Clearly the only solution available now is to do a complete 360 and tax all the things.

While it's obvious that there's either going to be some kind of bailout and/or tax overhaul, I can still dream.

Or we could put Oklahoma down. It's been long overdue, and we can tell that it's in pain. Just replace it with Puerto Rico and we won't have to change the flag!

For the purpose of privatization. If public schools are underfunded, stop them from being public, so on and so forth.

Given that the public schools weren't functioning, and the government wasn't collecting taxes to pay for them, there was precisely nothing stopping the free market from stepping up and providing schools to compete with them. That didn't happen.

The OK government still exists. Time to kill it so that the corporations can formally declare themselves Co-Governors.

By driving everybody who actually had anything worth taxing out of the state, so that the tax system couldn't collect anything and the government services would collapse anyway?

Its just so very hard to be upset about this. Last time I was in OK, I was given a lot of shit for not going to church. While I was there on business. Independently from several individuals. One landowner wouldn't let me on his ranch and we had to fly somebody else out to get that part of the survey done.

I am petty.

Apologizing to inhabitants of the flyover states? That’s not how this works!/s

Anyway, the electorate better make some demands from their government soon.

I mean that would sole what? I mean the populace wouldn’t change overnight, and they’re the ones who elected these people.

I wonder how much money is generated through their toll roads?

Are we sure they need to raise taxes? Or maybe better money management in the state level?

Hell, legalize gambling, prostitution, and marijuana.

That will generate some fucking revenue, and be pretty damn good time.

OK, Leonardo, what even the fuck.

No, seriously, explain yourself -- what do you wanna see from Oklahoma after it trims itself to the strictures you evidently desire?

Afterwards? I want to see if residents can permanently remove themselves from government dependence.
If they cannot, the method must be changed.

Looks like we're halfway there to prosperity.

Alicia Priest, president of Oklahoma Education Association, said she is disappointed in the outcome of the vote and encouraged lawmakers to keep trying to approve a pay raise for the state's teachers, who have not had a pay increase in 10 years. Oklahoma is ranked 49th in the nation in teacher pay.

"Today our members are back at school doing their job and they expect nothing less of our legislators," Priest said. "If there's a better plan, I expect to see it soon."

Priest said the organization's nearly 40,000 members expect state lawmakers to put aside partisan politics and gamesmanship that she says prevented passage of the revenue-raising bill in the House.

"We are not on a sustainable course and we've got to make a turn somewhere," Priest said. "The reality is we're going to have to raise revenue. Somewhere along the line we all have to pay our part to fund core government services."

That doesn't look like prosperity to me.

And to keep cutting when cutting and "Letting the free market work" failed sounds like we need to have an intervention.

The answer is never to keep cutting.
