The President has given me the authority to respond to the horrific attack on our navy last night. As you all well know, for the past couple of months we have been working with the PDF in blockading shipping routes in the Japanese island chain. On a routine patrol at 01:48 hrs, our Armidale patrol vessel UOS Canberra and her 50 crew had disappeared from all radar. We tried for 3 hours to hail the vessel but to no avail. One of our naval drones was sent out to investigate their last known location and at 06:00 our drone spotted the eviscerated wreckage of the UOS Canberra 65 nmi from Naval base Zulu. It appears that all 50 crew members have perished. At 08:00 our Deagu frigate UOS Viper was sent to their location with diving teams to collect the data box from the wreckage of the ship. After reviewing the data, the crew of the Canberra had detected a XASM-3 anti-ship missile launch from the Yurikiyan mainland at 01:37. They moved to 50 knots and deployed countermeasures but all attempts to dodge the missile produced no result. In their panic, the vessel had run-a-ground on a sandbar and was stuck and we all know what happened next. Unfortunately only 32 out of the 50 bodies found have been identified. The unidentified remains will have to be sent to Brisbane for identification and then all families will be notified. I have notified the President of my intentions going forward but before any decisions are made I wish to here his intentions as well but I can almost be 100% sure that we are on the same page. More will come in the days ahead.

​Christian Right sweeps both houses in snap elections

​Both sides of the aisle expected it but were surprised to hear it: the Christian Right has secured a majority in both the Union Council and Senate in today's special election.

Earlier this month, the Government Presidency attempted to intervene in Rhodesia but was blocked by the United Social Democrat-controlled Senate. As a response, the Union Council President and President-General (Albert Beckenbauer and Arthur Hecker) called a snap election, hoping to remove the USD-majority in the Senate. The Christian Right controlled Union Council voted in a 2/3 majority to proceed, but the Senate was reluctant to let it pass.

Harrison Hicks, leader of the United Social Democrats and Senate President, came under fire for his inaction regarding the snap elections. After a day of private conversation, Hicks passed on his leadership of the USD to Iuan McDonnell who urged the social democrats in the Senate to vote in favor of snap elections.

McDonnell expected that the United Social Democrats would sweep the floor. He was wrong.

The Christian Right won 265 of the 500 seats in the Senate and 16 of the 25 seats in the Union Council. The Market Liberals won 55 Senate seats and 3 Union Council seats. The U. Social Democrats won 180 Senate seats and 6 Union Council seats, essentially losing grasp on the Union government entirely.

The new Senators and Union Councillors are expected to take their offices within the next week and the Deputy Leader of the Christian Right, Oswald Marquering, is on track to becoming Senate President.

The Market Liberals and Christian Right are expected to form a coalition to help secure overwhelming majorities in both houses, but even the combined votes of both parties (320 votes) isn't enough to get a 2/3 majority in the Senate.

Now that the Christian Right has a majority in both houses, the leaders of the party see a public mandate for their aggressive agenda.

BREAKING NEWS:
An explosive device has been detonated in the Knov100 stands. According to onlookers nearby, it was near the top of the stands. It was "a large explosion, huge bang," according to @SSSSSK who was at the location.

The explosion occurred near where President Mark Hofmon was seated. It is unknown if Mr. Hofmon has survived.

It has been reported that over 400 people are injured and over 70 are dead in this most recent attack. The cause of the attack is unknown at the moment.

The president, Mark Hofmon, has also been reported to have been killed in this horrible incident. The Vice President has also been reported to have lost her legs and her right arm.

Ultimatum to Taprobana

Our neighbours in the island nation of Taprobana have always been a close ally. That is why I bring this news with great sorrow in my heart, for fear of souring relations with our long-standing island friends.

The investigation into the June 19th attacks on our country have shown that the assailants responsible for this attack had fled to Taprobana after the attacks, and have not left since. This is not acceptable. The Taprobanan government accept responsibility for harboring these terrorists, and no longer provide them asylum.

The executive request I make to the Taprobanans is simple: Accept responsibility, arrest those who are suspected, and return them to Panjal for questioning.
