National information
Official Name: The Kehtic Republic of Sahar
Shortened Name: Sahar
Requested Location: Coius, East of Akalia
RP Population: 42,500,000
Culture: ‘Coptic/Egyptian’
Ethnicity: Predominantly Kehtic
Religion: Kehtic Christianity
Languages: ‘Modern Coptic Egyptian’
Government Type: Military Autocracy
Head of State: President Tepio Salib
Head of Government: President Tepio Salib
National Overview: The Military maintains all law and order, and as such the Generals have become the administrators of Sahar. Law enforcement, directed by Field Marshal Pishoy Botros is left mostly to the military with the law being often ignored to maintain stability and root out dissent. This does not mean officials are immune to the law, however, issues only tend to arise if officials commit an act that harms the stability of the country or subvert’s military directives.
History of Government:
After many years of an unforgiving monarchy and little care for the Kehtic people, the people amassed a revolution, overthrowing the Sultanate and establishing a military government. With no clear leader to govern the state, the rebel force elected a leader from their highest ranks to govern the country and make decisive changes. The country has been this way for almost 25 years and the current president, Tepio Salib, has recently assumed power.
Foreign relations:
Since the coup in 1992, there has been tensions between Sahar and its’ neighbors. But, the change in presidency and current Ijdi insurgency has given Sahar a new chance to improve relations with neighbouring countries and perhaps even reach a state of detente forming an alliance against the insurgents with Akalia.

Social views:
General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality is generally seen as inappropriate and blasphemous. Homosexuality is illegal in all forms, gay marriage is forbidden and expression of homosexual behavior is criminal. Laws regarding this are enforced by the military.
General population's view on religions other than the primary one: There is prejudice but both Salaam and Tideism are reluctantly accepted due to their prevalence in the country, however, other religions are seen as taboo. No laws respecting religious practice are strongly enforced and there is generally a freedom of religion.
General population's view on atheism: Creationism is taught in public schools and Atheism is seen as a taboo practice, the government opposes it’s spread but it is not illegal.
General population's view on abortion: Abortion is illegal.
View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The Ijdi and the Shuni are both seen as less civil than the Saharians. The Government bans the teaching of either language and has banned organizations attempting to rally for their rights. In the south bordering Akalia there is a minor insurgency led by the Ijdi.
Any big prejudices in your nation There is prejudice against Ijdi and Shuni culture.
View on immigration into country: Not strongly opposed but highly controlled from Bahian countries.
Women's Rights: Women have same rights as men but socially, men have power over women. There is no active movement working to alter this.
Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are allowed and regulated, other drugs are illegal but there is a booming drug trade which is seemingly ignored by the government.

National information

Official Name: The Democratic Island Republic of San Luca
Shortened Name: San Luca
Requested Location: Unfortunately the regional map isn't working for me, and I get an error message. I'm a small island nation. In the past, I have either been located on the equator, or in the sub-tropical zone. Either off the coast of South-American, or Latin-European style countries. Though Caribbean could also work nicely. EDIT: SETTLED ON DISCORD
RP Population: 16,115,729
Culture: San Luca is a former colonial country. The national language is Spanish, however Arawak (a native dialect) is also spoken. The nation is made up of mountainous rain forest, with a hilly green-belt in some regions, with most major cities on the coast.
  • Ethnicity: 61% Mestizo (Mixed), 21% White Latin, 10% Black Latin (Including Mulatto), 7% Arawak (Natives), 1% Other
  • Religion: There is no official religion, however a version of Catholicism is dominant, I say a version, because some folk saints are included such as Santa Muerte (a grim reaper-like character). Worship of ancient gods still occurs in some native communities.
  • Languages: Spanish is the official language. Arawak (the native dialect) is a recognized language.
Government Type: Military Junta
Head of State: General Lucas Enrique Barbero René
Head of Government: General Lucas Enrique Barbero René
National Overview: San Luca was ruled by a fascist military dictator for most of the 20th century. This dictatorship originally came into power after over-throwing a leftist political party which had been democratically elected. This dictatorship violently repressed anyone who spoke out against it, and was involved in drugs trafficking. They were overthrown in 1992 following a 10 year long civil war by a leftist revolutionary force, funded by sympathetic countries, and the drug cartel rivaling the dictatorship. The revolutionary leader took control of the armed forces, and became a benevolent, leftist dictator. After his death, his son, a military general took power, and resumed some political activity, allowing certain left-wing civilian candidates to govern along-side the military in a bizarre political experiment known as 'military socialism'. Having been repressed by right-wing military juntas for most of its existence, San Luca is used to life under military rule, however most despise the right-wing. Culturally, San Luca is known for its vibrant architecture, salsa and Latin jazz music, bull fighting, salsa dancing, and tropical spice-infused food.
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: It is not accepted by the elderly, however the young accept it, and it is legal.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Most people are indifferent toward religion.
  • General population's view on atheism: The population is becoming increasingly atheist.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion has been accepted longer than it has been in most countries, due to the natives practicing it since ancient times.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): For the majority, race follows social class. Some of the white population see themselves as superior, however not enough to cause any racial violence. The population is mostly mixed, so San Lucans are very open to people of other races.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: The right-wing is frowned upon due to past governments. There is also a far-right paramilitary group formed by former members of the right-wing military dictatorship which terrorizes remote settlements. (If I have a colonizer) People from the former imperial power are often frowned upon due to the past.
  • View on immigration into country: There is not a lot of immigration, however it is generally accepted, as long as they learn the language.
  • Women's Rights: Legally, women have the same rights as men, however, a 'machismo' culture is still present, and women are often expected to assume traditional gender roles, and are frequently objectified.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Alcohol and tobacco is widely used. Marijuana is also grown and is legal in the privacy of one's home, and licenced establishments. Coca leaves are legal to grow, chew and use in the manufacture of some products, however it is illegal to use coca to produce drugs. As a result of this complicated policy, drug production in the dense rain forest has become a problem.
Other:
  • Factbook: I have some factbooks. I am trying my best to write all of the ones on my to do list, and my friend has introduced me to iiWiki, though I haven't really written anything on iiWiki yet.
  • RP Preferences: I have been involved with state-visit RPs, and Military RPs in the past. I enjoy both. Once I have a well-made Intelligence Service factbook and iiWiki complete with characters, I want to start doing James Bond movie plot style RPs involving other nations and international criminals, as I don't think I've seen that done before, and it sounds like a lot of fun.
  • RP Samples: (If not available, ask for a prompt.) Please prompt. I haven't RP'd on this nation.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: None that are used anymore. My former nation was Nuevo Lucamania.
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): No problems.
  • Anything else?: I'm aware there is no Spanish colonizer. I'd appreciate if someone could help me work around this for world-building purposes, as I can't just throw out the Spanish language. I could either just not be a former colony, though this makes big changes to my history and national identity (so I rather not), or we can figure out a work-around with an existing nation or nations. It's really more the question of Spanish as a language. Maybe the colonial settler's language could have mixed with the native tongue to form Spanish? Thanks! EDIT: DISREGARD THIS! WE SORTED IT ON DISCORD.

National information
Official Name: Archkingdom of Sjealand OR Sjealandic Realm
Shortened Name: Sjealand
Requested Location: This
RP Population: 29,657,434
Culture: Sjealandic culture is primarily based on Danish and Scandinavian cultures, with a specific maritime and mercantile spin on it. Sjealandic culture is highly closed if youre an outsider but incredibly open for those within, leading Sjealandic people to be seen as somewhat arrogant or cold, even if its primarily a trait of their own hesitation. Religion plays a part in Sjealandic culture in that many religious holidays are an adamant part of the average persons life and worship is an important part of the individuals identity, especially their preferred and guardian gods. Thus the community itself is at the heart of the culture as one is not expected to feel above the community but to contribute to it and take care of it while maintaining ones own success. High culture is a specific fondness for the Sjealandic peoples, as a past of succesful trade has left a people with strong ties to the arts, a trait deeply entrenched in the culture as artists, musicians, sculptors and actors are wildly celebrated alongside the monarchy and those succesful in the nation.
  • Ethnicity: Danish (Tynic), Swedish (Brattic), Norwegian (Fjeldric), Icelandic (Laugarán) and Faroese (Øic or Oic)
  • Religion: Norse Paganism
  • Languages: The official language is Danish (Tynic) with regional languages being Swedish (Brattic), Norwegian (Fjeldric), Icelandic (Laugarán) and Faroese (Øic or Oic)
Government Type: Unitary Bicarmeral Parlimentary Constitutional Monarchy in which the monarch retains some powers.
Head of State: Frederik VI Håkon Ólafur Ragnar Karl-Gustav de Lyksborg, Archking of Sjealand (Ærkekonge)
Head of Government: Sigve Solvang, President of the Sjealandic Rigsdag (Rigsdagsforstander)
National Overview:

The Archkingdom of Sjealand also known as the Sjealandic Realm is a monarchy spanning several major islands in northern Euclea. Famous for its maritime history and the capital city of Asgård, the nation has existed in some form since the coronation of Valdemar I the Great in 756 to the modern day, with the 55th archking Frederik VI recieving the crown in 2012 after his elderly father. This long age is seen in the nation as hesitation and patience are traits of the nation and its strong preference for maintaining its own cultural and historical monuments and writings. Some say the country was founded on the backs of thralls and they wouldnt be wrong, as since its inception thralls played a major part in the Sjealandic economy, working the mines in the mountains and acting as domestic servants or in the worst case working in brothels. This freed up a significant part of the population to work in other fields, primarily maritime trade, in which Sjealand excelled thanks to its capable sailors and advantageous position. Its capital Asgård, a local centre of trade aligned itself with the mercantile cities of Norday in a wider trading pact, leading to further cross-cultural pollination and trade, primarily in southern Sjealand. Historically the country was not expansionist, preferring to use its own easily defendable borders, and when trying to conquer, it was done to achieve better defensible borders. Great interest was however taken in bettering relations with its neighbours so to expand the possbilities for trade.

In the modern day Sjealand is a small country outside of the power-sphere. Preferring to mind their own business and maintain good relations with the majority of its neighbours Sjealand pursues a friendly and armed neutral foreign policy, preferring to negotiate with foreign nations and keep its military at home. With its strong focus on culture, Sjealand and specifically the capital of Asgård is popular amongst tourists, with the greater Asgård metropolitan areaalone attracting 9.7 million visitors in 2016 measured by hotel stays. This along with its strong diamond and jewel industry has cemented Sjealands role as a trading nation, with no interest in most greater conflicts and with a greater interest in its own profits and maintaining its wealthy population and civil liberties.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality was never looked down upon in Sjealandic culture as sexual relations between the genders was seen as normal, marriage however was reserved for men and women along with adoption until the seventies.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Generally sceptical of foreign religions with a greater interest in maintaining its own. The Nordic Faith in Sjealand does however recognize all foreign gods as existing.
  • General population's view on atheism: No qualms.
  • General population's view on abortion: Fully legal and supported.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): No general prejudices among the general population however assimilation into one of the ''home groups'' of ethnic and cultural groups is mandated for immigrants.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation None
  • View on immigration into country: Indifferent to sceptical. Becoming a citizen is hard and requires that the immigrant to pledge to abandon their old culture.
  • Women's Rights: Women shared equal rights with men from the beginning.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Drinking alcohol is a major part of Sjealandic culture, with most starting around the age of 14, tobacco is more restricted but legal however at higher prices, the same is true for hash. All other drugs are illegal.

Official Name: Thrynic Halyrate
Shortened Name: Thrynia
Requested Location: Land between Ellisos and Ahnurvey, panhandle touching Ahnurvey's northern border
RP Population: 54 million
Culture: Somewhat inspired by Persian and Byzantine culture. Language is an isolate.
  • Ethnicity: Thrynic (similar to Persians)
  • Religion: Suhuranism
  • Languages: Thrynic (Thryida)
Government Type: Representative Monarchy
Head of State: Halyress Lugandal II Dara
Head of Government: Chancellor Thelon
National Overview: Socially conservative, the nation has no written constitution, with the fundamental law of the land deriving from historical layers of political accords and tradition. The monarchy remains a highly important institution: though bearing only symbolic power, the monarch is treated by Suhuranist doctrine, and by extension by many of the people, as a living god.
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Neutral: historic examples of pederasty among the upper classes (now illegal) and religious mentions of a "third gender" have made homosexuality generally accepted. Marriage is not legislated by the state, therefore there is no Gay marriage debate.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Religiosity remains strong. General animosity.
  • General population's view on atheism: Strong animosity.

National information
Official Name: The Kingdom of Luzarra
Shortened Name: Luzarra
Requested Location: This
RP Population: 21,231,125
Culture: Luzarran culture is primarily based on real life Basque culture, though with some variations that reflect it being a northerly island archipelago. Luzarrans have a tendency towards mysticism and provincial mindsets. They are very much a people that know what they like and like what they know. Some of their cultural fixations include local sport (including wrestling, rock-throwing, javelin throwing, and other rustic type activities), spiritualism, religious rituals, dancing and music. Like neighboring Sjealand, Luzarra tends to seem like a very closed country to outsiders but a very open one to those within, largely owed to being a remote nation with a strange people.
  • Ethnicity: Luzarran (Basque)
  • Religion: Luzarran Paganism
  • Languages: The official language is Luzarran (Basque)
Government Type: Executive Monarchy with a Bicameral Legislature.
Head of State: Zigor VII, King of Luzarra
Head of Government: Harold Hardugas, Prime Minister
National Overview:

The Kingdom of Luzarra is a monarchy spanning several islands in the northern Euclea, south of Sjealand. Like it’s northern neighbor it has a long and storied maritime history, though the evolution of the nation was quite different. Several of the islands were their own island kingdoms beginning in antiquity, including the largest island where the capital city of Aberasturi is located. It is from this island that the modern Kingdom of Luzarra was forged and from where the modern Kings of Luzarra descend.

The past two millennia largely consisted of bloody wars between these feuding island kingdoms, in addition to wars against neighboring Sjealand. While Sjealand utilized slavery, the Luzarrans abhorred the practice, and fought to defend their peoples from the practice, with dubious degrees of success. Much of the history of Luzarra features entanglements with Sjealand, to the extent that at one time, a King of Luzarra considered himself the blood heir of the King of Sjealand, and upon the latter king’s death, sought to obtain the throne of Sjealand and unite it with that of Luzarra. Thus began a hundred year long war, that ultimately ended in a Sjealandic victory.

Luzarra was slow to shake off notions of absolutism and developed a nationalistic streak in the 19th century, which featured the king installing military strongmen to assume the reins of government. This continued largely until the 1980s, when King Gartzea IX ascended the throne and instituted several democratic reforms (which his recent son and successor is less enthusiastic towards).

Today the country, while small, sees itself as an important tourist attraction due to it’s ancient structures, flashy coastal cities and underdeveloped island interiors, where many people still live “the old way” among clans, and in the more remote parts of the country, in tribal arrangements. By and large, Luzarra struggles to straddle the line between the rich traditions of its past and the world of the future, which might not have room for Luzarra’s ancient customs and idiosyncrasies.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality wasn’t offensive in Luzarra because sexual relations between people of the same sex was considered acceptable, though marriage was reserved for men and women on account of it being a ceremony binding mates (a mating pact, if you will).
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Foreign religions are regarded with skepticism and at various times in history, with hostility. Today people are generally more accepting and tolerant of them.
  • General population's view on atheism: Most people are ambivalent about religion and don’t mind it, though in more traditional areas people strongly detest the denouncement of the Gods.
  • General population's view on abortion: A slight majority of people agree with the national policy of abortion being illegal except in the event of fetal defects, endangerment of the mother’s life or pregnancies as a result of rape or incest. A sizable and very vocal minority want those laws to be loosened and become more liberal.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Xenophobia is a common characteristic of the average Luzarran, concerned about preserving their nation’s traditional customs. This is especially true of Sjealandic peoples, though younger generations are less concerned about them.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Sjealandic peoples, though as previously stated this has become diminished with subsequent generations.
  • View on immigration into country: Skeptical. Becoming a citizen is an arduous process (people born in Luzarra are not by default considered Luzarran citizens, unless a parent was Luzarran).
  • Women's Rights: Women have always shared equal rights with men, though in some circumstances have had “more rights” in clan and tribal structures where women were rulers.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Alcohol, while not especially prevalent on a cultural level, is legal at the age of 14, as is the use of tobacco and marijuana. Other drugs are also legal, but highly regulated and have a higher legal age (some are 18, others are 21).

Other:
  • Factbook: WIP
  • RP Preferences: Character-driven narratives, diplomacy and intrigue. Am willing to participate in war RPs on a case-by-case basis.
  • RP Samples: RP Resume
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Ghant
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): No
  • Anything else?: I appreciate the opportunity and your consideration.

National information
Official Name: Royal Union of Keldavan Provinces
Shortened Name: Keldava, or Keldavan Union
Requested Location: Three provinces between Amathia and Etruria. The area directly below Etruria is left out. The other two coastal areas, as well as the closest inland one.
RP Population: This is actually debated, on religious lines. Different internal churches and religious organizations lay different claims as to how many members they have, and the continuity and conflictive nature of this makes it difficult to calculate. Estimated around 17.5 million
Culture: In more western areas, Moldovan/Romanian makes up an accurate ethnic description. In eastern areas, there is Bulgarian/Croat cultures relatively combined, as well as a Serbian minority.
  • Ethnicity: Kelaoans (Moldovans), Erolanians (Bulgars), Kelo-Etrur (Croat)
  • Religion: Eastern Orthodox, with small amounts of Catholicism and local Paganism.
  • Languages: Kelan (Moldovan), Erolian (Bulgarian), Etrurian language
Government Type: Confederal parliamentary semi-constitutional monarchy (The Monarch can make executive decisions)
Head of State: King Radu VIII
Head of Government: Union Minister Ion Karascu (Crown Confederal Party)
National Overview: Keldava is a right-wing nation. With conservatism and monarchism being held dear for centuries, the nation is a bulwark of it's ideology in southern Elucea. Although small socialist and liberal parties do exist, the nation's people are orientated to a majority ideology of traditionalism. However the nation is willing to put aside these views in diplomacy for the sake of peace.

Keldava is a constitutional monarchy, however the Monarch has the ability to make executive decisions and is not a figurehead. The nation is confederal, made up of 5 Provinces, and 22 regions within those Provinces. Each province has a largely autonomous government, each of which takes on different systems. 3 Provinces are monarchies, one is an oligarchic directory, and one is a republic.

The country's military is made up of 220,000 active troops, as well as 40,000 reserve units. The nation frequently conducts exercises and involves itself in trade with nations such as Amathia, Etruria, and Gaullica. The nation is largely neutral, although I guess it's part of the Euclean Community.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Although many laws prevent some gay activites, there is no formal law against it itself. However most of the population frowns on it and acts are discouraged.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Nobody really cares, but if somebody begins actively spreading their religion, they will not be respected.
  • General population's view on atheism: Frowned on.
  • General population's view on abortion: Illegal unless extreme conditions.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Extreme racism is not rare, but it's a growing trend. Not seen socially very often doe.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation People who wear socks and sandals are very disrespected in our country.
  • View on immigration into country: It's frowned on socially and in politics.
  • Women's Rights: Most men's rights are enjoyed too by women.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco is discouraged but common in poor areas. Same w/ drugs. No problem with alcohol.

Other:
  • Factbook: (IIWiki preferred. Not required, but helpful if you have one already.) I don't have one yet, obviously I'll make one when accepted, if accepted.
  • RP Preferences: (What kind of RPs do you prefer? Military? Diplomatic? Character driven?) Military and Diplomatic, less so much character driven.
  • RP Samples: (If not available, ask for a prompt.) See this nation's forum posts.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: This one, Rouesia
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.):

National information
Official Name: Reaino d'Alagrave (Kingdom of Alagarve)
Shortened Name: Alagarve
Requested Location:
Image

RP Population: 29,000,000
Culture:
  • Ethnicity: Alagrave classifies race and ethnicity along the lines of the colonial casta system. Though the system itself is no longer part of society or government, the labels themselves remain used in both censuses and common discourse. The politically dominant ethnic group would be the Crioulos, those of primarily Lusitanic descent, and comprise roughly 31% of the population. Negrios, the blacks, make up 17% of the population, while the Indios, the natives, comprise around 20%.
The Mestiço, those of mixed Indio and Crioulo descent make up 28% of the population, along with small numbers of Mulados (mixed Negrio and Crioulo blood), Cafuzos (mixed Indio and Negrio blood) and Pardos (mixture of Crioulo, Negrio, and Indio blood). Alagarvese is roughly analogous to a mixture of Portuguese, Brazilian, Galician, and Basque.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholicism of the Lusitanic Rite, led by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Porto Cilves.
  • Languages: Alagarvese is the primary language of Alagarve. It originates from continental Lusitanian language, but contains many loanwords and phrases from the Indio languages, particularly the Tamayurá language.
Government Type: National Syndicalist Monarchy
Head of State: Reai Duarte IV Carlo
Head of Government: Estatuder Joao Rafael Sáenz, Marquis of Nuevo Estrella
National Overview: The Kingdom of Alagarve is a decentralized monarchy organized according the the principles of national syndicalism. The King posseses broad authority over matters of nation defense, domestic policy, and foreign affairs, but day to day matters are by and large run by the state councils. Alagarve began as a Lusitanian colony, but declared independence after Lusitania was overrun by Florena. The Crown Prince of Lusitania, who had been on a visit of state to the colony, declared to independence of Alagarve, refusing the Florenese demands to become their colony. A brief war of independence was fought, with the loyalist forces victorious. However, the Kingdom would soon fall into conflict, as the King took his title of "defender of the realm" quite seriously, laucnhing judicial and legal reforms, and preventing the criollu elite from exploiting the native Tamayurá tribes. Simmering resentment between the monarchy and the bourgeoisie and landowners led to the First Liberal War, which lasted from 1821-1824. Wealthy landowners declared the "Republic of Alagarve", and forced King Joao II Henrique to flee to the western highlands, where he raised an army of loyalist who had deserted from the republican army, freed slaves, and indian tribesmen. Led by the brilliant Tamayura general Henrique Lupo, the Royalists were able to recapture Porto Cilves by 1823, and the last pockets of resistance were destroyed by 1824. The Kingdom of Alagarve would enter a golden age of economic and cultural prosperity, lasting until shortly before the second Liberal War, which began in 1883, and was once again caused by the conflict between the King and the elites, this time over the King's unilateral abolition of slavery. The Second Liberal War was marked by brutality on both sides, and the revolutionaries conducted a scorched earth campaign before being driven into the mountains, holding out from 1886-1889, long after the majority of the fighting had ended. The Monarchy would attempt to rebuild it's prestige and standing, but the moral authority of the monarch had been weakened by the bitter partisanship of the war. The incompetent and childless King Duarte II Bonifacio would be deposed in 1927, following the brief Third Liberal War, which ended in the establishment of the Second Republic, which would last for over twenty years.

The Republic was, at first, fairly open, even allowing opening royalist parties into the parliament, but both left and right would become increasingly radicalised as time went on. The murder of leading right wing theoretician and philosopher Augusto Pilnio de Alves by radical republicans would prove the catalyst for a large-scale uprising in 1946. The first to mutiny was the Alagarvese High Seas Fleet, which proceeded to bombard the capital buildings in Porto Cilves, and forced to government to flee the capital following an assault on the city by two divisions of marines. Indio Militias and defectors from the army and security forces bolstered the royalist army, but Socialist paramilitaries quickly swelled the ranks of the republican forces. Three years of brutal fighting ensued, with the war being exacerbated by the sometimes violent political infighting that was rampant on both sides. Royalist victory was officially proclaimed in 1949, and the Kingdom was restored in 1951, but scattered insurgencies would continue for decades, eventually flaring up into the present Northern Highlands Conflict, a three sided conflict between the Kingdom, socialist militias, and drug cartels. The present King, Duarte IV Carlo, took the throne upon the death of his father in 2003, and is beloved by most Alagarvese, seen as a symbol of the nation's history and pride.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexual activity is generally frowned upon by the population of Alagarve, though no law against homosexuality exists. Homosexual unions, civil or religious, are entirely unrecognized.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Alagarve is a deeply religious nation, and although there is, on paper, freedom of religion, Solarian Catholicism is the State Religion, and it is extremely difficult for non-Catholics to progress in society.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is frowned upon, and many even consider it to be a disorder of the mind. There are not, however, any laws against atheism or it’s propagation.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is strictly banned, classified as murder in the first degree and a capital crime. Artificial contraception, sterilization, and euthanasia are likewise banned.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Alagarve is a racially progressive regime, with the NJSI enjoying broad support among both Negrios and Indios. Many wealthier, bourgeoisie crioulo do, however, have racist views of non-whites.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Capitalists and Communists alike are viewed with considerable hostility, and descrimination against homosexuals and other "deviants" are also prevalent.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration to Alagarve is fairly limited, consisting mainly of unskilled labour, but even this is quite restricted. Most Alagarvese are wary of large scale immigration, even on the political left.
  • Women's Rights: Women posses equal rights with men, with female suffrage being instituted by the NJSI upon coming to power. However, due to the NJSI's Living Wage Act of 1953, which mandated a just and living wage for all workers and their families, women in the workplace are generally rare, as families only need one breadwinner, and this is compounded by Alagarve's socially conservative views.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco is a major cash crop, though it's usage in Alagarve has been in a slow decline for decades, and is now mostly exported. Alcohol is prevalent, indeed, perhaps even pervasive, in most social functions, particularly wine. Cannabis is under a general ban, punishable by fine for possession/use, and jail time for sale/manufacture, save for an exception for tribal rituals and ceremonies. Narcotics, stimulants, hallucinogenics, and the like are punishable by jail time for possession/use, and are potentially a capital crime for sale/manufacture. Drug cartels are one of several factions in the ongoing insurgency in the northern highlands.

National information
Official Name: Grand Duchy of Trevelia (Великое княжество Деревляское, Velikoe knjažestvo Derevljaskoe)
Shortened Name: Trevelia (Деревлия, Derevlija)
Requested Location: That lavender-coloured area west of Gaullica
RP Population: 10,726,402
Culture: The country is divided on multiple counts between the Trevelians (vaguely Russians) and the Solariotes (somewhat Romansh). The Trevelians are a Marolevic people that moved into the territory after the fall of the Solarian Empire, while the Solariotes are the descendants of the earlier Teno-Solarians inhabitants, later integrating Weranic elements from another invaders.

  • Ethnicity: Trevelians are the majority by large at 71.08%, with the Solariotes being the second largest group at 19.71%. A small Carinthian minority (4.32%) exists in Sagranice, a region close to the Etrurian border.
  • Religion: The Trevelian Uniate Church (Greek Catholic) is the main religion of the country, at 62.55%, almost exclusively ethnic Trevelians. The Solarian Catholic Church, at 18.49%, is the religion of most Solariotes (and Carinthians). The Trevelian Epismialian Church is the third notable religion, with 4.33%. Irreligion of all kinds number 10.71% of the population, a growing number.
  • Languages: The linguistic divide is almost equal to the ethnic divide. Trevelian (pretty much Russian, with some archaisms there and there and influences from northern dialects) is the sole official and main language of the country. Notably, Trevelian displays synchronic digraphia, with both the Cyrillic and Latin alphabets being used side by side. Various Solariotes (Romansh) dialects are spoken by the eponymous ethnicity, and the same goes for the Carinthian minority.
Government Type: Federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy
Head of State: Grand Duke Yurij VII
Head of Government: Premier Miron Gavrin
    National Overview:
  • Politics: Trevelia is a federation of 13 storony (states), which have legislative authority distinct from the central government in a number of fields, and each maintain their own parliaments and state government. The country's legislature, the Veche, is composed of the Chamber of Delegates, representing the states, and the Chambre of Representatives, representing the people. The Premier is the head of government, and is appointed by the Grand Duke following the Veche's recommendation. The monarchy is almost entirely figurative. The main political party, sometimes described as the party of power, is the liberal Constitutional Democratic Party, with its main opponents being the conservative National Union - Unity and the socialist Pantrevelian Workers' Party. Is a member of the EC, joined at some point in this millennium.
  • History: The area of modern-day Trevelia was first occupied by Tenic tribes, later conquered by the Solarian Empire. It gets invaded by Weranic tribes near the fall of the Empire, then later by Marolevs. Spend most of its mediaeval history resisting Verliquois' attempts to enforce their claim and grows united in the face of the threat. Conversion to Sotirianity in the beginning of the second millennium, side with the Epismialist Church if only to counteract Verliquois' influence. At some point a Catholic ruler come into power, as the result some kind of "crusade", leading to the divisive entry of the Trevelian Church into communion with the Catholic Church, leading to the modern religious situation.
    - Spend most of the early 20th century alternating between different form of governments, is generally a mess. A somewhat accepted compromise is found in 1919. Gets invaded by Gaullica during the Great War, occupation is especially harsh despite and because of heavy Trevelian resistance.
    - Post-war government is quickly taken over by the All-Trevelian Movement "Purity" (Obščederevljaskoe Dviženie "Čistota", ODCh), mainly backed by the military. Grows increasingly reactionary and generally unsavoury as it consolidates power. Heavily persecute Solariotes for their "betrayal" in cooperating with Gaullica during the war, with low-level conflict in the eastern mountains, homeland of the Solariotes. Internal divisions, popular discontent and foreign pressure forces the regime to make concessions starting in the 70s, ultimately leading to its fall in 1986 after a failed referendum in a final bid to retain power.
    - A provisional government is established, monarchy is re-established in a referendum and the current federal structure is established. Ever since it's quite a functional democracy that ended up joining the EC, although both corruption and organised crime are issues, even if well-hidden ones.

Social views: The ODCh regime support for conservative (if not reactionary) values still has effect today, and despite an initial backlash against everything ODCh and increase in liberal views, it has subsided. Views tend to vary from state to state, following the usual urban-rural divide. Solariotes tend to be more liberal than Trevelians in general.
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality isn't criminalised, civil unions are allowed. Newer generations that haven't known the ODCh regime are much more accepting of homosexuality.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Despite being into communion, there is still slight distrust between members of the Uniate Church and the Solarian Catholic Church proper, due to the former benefiting from ODCh support while the latter ended up opposing it.
  • General population's view on atheism: Perhaps one of the few things that unites the nation is mistrust towards atheists, and irreligion in general.
  • General population's view on abortion: While allowed for most cases, abortion is still frowned upon socially, once again owing to the legacy of the ODCh.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): While Trevelian-Solariotes relations have greatly improved, the scars of persecution don't heal that easily and nationalists from both side like to stoke the fire.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation:
  • View on immigration into country: The elder generations tend to be more xenophobic, while younger ones are more tolerating.
  • Women's Rights: Women have nominally equal rights, but the patriarchal values that formed a cornerstone of the ODCh policy still remain.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
The fight against drugs, alcohol and tobacco is one of the few (mostly) unarguable achievements of the ODCh, and one of the few that wasn't that much touched upon by the subsequent governments, although usage of them is growing with the younger generations

  • Anything else?: If this wasn't clear enough, I'd be dropping Grubalevia in favour of Trevelia, which does reuse a few ideas from the former. I'd rather focus on a smaller country, especially one that I consider more interesting in the modern day. National information
Official Name: Kingdom of Werania
Shortened Name: Werania
Requested Location: Werania+Ruttland on map
RP Population: 62,579,000
Culture: The predominant culture of Werania is roughly an amalgamation of real-life “Upper German” (that is Southern German/Austrian/Swiss culture) cultural traditions. Around 50/50 Catholic-Protestant the former has been more dominant in Weranian history whilst other traditions (such as Ländler and Oktoberfest, to be renamed) originate from the country. There also exists several minority groups including but not limited to !notEnglish, !notFrisians and more northern/eastern German inspired culture on the border with Vredlandia.
  • Ethnicity: Weranian (ostensibly a mix of rl Austrians, Bavarians, Swabians, German Swiss and Liechtensteiners; but also applied to generally all !notGerman people) English, Frisians, bunch of smaller ethnic groups
  • Religion: Around 35% Solarian Catholic, 25% !notLutheran, 20% non-religious, 10% Vredlandian reformed church and 10% other religions .
  • Languages: German, English, Frisian with a hella lot of dialects
Government Type: Federal parliamentary constitutional “elective” monarchy (De facto hereditary)
Head of State: Queen Charlotte I
Head of Government: Prime Minister Otto von Hößlin (PMZ)
National Overview: tl;dr version - I am planning to port over several elements of Ruttish stuff (its political system and post-war politics alongside elements of its economy and foreign policy) to this version of Werania.
  • History:
-Human inhabit the area in bronze age period
-Part of various kingdoms; small city states and principalities
-Comes under the orbit of the Solarian Church
-Briefly united as the Ausberg Kingdom from around 500-1100 AD.
-Becomes a bunch of warring kingdoms, theocracies and free cities.
-"""United""" as the Weranian Confederation (name tba) - kinda like a mini Holy Roman Empire for the central states albeit with a very weak emperor at the top.
-The Conferation collapses sometime in the 1700’s-1800’s, as the result of something like the Peramonic Wars or a later one. For a century or so the central state of the kingdom of Ostbrant was the dominant state and by the 1840’s was able to unify Werania through a series of diplomatic wrangling, wars and marriages .
-Rapid state led industrialisation. Parliamentary democracy established (albeit a very Ostbrant focused one) as is colonial empire
-Great War - Werania maintains its sovereignty and its parliamentary system throughout.
-Nation remains under the rule of the centrist National Consolidation Party until 1995 which oversees decolonisation and economic growth. Founding member of the EC where it promotes a pro-free trade, economic liberal but anti-federalist stance in the bloc.
-Hit by 2005 recession the worst of the "big three" thanks to the collapse of Werania's banking system. Government avoids a bailout but forced to adopt significant austerity policies leading to economic slowdown and social discontent.
  • Politics: For most of the 20th century, Werania was under a dominant party system where the National Consolidation Party, an agrarian christian democratic party, ruled continuously for a 55 year period before being ousted from office in 1995 by a purple coalition of the social democratic Cooperative Party and the liberal conservative Modern Centre party. Since then governments have changed regularly. Currently National Consolidation, Modern Centre and the Cooperatives are the three major parties with minor ones including the liberal Party for Freedom and Progress and ecologist Greens. Elections are typically bland with the major parties having similar policies whilst governance is technocratic and consensus driven.
  • Economy: Werania has a social market economy that is predominantly service based. One of the earliest countries to industrialise Werania has outside of coal (which is now depleted to the point of no longer being economical to exploit) no natural resources but during the 20th century developed a large steel sector as the government created a corporatist economic model. Economic decline led to the economy to be liberalised in the 1980’s as the government deregulated finance and cut the corporation tax to 16%, making Werania somewhat of a financial centre. Since the 1980’s the government has attempted to turn Werania into a science and tech hub. The main exports of Werania is machinery, metals, foodstuffs and technology. Werania’s nominal GDP per capita is $42,045 and is GDP PPP per capita is $44,231.
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Relatively progressive, with gay marriage being legal since 2009 and recognition of non-binary people in 2015. However, there is still areas of the country that are very conservative and amongst those areas there can be discrimination to gay people.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Traditionally there was tensions between Catholics and Protestants. Recently there has been an acceptance of most religions, albeit there is some religious intolerance to !notJews and !notMuslims, mainly stemming from anti-immigration sentiments.
  • General population's view on atheism: Some conservative parts of the country aren’t fond of atheists, but they generally people adopt a live-and-let live attitude.
  • General population's view on abortion: Fairly liberal abortion law, but there is a sizeable pro-life lobby that has prevented abortion-on-demand laws.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): People are on the whole indifferent to race. However there is lowkey racism in society to non-white people’s
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Undecided
  • View on immigration into country: Despite 8.3% of the population being made up of immigrants, 72% of citizens believe immigration should be “drastically reduced”. Immigrants from wealthy EC states are better received than those from developing states.
  • Women's Rights: Women are considered by law to be equal citizens with strong anti-discrimination laws in place. Sexism still exists in society but is increasingly becoming fairly intolerant of such views.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:Werania has a drinking culture mainly based around beer, most prominently the Oktoberfest festival. Other alcohol is consumed albeit not to the same extent, with the drinking age being 17+. Tobacco used to be common but its use has been declining recently. Other forms of drugs are illegal, although the government has indicated it intends to legalise soft drugs such as cannabis “sometime in the future”.

Other: As you can guess, if this application is accepted that Ruttland will cease to exist with elements of it being merged into Werania, which will remain predominantly a conservative !notGerman state, albeit with Prussian influences heavily diminished (as Waldeck-Sipellia and Vredlandia seem to take up those influences) and it will be more anti-Gaullica historically than Ruttland.

Official Name:The Republic of Tirona (Ghalli: Ir-Repubblika ta ‘Tieronħa Badawiyan: مملكة تيريونيوس or Jumhuriyat Tirunīyyah, Gaullican: République de Tirona)
Shortened Name: Tirona
Requested Location: To the direct east of Akalia.(Option A: http://i.icap.me/1091530059533e843.png)
RP Population: 6 Million
Culture: The culture of Tirionius is very diverse, with many different cultures and religions combined together in the Kingdom. From the descendants of Catholic Crusading Eucleans to Salamic Badawiyans to Melkonites, the Kingdom is a blend of many different religions and cultures. This diversity has lead to longtime sectarianism and conflicts between regions. The inspiration for this is a combination of a Lebanon and a surviving Crusader State.
  • Ethnicity: There is no official ethnicity in the Republic. There are three major ethnicity in the Republic:
Eucleans (Ghalli | Għalli | Al-Ghalia) 4% - An urban population, largely upper and middle class, exclusively Solarian Catholic, descended from crusaders, Melkonite and Salamic converts, and colonial and modern Euclean immigrants, largely speak a Badawiyan influenced Solarian language Ghallian (!Maltese) natively and most Badawiyan and Gaullican as a secondaries, and are named after what the Badawiyans called them (i.e. after the Gaullicans, the most numerous crusaders). Very influential economically and politically but very vulnerable.
Melkonites 22% - Melkonites, although originally only referring to those who followed the religious Rite of Saint Melkus, was the term used by the Salamic conquerers to refer to all native Sotrians who live in Tirona. The smaller of the two and the namesake, the Melkonites, are in full communion with the Catholic Church, are largely located in the coastal and urban regions. The larger Tironan Apostolic Church is largely rural, with some communities scattered in the x mountains, largely belong to the Speak Badawiyan dialect as a native language, and most Ghallian as a secondary.
Badawiyans 76% - Largely interior and rural, though also found on the coast and in the cities. Most (70%) are Shima, while the rest are Tamazik or other minor sects.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholic - 4%
    Tironan Apostolic - 12%
    Melkonite Catholic - 11%
    Shima - 70%
    Tamazik + other - 6%
  • Languages: (see culture)
    Ghalli - (!Maltese)
    Badawiyan - (!Arabic + dialects)
Government Type: Bicameral Parliamentary Republic
Head of State: President Abbar Hussan
Head of Government: Prime Minister Julia Céleste
National Overview:
History: The Kingdom of Tirona was founded during the Crusades, but has a much deeper history than that. It is an ancient land, deeply rooted in history. Archaeologists have found traces of civilization back to before 9000 BC. The city of Tirona (A combination of !Antioch and !Byblos) in particular is ancient, being one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, having been inhabited since roughly 3000 BC. In the northwest of the country, a thriving trading civilization would emerge and spread their influence around the seas. The trading civilization soon came to an end, but the cities would continue to maintain their importance through the civilizations that controlled them. By the time of the arrival of the Solarian Empire, Tirona was one of the most important cities Northern Badawiya. The Solarians conquered the region in the first century BC, and it became an important city to the Empire. With the rise of Sotirianism, the people of Tirona were the first to call the followers of the way “Sotirians”, and it became a stronghold of early Sotrianity. St. Peter consecrated St. Ignatius of Tirona (St. Ignatius) as the Bishop of Tirona. The city of Tirionius would continue to remain one of the holiest centres of Sotrianity. After the Solarian persecutions, Saint Melkus, a monk, would found a new rite and religious way of life that became popular with many of the Sotrians on the coasts, known as Melkonites. Those who preferred to stick to the old Tironan Rite remained largely inland. After the collapse of the Solarian Empire the region would be thrown into turmoil. Conflict erupted between the Tironans and the Melkonites during the sixth century, when a Melkonite was elected as Patriarch of Tirona, with Papal Approval. The Tironans would refuse this, and would set up their own candidate as Patriarch. This infighting left the naturally defensible land vulnerable, so that in the sixth century, when the country was invaded by the Salamic Caliphate, they were able to conquer the natives easily and over time convert most of the population to Salam and replace their identity with a Badawiyan one. Over time the Melkonites gradually replaced their native tongue with Badawiyan for day to day speech, relegating it to a liturgical tongue. During the First Crusade, Gaullican noble Count Raymond de Montfort brought his forces to liberate the city of Tirona after the success in capturing Adunis. They captured Tirona, Raymond was proclaimed Prince of Tirona, and quickly set about stabilizing his newly liberated land. Over his and his successors’ reigns their realm was slowly expanded. The native Melkonites were at first hestitantly welcoming, but soon became antagonistic due to interference in Church matters. The already hostile Tironan Rite, which had conflicts with the Melkonite, entered into official schism with the Solarian Church, while the Melkonites reaffirmed their union. Over time the Principality receded as the other crusader states fell, and the influence of the monarchs beyond the coastal cities was non-existent, largely relying upon local Melkonite leaders to enforce their rule, although the Eucleans were able to defend the naturally defensible land, preventing the neighboring Salamic states from conquering the Principality. Coming under Gaullican influence in the mid 16th century, it would remain an ally until the Pereramonic Wars when Nestor Pereramon sent a small expedition which replaced the monarchs with one of his own, though after his defeat it was granted to a Gaullican noble. It would become a part of the Gaullican colonial empire after this, a protectorate under the protection of said family. Upon sudden independence and the forced abdication of the monarchy in 1935 tensions began to boil over, and the newly made republic fell into a brief civil war as Melkonites and Badawiyans were outraged over the constitution biased towards Euclean control. Occupying forces were able to broker a ceasefire and construct a constitution granting powers and protections to each religious and ethnic group, and delegate power to them, though still unproportionally. Although enjoying a period of rapid modernisation and economic boom into the 80s, since then increasing Badawiyan control has seen the constitution altered many times with the Melkonites and Eucleans losing their bonus seats and the removal of mandatory shared executives, allowing for Badawiyan dominance at least publicly.

Government: Ceremonial president chosen by parliament. The government is lead by the Prime Minister and the party which controls the House of Delegates. The Parliament is divided into two chambers, the House of Delegates, and the House of Assembly. The House of Delegates is a body of 250 delegates that are elected every 5 years, that represents the 25 provinces of the Kingdom, with each province getting 10 seats. This is considered the official main House of Parliament. The House of Representatives is a body of 350 Representatives that is representative of religion in the Kingdom. Each religion has a certain amount of guaranteed seats based on the percentage of the population, and only members of that religion are allowed to vote in special elections that occur every 10 years, after a census is taken which determines the amount each House will have.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexual unions are illegal. However, there is no legal penalty against homosexual acts. It is generally frowned upon by society, though.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one:There is no primary religion as the nation is officially secular. While to outside observers there are clear cut divisions between the members of different faiths, the communities tend to blend and work together in most areas.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is legal, but often viewed with distrust by the most religious members of society (regardless of what religion).
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion and contraception are illegal, though there have been recent movements to legalize both.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There is no official ethnic group. However there has always been deep divides among the diverse population on all sides against other ethnic groups.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Yes. The sectarian nature of the country leads to some tension between the different religions and ethnic groups, which have plagued its history.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is fairly regulated, but not strictly enforced, and not frowned upon.
  • Women's Rights: There is no legal discrimination of women in the country, and women have equal rights.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:Tobacco and alcohol are legal, while all other recreational drugs are illegal.

Philip had finished yet another campaign. After returning from Burgundy, he had been campaigning all around the Outremier. Enforcing order and compliance with the law and stamping out all resistance, he had finished bringing the Outreimer for the most part under his rule. The last battle had been a former Mamluk warlord who lived in the Negev desert and raided the nearby city. They had been no match for Philip's army. By this point, all the men who wished too had been sent home or were garrisoned. Those who were left in his army were battle-trained, and fiercely loyal to him. When out on campaign, he chose not to enjoy the luxuries he could so easily obtain. Instead he lived as his men did. He ate with them, drank with them, fought with them. He slept on a soldier's cot. By this point, gambling and rowdiness had been virtually eliminated from the army. These men had fought for years under his command, and had seen everything. They were serious men, with complete trust in their commander, who had been to hell and back with them.
Emperor Philip rode into the city of Jerusalem at the head of his army. To the citizens of Jerusalem, no longer was Philip a conqueror, but rather seemed like a man weary yet determined. He seemed well older than he actually was. He was only 35 years, but he looked as if he was decades older. No longer was he "Philip the handsome". Almost all of his hair was grey, and he was sporting a beard that had not been shaved in a long time. As he rode through the city, people stood in the streets, gazing at this man who was their King and Emperor. He seemed a weary man, worn through many trials and storms, but carried a steely fire in his eyes that showed his determination, that he was still ready to fight. Reaching the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, he paused outside and gazed up at it. The most sacred place in Christendom, having both the place where Christ died and rose again- he had been there before, but it always gave him pause every time he came. He dismounted, and told his guards to wait outside, as he would like some time to himself within the Church.
Inside the Church itself, he was utterly alone. He walked through the hallowed halls, his footsteps echoing in the silence. In here, he was no Emperor. In here, he was no King. In here, he was merely a humble pilgrim, one of the many, many who came to show their love of God and contrition for their sins. He was a sinner, just as much as any man, and he so desperately needed God's forgiveness. Of course, even on campaign, he had Mass everyday with his personal chaplain and confessor, and whenever he could read through the Sacred Texts, the writings of the Saints, as well as other secular works. But there was something more profound about being alone in the most holy space in all of Christendom. He walked up the steps of cavalry, mediating on the Passion of His Lord. Without realizing it, he soon realized his was climbing the steps on his knees. Eventually, having passed the Chapel of the Franks and the Chapel of the Nailing of the Cross, he came to Calvary himself. At this point, on his knees he began to weep. 'If so a great a God would do all of this for me, a humble sinner', he thought as the tears streamed down his face.
As he prayed, all of his concerns and fears washed over him. He laid at the feet of his Savior all the things that burdened him and troubled him. Managing the largest domain in the world, the pressures of ruling were enormous. Every day new troubles and new issues were brought before him, even on campaign. He thought of his men. All of the men who fought with him, who trusted him with their lives. How could men do such things? He thought of all the men who died under his command. It was not uncommon that he would be with one of his men in the hospital tent during their last moments. He thought of his family, now scattered. His lovely wife Joanna ruling Spain in his stead and raising their son Charles, their daughters Eleanor and Isabella, and his young boys Francis and John. His son Ferdinand was in Constantinople, learning how to rule and manage an empire, with his sister Mary to keep him company. He missed all of them. When Ferdinand was older he hoped to train him in the art of war. But his demesne was so large, he would probably never get to teach Charles quite what he wanted too. He trusted his wife to raise Charles into a good man. But he was unsure if Charles would understand his place and his duty; things he was trying to instruct to Ferdinand. He worried about what would happen after his death. Would his sons and their sons and their sons be pious, virtuous and true men, or would they let the vast power and wealth they inherit turn them to worldly pleasures? Would the Germans claim with his death the Eastern Empire illegitimate and seek to kill poor Ferdinand? Bearing these things in his heart, he lays them all before God.
As he was praying all of these things, he perchanced to hear these words very faintly: "My son, do not be troubled. Thy burden is great, thy yoke heavy. Draw closer to Me, and let Me into thy heart. Thou art beset with many troubles and concerns. Realize that, in Me, thou hast not the need to worry. Have faith in Me. I will set all things right. If thou wouldst trust in Me, I will give thee all that thou needest. Remember that nothing happens except through Me. If thou dwellest with Me, thou wilt see things not as man sees, but as God sees. Incline thy heart to Me, My son, and I will give thee rest, a perfect peace that only I can give."
Several hours later, Philip comes out of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. His guards notice something is different. They ask him, "Your Majesty, is everything all right?" He turns towards them, and nods. A change seemed to have come over him. Whilst he seemed weary and overburdened before, he seemed free. His determination has not changed. At that moment, a messenger runs up and says to him, "Your Majesty, Turkish warlords have risen up again in Georgia and are rebelling against your rule." Philip nodded and said, "Well, men, it's time to do our duty, isn't it?"

A Man is a Democrat because he himself wants to rule, a man is a Monarchist because he wants to be ruled well.
“The best reason why Monarchy is a strong government is, that it is an intelligible government. The mass of mankind understand it, and they hardly anywhere in the world understand any other. ” Walter Bagehot

National information
Official Name: The Commonwealth of Azmara
Shortened Name: Azmara
Requested Location: The space next to Buckland.
RP Population: 10,029,100
Culture: The nation's culture is broadly Weranic (West Germanic); it also has somewhat of a maritime influence to it due to its position as a merchant republic in the 16th and 17th centuries. It still retains a lot of influence from the traditional Weranic culture; ideas common in old Weranic culture such as retribution and community responsibility are still seen influencing Azmarans. A notable habit of Azmarans is their reluctance to open up about their personal lives; excessively talking about one's personal life to others can be seen as attention-seeking or bragging. However, this attribute also has with it a sense of social libertarianism; people generally don't mind what others do in their personal lives so long as they keep it to themselves. This applies to individual achievement and wealth as well; flaunting these is seen as taboo. Azmaran culture is also rather egalitarian in the modern day; universal suffrage and equal rights are seen as a founding principle of the current government, and this can be seen in many areas; Azmara has elected many female Presidents and Prime Ministers, the general wealth inequality distribution is quite low; and many Azmarans see concepts such as nobility to be anti-Azmaran, despite a nobility existing until 1848. Many Azmarans are moderately nationalistic in a cultural and civic way, being proud of their nation's culture and values.
  • Ethnicity: The largest ethnic group in Azmara, by far, are the Azmarans themselves, the descendants of the Veranic settlers that arrived in Azmara in the 5th century, and the native Celtic populations. The indigenous population is relatively homogenous; while the seven provinces have cultural variation they all consider themselves Azmaran, and while some promote federalism, seperatism is rare due to this. However, in recent years, the immigrant population has been growing, which has seen mixed reception, with the anti-immigration Folkspartii gaining influence, although it is countered by the left-wing, immigrant rights Ny Azmaara party. Both of them have been minor partners in coaltion governments in the 2010s.
  • Religion: The dominant religion is the Church of Azmara, an Amendist Sotirian church that arose in the 1600's as the nation overthrew its monarch. Compared to many churches, it is fairly liberal, having recently condoned the practise of same-sex marriage within the church and having representative democratic structure. Members have been known for siding strongly with workers rights, leading to a Sortirian socialist movement which sees an influence in the Sortirian democratic Sortiren Folksrâgelen and social democratic Arbeiderpartii parties.
  • Languages: The sole national language of Azmara is the Azmaran language, a Weranic languge closely related to Buckish, Estmerish and Ruttlandic. While it has endured many grammatical simplifications and phonology changes, it is known for some rather conservative features, preferring to use Azmaran calques of foreign words and new compound words to describe new concepts.
Government Type: Unitary parliamentary republic.
Head of State: President Maarija Ryginsdohter (Independent)
Head of Government: Prime Minister Eryk Jorśsun (Workers' Party)
National Overview: (this can be changed and modified to incorporate my neighbours) The nation of Azmara was first settled by Celtic peoples in prehistory, who established settlements and small civilisations. Most information about these peoples comes from writings of onlookers, as they generally did not write, although recent archaeological work has contributed to it. These peoples, however, were later usurped and amalgamated into Weranic settlers in the 5th century, who were the ancestors of the modern Azmaran people.

As time went on missionaries converted them to Sotirianism and the people formed petty kingdoms, similar to the Anglo Saxon heptarchy seen in England. There was a current power struggle between these kingdoms, with the dominant kingdom often changing during this time, but eventually the Kingdom of Groonbank prevailed against the others, creating a hegemony in the 12th century, which led to a unification of the kingdoms into the Kingdom of Azmara in 1238.

The newly unified Azmara, led by King Eryk I, was largely a feudal society focused on agriculture for the next few centuries. However, due to changes in the population as more people started moving about and feudalism declined, a merchant class grew starting in the 16th century, and more power started being concentrated in the hands of the King.

This annoyed the nobility, who were concerned about their lack of power, and the merchants opposed the more protectionist policies of the royal family, wishing to be able to freely pursue exports. Therefore, tensions between those who supported the King and those who supported the nobility and merchants grew, eventually culminating in the uprising of 1622. This saw a civil war break out between monarchists and republicans, with the republicans brutally murdering the royal family at the end. Thus, the Azmaran Confederation was founded, a highly decentralised state ruled by merchants and nobility and governed by the Landsmot, a gathering of prominent noble families and merchants.

This is widely seen as a prosperous time, with Azmara's wealth soaring and the nation trading with many far-flung nations, bringing new goods to the populace. However, the prosperity started to decline towards the end of the 18th century as political gridlock between the various provinces and noble families and merchants led to stagnation, and as Azmaran exports started generating less revenue.

This led to the eventual end of the Confederation in 1815, in which Stefan of Ryksmark, a leading member of the most influential noble house at the time, was almost unanimously declared the King of Azmara in a new constitutional monarchy, with the Landsmot still existing, but the King having strong power over it to maintain stability.

However, this agreement turned out rather unpopular. Stefan I and his son, Stefan II, pursued policies which benefitted the nobility over the merchants and commoners, leading to a growing resentment of the ruling family, especially by many members of the Landsmot.

Therefore, a Second Revolution started growing, with many influential figures such as Jorś Wilhalmsun and Wilhalm Erykssun, who led a revolt of commoners in the capital, Aalmsted, burning down the Landsmot building in protest of their lack of representation. Eventually, news of these revolts spread around the Kingdom, leading to the revolts spreading around the Kingdom, before Stefan II abdicated the throne on 14th February 1848, and a new government being ushered it.

The new government was the most radical Azmara had ever seen, creating a parliamentary democratic republic, with an elected President to serve as figurehead and mediator, and a Prime Minister tasked with the daily runnings of the nation. All men over 21 were given the vote, and the rights to freedom of speech, expression and assembly.

However, the first election saw a split in the republican movement. While Jorś Wilhalmsun and Aansgaar Erykssun had fought side by side in the revolution, they eventually started conflicting over the nature of the new nation. Jorś wanted a laissez-faire society informed by Sotirian social teaching, and a decentralised state, while Aansgaar wanted a centralised state with strongly enforced secularism and property rights as well as universal education. Jorś's followers came to be known as Jorśites, while Aansgaar's followers came to be known as Forþgaaners.

The Forþgaaners commanded dominance over the first few legislatures, however the Jorśites were a force to be reckoned with, and the two factions bitterly fought elections against each other for the rest of the century. New ideas and policies came into play at the dawn of the 20th century, such as trade unionism, socialism and women's rights, with the trade union movement forming the Arbeiderpartii to represent themselves in 1898, and women getting the vote in 1906. The two main forces had rebranded themselves, with the Jorśites forming the Sortiren Folksrâgelen party and the Forþgaaners forming the Gyldflam party.

However, a realignment of the political situation would happen in 1921, as the Arbeiderpartii defeated both of the other parties, and formed a government with dissident members of Gyldflam. These new members rebranded themselves as Radikaalen. Over the 20th century, these four parties dominated the political process, forming numerous coalition governments and adopting reforms such as the establishment of the welfare state and strong labour rights. All four parties generally accepted these positions, however in 1978 a neoliberal government led by Gyldflam took over, introducing wide-ranging economic reforms, with Gyldflam ruling for 15 years. Increasing social liberalism and alternative political movements saw the legalisation of same-sex unions and the liberalisation of abortion towards the end of this, however the government was defeated by a more centrist Arbeiderpartii which continued the neoliberalism, however introducing more socially liberal reforms, especially in the grand coalition seen at the dawn of the new millenia.

Centrist and moderate left governments took over during the 2000s, but achieved little among increasing anti-immigration sentiment. A controversial centre-right government with support from the anti-immigration People's Party ruled 2011-2014, but was ousted by a more liberal centre-right government after Radikaalen agreed to support the government. However, a major political upset happened as the anti-neoliberal Eryk Jorśsun takes power running a left-wing government in 2017, promising to reverse many austerity and privatisation measures.
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Same-sex marriage is legal and anti-discrimination protections exist. Society is generally accepting of LGBT individuals.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: They are tolerated, although some scapegoat against minority religions.
  • General population's view on atheism: A decreasing influence of Sotirianism has seen more accepting attitudes towards atheism.
  • General population's view on abortion: It is legal with a doctor's consent for 24 weeks, and there is large support for this current law.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Might be some scapegoating, but generally accepting.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Not particularly.
  • View on immigration into country: While there is anti-immigration sentiment, Azmara generally has rather open borders.
  • Women's Rights: Women have complete legal equality and there are high levels of social equality between genders.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Alcohol is readily available, and while tobacco is frowned upon, it is legal. Soft drugs have been decriminalised, and the government has proposed full legalisation of marijuana.

National information
Official Name: Rightly Guided State of Jhakira (Jhakiri: ঝাকিরা সৎপথে রাষ্ট্র, tr. Jhākarēra Saṯpathē Rāṣṭra)
Shortened Name: Jhakira (Jhakiri: ঞ্হ্আকার্আ, tr. Jhākarā)
Requested Location: Around the Bay of Bashurat.
RP Population: 126,000,000
Culture: The modern Jhakiri culture can be seen as a synthesis of the Jhakiri majority and the Invastu conquerors who subjugated the area historically. The local Sadirsa religion has played a key role in this synthesis, facilitating the merger of the two groups and their now-interwoven faiths and culture, and is largely seen itself as a syncretisation of Krishinava, Shenism and Satyism (the local religions) and Mazdaism (the religion of the conquerors).
Government Type: Unitary parliamentary semi-constitutional theocratic monarchy
Head of State: Mahaguru Ishkar Arka Singh
Head of Government: Mahatma Ajit Gopal Chowdhury (Elected head of government), Acharya Ramesh Nath Lohani (Speaker of the legislature), Pandit Trishana Brahmananda (Chief Jusice)
National Overview: Jhakiri government is centred around the Mahaguru. The Mahaguru is elected by the Gurugupta (a council of Gurus) from among a number of hereditary candidates who can trace their lineage back to Guru Indranil Anik Manwar, the first Guru. The Mahaguru has executive power, control of the armed forces and a high degree of personal power. The Mahatma is the head of government. The position is nominally elected, however, the Mahaguru reserves the right to overrule the election for Mahatma and to instead appoint his own candidate. To do so, however, is considered poor taste. The Mahatma is required to, alongside the Acharya, maintain discipline in the Consultative Sabha, the country's unicameral legislature. Members of the CS are elected by nationwide vote, from a list of approved parties. A number of seats in the CS are reserved for candidates from religious and ethnic minorities. The Pandit is appointed by the Mahaguru, and acts as head of the judicial system. In terms of foreign policy, Jhakira is hope to a sizable pan-Hyndic movement, and works with it's allies in the region to combat perceived or real eastern Euclean influence.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality is generally viewed with distrust, owing to it's perceived connection to Euclean influences, but is not inherently disliked. Generally, however, members of the LGB community tend to have to work harder to earn the respect of their contemporaries than their heterosexual counterparts. Somewhat contrary to this, transexuals have a special place in Jhakari culture, and are classified as a separate, third gender. According to an ancient custom, transsexuals have unlimited employment opportunities as tax collectors. Due to this cultural normalisation, transexuals in Jhakira are often treated comparatively better by the powers that be in Jhakira than they are in Euclea.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Although the Rightly Guided State holds Sadirsa as it's sole official religion, it has had a coloured religious history. The region has been under the influence of most major religions over the course of history, and the modern minority religions of Krishinava, Mazdaism, Shenism, Satyism, Jyoho, Tulgriism, Salam and Sotirianity are all granted a certain level of rights, and are guaranteed seats in the legislature. Among many people, however, religious fervour can often get the better of them, and tension between the religious minorities can often become incredibly heated. In these cases, the Mahaguru will sometimes offer to step in as mediator.
  • General population's view on atheism: Irreligion is viewed with an inherent loathing that can only be expected from a theocratic society. Generally, it is viewed as a Euclean import, as individuals even not belonging to a mainstream religion are expected to hold some sort of spiritual identity. Due to this, atheists are often loathed and distrusted by society, and are rarely capable of advancing particularly far in society or government.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is generally opposed by the majority of the Jhakiri population, as the Sadirsa faith teaches that life begins at conception, that every life is of equal value and that to take the life of another without due cause is an insult to the creator. As a result, abortion is largely illegal across Jhakara, though recent reforms have slightly liberalised laws, allowing for abortion if the mother or child's life is at serious risk.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Though Jhakiri's make up a majority of the population (72%), there are large minority communities in the country. The largest are the Badluri (10%) and Bagheheti (8%). Generally, the state promotes ethnic unity, particularly between those who share faith, although there has been a consistent history of ethnic tension in the region, dating back to prehistory.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Generally against the irreligious and those perceived to be eastern Euclean; there is also a certain amount of prejudice directed towards foreigners in general. Religions with no major historical presence in the country also tend to be discriminated against, but since almost all of Kylaris' major religions have had a historical presence, this is essentially reserved for pagan religions.
  • View on immigration into country: Migration into Jhakari has been a key aspect of the country's history. In spite of this, many are opposed to increased migration, for common fears such as loss of jobs or cultural differences.
  • Women's Rights: Sadirsa as a religion is noted for it's relatively progressive approach to women's rights. A common belief is that "women hold up the other half of the sky", and this is reflected not only in legal terms but also social views. Legally, women are essentially entirely equal to their male counterparts. They can vote, drive, hold property, and are protected from discriminatory employment practices. Socially, although there is a strong impetus for women to become homemakers, there is little evidence of any structural sexism within society; historically, the biggest roadblocks have been elder women holding back their youngers. The current Pandit, Trishana Brahmananda, is the first woman to hold the position.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Opium, native to the region, plays a relatively important role in the Sadirsa faith and in Jhakiri culture. Usage of the drug is said to 'clear illusion' and allow the user to focus on an alternative view of the creator's masterpiece. Much to the chagrin of Euclea, Jhakira is one of the leading producers of opium. Alcohol and other drugs tend to receive a similar reverence, but not to the same degree.

Official Name: The Kingdom of Mathrabumi
Shortened Name:Mathrabumi
Requested Location: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/ ... laris1.png light orange, I heard you guys were spitting Hyndana
RP Population: 60-80 million I’m thinking
Culture: The culture is based upon the culture of the IRL Indian province of Maharashtra, with similar foods, and clothing. The primary religion is Krishinava, which teaches the way towards salvation is acceptance of the controller who leads us all, Krishin, and his rules and dharma. The faith teaches the only way to leave the corrupt material world is to abandon all vices, follow your path laid by society, and end gratification of the senses. With the state being a theocracy the faith plays a large role people's everyday lives and is taught to children at a young age. The faith has influnced the attitudes of the people to be more humble, and very hardworking, since these triats are seen to be an ends towards salvation. People are very subservient their superiors, and rebellion is looked upon down. Hierarchy plays an important role in the society of Mathrabumi, since superiors are seen as manifestations of Krishin. The primary language is Marathi, which is the lingua franca of the nation, although ethnic minorities have separate languages. Estmereish is the primary language of business and enjoys high prestige in the upper echelons of Mathrabumi society. It is a rather conservative society, since the states ideology is a complete negation of liberalism.
  • Ethnicity: The primary ethnic group is the Marathai group, which makes up 85% of the population. They are an Indo-Aryan group that speaks the Marathi language. There are other ethnic minorities which I will work on with other players in the region.
  • Religion: (What is the dominant religion, if any, in your country? What religious minorities are present?) The dominant religion is as stated before Krishinava, which is based on Hinduism, more specifically the Krishna Consciousness cult. The faith teaches we live in the Age of Kali, in which the material world is corrupted and full of vices. The goal in a person’s life is to be liberated from the cycle of birth and death. This must be done by following Krishin which as per the state’s particular interpretation teaches is represented by the ruling party, The National Krishin Consciousness Society. Salvation is achieved by following your superiors, and abandoning the need for sense gratification. With the modernization elements of Darwinism have been added into the faith, teaching that the people who can accomplish more for the society will see salvation in fewer lives and enjoy better karma.
  • Languages: The primary language is Marathi, the recognized language is Estmereish , more will be added as more people join our India area expands.
Government Type: Neofascist Uniparty Theocracy
Head of State: Guru Sachin Lotalikar
Head of Government: Suraj Apte, Minister of State Affairs
National Overview: Mathrabumi ideology could be described as neofascist in nature, with it’s reactionary tendencies of wanting to emulate the Hindu kingdoms of old, traditional social policies, authoritarian state policy, and corporatist economic policy. The religion plays an important role in terms of the state’s actual thinking and philosophy, but not the structure, since Krishinava doesn’t define one. The economy is run according to the lines of corporatism, with collaboration between state, business, and state owned unions to plan economic policy. In more recent years the state institutions have grown more interested in the ideas of Dark Enlighenment, and has now let businesses acquire stake in the National Development Society, and the National Society for Finance.

In terms of the economy it is rather developed with a GDP p/c of 15k-20k, with sky high inequality. State companies dominate the finance, chemical, steel, energy, and telecom sectors, with private companies dominant in the rest. The population is mostly urban in the countries massive cities. The economy is orientated around manufacturing, with a growing service sector.

The state is cooperative towards Western countries, and allows them to have free reign to do business and trying to maintain friendly relationships.
Social views: The social views are rather conservative, the population believes in a strong nuclear family, women are seen as below their men, and must follow them for salvation, and societal conformity is encouraged.
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: No opinion, but the state doesn’t tolerate expressions of gay pride or gay culture.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The people don’t see the faith as a religion per say, more as an expression of the eternal nature of the world which cannot be changed. As such other faiths are seen as having the same character as the primary faith and tolerated.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is seen as a rejection of the spiritual world, and atheists can be jailed, and will be ostracized from general society by the population.
  • General population's view on abortion: An abortion is seen as a termination of ones karma, and as such is seen as improper and banned by the state.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Racism is looked down upon, as the state tries to emphasize the oneness of all peoples under Krishin. Some groups of people may have racist views, especially against Africans and Europeans. Public displays of racism can lead to jail time.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Not really
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is seen as fine by the state, but anti immigrant sentiments are building within the general population.
  • Women's Rights: Women are seen as a manifestation of the “feminine” forces of the world, which must follow their man to achieve salvation. Women are under the power of their male guardians, and following them is a required by law. Feminist movements are suppressed in the country, having to go underground. Even with the poor female rights there are no female dress code requirements, but most women dress modestly. Most womrn in the country stay in the house, but in more recent years women have been joining the workforce.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: All drugs are seen as a vice to fulfill the senses, and thus are looked down upon. Alchol and tobacco are legal, but consumed in secrecy. Other drugs are illegal and you can get a heavy sentence for consuming them.

The Esotanan Plane landed gracefully on the tarmac on the airport of Berlin, from a short flight of a few hours. The plane maneuvered it's way towards a convoy of limos. Paul Austerlitz signaled for the delegation to make their welcomes. In the delegation was Paul Austerlitz, the Primer of Esotana, Artem Adamovych Stepanenko, the Foreign Minister, several diplomats and several media staff to ask questions. A rather small delegation had attended but the address was extremely important. The Primer was a rather tall German man, with orange hair, pale but aging skin, a black suit with an Esotanan flag pin, and some brownline glasses. His colleague had gray hair and was rather bloated. He wore a similar suit with a pin. The media staff wore jackets and more causal wear.

The Primer waved to the cameras, gracefully and walked over to a podium set for him. He came to a podium set for him and waved to the cameras. "Hello Comrades, Free Men and Women of Sunalaya. I come here to our socialist comrades in Kiez to welcome in new policies and discuss the future of the socialist bloc. A great beacon of socialism has been slain with the fall of the USJR but we must not stop, we must carry on in solidarity! Our Kiezan comrades must be very well the effects of revisionism and corruption in the party, and all comrades in Sunalaya. Another key threat is the encirclement by the now united VU and Ophioneus, superstates created as the bourgeriose attempts to access more markets. We must form a united front with all nations regardless of ideology to confront these super states, if we want to protect our nation". After the brief speech the delegation saluted to the internationale, and boarded a dark black limo and drove towards the main event.

Most of the delegation was young reporters, this being their first international meeting. "So Yana, Anteia, and Nikolos excited for your first event? And such an important one, as well?", they nodded with excitement. Paul was rather anxious, with the collapse of the USJR a pivot was bound to happen, and debate in the party was heated and growing. This meeting would play an important role in setting that pivot, whatever it was.

"Paul, calm down, it will be fine. It's not like we're the one collapsing."

"Yes, but soon it could, you've heard the rumors of potential counter revolution and all the instability in Kiez. Once Kiez is gone, we'd be alone in Ventismar."

Artem thought for a second, appearing more tense.

"Paul, don't trouble yourself with such thoughts. They are just rumors, most likely false. Kiez won't fall, I assure you."

They reached the building where the State of the Union was being hosted and entered in. Paul asked to meet the nearest Kiezan representative, Artem walked towards Ymira.

National information
Official Name: του γείτονα θάσσα (Tu Yitona Thassa) or "Neighbor of the Sea" in translation.
Shortened Name: οι κομποί (i kʰombi) or "The knot" in slang. There is no official short name, but people say α σίντα (a shinda) meaning "root", α τσέα (a tsea) meaning "home", and α μάτη (a mati) meaning "mother".
SIDE NOTE: The English name is currently undecided but I'm hovering around "Combia" or, as one person suggested in Discord, "Thassania".
Requested Location: That lovely coastal strip near Etruria
RP Population:I honestly have no idea, probably 30-50 mil? 10-15 mil?
Culture: The culture of The Knot is defined as a few cultures which speak the IRL Hellenic languages. The dominant form is the Tsakonian group, although "standard" Greek speakers exist as well. The Tsakonians dominate in the coastal cities, while Greek speakers make up the cities further inland. Traditional Pontic-speaking shepherds roam the hinterlands. There also exists a Dalmatian-speaking minority in the southern regions of the country and near to the Etrurian border.
  • Ethnicity: There are four primary ethnic groups in the country. The first are !Tsakonians, the second are !Greeks, the third are the !Pontics, the fourth are the !Dalmatians and all are generally believed to be separate, but closely related, peoples.
  • Religion: The country is religiously a mess, with the !Dalmatians being devout Catholics, the !Greeks being contrarily Episimialist. The !Pontics tend to straddle the line, following either form of Sotirianism with loads of "saints" that are thinly veiled analogues for ancient deities and, sometimes, dropping any pretense of Sotirianism and openly declaring themselves pagans. The Tsakonian religious legacy is highly cosmopolitan, and until further notice and depending on subsequent lore does not yet have a defined majority of any sort.
  • Languages: Tsakonian is the language of the government, although all citizens are given a working knowledge in Dalmatian. Greek and Pontic are generally used locally and, although the government does not discourage or prevent local use, does not provide any official support for them either. Street signs and schools can be instructed in them, but state tests are administered in Tsakonian.
Government Type: Monarchy but under the guise of a People's military government
Head of State: Αἰκατερίνα Μαλακός (Aikaterina [Catherine] Malakos), queen and top general
Head of Government: Οδυσσέας Ετσειρίδης (Odysseas [Odysseus] Etseirides), speaker of parliament and general
National Overview: Khombic society is dominated by the queen, who also acts as a general and a popular leader. Due to this facade of demotic leadership, society is fairly militarized- despite this, many people live generally happy lives surrounding by a flourishing culture. Paranoia surrounding nearby Etruria is high, and debates rage throughout the parliament about whether to align more with the AES to remove the option for an Etrurian strike, while another faction argues in favor of further integration within EC, of which it is a loose member, in order to build a proper defense network and avoid "becoming an Etrurian puppet". The tension between Catherine and Odysseus mirrors this, with the two frequently making power plays against one another. Catherine's monarchical leadership is definite, but the ambition of Odysseus and his popularity with the hinterland !Dalmatians and !Pontics, as well as his well-earned generalship, both provide him much political clout to the chagrin of the loyalist royalists.

The government is a precarious balancing act between the Militarists and the Royalists. The Militarists, lead by General Odysseus, are kept in check by several factors- firstly, the primacy of the queen in military hierarchy; secondly- the honor-shame culture that permeates society prevents either side from wanting to take the first shot, and deeply obligates the radical traditionalist Odysseus to the queen's command regardless of his personal belief; thirdly- the openness of parliament to popular election means that risky moves could upset the balance in favor of the opposing faction; fourthly- the queen's ability to veto but not to automatically pass means that she cannot make rapid power grabs of her own, but can prevent the opposing Militarists from doing so.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: The views of homosexuality take on a classical tone across most of the region. Male "tops" and female "bottoms" are viewed with societal approval, while their inverse roles are generally frowned upon. Homosexuality itself is legal, but homosexual marriage is not recognized by the central government. The Royalists are in favor of advancing LGBT rights in line with EC expectations, while the Militarists are generally against it in favor of tradition and their alignment with AES. The !Dalmatians take a unique outlook on the matter and consider homosexuality acceptable so long as it remains entirely within the private sphere- the moment it goes public it is to be shunned.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The cosmopolitan nature of the region has enforced a general rule of tolerance between religions, although tensions along sectarian lines do exist. Generally, free change of religion between the popular ones is accepted, and not paid much mind, but sects and religions considered "foreign" are frowned upon and conversions to them can lead, in extreme cases, to societal shunning. The state supports Sotirian beliefs officially, but provides tax exemptions to the establishments of ancient religion as well.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is greatly frowned upon in general society and will often lead to shunning, a sort of public excommunication. Violence against Atheists is rare, but non-systematic discrimination is absolutely present.
  • General population's view on abortion: The view of abortion changes from group to group. The Catholics tend to follow the Pope's opinions, while other Sotirians tend to be in favor of it. The shepherds are staunchly against it under nearly any circumstance.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Foreigners are viewed with suspicion to an extent, but not open hostility. There exists a sense of national pride across both Royalist and Militarist factions that tends to present The Knot as better than other countries, but rhetoric does not actively deride other nations. A general sense of unity is found between the four ethnic groups of the country, so that even the !Dalmatians are viewed as being simply "Solarized" versions of the greater civilization present in the region, rather than an entirely distinct populace.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation See "homosexuality" and "foreigners" above
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is made intentionally difficult, and certain foreign ethnic groups are viewed as dangerous. Oddly enough, Amathians are considered a "valuable" people and are one of the few groups to be given exceptions to the otherwise strict rules.
  • Women's Rights: Women are given full rights in society, including military participation. However, in certain communities, traditional roles are emphasized despite this situation. !Tsakonians and !Dalmatians generally have the highest rates of equal societal treatment in the country.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Alcohol, particularly wine, is viewed very benevolently by society, although drunkenness is considered highly shameful. Marijuana is legal, but public consumption is considered a faux pas. Other drugs, including tobacco, are heavily restricted and regulated, largely being used in medicines where possible, and tobacco consumption being legal only through a very thorough vetting process intended to dissuade anyone but the desperate from partaking.

Postby Transtsabaran Federation » Tue Jul 03, 2018 3:50 pm

National information
Official Name: The Transtsabaran Federation
Shortened Name: Tsabara
Requested Location: Asafiyah’s plot
Culture: No one culture or ethnic group has a majority in Tsabara. The largest group by plurality ar the Badawiyans, making up 42% of the population. The second largest group is the Atudites, native to the Adunis province, who are 34% of the population. Tensions between the two groups are high and have been historically. There are also a host of ethnic minorities present in the country, see below for a breakdown. Salam is the majority religion, but Atuditism is the second largest. Both are a powerful political force in the country and religious tensions are similar to ethnic tensions and usually on the same lines.
  • Ethnicity: Badawiyan (42%), Atudite (34%), Öroqic (7% - Khataghic/Turkic group), Suhalan (5% - Tunisian-Romance conlang), Drapeuntes (4% - Pied-Noirs), Gaiban (3% - Dom/Nawar), Larsam (3%), Den (2%)
  • Religion: Sharply divided. Majority Salam, followed by Atudism. Some Sotirianity and others. See gdoc linked below for specific break down.
  • Languages: Badawiyan is the most widely spoken language followed by !Hebrew. Other languages exist corresponding with each ethnic minority.
Government Type: Consociational federal republic with a democratically elected (bicameral or unicameral?) legislature
Head of State: President Atwan al-Tughluq
Head of Government: Premier Furqaan el-Hashmi
National Overview: Tsabara is the Holy Land for the three Abrahamic faiths: Sotirianity, Salam, and Atudism. It has been the center of cross-continental exchange and conflict for centuries. It was colonized by Gaullica in the 19th century and the coastal regions saw significant integration into Gaullica. It was granted independence after the Great War after being awarded as a mandate to Estmere, which set up a republic run by the Drapeuntes and Atudites. The early frameworks of an apartheid state were set up. Badawiyans and other ethnic minorities were de facto second class citizens who had minimal access to voting rights and government services. This government collapsed following invasion by Etruria during the Solarian War and was replaced by a weak CN-backed government. This new government succumbed to a ‘socialist revolution’ after a group of young military officers organized a coup and seized power. This triggered a civil war that eventually transitioned to a lasting low-intensity conflict until the socialist government collapsed in the 1990s. New secular, democratic federation was established (with initial domination by post-regime elites) that was highly skeptical of religion and the military. Initially set up as a consociational federation that has been reformed by Atwan al-Tughluq. al-Tughluq and his broad coalition of Salamic parties came to power in 2005 and he has led the country since. After serving the three terms allowed by the constitution as premier, he moved to reform the executive from a ceremonial presidency and an executive prime minister to mimic the French presidential system. The post of premier remains but it is a weakened post, appointed by the President to carry out the day to day functions and oversee cabinet operations. Transition from a consocietal republic to a presidential republic is currently underway. al-Tughluq has a parliamentary majority making it De facto majoritarian as the co-societal aspects don't kick in properly in the legislature. The Supreme Court is also in the process of being stacked/undermined, further weakening to consocietal nature of the federation. Former strict and widely enforced policy of secularism that was repealed once al-Tughluq was elected (with the support of the majority of Mumins and promising to wipe away the old elite). Institutions are under the process of restructuring and are very weak as a result.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: More urban populations of the Drapeuntes and Atudites are more accepting of homosexuality, but generally it is viewed as immoral and is not tolerated. Homosexuality was decriminalized in the penal code established after the democratic transition. It has not been fully recriminalized, but anti-gay laws similar to those in Russia enacted by Putin have been implemented by al-Tughluq. In rural parts of the country it is not uncommon for (suspected) homosexuals to be killed.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Very divided and polarized. Religion is a major issue and has consistently undermined cooperation between the communities. The strict policy of secularism was implemented to combat this, but al-Tughluq has repealed this policy and religious tensions are reaching new highs
  • General population's view on atheism: The more devout members of Salam and Atudism reject atheism, while more secular members remain largely apathetic. Atheism is not widespread.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion remains illegal and is widely unpopular.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Very visible ethnic divisions in society. Traditionally divided ethnic groups have been unified under the All-Mumim Union, however. Divisions remain elsewhere, and ethnic divisions tend to coincide with religious divisions.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Each group is traditionally reluctant to trust the others. However, different ethnic groups that all practice Salam have come together and formed a strong political block. Atudites generally favor non-Mumins but remain hesitant of the other groups as well.
  • View on immigration into country: Each group is skeptical of migration from similar groups to their rivals. Atudites are skeptical of migration from Badawiyan and Mumin countries, Badawiyans and Mumims are skeptical of migration of Atudites.
  • Women's Rights: Women have been enfrancised since the establishment of the first republic post-1935. Few reproductive rights. Right to divorce but this is often undermined by deeply religious judges
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: While alcohol is legal, it is strongly discouraged by the government and its more traditional Salamic backers. There is a push for its prohibition but it has not yet materialized, just strong social pressure against drinking. It is not uncommon for mobs to ransack bars, destroying alcohol and physically assaulting employees. Marijuana and other recreational drugs are all criminalized. Tobacco and hookah are both legal and commonly used but their use is increasingly frowned upon by the government. An ongoing anti-smoking campaign is underway under the guise of improving public health, but the campaign and the Minister of Health responsible have visible religious motives.

National information
Official Name: Federal Union of the Xuoprivan People's Republic and the Free Territories

RP Population: 62 mil
Culture: Xuoprivans are inspired partly by Armenians and Etruscan cultures, but are largely meant to be a conculture.
  • Ethnicity: Composed of various ethnicities. Xuoprivans (appearance-wise similar to Western Europeans) being the dominant ethnic group. Large Slavic and Western Euclean (latter likely being most constructed cultures) populations
  • Religion: Yet to be decided. Large Solarian minorities
  • Languages: Xuoprivan (planned conlang and isolated, but inspired primarily by Proto-Armenian, Proto-Anatolian and Tocharian)

The state is governed primarily by a singular political party that dominates the national legislature, in which intra-party factions and democratic elections do occur. Public scientific institutes, organisations and intellectual guilds play a greater role in the governance of the nation (usually in the form of executive consultative committees) and the revision of proposed laws. Axgorist Economics advocates for a Dirigist Economy, Neomercantilism and Protectionist Policies.

  • General population's view on atheism: Openly accepted
  • General population's view on abortion: Largely illegal. The abortion of children that are the product of rape is legal and the abortion of birth defects and/or children that are the offspring of one of two people with some genetic disability or recessive trait is mandatory
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Most ethnicities and races are treated relatively well.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: A handful of ethnic groups are discriminated against for varilus historical reasons
  • View on immigration into country: The immigration of workers, students and pregnant women is largely welcomed. Refugees and Asylum seekers don't often receive the same treatment and are seen in a somewhat negative light
  • Women's Rights: Women are treated as complete equals
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Alcohol is legal but there's usually a sin tax on it. Smoking and Tabacco is largely illegal. Most drugs are illegal.

National information
Official Name: The Republic of Auxarckes.
Shortened Name: Auxarckes.
Requested Location: In the area between Cheonghae and Mathrabumi, along the coast with a moderate amount of hinterland.
RP Population: 71,322,912 according to a 2016 census.
Culture:
  • Ethnicity: There are two major ethnicities, alongside a number of smaller ones. The largest would be the Kiitans, who are in part inspired by Mongols, Jurchens, and Koreans. The other major ethnicity in the nation are the Metisie, the term used for the sizable minority of the population that is the result of Franco-Kiitan interbreeding; they tend to be bilingual and are generally in advantageous social positions. The third important and influential ethnicity are the Chroniques, which are the ethnic Gallo-French settlers, merchants, and soldiers that refused to leave the country following the colonial administration’s withdrawal.
  • Religion: A number of religions are present in the country. The Catholic Church (if that’s a thing in Kylaris) has considerable influence, especially among the Chroniques and the Metisie. Buddhism and Daoism tend to be popular among the native populace, but are quietly repressed by the government. Lumiena, a religious philosophy put down by the late dictator (in all but name) Charles David de les Rivieres, is also followed by many of the Metisie and has the official support of the state.
  • Languages: The two primary languages of the country are Kiitanic and Franco-Gallic. Both are recognized as national languages but the administration officially uses Franco-Gallic.
Government Type: Normally, it’s a form of government where one’s democratic enfranchisement is based off of their education. If one isn’t educated, they don’t get a say in the government. However, the military has stepped in to attempt to restabilize the country following the death of de les Rivieres.
Head of State: The closest thing to a head of state would be Louis-Marie de la Roche, the unofficial leader of the Golden Sun Clique and Field Marshall of XXX after Francis Metisette’s government invited the military to implement martial law following the Twenty Eight Days Riot.
Head of Government: The head of government is Jhang Hyeone, General of Army Group East and another member of the Golden Sun Clique. He’s one of only three ethnic Kiitan officers to be included in the military’s administration.
National Overview: The nation’s current administration is shaped by the national crisis that it is facing. Popular discontent, especially in the rural areas, regarding the social and economic issues that have been plaguing the state ever since decolonization have recently adopted a far-left wing tinge and disillusioned peasants have begun to organize around the radical reformer Wvong Jixzi. After a large-scale protest in a rural village turned into a riot, then massacre, as police fired into the crowd, the civilian government under Metisette invited de la Roche into power in order to counter the growing tide of dissent.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Depends on where you go. Rural communities tend to hold more traditional views on the subject, whereas the four large metropolitan centers of the nation generally hold more favourable views.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: There is no “primary” religion, not officially, though the state-sponsored Lumiena belief system tends to be favoured more than others. However, the state officially supports a pluralist ideology where no religion is paramount and all are equal to compete. Unofficially, Daoism and especially Buddhism are associated with the “uncultured” peasants and rural communities that have little-to-no French heritage, and are generally frowned upon.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is generally frowned upon, and the concept isn’t exactly prevalent in the fairly traditional social atmosphere of the nation.
  • General population's view on abortion: See above. It’s not technically illegal in many circumstances, so long as a valid reason is provided.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Racial tensions are the most prevalent issues in the nation. The large social, economic, and political disparity between the French Chroniques, the mixed Metisie, and the Asiatic Kiitan peoples is the primary reason behind the rising discontent in the rural communities in the nation. Prior to martial law, only those with a valid and completed secondary education could vote, which effectively disenfranchised nearly 60% of the country, the overwhelming majority being pure-blooded Kiitans from farming and plantation communities. Many of the Chroniques and Metisie are reluctant to grant the Kiitans full citizenship akin to their own as they would be effectively wiped out as a political demographic force.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: There is a heavy anti-Buddhist, anti-Kiitan bias among the ruling and empowered classes of the nation due to the importance of “keeping them down” in order to maintain their own semblance of power.
  • View on immigration into country: The nation has always been a melting pot, though not much immigration is seen these days.
  • Women's Rights: Women are treated as equals, for the most part.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Alcoholism and opioid abuses are endemic among many rural communities, and both Wvong Jixzi and the central government are interested in limiting it, though not via legislation.

Other:
  • Factbook: Don’t have one yet/

  • RP Samples: I could dig some stuff up if you really need me to, but I’m pretty sure people could vouch for me.

  • Anything else?:
Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

  • General population's view on atheism: Frowned upon by most, although no laws against it.
  • General population's view on abortion: Heavily immoral and laws permit only life endangerment as the sole acceptable reason for a legal abortion. Seen as baby murder by populace.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There are nationalist and racist groups although the racial diversity in the nation causes both conflict and ethnic unity.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Not really. Communism and heavy foreign influences are very unappreciated.
  • View on immigration into country: Although previously indifferent, some are now relatively successfully campaigning against immigration
  • Women's Rights: Equal, although company's rights are accepted too. This is a matter of debate in Vasreauxin currently.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:Tobacco is seen as unhealthy although using a good ole pipe is seen as acceptable
Alcohol is a treasure of Vasreauxin, with wine and beer being a big industry.
Marijuana is illegal, due to health risks and use in gang activity

Head of State: President Lúcia Machado Cordeiro
Head of Government: President Lúcia Machado Cordeiro

Major Power Status: No
  • Predominant Ideology of the Power: Moreira is governed by a left-wing government, as such it will seek out close fraternal ties with Marirana, San Luca and if possible following elections, Niemear.
  • “Bloc Name”: ADC
  • Foreign Policy Ambitions of the Power: Pan-Asterian (minus the Fed), opposing Fed involvement and influence over its southern neighbours and a key advocate for south-south cooperation and collaboration among developing states, especially those in southern Asteria Superior and Asteria Inferior.
  • GDP Per Capita: $12,642
  • Percentage of GDP spent on Military: 2.7% ($9.79bn)
  • Capability to Project Power: Exceptionally limited to coastal regions and its immediate borders, though Moreira’s hope for a security agreement with Marirana, San Luca and Niemear (in the event of Mozes Koeaara securing victory)

History Post the Great War and a Summary of Previous Events: pre-GW history will require close work with the Fed, Mari and Duquesne.

For the GW the current idea is to side with Gaullica and Mari and aid in the invasion of the north, however owing to incompetence, Morerian forces collapse, allowing the Fed to invade Moreira near unopposed, fearing occupation, the country switches sides and turns on its former allies.

During the first half of the 20th century, the unrest in the countryside reached the cities through left-wing parties and a nascent trade union movement. Agitation over land-ownership culminated in the Selva Crisis, when landless workers seized plantations and demanded land reform, the army was deployed and crushed the workers. This led to intermittent military dictatorships. From 1964 however, Moreira saw the emergence of democratic governance. Economic shocks and corruption scandals in the 1980s and 1990s led to several political crises, including the deadly Década de Sangue (1981-1991), two attempted coups in 1991 and 1993, and the assassination of President Elísio de Figueiredo in 1994. A collapse in confidence in the existing parties saw the 1999 election of the United People's Socialist Party under retired army officer, Jair Passos de Albergaria in a minority government. The failure to pass a budget resulted in the return of centre-right government in 2001. Further scandals and rising income inequality would result in a second victory for Albergaria and his PSPU party with a majority in the legislature, however, João Aguiar's refusal to hand over power, citing irregularities in the countryside, led to the Second Revolution and his overthrow in 2009. Albergaria instituted the Revolution of Popular Renewal, rewritting the constitution, which officially renamed Moreira to the República Popular de Moreira (Popular Republic of Moreira). In 2012 he was shot dead by a right-wing police officer and was succeeded by his Vice President, Lúcia Machado Cordeiro.

"Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: The ruling PSPU government introduced gay marriage in 2013, with continued efforts at legal and constitutional protections.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Open and tolerant.
  • General population's view on atheism: Lingering resistance among the traditional Catholic Right of society, though generally speaking Moreira religiously is open and tolerant.
  • General population's view on abortion: Mixed, while women are granted the right to utilise them, there remains a stigma and opposition especially within the poor working class and traditionalists in the middle class.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Moreira’s unique ethnic-make up and the efforts of the PSPU to embrace the “multi-coloured coalition” has seen division and racism rapidly decline. The PSPU’s reforms ending racial discrimination have been considered a success.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation There’s an inherent anti-Fed stream through Morerian society that is found in all classes, though primarily the working class. This is aided in part by the PSPU painting the right-wing opposition as agents of the Fed’s desire to retain its hegemonic presence over southern Asteria Superior - whether true or not.
  • View on immigration into country: Owing to Morerian’s tolerance and openness to all races, it is actively encouraged by the PSPU government as a means of gaining new talent, expanding the population and economy.
  • Women's Rights: Moreira has extensive laws under the PSPU elevating the rights of women, including set quotas for female politicians at the local and national level, mandatory equal pay and protections for maternity leave.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
" Moreira like Marirana hosts a burgeoning narcotics industry, though recently under pressure from the left-wing government. Tobacco, a key produce of the country is not viewed negatively, leading to an above average rate of cancer sufferers, marijuana however is viewed somewhat negatively by the working and middle classes and there is active efforts to stamp its useage out. Cocaine is viewed mostly negatively owing to its causing of organised crime, yet many in the poorest rural regions and the favelas view it as the Ouro Branco (White Gold), which enables them a significant income, the PSPU government has attempted to offset this with an improved welfare system and state-led training programs to lift the slum dwellers into formal employment.

National information
Official Name: Republic of Vilcasuamanas (Vilkashuamanos Respublika)
Shortened Name: Vilcasuamanas
Requested Location: Spot in between Nimear and Alagarve
RP Population: 14,000,000
Culture: Vilcasuamanian culture is a unique mix between the northern Euclean culture of Ruttland and of the indigenous customs of native civilizations such as the Ounkai, Amaru, and others. This is visible in all aspects of national society, from cuisine to art and literary traditions.
  • Ethnicity: Ethnically, Vilcasuamanas is divided between whites (making up 23% of the population), indigenous people (12%), mixed-race Mišrus (54%), and blacks (10%). Whites have historically been dominant in politics and economics; however this has begun to shift in recent years.
  • Religion: Vilcasuamanas is majority Sotirian (89% percent of the population); an overwhelming majority of this percentage in Solarian Catholic. Catholicism is nearly omnipresent in Vilcasuamanian society, art, and culture; despite this, Evangelical Amendism and irreligion are both on the rise.
  • Languages: Ruttish is the official language, used in all spheres of society; Vilcasuamanian Ruttish shares some minor difference with the Euclean standard, with a significant number of indigenous loanwords. Indigenous languages are also spoken in some rural areas.
Government Type: Constitutional presidential republic under a unitary system
Head of State: President Vytautas Kaparauskas, of the Civic Renewal Party (PAP)
Head of Government: President Vytautas Kaparauskas (PAP)
National Overview: Prior to the Euclean discovery of the Asterias, the area known as modern day Vilcasuamanas was dominated by numerous Asterindian tribes and civilizations. These civilizations developed extensive agricultural societies, the largest of which grew into the Ounka Empire, which dominated the high plains of the interior in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Despite previous limited contact with Eucleans, the foundation of the country was set with the establishment of a Ruttish Asterian Company fort at the mouth of the Kajapas River in 1587. The Ruttish eventually organized a plantation system, worked by Indians initially and later by African slave labor; by the mid-1600s, largely-inflated gold discoveries had spurred immigration en masse to the colony. Vilcasuamanas (renamed from New Ruttland in 1696) changed boundaries multiple times during its early history, largely due to competing settler claims and Euclean conflicts. By the Pereramonic Wars, it had become clear that Ruttland's hold on it's colony was tenuous at best. Tensions between the colony and the mother country grew steadily throughout the 18th century, with native planters vying with overseas merchants and administrators for control. By the 1750s, tensions had reached a boiling point; spark was set off by the retreat of much of the Ruttish aristocracy to Vilcasuamanas during the Weranian Revolution. The new Euclean administration, viewed as out of touch with the realities of Asteria Inferior, cracked down on dissent, leading the planters overthrowing the colonial adminstration and declaring a republic. This led to a long and bloody independence war, which was only ended with the withdrawal of Ruttish troops after the culmination of the revolution in Werania.

Despite victory, the newly-independent republic maintained many of the colonial social structures and racial laws, which caused strife between the more-conservative federalists (who preferred devolution to the voivodeships and retention of the agricultural system) and the more socially-liberal unitarians (who wanted to concentrate power in the urbanized capital and abolish slavery). This led to several coups d'etat and eventually full-on civil war, which ended with the creation of the Vilcasuamine Confederation in 1868. A second civil war definitively returned the country to a unitary structure, though this did not prevent further instability throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This contributed to a string of foreign interventions in the early 20th century that further undermined the government. Eventually this culminated in the rise of strongman General Mauricijus Sprogys to power in the 1960s,. Though Sprogys was credited with revitalizing a faltering economy and moving from an agricultural to a more industrialized economy, he was also accused of numerous human rights abuses committed to keep himself in power; this led to the rise of several low-intensity insurgencies primarily made up of radicalized functionalists. After his death, however, the new civil government failed to effectively combat the insurgents, leading to lawlessness in many of of Vilcasuamanas' undeveloped voivodeships. Though the government, currently in an economic boom, has made significant strides in eliminating these groups, both insurgency and drug-related violence remains problematic.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: The practice of homosexuality was decriminalized in the early 2000s, with civil unions legalized shortly thereafter. Despite this, the issues of same-sex marriage and same-sex adoption have been repeatedly met with deadlock in the Seimas. There are broad-reaching anti-discrimination laws, however homophobia remains a significant problem, especially in the more conservative areas in the country.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Other Sotirian sects other than Solarian Catholicism are looked on ambivalently (this was not historically the case); same for Vilcasuamanas' small but flourishing Atudaist community. Other religions, particularly Salam and other migrant faiths, are mistrusted to a degree.
  • General population's view on atheism: Mixed across different generations; while younger generations are widely ambivalent about it, older generations are more likely to be hostile to the irreligious.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortions are legal only in the cases of rape, incest, and danger of the mother's life. It is very much a taboo subject and one that has both staunch advocates and fierce detractors.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): With the wide variety of different ethnic groups and mixed race citizens, Vilcasuamanians are largely accepting of all those born within its borders (though certain prejudices still persist).
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Minor ones between the different ethnic groups, but nothing serious enough to cause significant racial tensions.
  • View on immigration into country: Mixed; the few immigrants the country does receive (mostly from Marirana and Asteria Inferior) are accepted so long as they are perceived to "integrate" into society.
  • Women's Rights: Legislation is in place to protect women from serious public and workplace discrimination. However, birth control is tightly regulated and on-demand abortion is criminalized, with no legislation designed specifically to protect gender-blind wages.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are both popular (the high-alcohol degtinė is considered the national drink), and both are largely unregulated. Most other drugs, however, are firmly criminalized, and, in part due to Vilcasuamanas' illicit drug production (and the violence associated with it), are viewed as taboo.
