WorldVision Song Contest 63 | OOC | Signups CLOSED

Postby WorldVision Committee » Mon Feb 12, 2018 3:58 pm

(Re)-Introducing the Committee By-Elections!

With the unexpected and unfortunate resignation of Norjihan (AKA Normandy and Picardy) from the Committee due to other commitments, we are holding by-elections to fill his spot. Any player who has participated in WV62 is eligible. To apply, post your intent to do so in this thread- a statement/manifesto of who you are/what you intend for this contest is optional but definitely recommended.

Elections will be held at the same time as host voting, and anyone who has successfully participated in a WorldVision contest may vote.

A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

 1. To start, you must sign up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before the cutoff date. You won't be penalized if you sign up and don’t end up posting a song. You then post the song in the IC thread after a host vote (see previous contests to see what a "normal" post looks like).
 2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
 3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory, and other languages are encouraged.
 4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the Committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

 1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one edition in order to qualify to host a following edition. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic and fair result.
 2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
 3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
 4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
 5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the Committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
 6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
 7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
 8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if you do so and don't finish your entry by the deadline, you will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalized or not. You may also state that you are withdrawing from the contest on the OOC thread.
 9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee. If you'd like to edit something in after the deadline, please ask the Committee for permission first.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Kalosia, Togonistan, Todlichebujoku, Vartugia) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

Frida Grover will represent Britonisea at WV63!

Postby Britonisea » Mon Feb 12, 2018 4:01 pm

Just now, it has been announced by BITC that Frida Grover will be representing Britonisea at the 63rd WorldVision Song Contest with the song "Pyro" which is Britonish for "fire". This is only the second time that Britonisea will be sending a song fully in Britonish, with the first time being "Na Farar", a song which was sung by Sanna during the 56th WorldVision Song Contest. "Na Farar" became one of Britonisea's most successful entries, coming 5th place with 86 points - a huge achievement for the nation. Below, you will be able to see the chorus of the song;

Pyro, Pyro
Pyreux setsh laistigh ma corghv
V'hater mountereux raypd
Nacy xeno v'arán

Fire, Fire
Burning deep within my heart,
The hatred is growing fast,
I can't control the pain...

Frida is expected to sing her song for the first time during morning news this week on BITC, and will be singing in one of the emissions of Vha Mehldohivestoile 2018.

Mister X aims to make it two on the trot, with a song, "Finally", to the tune of, er, "Finally" by Cece Peniston (no, I'm not plagiarising; for the first time I actually have the chorus mentally mapped out already), which will celebrate our win.

We're not sure who's going to sing it. Rumours are that Filius wants to defend his crown, but this is unconfirmed.

WHF Veteran to Take on the WorldVision Song Contest

Image

MONTERRA—Natalia diMateu, better known under her stage name Alia M, has been announced as the Kalosian representative for the upcoming 63rd WorldVision Song Contest.

She previously won the 29th Festival dele Melodie Kalosiane (Kalosian Melody Festival), which has acted as the island nation's national preselection for the World Hit Festival since its debut in the 7th edition. She performed her winning song, "Volandu" (Flying), at the 35th World Hit Festival in Junteräpten, Britonisea. Despite being one of the favourites, at the close of the voting she ended up 6th out of 13 participants.

At WorldVision, however, she will be singing a new song. Radiu-Televižju Kalosia revealed this morning that Alia M will be singing "Angels", an English-language pop song at the international competition.

Following internal re-organizations within RTI and a period of negotiation regarding Izmedu's ability to sustain WorldVision participation, RTI is proud to announce that Izmedu makes its return to WorldVision after a one-edition break.

Image

"Welcome to Izmepisma. 9 songs have been chosen out of a field of hundreds waiting for their shot at Izmedu's WorldVision baton, but only one song can remain standing"

Following an internal selection win with Luka Brekalo & Tatjana's "A Way Out" in WV61, Izmeduan fans were anticipating that Izmedu's would-be WorldVision 62 participation would see the country try to rally with the sails of the recent win. However, RTI faced an unexpected controversy that led to a temporary closing of the channel during WorldVision 62 and the 37th World Hit Festival. Following intense negotiations between staff and the Izmeduan government, RTI was allowed a reprieve in its operations and thus, Izmedu's state broadcaster returns ready for competition and along with it, brings back the Izmepisma format for the first time since the celebratory WorldVision 60.

Focusing on a push that would try to stake out potential directions for the Izmeduan entry, RTI would field about 100 entries following a closed, industry-only call for potential Izmepisma entries. Following two intense televoting-only rounds as per the past format, the Izmepisma grand final sits ready with 9 songs that are now in the hands of international juries like yourselves. These 9 songs now stand before you, ready for your votes.

THE OFFICIAL PLAYLIST FOR IZMEPISMA

Song #1
Zarko - Hate Me
Tune: Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE.

Song #2
Sara Novak & Juraj Gundic - Don't Let Go
Tune: Lea Castel & Slimane - Abimee

Song #3
Lara Husnjak ft. Platinosi – Beznadežan
Translation: A Dead-End
Tune: Mihaela Marinova ft. Pavell & Venci Venc' – Listata Padat

Song #4
Gordan Glavas & Marko Delic - Ćemo biti racuadarti
Translation: Will We Be Remembered?
Tune: Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro – Non mi avete fatto niente

Song #5
Marta Atlan - Maja vjera
Translation: My Faith
Tune: Marija Sestic - Rijeka bez imena

Song #6
Lana Vukusic - El paradais
Translation: Paradise
Tune: Francesca Michielin – L'amore esiste

Song #7
Vanesa Cesarec – Sweet Release
Tune: Isabell Otrebus – Delirium

Song #8
Hana Simic – Last Chances
Tune: Danielle Bradbery - Potential

Song #9
La SuperGrupa – Loše
Translation: Bad
Tune: Jessie J & Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj – Bang Bang

International juries will vote by ranking their top 7 songs in the following format. 12 points to their favorite, 10 to their 2nd, 8 to their 3rd, then 6, 4, 2, and 1 points for 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively. Your least favorite 2 songs will not receive any votes. To vote, simply send a TG to Izmedu with the format (and if you have a national final, let me know and I will vote for yours in return).

The final result of Izmepisma will be determined through a 50/50 split of the international jury and public vote. The amount of points that the public will give out will be determined by how many international juries vote for the national final.

DEADLINE FOR VOTES: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24th, 9:00PM PST

Essentially. You find a song that you like on the internet (mainly, people use YouTube) and you write your own lyrics over the tune. When the host is picked, the IC thread will go up, and like the others, you post your lyrics alongside the link to the tune. In order to make it more "roleplay" you might want to add staging to your song or background behind the IC artist you choose to sing your lyrics. So, yes.

Yes, Normandy and Picardy are back! I know, I can't believe it either

Hello, and welcome to A Song For The World, coming to you live from Caen, Normandy and Picardy! 100s of acts were eager to have a shot at the ultimate crown. There were bad acts, there were drag acts, and there were diamonds. Tonight, 8 of those acts will battle it out for a place in the biggest music contest of them all, WorldVision, and for the ticket to go to wherever the contest is going to be held this time. After a long hiatus, we are back and, we hope you agree, stronger than ever.

Tonight's show will feature 8 young acts fighting, first with a cover of well known Normand song, a duet with a famous singer - either Normand or international (OOC: lucky for you, you don't have to deal with this) - and then they will perform an original song specially composed with this competition in mind. Then, it will be up to a mixture of two juries, national and international, and the Normand public, 50/50, to decide who will go to WorldVision. The juries will each give 12pts to their favourite, 10pts to their second, then 8pts, 6pts, 4pts, 3pts, 2pts and then 1pt for their least favourite. These will be combined, and 300 points given out proportionally based on how much of the jury vote each act recieved. The STE today confirmed the long-awaited return for Ekoz to participate in the WorldVision Song Contest. The broadcaster also announced that 'Ekoes Soekke vor Vinna', the national selection responsible for some of Ekoz's most successful entrants, would be returning and replacing it's current, hugely popular format 'MelodieFestivålen'.

The format of ESVV will remain extremely similar to that of MelodieFestivålen; eight performers will battle it out to win the right to represent Ekoz to the world, however it is unknown if resident MelFest host Andars Kristiansson will spearhead the Saturday night classic.

The broadcaster also announced the eight artists and songs, with each debuting on STE Radio One's breakfast show, "Godmorgøn med Mikas' receiving positive reviews from both fans and critics alike.

'Ekoes Soekke vor Vinna' will return to Ekozian and international television screens in two weeks.

Actually no, Darkmania is busy with... "stuff", so therefore he sends me to you to be your puppet. You are now for this time a Master, not as a Puppet.

As of this, in forcing a "fan favorite" of WHF to "sing" a song". I'll only say one thing.

"SLAVIE FOR WORLDVISION FINALLY CONFIRMED!!!!!!!!11111111111111"
This is a puppet for Darkmania.

This is mostly only used for joke RP with"of the best English that is of perfect". If I accidentally use this instead of my main, then blame Canada.
