ACESTI, The Association of Culture, Education and Science of the Isles, is an international organization meant to promote and protect cultural, scientific, and educational, elements and advancements. It holds and hosts multiple programs to achieve such goals. It serves to promote cultural, educational, and scientific awareness between different nations and promote respect and cooperation and collaboration among such nations.

This is the IC thread for the ACESTI organization. This roleplay takes place in the ACESTI HQ in Nightingale, Townside. This will be the place for formal discussions and decision-making and voting on topics. For any major action to take place, there must be a majority vote. Each nation will have one representative and only one vote. If you're making any formal declarations and/or joinings or leavings, do it here.

[Torom]

A man stands up in front of the many members of the organization in the ACESTI headquarters. His name is Justin Arlov. He opens his mouth and quickly says,"A year has passed since the last election and a new Secretary-General needs to be elected soon. Any of you may choose to nominate yourselves for this position. This will be our main priority before going into any other matter for now. Thank you."

Arlov slips back into his seat a, little bit shaken from standing up to give the announcement. It will take a few minutes to get those initial jitters out from him. However, he tries to remain calm, and waits patiently for what comes next.

[Negarakita]

Sofi stood up abruptly, her experiences in private schooling showing that it was the quick and the dead. A prodigal child, she was always devoted to putting her and her country's interests first and rabidly championing them. By securing such a role she would be able to improve the cultural and diplomatic clout of Negarakita, a nation that thrives off it's connections.

"I would like to announce my candidacy for the role of Secretary General. My career has been based in law, and I have worked very hard to protect the cultural heritage of Negarakita's many varied peoples from the interests of companies. If any of you know my nation, you will realise how Herculean such a task is. Negarakita is a nation with a rich culture, tradition of education and dedication to scientific excellence. I believe that I am the most qualified choice for the position and would be honoured if you would accept me as your Secretary General."

She sat down and idly readjusted her yellow hijab, passing time before the next speaker. She aligned all the pens on her desk into a tidy fashion and waited silently for the next speaker.

[Ainslie]

Kiara Wollock looked up, taking in the comments of the Toromish delegate. Ainslie already had the Sustainability Department, and she knew a female Ahnslen diplomat at the helm of one of the largest international organisations would do a great thing for her nation and for the organisation.

"Thank you, Mr Arlov. I would like to run for Secretary-General of this organisation. I thank the previous Secretary-General for their diligent service, and hope that I can continue their legacy."

Kiara then sat back down. A lot was riding on this. She was a quite young diplomat compared to the rest of the people here - but she was around average for Ainslie. Her calming blue eyes wandered around the room they were in, watching for any other nominees or delegates that wanted to participate in the discussion.

[Samudera]

Santoso just sipped his tea. He chuckled a bit, seeing those young folks nominating themselves for the Secretary-General position. With great power comes great responsibility, as the old saying goes. As old as he is now, he is still one of the Samudera's best diplomat. Well, at least his wife said that.

He just hoped that whoever leads ACESTI will bring greater good to all of us, while taking a glimpse at two candidates that have nominated themselves.

[Jagellion]

This was Natalya Olmokoc's first delegation. She was a lady in her thirties and attentively listened to the discussion. She wanted to contribute, but had nothing to say.

[Belle Ilse en Terre]

Jerôme Mont-Albigny surveyed the other delegates, and then fell to pondering. NietherKing nor Parliament had given much of an assignlent to him, beyond staying out of trouble and keeping the Lortiks in line, mostly by blocking Lortik attempts to stregthen Lortik autonomy. He therefore sought most in the new Secretary-General friendliness to the Ilse.

Jerôme waited patiently for other candidates to present themselves.

[Domanania]

Wece Seru sat quietly and drank a cup of coffee while she organized her papers. After two of the candidates introduced themselves she began to write some notes down, feeling more comfort in hand written words than electronic keyboards for in the moment writing.

She was in her early 40's with slight wrinkles around the eyes and a small streak of white going down her shoulder length hair. She liked the delegate from Negarakita however she wanted to give the young lass Kiara a chance.

[Athara Magarat]

Charles Burja greeted everyone as he took a seat. He looked around and tried to smile as big as he could to ensure that he made good impressions. The nation's diplomatic reputation had been severely ruined recently by Jrm Hangma's uncanny nature and the man sent to the League, Garbuja Hang's anti-MSTO tantrums.

Burja was smiling and nodding at everyone while joining his hands in the traditional Athara Magarati greeting even while seated until he made eye contact with the delegate from the monarchy of Belle Isle en Terre. There was some tension between the kingdom and the Athara Magarati republican hangate regarding the Lortik issue. But Burja immediately gave away any political thoughts. Things in Athara Magarat were no longer the same. After the refugee crisis, rise of SHOCK and an invasion by the San Montagnan fascists, Athara Magarat was in turmoil and people like Garbuja Hang were irresponsibly bringing the national turmoil to the League and other international forums. He was in the ASESTI summit to discuss cultural artifacts and means to preserve them professionally and make up Athara Magarat's image as a promoter of Isles cultural heritages since eternity.

[Dormill and Stiura]

Gérald Huxtable, the Dormill-Stiuraian Secretary-General to the ACESTI, sat at his chair near the center-back of the main hall of this assembly.

"The Motion on the Floor is regarding the election of the 34th Secretary General of the Association, the current candidate list is as follows:

1. Ms. Sofi of Negarakita,
2. and Ms. Wollock of Ainslie."

He adjusts his papers, clears his throat, and continues, "A roll call of the Representatives is to be called to ascertain that a majority of the members are present before this begins. Please respond with 'Present' when you are called.

Aileen Tindall, the Representative for Dormill and Stiura while Mr. Huxtable was Secretary General, sat up in her seat once she was called, declaring "Present" before sitting and considering whom to vote for.

[Corindia]

Representative Raquel Escamilla quickly stood from her seat.
"Present"

[Xrevaro]

Khiren sipped tea from an ornate cup he traveled with. His old withered hands shook slightly as he set it down.
“Present.” He called quietly from his chair.
His long grayed hair framed his tanned face wrought with wrinkles from a happy life. He was long past his prime, this he knew, and would be retiring from this diplomatic position soon. Till he did however, he would present his nation proudly and respectfully within this chamber.

[Townside]

With a height of 172 cm, an unimposing build and a jittery personality, 28 year old Lewis Doctor left much to be desired from the Townside delegate to ACESTI.

Sure, he may be titled 'Representative Doctor' (a title that was both misleading and unhelpful), but that did not change the fact that he did not feel properly in his place in the large chamber of ACESTI. Doctor may have spent four years at the University of Townside studying his fancy international relations degrees, but for the past six years he was stuck as being the secretary to the Secretariat to the Main Secretariat at the Townside Ministry of International Aid, a 'profession' that earned him mockery from his family and friends.

Finally, the day came where his tea-making and errand-running skills got him a recommendation to the National Palace, and when the summons came Doctor dashed to the residence of the Grand Princes faster than a Vancouvian high speed train to obtain his letter of credence... which made him delegate to ACESTI, an organisation, prestigious though it may be, that was based in his home town of Nightingale.

Slouching back into his comfortable delegate-worthy chair, Doctor sighed at the thought that he could have perhaps done better. He would have even settled for a minor job at the embassy in Alteran Republics, Athara Magarat or Samudera, or even, if his wishful thinking permitted, a job at the embassy in Norstham. Anywhere far away would have made him happy, so long as he could flip his short blonde hair pretentiously at those who dared laugh at him previously.

Sipping from the Lenaderra-glass cup imported from Torom, which every delegate had, Doctor tried his best to calm his nerves as the role call by the Dormill and Stiuran Secretary-General concluded. A delegate from the same country stood up to declare that she was present, before sitting back down, followed by the representative from Corindia and Xrevaro. Doctor began to sweat at the realisation of what was happening.

This was role-call, which meant as many delegates present had to declare their presence in order for voting to start. They were voting on the next Secretary-General from between two candidates from Negarakita and Ainslie, and Doctor was feeling the weight of his role starting to bend his will to live.

ACESTI was a prestigious international organisation that dealt with culture, education and science throughout the Isles. No doubt the Secretary-General of such an organisation was important. Doctor knew he could not muck this up.

He waited silently in his seat, hoping his turn would come slowest. He hoped he would fade into the recesses of his chair as the other national delegates stood up to announce their presence...

...but no one did.

As soon as the initial announcements were concluded the hall slipped into an awkward silence, and it seemed like not a single delegate was willing to stand up and follow through with the procedures, at least, not within a realistically reasonable time frame. No wonder international organisations in the Isles always took so long on simple matters.

Representative Doctor eyed the delegates around the room, hoping one of them would continue by mentioning their attendance, but every one of them seemed distracted by something or another, like arranging their pens in a straight line, shuffling their papers incessantly or looking blankly straight ahead. Some of the chairs were empty, signifying the absence of some representatives. Few have spoken yet. Not the representatives from Belle Ilse en Terre, Covonant, Creek Islands, Domanania, Eurania, Habertland, Jagellion, Remodio or San Montagna, nor have the representatives from Merifons, Michigonia, Montbellia, Nightvvalle, Noronica, Ostehaar, Oturia, Syrussia or Verona Beach sounded their presence.

Doctor knew what he had to do. He was the delegate from ACESTI's headquarter and host nation. It would be a big blow to Townside's national pride if ACESTI were to fail in even a single motion, and as the representative of his country, he knew he could not let that happen.

He knew what he had to do next to get the ball rolling.

Representative Doctor stood up from his seat with shaking legs, but he gripped the edge of his table for stability as he stared straight ahead in a bid to seem confidence.

"P-Present!" he sputtered.

With that, he collapsed back down, earning some odd looks from some other delegates present, but he could care less about that now.

He had just saved his nation's national pride, and he could only look around the room smugly now as he waited for the next representative to answer role call...

[Syrussia]

The Syrussian delegate sat quietly for a few long minutes. Her eyes would scan the room from left to right observing those before her, the stammering of the gentleman from Townside brought her lips into a coy smile as she rose to her feet, reached down to adjust her skirt before announcing herself. "Doctor Anabel Seravich from Syrussia, present". Her heavily accented English was clearly apparent but she nodded to the room before taking to her seat and crossing her legs to relax and wait for the others to announce themselves.

[Michigonia]

The conference call with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took a little longer than delegate Carola Haarmen had anticipated, and now she was rushing to the chambers for the roll call vote. The 49 year old diplomat, though appearing calm and collected to the casual observer, was in fact flustered and fatigued by a series of mishaps on the way to Nightingale over the past week, from delayed flights to forgotten luggage, to office drama within her bureau. Nonetheless, she was eager to begin her work.

"Michigonia is present," she stated after situating her desk.

[Ainslie]

“Present.”

[Belle Ilse en Terre]

“Present”

[Domanania]

"Present"

[Creek Islands]

The representative Júlio Almeida would rush through the halls and chambers of the ACESTI HQ, looking a bit distressed, due to the all of the bureaucratic stuff he had to go through in mainland Creek Islands to attend the meeting. He entered the room with one droplet of sweat dripping from his forehead, wiping it off with a cloth. Júlio attempted to hide his distress by acting relaxed and cool, bringing up a small, laid back grin on his face when he entered the room.

"Creek Islands is present." The representative said, before accommodating himself in his appropriate desk and watching.

[Merifons]

Ambassador Charlotta Dingizian, 53, was busy looking at her phone. The roll call has started and her boss the Foreign Secretary has yet to reply with the final endorsement of Merifons for the next ACESTI secretary-general. She had her elbow on the table, propping up her chin. Her chief of staff, Walda Clay, a young lady, be spectacled, with a curly black hair leaned a bit forward to warn her that Merifons was being called next. After a gentle whisper, the ambassador still seemed preoccupied. Someone from the Jagellion team looked at her.

"Oh my...oh my... why is he looking? Don't judge me, the ambassador is just busy."

The Secretary-General then called Jagellion next, "present".

"Oo-shit."

Clay swooped in to poke the ambassador, the huge organizer her on lap falling to the floor. It was a bit forceful, unintentionally of course but just enough to jolt Dingizian back to her senses just in time for her to announce the attendance of their country.

Dingizian turned back to look at her chief of staff, her gaze was sharp. Irritated, she soon realize why Clay had to that. She immediately turned right before the secretary-generall called Merifons next.

"Present". The roll call continued.

Clay bowed her head and saw the organizer on the floor. She grinned as she collected it. "Well that was close."

[Torom]

"Present."

[HabERtlanD]

"Present"

[Athara Magarat]

"The Athara Magarati democratic hangate is present here."

[Samudera]

"Representative of the Federated Islands of Samudera is present," he exclaimed over the mic.

[Verona Beach]

"Representative of the Free City of Verona Beach is present," Amanda exclaimed. She was a former anthropology and cultural expert at Royal James Cook University, and she was the most qualified person to represent her nation at the ACESTI conference. She adjusted her posture in the chair.
