Name: Wendell Farmers
Age: 22
Sex: Male
Faction: FEDRA
Rank: PFC
Desired Roles Rifleman
Appearance:
Image

Personal Belongings: A sack of tobacco and rolling papers, Rosary Beads, picture of his bio, surrogate family, and a pic of Father Allen. Plus a shaving mirror.

Personality: A self-centered smart ass with a morbid sense of humor, but paradoxically is extremely religious. A wicked sense of independence, Wendell has a soft spot for families.

Bio: Wendell was born to CDC paper pushers who lived in the suburbs of Atlanta. Their jobs and their location gave the family an advantage on getting into a quarantine zone. Unfortunately, this came at a price; since just like most who worked in the city were extremely vulnerable to infection. This proved to be Wendell's parents undoing, as they entered the zone they were flagged for infection and executed. Miraculously, Wendell being only 2 years old did not become infected. Without parents, however, Wendell sat teary-eyed, with the blood stains beside him being the last present piece of his parents. In a stroke of luck, a family of 4 was passing him, and taking note of the blood stains and the crying child sitting next to them, put the pieces together and scooped up Wendell and took him with them further into the zone. This family specifically were the Romanos, with the father Mark and the mother Helena, as well as their twin boys the same age as Wendell named Tommy and Andy. The Romanos were a well to do medical family who lived near the city, and their skill was immediately put to use in the zone. Wendell grew up not even knowing the existence of his biological parents until he was told by Mark and Helena at the age of 12, and was given the small number of personal effects that were found on the boy almost a decade earlier, including a wallet and picture. Allowing Wendell to stitch the pieces together on who were his parents were; however like most things in the zone this new found stability was not to last.

At the age of 15, Wendell was experiencing the peak of any normalcy that can be achieved in a quarantine zone. Daily rations, martial law, and the most important thing to Wendell was his surrogate family. But to Wendell, they represented the only thing he knew as family. Though In an eerie repeat, of his parent's death, the Romanos came in contact with the cordyceps virus due to their profession. This became a larger outbreak that killed a number of medical workers in the zone as well as many other civilians. This put Wendell through another parental death, with this coming in a much more devastating blow. However, he was not alone this time. He had his two brothers and was able to fend for himself. Rather than be shipped into a military-style boarding school that doubles as the orphanage; Wendell and his brothers inserted themselves into the local smuggling scene through a mutual acquaintance. They scratched by just barely due to the many dangers out in the field, and like many other smugglers achieved the subtle scorn of FEDRA.

By the age of 18, the trio of brothers had become experienced in excursions beyond the walls. This added to their solitary existence, giving them a cynical if not callous life outlook, as well as unparalleled selfishness; prioritizing the trios safety and gains over everybody else's. Unfortunately, this gave the less than subtle scorn of FEDRA, which for the period of three had the trio aggressively hunted. This culminated in a chase, were Wendell tried to lead the trio out of the compound beyond the walls. However, in the maze-like alleyways the zone was set up in Wendell eventually led the trio into a dead end. As fate would have it though, the only building at the end of the alleyway was a small Catholic church ran by the respected Father Allen. Taking pity on the boys Allen hid them in the church away from FEDRA, and for days preached to them day and night about the error of their ways. Wendell found it maddening threatening to kill the aging man several times, and the most maddening part to him was the fact he couldn't leave as things cooled down in the zone. The Father never let up and wasn't able to gain any leverage until he found Wendell looking through his biological parent's wallet, and the picture of the Romanos. He had found Wendell major moral weakness, which was his family's safety. Allen reasoned that the life he had chosen was the exact thing putting the trio in danger and that it was him and not the military that was causing the most harm to his small family. To cut a long story short, over the course of that year Wendell had more or less a spiritual awakening, becoming a devout Catholic, and spending most of his time at the church with his brothers. But as much of Allen's work wasn't sanctioned or pay for by FEDRA. Allen relied solely on the kindness of his congregation for his ration cards and other supplies. This being unacceptable to the family oriented and independent Wendell, he struck out his own course to pay his own way. With he's swallowed a large amount of pride and joined the FEDRA ranks on his 19th birthday. Working his way through the ranks with the sole goal of providing for his family, Wendell eventually scored a spot in the relatively elite Juliet Squad.

Strengths: Independence, Resourceful, Hardy, and cool under pressure.
Weaknesses: Selfishness, easily angered if family is involved, prone to recklessness when family or close friends are involved, and tobacco addiction.
Likes: Family units, Catholicism, humor, and anything that will score him extra ration cards or privileges.
Dislikes : Zealous authority, overly serious folks, and morally corrupt people
Worst Fears: The death of his brothers and Father Allen. Chronic nightmares about family deaths through his life.
