Military Quality Index

This index will be used to give the general quality of your infantry. It relies on three statistics: skill, discipline, and morale. Skill is the more small ability element - aim, physique, etc. Discipline is skill on a larger scale, meaning things like teamwork, ability to take orders, ability to give orders. Discipline here is essentially competence. Finally, morale - self-explanatory. It is the difference between a fanatical and enraged Crusader, who fights like an angry bull, or soldiers who do nothing but retreat. This army takes no regards towards technology or quality of equipment, and ONLY the quality of the personnel!

Just a note: 5/10 is average on this scale.

Skill Levels

1/10 - Childsplay
These soldiers can barely even use their weaponry. If military training was high school, these soldiers would have no hope of going to college.

2/10 - Hyperincompetent
While actually possessing some form of ability, it's miniscule and almost pathetic.

3/10 - Stormtrooper
They're capable of using their equipment, just not very well.

4/10 - Newbie
Soldiers of this level are below-average in skill and are unlikely to find much success anywhere.

5/10 - Trained
Typical infantry. This is the average level of skill.

6/10 - Professional
Soldiers of this tier are better than average and often their army relies less on numbers.

7/10 - Knight
Better than pro. Soldiers of this tier are probably born to fight!

8/10 - Napoleonic
These soldiers are staggeringly good at combat and may be able to destroy armies much larger than their own very reliably.

9/10 - Gurkha
Soldiers this skilled can often destroy armies orders of magnitude larger with just a little effort.

10/10 - Carolean
Soldiers of this skill are terrifying. They will defeat any army you throw at them, no matter how big!


Discipline

1/10 - Horde
Soldiers like this have no sense of teamwork. They might fight well, but that doesn't help if one rushes in blindly!

2/10 - Fragile
They can hardly form any sort of formation or operation without it being so easy to break.

3/10 - Incompetent
Soldiers of this tier have as much ability to coordinate with their teammates as a 12-year-old COD player.

4/10 - Militia
They can work as a team, coordinate, and take orders, but it's not going to be any more complex than 'literally everyone just rush the target'

5/10 - Coordinated
How a typical soldier works. They communicate well with their comrades.

6/10 - Bonded
The soldiers coordinate well with their teammates and can work with other military elements well.

7/10 - Comrades
These soldiers have such great teamwork skills that it feels as if the army is one big family!

8/10 - Combined Arms
Most armies are capable of making some usage of combined arms, but the quality of discipline in this army allows for every single conflict to employ it!

9/10 - British
These soldiers, if they were line infantry, would feel more like brick walls than humans.

10/10 - Prussian
There is simply no army in the world capable of replicating how competent your soldiers are!


Morale

1/10 - In a Trench
Your soldiers find everything hopeless and would always rather be anywhere else.

2/10 - Draftees
Half of them probably don't even want to be there, and the other half have just given up on complaining about it.

3/10 - Cowardly
While there's a chance they're not all wanting to leave, they're very easy to scare into a retreat.

4/10 - Soft
With just a little elbow grease from the enemy, your soldiers will start to feel little hope.

5/10 - Willing
Typical infantry. They'll fight on if they have to and it's a little hard to scare them.

6/10 - High Spirits
These men are glad to fight for your nation, and will not back down without a fight!

7/10 - Fierce
These soldiers will fight through any terrain and with any casualties!

8/10 - Surging
At this point, it's not possible to break this army's morale. You either break their officer's morale, or destroy them.

9/10 - Jingoistic
Whatever the reason may be, be it hatred, fearlessness, or stupidity, these soldiers have an iron will.

10/10 - Fanatical
These soldiers are simply impossible to scare. They fight as if their enemy is a genocidal monster hoping to wipe their civilization out!


Note: You don't have to use this to measure an entire army. It can be used for individual branches or groups.

Explanation:
Lethen infantry have extremely good training regimes and conduct regular exercises after training. Propaganda and a focus on teamwork inspires quality discipline in Lethen infantry. Furthermore, Lethens are pretty xenophobic and indoctrinated, causing them to despise the enemy greatly. As such, they are very much glad to fight.

Explanation:
Iron Guardsmen/Steel Legionaries are your typical run-of-the mill troops, with the Iron Guard providing infantry support to the almost completely mechanized Steel Legion. As such, they work and train with each other so often that if an Iron Guard unit shows up without Steel Legion support, or the other way around, something unusually bad has happened. Add in the belief that they're doing the Lord's work, and you've got what are essentially modern-day combined-arms crusaders. Despite this, though, they *can* break, which is why we have Commissars.

Explanation: Young Men, put through extensive genetic modification and extreme training, and dropped into battlefields that seem to have come straight from hell, that is the SIDF. They will fight until death, and will never retreat. They stand like a wall of titanium, unmovable, and fight like demons, unstoppable. Their mere presence on the battlefield strikes terror into their enemies hearts, their warcry the death knell for their foe. They are war incarnate, and will fight, till death or dishonor.

Reasoning: The BRGAF is the ground force of Bastion Remnant. They are an impenetrable force, using high morale, a healthy use of combined arms, such as armored infantry calling for artillery, and they demonstrate a sense of professionalism unlike many other world army. They are trained well, and the average Bastion Soldier can easily outmatch other MDU Soldiers.
Stats: (not NS) 105 Million Miltary personnel, 2.119 Billion, NO SURRENDER, Totalism, and yearly government purges.
15,000,000 Km2 area, split across Europe and Asia.

Explanation: For skill, the heroes can easily shift the tide of battle with dark magic or destruction magic to disable an enemy's most powerful units, Nightmares can strike fear into opponent morale, their cerberi can tear apart small squads with their three heads or fire breath for some, their horned overseers can unleash a burst of fire in the middle of battle, their succubis' fireballs can hit multiple units & deal some alright damage, their pit spawns deal more damage the more their sword kills, & the pit lords can summon fireballs or meteor showers to obliterate opponent teams.

For skill, it could be higher if the hero commanding them is a tactician, but they otherwise will probably rush in & gate in reinforcements, taking care not to be hit by their allies' spells. Usually, they'd wait for gated reinforcements to pop in & wreak a bit of havoc, & then the demons will charge in to further increase the chaos.

For morale, it's not desirable to fail Kha-Beleth, & most demons fight until their last breath. The most you'll ever see of a demon force is a strategic retreat, & you'd only ever scare them by showing some mighty power & kill off most of the force. Otherwise, they will fight on in what most people describe as "in a euphoric frenzy that drives them to never stop until the last one is slain." It is claimed that battles with demons end in four ways: "you die, they die, you retreat with several hundred demons behind you, or the demons fall back into their castle & not engage, spamming spells & fireballs until you go away."

Name of Army: Gesh'rigu (History Rescue)
Skill: 10/10 Caroleon
Discipline: 10/10 Prussian
Morale: 6/10 High Spirits
Explanation: Gesh'rigu only has eight members, but when fighting with one another, they're designed to cover one another's weaknesses & complement one another's strengths. When all eight are together, it's fair to say that most armies will have difficulty taking them on when chaos & spells are flying everywhere from the Gesh'rigu members.
Bo'kan Ko'la: Support (can convert enemies into neutrals that fight anyone, while her torch has a variety of functions)
Ir'a Tar'rama: Swift DPS (acrobatic abilities, stone spear, & his turquoise solar flare-summoning jewels mean he can swiftly move around while greatly damaging an enemy force)
Ka'tyu Za'v: Single-target DPS (he has a rifle & can fly to take out key targets)
Ka'ir Bia'yu: Utility (her portal wand teleports parts of her opponents to where she is, so she can warp an enemy into someone else or warp enemies bit by bit to death)
Ka'ir Azhsaloth: Tank/DPS (he's huge & has a huge health pool, while his fire trident & flame pillars can easily lay waste to enemy squads)
Fa'l-Asandrau: Support (she can use her fishing rod to reel or unreel opponents out of formation)
Li'yu Xoa'yi: Support (she's the healer & can use magic to distract enemies)
Li'yu Je'vu: DPS/Support (has an enchanted blade & scythe to cut through enemy lines, spreading Chao magic to further disrupt them)


Usually what ends up happening with all eight is that Bo'kan & Je'vu try to turn as many enemies against one another as possible, Ir'a swings by & hits them with solar flares, Ka'tyu & Ka'ir snipes anyone trying to disrupt the chaos, Azsh'aloth protects the backline & sweeps enemies out of the way, Fa'l reels enemies here & there to force them into undesirable circumstances (such as being surrounded by neutrals), & Xoa'yi heals or distracts anyone not already caught up in dealing with the neutrals. Generally, trying to send a whole army after them ends in chaos since the opponent forces would start turning against each other.

Explanation: The Kenmorian army relies primarily on size so has little positive strengths other than the norm. They receive a six-month training course to ascend to the lowest level of the military but it is not as harsh as some other countries. Their discipline is average, most of them have learnt to follow orders well but the soft judicial process leads to occasional problems with discipline. Morale is one of their strongest points as nearly all of Kenmoria's targets are terrorists, whom are universally hated by everyone.

Much of Exodia’s militias are veterans of the brutal pre-Exodian Skirmishes, with a few younger men or women fresh out of conscription. While their mostly guerrilla-style tactics and surplus weapons are rather outdated or weak against a heavily-supplied army, their vast individual war experience and forever-burning fighting spirit matches that of any invading military, with an unending thirst for the defense of their people. The darker a situation, it seems as if morale is actually boosted- If they’re to die on a battlefield, they’re bringing every last opposing soul to Hell with them, with their warcry to drown out that of any enemy’s.

Explanation: Historically and to this day, Baraxia has been surrounded by threats. It has typically responded with kind words and overwhelmingly fierce fighting. Now we have the US base on Diego Garcia, less than 100 Km from mainland Baraxia, an expansionistic India and Indonesia who wish to invade, a Somalia in the midst of anarchy and Piracy and multiple nuclear weapons pointed at us. At this point anything less than the best trained, equipped and fiercest soldiers would be dangerous.

Explanation: The Free Federation maintains a focus on having a small number of very well trained combat personnel. The chain of command is something of a mess, with inter-state rivalries being a major issue between units and making cooperation between different regiments difficult. That said, when put up against an enemy that generates the right amount of antipathy (e.g. fascists or other genocidaires), most fight with something resembling religious fervor.

Explanation: As part of a well-trained and organized military, the GAM is fairly skilled overall and has excellent discipline. While members of the GAM are usually proud to fight for their country, I don't quite see many of them continuing to fight despite major casualties, so at most they're a 6 out of 10 overall for morale.

Explanation: Failerioan national army is a main representor of all Failerioan military might. They exist... just cause every other country has an army. And army of Failerio reflects spirit of Failerio. It's members shoot like drunk stormtroopers from Star Wars, run like mice from every damn sign of danger, and they hardly know how to create a formation.

Discipline: 3-4
Morale: 6-8
Explanation: The CNM is a loosely-organized part time militia formed to defend the nation from foreign invasion. By law, they cannot be deployed abroad under any circumstances. They are civilians who mainly use guerilla tactics to fight the enemy. Explanation: The BMC is Corantia's premier mercenary group. It is composed entirely of ex-soldiers of varying nationalities. The BMC is commonly used for peacekeeping and counter-insurgency,and they have become terrifyingly good at that. An insurgent may fire a rocket at a convoy one day and wake up a week later being hauled out to an armored truck, along with his wife and children, never to be seen again. They are also used for reconnaissance and all sorts of shady missions that the Corantian Government would rather not be associated with.

The human face of Exodia’s military-industrial complex, the HPS, as well as their competitors/occasional allies such as Blue Creek Patrols and Rockwell Military Services, many Exodian mercenaries are post-conscription citizens who wanted a more economically pragmatic take on a military life. Incredibly tough and quite fierce in battle, they could be considered being just as patriotic as a regular soldier’s, considering how often the Exodian government hires them to fight in conflicts abroad that frees up troops at home and lets Exodia enter sensitive territory without political consequences. Despite them fighting for money, they have undying loyalty to their country and would never betray it, no matter the profits.

Explanation:

The question as to how the Imperial Military is absurdly skilled is rather easy to answer; Forever War. The Imperium has to constantly churn out better weaponry and soldiers to counter their enemies' own progress, as well as great experience in fighting against enemies within (traitors), without (Concordiat and Predators), and beyond (Chaos).

They have to perpetually fight against an onslaught of daemonic heresies, cheap knock-offs of space nazis, and a horde of Tyranid rip-offs in order to let the Imperium as a whole to live. That's at least got to count for something.

Their weaponry and specializations may vary, but their combined arms tactics and strategies often cover up each others' weaknesses and augment their strengths.

Explanation: The Armed Forces of Wachterland, despite its tiny size, is very well trained. All its men and women undergo the same rigorous training and serve under strict officers, comparable to those of special forces from other nations. The amount of written and physical tests required to be admitted into the army is almost mind-breaking, and as little as 500 to 800 recruits pass these yearly. The officer academy is a few notches more stressful and difficult. Once already in the military, they are subject to more drills, simulations, and even field duty in high-risk areas of the world.

As a result, the soldiers are hard to break, combat ready, and well trained and equipped. There are some issues with morale, as most haven't experienced actual combat, and those that have experienced particularly harsh battle are usually either traumatised or turned into what people call "feelingless psychopaths".

Soldiers in Olthar are literally born to fight. They are genetically engineered to be physically superior than normal people and then raised from infancy within the military. During childhood, they undergo regular exercise routines to maintain their physical fitness, training to engender muscle memory and automatic responses with various weapons and fighting techniques, and psychological conditioning to form zealous loyalty to the crown and superior officers. By the time they reach fighting age, Oltharian soldiers act more like machines than people, mere cogs in the great war machine. The cybernetic enhancements also help.

Some of them are little more than a brain and some organs in a robotic body.

Most soldiers are trained pretty well (the few special forces have a 10 for skill, but only number a little over 5000.)

Discipline-7-Comrades

The discipline is strict but not constantly oppressive and the units at the private to senior NCO level are like one big family. The officers are rather more remote and the generals very much so.

Morale-7-Fierce for offence and 9-Jingoistic-for defence.

They fight well when attacking but even more so to defend their country from invasion.
