Notation re: Team Sports

The UBNOC has made the controversial decision to eliminate participation in team sports staring with this Olympic style. The UBNOC feels that there is a lack of depth of talent in men's and women's ice hockey as well as men's and women's curling, to justify a continued Olympic presence in those sports. The additional funds that other disciplines in the delegation received through redistribution is significant, and Unified Beretania as a result, has been able to generate a handful of additional medal contenders this Olympic cycle.

Today, there is an online and print version, and it is the main newspaper covering the Olympics in Tri-County Albavona-Red River Valley Metro Area.

Playing style:

Players from former Prusy Krolewskie relies on puck control, speed, fineness and perfect passes. They prefer to keep the puck than shooting on the net. Their style is comparable to the USSR style in the '70s. The Pruski doesn't like physical play at all.

Players from former Botten plays modern hockey and they're pretty much skilled. They don't keep the puck as much longer as Prussian players but they don't dump the puck either.

Players from former Southern Democratic States plays north american style hockey. They crash the net and are more physical than Prussian and Bothnian players. Hunter McGuire is a power forward and sometimes goes for the big hit. He's not affraid to drop the gloves too.

Head Coach: Otto Klötzer
Assistant Coach: Jörgen Grönborg
Assistant Coach: Nick Vanderklok

Ioudaian Delegation to the XIII Winter Olympics

Flag Bearer: Teutamos Ioannidis

Six Athletes to Watch

Peneleos ben Chadad
Biathlon: 10 km sprint, 15 km mass start, 20 km individual, and mixed relay team

At 34 years old, Peneleos is at the peak of his form as a biathlete. Having won half-dozen medals in Ioudaian competition, he’s now considered ready to win at the Olympics.

Peneleos is a captain in the Ioudaian Defense Force, Foreign Forces Development Corps, currently on leave for athletic training. “I’d never picked up a gun before joining the army, but they trained me well, and I’m grateful to the service to allow me this opportunity to compete. I hope to bring Ioudaia glory on a new field of battle, a peaceful one.”

Phyllis bat Ilana
Biathlon: 12.5 km mass start and mixed relay team
Cross-country skiing: 10 km freestyle, 15km skiathlon, and sprint team

Phyllis practically grew up on skis, learning winter hunting with her older brothers on their farm in the shadow of the Red Ridge Mountains. Her progression into a professional biathlete seemed only natural from there, and she began to compete at age 14. Now 24 years old, she’s a well-established, reliable competitor. She’s competing in five events this Olympics, the most of any Ioudaian.

Tamid Ben Ebron
Alpine skiing: Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Super Combined

Tamid is one of Ioudaia’s most unusual celebrity athletes. He’s been quietly building a name for himself among ski fans, but it wasn’t until he was selected by lot to serve in the Assembly that he became a household name. Since then, he’s become an icon of Ioudaia’s unique form of government, showing how sortition brings unexpected people and their talents into government. He’s used his position to popularize Ioudaia’s Olympic team and has assisted in developing a coaching tradition to ensure Ioudaia will be competitive for generations.

Despite being 39 years old, Tamid seems to be just hitting his stride as a skier, and he looks forward to years of competition on the world stage.

Matan ben Utz
Ski jumping: Normal and Large Hill

Matan is Ioudaia’s most promising young athlete. Barely out of junior competition, at 19, Matan looks to quickly establish himself at the world level.

Teutamos Ionannidis
10k speed skating

Teutamos is a fast-rising star in the skating world. Three years ago, he was completely unknown, but since then, he’s soared through the ranks of Ioudaian competition. He credits his coaches for his achievements, but everybody else thinks he’s a natural at skating.

Chaya Bat Meiri
Freestyle Skiing: Halfpipe and Slopestyle

Chaya is only 19 years old, but she’s already opened a new world of skiing for Ioudaia. She the first person to import freestyle skiing, and since then, she’s dazzled crowds with a mixture of rock-solid performance and daring. Chaya was one of the driving forces behind Ioudaia joining this year’s Olympics, pressing the Ioudaian sporting federations to join, and helping them organize for world-class competition.

Uniforms and Liveries
Neo is manufacturing uniforms for the Imperan Olympic Athletes. But due to uniform regulations of Imperan Olympic Association, the lisanderian brand won't present its logo in any prominent places (chest, neck, upper sleeves). No national flag or emblem will be displayed since they're theoretically independent athletes.

Ceremony Uniform
Due to late commission, Imperan Olympic Athletes will participate in the parade with generic attire. It is composed of a yellow polo shirt, blue jacket with IOA logo, Track pants with Imperan League Flag and an optional cap. Athletes will be allowed to wear its own headgear to protect from the cold.

Media

RTL (Radio Television Lisander), aka Channel 1, will broadcast some events, like Hockey Matches, Speed Skating and Female Skeleton Finals. RTL, the owner of TV rights for Lisander, made a deal with TV5, and the later one will have its second sports channel, and we'll have TV5 Sports 2 (pay tv), broadcasting the Olympics 24/7, while TV5Sports will present most important events. Events with IOA participants will be broadcasted for free on the Imperan Olympic Association website (signup needed). It's expected that Hockey Nation Blog will also provide some posts about the hockey tournament.

In Lorenthia, the LoT (Lorenthian Public Television) will broadcast every hockey game and flashes of featured events. TV4, the major private channel, will add a new channel on its paid channels portfolio, solely for the Olympics. The "Olympic TV4" should be discontinued after the event.

In the Aristian Republic, there will be no public broadcasting, but people will be able to watch events via the Imperan Olympic Association website (signup needed). Other events can be seen on Lisanderian or Lorenthian channels, that are accessible to Aristian pay-tv subscribers.

RP Permissions and Other Info
Don't injure Petronilla Martin in any way. Neither a broken fingernail or a mosquito bite. Nothing.

Nation: Kebec
Trigramme: KBC
    Flabrearer: Mineto (Mens' Ice Hockey)
    National Anthem: Ahoy, Kebec!

Image
Kebec National Hockey Team
XIII Winter Olympics

Name: La République Nordique de Kebec
Quick Intro: La République Nordique de Kebec (The Nordic Republic of Kebec) is a small, breathtaking country situated in northwestern Atlantian Oceania, a smaller country of sorts, however, an ethnic mixing pots, 13 major ethnicities refer to Kebec as their delightful (and frigid) home, despite their ethnic difference, the nation is able to father around their love for the nation that is Kebec and work thru all strife to recognize the beauty and sanctity of this oasis. Grounded in our roots of the ancient Norse peoples who once populated and roamed our lands freely, we return to our olden roots and believe in the work and testament to the Gods while being accepting to all world cultures, Kebec is renowned for its Asgardian-styled architecture and the blessings bestowed upon itself by the Gods of Asgard.
Region: Atlantian Oceania
Nicknames: Les Yetis Bleus (The Blue Yetis), The Icers (historical)
Colors: Kebecois Bleu, Blue, Silver, Gold, White
Stadium: New Cheerywood (capacity 18 200)
(View Here)
After years of enduring playing at the under-sized, hugely dilapidated Sario National Hall, the Kebecois national team and Hockey Kebec worked alongside KHL-1 team - the Sario Wizards to unveil a new state-of-the-art eighteen-thousand-plus seater arena in the heart of the capital city, New Cheerywood is built on top of the Cheerywood Palace, an old hockey arena back from the pre-Kebecois Winter War days during the 20th century, now, in modern times, New Cherywood stands in its place. Built two years ago and used for Kebec's WCoH 34 games, the arena is very new, though unfortunately, it will not be used as Odin Cup 2 games are to be placed in Calix City.

At current, the New Cheerywood beautiful arena can hold up to 18,200 people in its full seating-capacity, its situated in the "Portsmouth Disctrict" of Kebec - this area is considered to be he more modern era of Sario, it is known for being the home of Sario National College, many students are known to flock in this area. Beware - this area is frequented for college people looking for bars, as such, beer prices have skyrocketed in this area, expect to pay N$10 ber bottle and N$8 per can. All in all, New Cheerywood is a testament to Kebecois design, mixing ancient Greek architect and the more common and traditional French architects that is common in Kebec and creating a new style for the national arena, a symbol to behold and a well-timed one too as Hockey Kebec seems to be on the come up.

Hockey Association: Hockey Kebec (HK), headquartered in Sario, Odin Country.
    HA Chairman: Rau Fregan (new)

Team History
Kebec made its debut in international hockey with the World Cup of Hockey 30, contested in Norrehavn - then known as Kep, the national failed miserably, falling flat on its' face in its first try, losing each game (four) by an average of 3.7 points-per-game, this is usually considered a dark-mark in Kebecois hockey history and lead to the dissolution of the old Kespian Hockey Association and the Kep Island Hockey League. Fast-forward to 2036, under ex-coach Quentin Vaugrenard, Kebec qualified for World Cup of Hockey 33 and promptly fell flat on its face with a disappointing play. The sixth, revival edition of the Atlantia Oceania Hockey Championships saw new coach Alan Foye guide them to the knockout rounds until they suffered a 2-nil loss to Komarov-Thomiya, ending their Cinderella streak. In recent times, its taken place and participated in the Odin Cup Invitational, a pre-WCoH warm-up in which they performed well, reaching the finals before losing to Cosneolta 4-1.

Expanded History: Kebec's been trying at hockey since its founding, however, Kebecois hockey has only come to prominence recently in the past 5-10 years, the global launching and positioning of the Kebec Hockey League-1 and the Kebecois hockey pyramid system which has slowly grown to become one of the more well-known hockey leagues in the multiverse, when one thinks of Kebec, they now associate themselves with the KHL-1 if not Hockey Kebec. Kebec's first foray into international hockey was World Cup of Hockey 30, which as previously mentioned little data was collected on (i.e. I didn't roleplay) - resulting in some obscure info on the tournament, however, we do know Kebec's previous incarnation - Kep imploded, being completely destroyed on their march to a failure, this is usually referred to as the "Dark Age" of Kebecois or pre-Kebecois if you will, hockey, many have tried to downplay this in Kebec's hockey history, but it is common knowledge of their failures. Fast-forward almost twenty years to the 33rd edition of the WCoH, this time, under homegrown coach Quentin Vaugrenard. Vaugrenard had been considered a savior for Kebec heading into the competition - guiding the Big Bay Hawks all the way to the then-IHNL (now KHL-1) finals before losing in five games to the Albert-Cross Angels. Now, rightfully awarded the coaching duties, he was unable to right the ship as Kebec stumbled thru the WCoH 33 with blood gushing from its many cuts and wounds, it wound up going 1-1-8, a measly record that saw much shame brought upon the national team, leaving it with little chance of redemption. However, with a newfound push from the Kebecois hockey organization - Hockey Kebec, a push to guide Kebec into the top 15 in the world in three World Cup of Hockey-cycles, Kebec has re-concentrated its efforts on hockey, going as far as hiring Cosumarite former assistant coach and world champion, Alan Foye was brought in as the new coach of the senior national team, guiding the Kebecois team to a 4-1-1 showing at the AOHC 6 tourney in which they lost out in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
After that, they took place in the Hockey Kebec-sponsored Odin Cup Invitational an annual hockey tournament in which Kebec took on three other well-known hockey teams with the heavy-weights of Savojarna and Cosneolta being present, Kebec performed surprisingly well in the post-Fabien De Saint-Pierre-era, scoring nine goals thru the course of the tournament and demonstrating their clear offensive prowess, however a top-25 ranked Cosnoelota proved more than their match and they unfortunately succumbed to a regretful 4-1 victory. However, Alan Foye has certainly demonstrated that he can lead the team. Since arriving, Coach Foye has brought with him a new philosophy in hopes of growing the Kebecois game and adequately preparing them for the rigors of the World Cup of Hockey.
Entering World Cup of Hockey 34, there were heavy expectations for the Foye-lead squad, with Kebecois hockey fanatics demanding a Kebecois run at the quarter-finals, Coach Foye, the Cosumarite brought an identity to the team, which latched on, learning from previous mistakes and went on a 4-1-0 run at the group-stages, proving that within the post-De Saint-Pierre era, there is certainly an emerging star certainly in the works. Coach Foye, who seemed to really gel with the team, riding the wave of Kebecoi's euphoric rise in hockey, it stunningly dislodged Gregoryisgodistan out of the tournament, something that sent hockey supporters everywhere into shock, certainly giving Coach Foye much credibility in his ability to lead a team that was considered a lost cause. However, Novaya Zemlya who consistently prove to be Kebec's downfall in international hockey yet again ended the Kebecois reign, defeating them 4-3 in a tight Octofinals match. Coach Foye was awarded a four-tourney extension by Hockey Kebec under Rau Fregan, Odin Cup 2 and the upcoming WCoH 35 will be the first proofs for him on whether or not he truly is the real-deal for coaching or if the last tourneys were just a mirage.

Team Info
Style Modifier:: +3.7
Post-WCoH34 Ranking:: ???
Formation: 1-1-4 (utilizing extra forward)
Introducing a new manager is never easy, especially a new one in successive cycles, the Kebecois hockey federation - Hockey Kebec, has opted to name for Cosumar assistant coach and world champion Alan Foye as the Kebecois national team head coach for the next two years, signing a large ᛊ9.75-million (N$6-million) contract, ensuring that he heads the senior hockey team for two consecutive tenures, included, he signed a one-cycle opt-out that would shell out N$4-million if he chose to quit. A large expense that the Hockey Kebec organization was willing to gurantee however, one that will later come to assist the Kebecois side if this move pans out correctly as planned. The debut of the new coaching style of Alan Foye is a major increase from the relative defensive positioning seen previously under the likes of Vaugrenard. Foye introduces some new-styled tactics, the Kebecois formations will only utilize one defender and opt for four forwards with the edition of the utilitarian goalie charged with keeping the net clean of any pucks. Foye's formation will allow for flexibility on both sides of the ice, the fourth forward will be able to play a two-way system, its likely Foye will recruit a defensive-styled right-wing to play the extra position most likely.

Kit
Image

Info: The Kebecois national team introduced a new kit at AOHC 6, attempting to play on the flag of Kebec, Hockey Kebec denied an opportunity to renew their license with IceVille Kits - instead opting for a transfer to Oceanus Kits in an attempt to fine better-suited colors for the Kebecois national team. Pioneered mightily by Hockey Kebec's chairman, the new kits are a drastice improvement over IceVille's kit, these proudly display te national colors of the Kebecois nation and have been applauded mightily by many.

Mercedinian Olympic Team Details & Hockey Rosters

  • Flag Bearer: Oliver Kovandzich, Mercedinian short-track speed skater participating in three events in this Olympics.
  • Parade of Nations Outfits & Notes: Ice-White Winter Sports Outfit, with blue trim. All athletes and coaches present in the Mercedinian delegation during the parade of nations will be waving miniature flags, while either waving to the crowd or filming the action on their phones as they walk out.
  • Special Attendees: Current Prime Minister Dimitry Larmee will be present for the Opening Ceremony.

As Mercedini travel to their first ever Olympic games, there will be plenty of hype over the team sports which Mercedini have tried their best to make a deep run in. The sport of Ice Hockey is considered a national sport with the national team competing regularly in the World Cup of Hockey for the past five cycles, making the knockout phases twice before. As for the other team sports, the nation who play in blue and black will aim to put together a good performance in all curling disciplines, with the men, women and mixed doubles all looking to go deep in the competition and pick up a medal at the first time of asking. The following attached documents is a list of rosters for Mercedinian team events at the 13th Winter Olympics in Prescott City.

The Mercedinian Hockey Association have allowed Magnekoli to send a full strength squad to the Olympics as preparation for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey which will take place over the next couple of weeks with the bidding phase quite possibly coming to an end towards the beginning of the next month. Max Morton and the Pollock brothers are the big names in the team who all play their hockey in Novaya Zemlya, with a plethora of names from different leagues giving Mercedini the experience to make a deep run in the tournament. Plenty of big hockey nations stand in their way, the team have to lay it all on the ice to come out with something.

A smaller roster for the women's team due to a lack of developed national hockey league, however the team go in with plenty of support thanks to the women's hockey circuit present in the nation's universities and sports colleges. Not many big named present in the team with only Enya Collamoska playing for the female subsidiary of a professional team in the Zoloroni City Icettes. However the team has been training well in Mercedini before travelling to Prescott City to continue their developmental stage before their first competitive match for the women's team.

Media Kit for Journalists: Savojar teams

ICE HOCKEY

Savojarna plays a game that is mostly depending on tactical discipline and puck possession. While the Savojars do value a good deflection or rebound goal, and certainly have many players who can do such things, they usually prefer a pass to a shot from a desperate position hoping for a lucky bounce. Their players think fast rather than move exceptionally fast (but they are not slow either!), with a few exceptions on the attack since the coaching changed and the team is a bit more aggressive. While they don't have to hide from anyone, they are usually not physically superior.

In terms of tactics, they play an aggressive forechecking with one or two men, trying to force puck losses, and drop back to their own blue line once the opponent has reached the neutral zone. They attempt to keep the opponent away from their own side, and defend usually quite solid. On the attack, Savojarna's top lines work with a lot of passing and cycling the puck to find an open lane while the third and fourth line play deeper and with more drive to the net. Especially the fourth line often crowds the slot, while the third is more likely to go deep and play behind the net. Usually, the Savojars play with 13 forwards and 7 defenders. The women's team employs significantly more offensive tactics and relies more on passing the puck around due to the less physical nature of women's hockey.

Goalkeeper order: Hoyman - Strakhov - Davidsson, unless indicated otherwise.

Special Teams:
The Savojar team plays a powerplay focused mainly on shooting from the point and the circle. The two defenders play both in the area between the blue line and the top of the circle, but occasionally advance to the circle. The winger on the side of the puck moves to the circle to be open and get a shot off, the other winger moves towards the goal to assist the center in screening and opening shooting lanes. The center remains in front of the goal. In penalty killing, Savojarna lets the opponent play around the boards, but intervenes quickly if the puck moves inside the box. They play a PK with relatively little pressure.

Special Teams:
The Savojar team plays a powerplay focused mainly on circling the puck around the outside and searching the pass through the slot. The two defenders play both in the area between the blue line and the top of the circle, but occasionally advance to the circle. The winger on the side of the puck moves to the circle to be open and get a shot off, the other winger moves towards the goal to assist the center in screening and opening shooting lanes. The center remains in front of the goal or cycles behind it when the puck is rotating. Style codes:
HYB = Hybrid goaltender. Uses a sensible mixture of butterfly and standup styles. Average likelihood of rebounds.
BFY = Butterfly goaltender. Quickly drops into butterfly stance to make saves. Will concede more rebounds, but is harder to beat low.
DFD = Defensive defender. Sticks to the blue line and works a lot in backchecking. Blocks shots, checks and is hard to get past.
TWD = Two-way defender. Dangerous from the point and the top of the circle, but focuses on backchecking. Also good at breakouts.
OFD = Offensive defender. Usually a good shooter and passer, and will more frequently move deep in offensive play. Still is a defender though.
TWA = Two-way attacker. A forward who will be quick to fall back if the team loses the puck, and prevents odd-man rush opportunities.
PWF = Power forward. A forward who plays with strength in everything he does, but also relies on skill. The most allround forwards on the team.
SNP = Sniper. A forward who will score more goals than assists. His job is simply to put the puck in the back of the net from every position.
PLM = Playmaker. A forward who has good overview and passing, and will score more assists than goals. His job is to create chances for the team.
GRN = Grinder. A forward using his body to annoy the opponent, get or keep the puck and push it into the goal. Especially good at forechecking.
