. Recent regulations have prohibited any new buildings being constructed for a 500 meter radius of the street.

Palace Drive in Largo Beach-- the center of government. On Palace drive is the Royal Palace, which houses the Senate and the King, as well as other high-level government officials. Because the Palace is far back from the road, regular traffic is permitted in the road. On one side of the palace is the Royal Hospital, on the other side is various government buildings. Along the rest of the road are restaurants, name-brand shops, and other attractions. Behind the palace is the actual beach, so it receives a lot of attention.

Palace Drive was intentionally designed so that on one side (the side of the Palace), there was beach, and there is Jungle on the other side. There are also sidewalks and bike lanes up and down Palace Drive, for pedestrians.

We have several;
Parliament Street, Vandenbrink City
Dubbed "Whitehall of the Islands", it's the location of the House of Parliament, various government agencies, and formerly the Law Courts building until 1983 when the new Law Courts building on Alberta Street was completed.
Edwards Street, Philipswijk City
Located in Philipswijk's CBD, location of the Van Hool Stock Exchange (VSX) and a large amount of financial institutions. Often compared to Wall Street in New York or Bay Street in Toronto.
Kimbara High Street, Kimbara, Vandenbrink
Location of the Prime Minister's official residence, Kimbara House.
Ij Street, Rosmalen, Philipswijk
Well known for being the heart of Philipswijk's entertainment districts, houses some of the most famous nightclubs, theatres, and pubs in the country. Dubbed the "Bourbon Street" of the Van Hool Islands.

The most famous street in Pacifica would arguably be State Expressway 132, better known as the Pearl Harbour Expressway. This toll highway stretches the span of the harbour, crossing it in a short 600m tunnel at its southernmost point, the narrow entrance. Colloquially, the highway is known as the expressway to heaven. This is due to four car-bombings which occurred in a span of a month as the nation committed itself to a conflict in 2016. These bombings all occurred on days of major naval movements from the harbour, in attempts to postpone the ships.

As such, the Pearl Harbour Expressway is pre-emptively closed in fear of terrorist attacks on days of naval movements, as well as on May 30, the nation’s national day.

Technically, due to spacetime anomalies affecting our road systems there is only one road. The road to hell, paved with good intentions. Also, please note that good intentions are terrible paving material. Use asphalt, or concrete, or really anything else.

Bistami Street, named after Sufi mystic Bayazid Bistami, is an upscale shopping, dining, and entertainment hub in Samarra. The area is a major tourist attraction, and considered to be one of the most expensive, elegant, and luxurious streets in Darussalam. Numerous renowned department stores, boutiques, coffeehouses, restaurants, and hotels are located in its vicinity. The Peacock Tower, a skyscraper under construction soon to house official residence of the Imperial Family, is adjacent to the Bistami Street.

the most likely candidate for most famous street in esmerel would be carter boulevard in downtown lapiz point, esmerel. it is the western terminus of nat. route 10, and has many historical buildings along it, and has access to almost every street in the downtown area.

A street that has become famous in recent years is Mekamís Raste (January Street) in the small town of Dayaram. The street became notable because of Tomek Sokal's bestselling book (later adapted into a movie), Breaking the Sound Barrier, a coming-of-age novel about his childhood.
