Oh my god, this is the funniest thing I've seen in the Security Council. This is so ridiculous that even Yuno voted for it, because the SC can't do anything about this except give them a nice badge. I'm voting FOR to hand you a sympathy vote.

My pitch is: its time to invade this unstable regime.

P. S: there's troll votes to for the contrary, both sides want what they want but there's more Against vote.

Full support because a liberation badge next to their name would look quite nice. :p

Today Queen Yuno shall bow down to the revolution and let this day be known as the "Great Liberation Of The East Pacific" and we shall bring Queen Yuno shall be brought to her heels.

not really. In NS, liberation is only to get rid of a password on a region. Besides, TEP is a feederite region, so it wouldn't do anything ;)
But hey, if you want to think of it that way, you may as well. I'm not the one to dictate here.

If I might weigh in on the current proposal at hand, from the perspective of a new player who was dropped in TEP, it is disconcerting and misleading to see the stated bylaws of the TEP allegedly preventing nations from leaving the region without signing up for their (offline) forum and filling out a substantially detailed emigration form, or else face penalty of permanent "loss of rights" in TEP. This may, indeed, be a paper tiger, and readily apparent as such to those who have familiarity and experience with the game system, but at least for me, without any prior experience it was fairly intimidating to receive a telegram from Queen Yuno detailing such things when I left the East Pacific for Lands End. It's not a good way to welcome new nations to the site -- it would be fairly offputting in most scenarios, I think -- and consequently, I had voted FOR the proposal: a symbolic condemnation of Yuno and her loligarchy, as it were.

HOWEVER: After reading discussion within my Region, reading through much of the WA documentation available on the forum, and giving it some thought, I have decided to change my vote to AGAINST: I feel I cannot support this toothless, symbolic condemnation of the East Pacific. If this was a condemnation of Yuno, or even a condemnation of the East Pacific, for such intimidation tactics towards new players, I would, and will if such a resolution is at any point brought to the table of the Security Council, throw my vote behind it, as she is the one responsible for the state of TEP as it is currently seen by new players within NationStates. But these symbolic resolutions of Liberation undermine the purpose of Liberation: to effect actual, lasting change upon Regions. We have a function of symbolically expressing our condemnation towards a Nation or Region: that of Condemnation itself. To use Liberation for symbolic purposes is a misappropriation of the proposal type, and thus, this practice should change, as I am to understand it.

Fully Against.

I just don't support it.
And why do we need to liberate regions 5 times a week

Liberation votes last 4 days, so we can't really liberate 5 regions in a week.

The government of Weednezuela abstains from voting. "Even if the situation seems a little tense in that region, we do not have enough information about that region to set a position, which is why we abstain for now." The president of the Nation said in a press conference.

TNP's viewpoint on this:

Vote recommendation: Against

Why vote against:
Liberate The East Pacific, though well written, would have been better submitted as a condemnation. Liberations remove delegate imposed passwords from a region, however, since The East Pacific is a Game Created Region, a password cannot be imposed, thus making this liberation essentially pointless.

For these reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote against the resolution.

Still gonna vote for this resolution though. :p

Even with TNP's Delegate voting against this, it's still gonna win by about 70-30/75-25%.

I normally don't comment on Security Council matters, but Damn this is the best thing I have seen in years.
So far out of all the votes from TEP, 365 are for and 35 are against.
But the big news is that Queen Yuno has voted for it as well.
Hell, I'm voting for it.
And why?
Because, apparently, someone doesn't like the color PINK.
Yea, I don't like it either because it reminds me of Pepto-Bizmol and Klingon Blood.

The Sultanate of Qrytopia votes against. We are in principle against intervention in the running of other sovereign nations. We urge our compatriots in the assembly to consider the path they are going down. The fact the subject of this resolution has voted for it is more evidence that we should not make them a martyr to their cause. We should not embolden the violent, we should urge upon others the founding principles of the asembly namely communication and peaceful resolution to the issues of the day. Would the Queen not come here to address the concerns raised about her reign, and compromise in their administration under threat of less haughty measures such as sanctions or admonishments?

Well, this proposal is meant for fun, they probably want the badge anyways, besides, it doesn't actually do anything, GCR delegates can't set passwords :P

Ambassador Drane pops his head into the chamber to see what's happening on this side of the World Assembly. "Liberate The East Pacific? What a splendid idea! We need to show those shady characters how much we disapprove of their mere existence by removing their borders and... errr... by threatening to remove their borders when their founder... ummmm... by giving them a nice looking sunshine-shiny badge for them to display heretofore! Yes, that'll learn them! I know it doesn't count for much at this point, but here's another vote in favor."
-- Herbert Jackson Drane IV, WA Ambassador of the newly independent Imperial Polk County, Population 665,000. That "xxx million" population stat? It's most certainly a typo.
