Per the National Anthem Act 1904, the Gandoorese national anthem is L'Internationale, with the officially recognized lyrics being performed in the original French, despite French not being one of our official languages nor widely spoken in Gandoor.

The lyrics used for our national anthem differ slightly from the original lyrics because the second stanza, which referred to the non-existence of God, was removed to avoid conflict with our nation's separation of church and state.

The primary national anthem is 'My Country, 'Tis of Thee', adopted in 1928 under the Cox administration; a secondary, unofficial anthem is 'Hail Columbia', a song which had been popular in the last century, though the former had gained in popularity following the conclusion of the War of Secession and in the lead-up to the First Great War.

When singing the national anthem or listening to the instrumental, people are required to do the Battle Cry Salute* while military and paramilitary personnel (including retired veterans) are required to do the Zhouranese Military Salute*. It is common to see individuals shed tears during the anthem as a display of emotional connection and spiritual bond to the Zhouranese Motherland & People.

The Battle Cry Salute is a Zhouranese gesture created in late 1861. Although traditionally used for yelling or chanting battle cries, it can also be used as a greeting and as a symbol of solidarity and support. When doing the salute, the right arm is held out forward straight and raised upward at an angle. The index finger and middle finger are both extended upwards while the last two digits are curled downwards against the palm. As for the thumb, it is slightly curled. The use of the three digits symbolizes loyalty, honor and strength.

Created on July 23, 1860, the Zhouranese military salute is performed with a flat hand, with the thumb resting on the index finger, and the head tilted back with chin up. The hand is slightly tilted to the front so that the thumb can not be seen. The upper arm is horizontal and the fingers point to the temple but do not touch it or the headgear.

Why do all national anthems sound so Western?

Like why is the Phrygian Scale never used in anthems of Eastern countries
f.ex, the most beatiful scale of all?
I mean anthems are supposed to express the spirit of a country and nation.
As if it's a rule that all anthems somehow have to sound European?

This is why I personally haven't found a single anthem that I find actually
interesting, seriously, all anthems sound almost the same to me, boring. #MyOpinion

Since my nation is similar in ways to Estonia, I chose an Estonian patriotic song as my nations anthem, called "Ilus Maa""Ilus Maa" or in English, Beautiful land. I wanted it to be a song not focusing too much on war, or on "glory greatness", but just on beauty and pride of the land, and on keeping the land beautiful for those to come.
