Posting this for Tayner since he's unable to do it himself.

Character Name: Gunter 'Gunny' Smith

Age: 20 (estimate)

Appearance:

Karma: Lawful Neutral

Equipment: Cargo pants, grey shirt, blue jacket, 32 caps, hunting shotgun, 28 shells, 10mm Pistol, 18 10mm rounds, boots, hunting knife, backpack, extra changes of socks, shit, and underwear.

SPECIAL:

S: 6
P: 6
E: 6
C: 6
I: 6
A: 6
L: 4

Personality: While generally a southern gentleman, he doesn't respond kindly to threats or thievery. He generally follows a moral compass, and honors his commitments and promises. It's not hard to get on his good side with a genuine show of friendship, and he is loyal to those who befriend and help him.

Motives: Caps, indirectly helping providence, making the region stable.

Backstory: Born in Providence to parents who didn't care, Gunter would find himself orphaned soon after he could count to 10. He would end up a beggar, and eventually grow old enough to scavenge, loot, and barter. After a while of living a poor life and working odd jobs he would find a 10mm pistol in a safe hidden in the rubble of an old red rocket. The weapon would serve him better than the various blunt poles and rusty knives he had used before, and by age of about 14 he found himself prospecting in the more dangerous areas outside of Providence.

On a bartering run through the Providence markets he found himself in the wake of a holdup, a dissatisfied customer holding a scrap merchant at gunpoint. He would shoot the robber dead, and the merchant would reward him well. With a better buying and selling deal worked out, and being employed part time as a guard, he would find some stability, being able to put a roof that keeps the rain out over his head for the first time since he was a child. This was also when he received his nickname, for being so handy with his gun.
After a few years he would end up as a mercenary under the employment of a caravaner. They would travel to Haven, but ambushed by tribals on the way. Gunny would fight alongside another mercenary and caravaner, and they would hold off the Sawyers for what felt like hours. The ambusers would eventually give up, and retreat, although not after the Brahmin and other mercenary ended up as corpses. The caravaner would pay Gunny double their agreement for saving his life, and the two would return to Providence with what wares they could carry.

Gunny would end up buying a heavier weapon, his 10mm pistol almost not having enough stopping power for the tribals that ambushed him. The hunting shotgun would see him through a few more years acting as a part time lawman in Providence, and as a part time bounty hunter. His work would see him all over Louisiana, but he still finds home in Providence, him taking residence in one of the town's many inns when he's there. He has a minor reputation as a mercenary, and he does his best to stay out of trouble.

Karma: Neutral

Equipment:
  • Reinforced Leather Armor
  • 9mm Glock 19
  • 38. Detective Special
  • Assault Carbine
  • Binoculars
  • Bow and arrows
  • Combat knife
  • Small survival knife

SPECIAL: (40 Points)

S:7
P:6
E:8
C:5
I:5
A:7
L:2

Personality: Daniel is someone of moral values. He tends to stay away from Conflict whenever he can and has always tried to do the right thing when he can. However, in most occasions if pushed to the brink he will fight to defend himself, only to promptly get away from conflict yet again. One of the many reasons he came to Louisiana was because of that.

Motives:Live a simple life, away from war and conflict.

Backstory:
Born in the Hub as a fatherless child, Daniel and his mother Eliza tried to live a normal life with what they had. The NCR provided protection yes, but Daniel's mother worked day and night as a cleaner to make ends met, with Daniel working as a scrap collector from the age of 8. Daniel grew learning to appreciate what little he and his mother had, a small house in the outskirts along with the rest of the poorer population, gecko soup, a twin sized bed he and his mother slept in, and only a few toys. Eliza tried her best to educate Daniel with what she knew, school not being a luxury she could afford for her son. She taught Daniel to be a humble person, appreciating what he had, and no matter what, keep their head down and avoid confrontation. Daniel learned this the harsh way when tax collectors arrived one day and forcefully entered their home, looking for every penny or cap they could find. Daniel lost his temper when a policemen slapped his mom when she said she had nothing else. Daniel beat up the cop senselessly until he was subdue, beaten, and taken to jail. He was 16 at the time.

Daniel spent 6 months in jail before his trial. His mother lamenting the unfortunate fate of his son. The day of the trial came, the judge was fairly sympathetic to the kid, especially seeing his mother crying right in the courtroom. Daniel was given two choices, forced labor at an NCR correctional facility in Baja, or service as an NCR soldier.

With force labor not being very tentative, Daniel took the offer and on to military service he went, much to his mothers distraught. Daniel was in boot camp for 3 months before being sent to the Mojave wasteland for service. He wrote to his mother on a daily basis and sent nearly all of his pay to her. Daniel fit in military life quite well, first serving in the Mojave Outpost, letting caravans in and out. Then being sent to places such as McCarran, fighting against Fiends, Searchlight to protect it from the Legion, Golf to fight Great Khans, then finally Nelson to protect it from the Legion once again. Alongside things such as the death rate of troopers, the fact a raider army called Caesar's Legion was kicking their ass, and his mother dying due to heart failure Daniel grew more and more hateful of the Mojave, the NCR, the Legion, everything if he was honest. He didn't want to fight for a country that had pushed him and his mother down, and he didn't want to protect a region where the locals spat on his face. So was his decision to leave the NCR, setting a deal with a Caravan at the other side of the Colorado, ditching almost anything that would tell he was NCR, save for his dog tags and his weapons, he crossed the Colorado on a quiet night, joining the Louisianan Route Caravan as a mercenary.

Barely making it out Legion territory without blowing his cover, Daniel took the name of "Joe" and continued along with the Caravan. Cruising through Texas towards the coast, fighting against both Raiders and mutants he continued with the Caravan, while the numbers slowly dwindled.
Eventually, with only 8 out of the original 50 person operation the Caravan arrived to Louisiana, "Joe" found himself aghast at this new region, and still with the Caravan he visited places like quite familiarly named Hub, also known as Lafayette, Providence, and several other towns. Byt the end, the Caravan had made quite the profit and the mercenaries including Joe were dismissed with quite the gain of 5,000 caps, all thanks to only 5 of the original 20 mercenaries being left alive. Joe quickly made his way to buy a horse, supplies and be on his merry way to explore the surroundings. Working as a fortune seeker, and traveler. He learned the layout of the region, towns, cities, where to not go, etc. He worked as a gun for hire, a bouncer, a bodyguard, and several other things, growing his fortune as time went on. The day came where Joe decided to settle for a permanent home and work, going to work as a hunter and trapper at the outskirts of The Hub. He bought a cabin from an old man at the outskirts of town and made it his own.

Joe now works as a hunter, trapper, and time from time as guide for anyone new to the region. Going in and out of the Hub. No one knows his true identity, simply knowing him as Joe, and he would rather keep it that way.

That's too easy for a profligate. A crucifixion is more fitting, especially for a coward who ran from his own army.

Using the OOC of other RPs as samples isn't appreciated, considering I then have to hunt your posts down. There's a number of noticeable spelling and grammatical errors in your bio, in addition to some other problems.

How exactly could he come in contact with a caravan on the other side of the river? Any deal between an NCR trooper and a caravaner from the Caesar side of the river would reek of a trap. Why wouldn't the caravan master just sell him to the Legion? Or why wouldn't the Legion intercept him before he ever got close to the other side of the river?

That aside, its known that Legion territory is pretty clear of bandits, and likely also mutants. Considering the Legion owns practically the entire route the Caravan follows, I don't see how they could have lost over 80% of their group. Not to mention the less people there are in the caravan, the more trading goods they would have to leave behind. Not to mention that if the route were so dangerous, why would anyone take it in the first place?

There are other problems, but I see these as the most glaring ones.

Character Name: Marcus Junius Brutus (Formerly known as John Bloch)

Appearance:

Karma: Good

Equipment:
SPECIAL: (40 Points)

S: 5
P: 5
E: 3
C: 9
I: 8
A: 7
L: 3

Personality: One of the Legions few mediators, Brutus prefers to fight with words than with swords or guns. Brutus is a devout Mormon, and while he respects the Cult of Mars as it helps inspire the men he has considered preaching to his soldiers. He is kind to those who surrender, and is always willing to honor any deals. However, should Brutus be double crossed, or his enemy refuse to surrender, he will show no mercy.

Brutus sees a lot of promise that could be reaped from Louisiana, however as Brutus said upon scouting the land "The swamp will need to be drained." He, unlike his fellow Frumentarii sees promise in the Shaw Clan while viewing the Royaume as vile and disgusting, and refers to them as Gauls. "So long as the Imperialist Gauls live, a permanent peace is impossible." Brutus hopes to capitulate the Hub and Providence since he sees great potential from their warriors. He also hopes that should peace be established in Louisiana, it will open a major trade route to the east. Thus allowing the Legion to get around the Mid-western BOS.

Motives: Convert the Tribes to join the Legion. Find the rumored treasure. Keep the Centuria from falling apart.

Backstory:
Born in New Canaan in the year of 2249, to pastor Gabriel Bloch and his wife Emma. Like his father before him, and many others in the town, John was raised to be a Missionary. He was taught how to communicate with the tribes of Utah, how to handle his guns, and above all else, the spread word of God. Once John was a teenager, word of the Legion reached the small town and with that tales of Joshua Graham reached his ears. These stories were an inspiration to John, and soon Joshua became a hero of his. He would learn some Latin phrases from some of these tails.

Once John was eighteen, he set out as a missionary to spread the word of God. John decided to follow in the steps of his hero, and take I-15 along with Route 89 to Arizona. After a year of working as a missionary, he was suddenly ambushed in 2268 and taken as a slave of the Legion. Seeing how well trained he was, they decided to throw him into the arena. John was able to survive against most of the other slaves that he was forced against, even defeating a Twin Mothers tribal warrior with a machete. John had gained a nickname, "Quick Foot" and small fame inside the Legion, thus some Legionaries wanted to take a shot at him. John was able to defeat a few recruits, but he finally met his match when a centurion challenged him. The fight gained a small following, and soon Joshua had heard word of this boy from New Canaan.

The fight would start on a blazing afternoon. John walked into the arena unarmed, but the centurion had been given a machete. The cheers from the crowd grew as John started to panic. Thanks to his quick feet, he was able to keep the centurion out of reach, but was slight slashed a few times. John was soon backed into a corner and against the wall. The fight came a sudden stop when Joshua shouted to the boy. Whether out of pity, or to see how strong the centurion was, Joshua removed the magazine from one of his .45 auto pistols and tossed the pistol into the arena. John taking advantage of the distraction dove around the centurion and grabbed the pistol. Not a single round was left in it, but in New Canaan missionaries were trained how to use their pistols in almost every combat scenario, including close quarters. John flipped the gun so he held it by the barrel, and waited for the right moment. Soon enough, the moment to strike came when John taunted his enemy. Quickly taking advantage, John pistol-whipped the centurion across the face, knocking him to the ground. John then proceeded, in an act of adrenaline, to bash the man's skull in with the pistol. John then finished him with the machete.

Following this, John was presented before Joshua. Joshua untied John's restraints and told him to sit. He handed John a book, the Bible. The two read scripture for the next couple of days, until Joshua decided that John would become a recruit. They would continue reading along with Joshua teaching John him as much Lain as possible. Eventually John would not see Joshua for a while, but some of his belongings were returned like his bible and later his missionary clothes. After a while, John was sent into battle for the first time and was given the name of Marcus. When Marcus went into battle for the first time, he had expected to wield a great blade but instead was given a rusted machete. Not only that, but he was just ambushing caravans in NCR territory, not the most grand of battles.

Eventually word of a NCR infantry corp was spotted further down the road Marcus was raiding. While his decanus wanted to attack head on, Marcus had a different idea. Using his irresistible charisma, and relation to God, Marcus was able to buy some brahmin from a farmer. Using some manure, duct tape, along with a c-4 plastic explosive he stole from one of the earlier caravans. One he had all his supplies, Marcus began to lay his trap. He let the brahmin stay in the middle of the road, with manure laid all around and taped the c-4 to the underbelly of the brahmin. The NCR spotted the brahmin and had a small scout squad investigate. Once they were in range, the c-4 was detonated, much to the surprise of the other Legionary recruits. With the great explosion killing several troops and causing the rest to be distracted, the Legion descended upon them.

The infantry was cut down, with the legion only taking a few casualties. Eventually a few privates surrender, hoping to be spared. The rest of his brothers wanted to see the prisoners executed or crucified, but Marcus a different idea. He allowed four of the five prisoners to be beheaded, but the five would serve a role. Marcus cut the last prisoner free, but before doing so Marcus told the prisoner to give the highest commanding officer he could find a message. "Tell them, the Caesar is coming. Si vis pacem, para bellum." Marcus gave the prisoner a small slash on the cheek to remember what had happened before sending him on his way. While Marcus' decanus wanted to give a different message, congratulated Marcus for what had been done.

Eventually, after returning home, Marcus would be called before Caesar directly. Marcus had never seen the man, only grand stories. Marcus was brought before Caesar, with Vulpes Inculta along side him. Caesar congratulated Marcus for the plan, and decided to agree to Vulpes request to have Marcus be promoted to decanus and join the Frumentarii. From then, Marcus was granted a last name, which decided as Brutus with hopes of joining Caesar's Council. Marcus would go on to serve in many covert ops in the Frumentarii using his silver tongue and knowledge all the way. He was granted new battle armor in case he should need to go into battle along with a new blade which he named after his God.

Brutus would hear word of the First Battle of Hoover Dam as he was busy traveling to Louisiana. For his actions in assisting Vulpes, Caesar and Vulpes both agreed that they needed a "backdoor". Louisiana had been a major expansion issue for the Legion for several years now and decided to send some Frumentarii to open that door. Brutus arrived late in the year of 2277 and has remained there as one of the head leaders. For his actions of holding the position together, Brutush was granted the title of Centurion to act as one of two of their base. With the use of Brutus' charisma they have made several notable agreements with some of the bigger tribes, and Brutus feels he's close to getting the Shaw Clan. All the while, searching for this treasure the Legion desires.

Now Brutus is setting out for the Shaw Clan once more, in hopes of convincing them to finally join the Legion. Only through getting all the major tribes can they hope to defeat both the Hub and Providence.

Nationstates Name: Dalria

"There are no friends in business, simply winners and losers. We are Winners." - Thomas Depaul

Faction name: Nouvelles Routes Trading Company

Faction Leader: Thomas and Rachel DePaul

Population: 185

Military: 42 men; personal mercenaries/caravan guards to the NR Company and DePaul family. Most men are armed with low caliber rifles and pistols with a large range of melee weapons to protect caravans. The DePaul families personal guard usually are equipped with precision rifles, but these are very few and trusted men.

Faction Bio:

In 2098, Duke DePaul was born in a tiny shack along the riverside. He came from nothing but a poor family of subsistence farmers, simply trying to make it by. After a bad harvest, the DePaul's could barely feed any of their eight children. One day, two men approached the tin shack, as Duke was the oldest he was set out to entertain his brothers & sisters while his parents spoke with the strangers. After several minutes, his teary eyed mother picked him up and squeezed him in a gesture of remorse. Duke, being the strongest, oldest, and most well-fed had been sold to slavers by his own family. He understood, his family needed, so he wouldn't argue and go on with the gesture as fortune for his family.

Luckily, Duke didn't end up as a cannibals next meal or perverts toy. Duke was sold to a man in Midway, a merchant looking for a boy to simply run errands. The merchant had bought Duke for 300 caps, immediately putting him to work shoveling brahmin shit from the stable. Duke realized this was a great opportunity, he was living better than he was back in the tin shake. After two years in service of the merchant, he was offered his freedom. Instead of embracing the idea he questioned, "are you in lieu of a steward?". The merchant rejoiced, having already become attached to the young boy. Duke was taught the way of the trade; bartering, mapping, and general business routine. As the merchant grew older, Duke was given the title Carvaneer, steering the sole pack-brahmin the merchant had.

Duke gained a reputation, he was not only thrifty but ambitious as well as a great shot with a rifle. Nothing stood in his way, the small merchant outfit always had its goods on time. Duke knew how to maneuver the swamps and get to where he was going, once he got their he knew exactly what to say to acquire the best deal. After five more years, the merchant passed away. He named Duke was the sole inheritor of his pack-brahmin and small hut/warehouse. Duke did not back down from here, he turned the one brahmin into five and had several caravaneers and mercenaries in his employment. He caught the eye of several large trading companies in Midway, they either wanted to buy him out or kill him. Both options turned out to be unsuccessful and soon Nouvelles Routes Trading Company was formed. Several generations later, Michael DePaul took over the company when his father passed away. He soon began to employ some of the most ruthless efforts the company had ever been involved in such as the employment of raiders to disrupt caravan lines. The company continued to grow, despite the animosity of the larger merchant companies.

When his twin children came of age, he retired. Leaving the company in the hands of DePaul twin's. With their combined traits the two hope to garner wealth using their charisma and ruthlessness. They will do anything to see their company succeed, the merchants who looked down upon humiliated, and the city of Midway under their control.

Territory:
Midway Company Compound; PineVille High School.
Trading Post at Red River Landing
Trading Post at Stonewall
Trading Post at Lockport
Company office in The Hub
Company Office in Providence
Company Office in The Royaume

Goals: Of course the pursuit of caps; beyond that prestige for the DePaul family and company as well as the control of the city of Midway.

Anything else we should know?:

The Company owns two steamboats and fifty-five brahmin. The compound contains a gunsmith, a laboratory, and several greenhouses; allowing the company to produce some of its own goods which includes munitions, pipe-weaponry, and a wide range of chems.

Personality: Thomas is the epitome of a playboy. A silver-tongued, party-loving, ambitious, womanizer who only cares about himself, his sister, and the caps in his pocket. He can lie through his teeth and seem like the most genuine man you've ever met; which he does often. He doesn't care who he has to lie to, rob, or murder to get his way. The spoiled brat will often throw tantrums and sulk if he doesn't get his way. Thomas is also very impulsive and passionate. Addicted to nearly any vice you can name; name a chem, he's tried them all.

Motives: Pure profit.

Backstory: Born into the wealthy DePaul family, he was bred for the higher class. He was a rowdy, spoiled, and undisciplined child; only his twin sister could get him to do any task. He was surely ambitious and a born leader though, often organizing caravan routes with his father at a young age. In his early teens, his father sent him to manage the Hub office and handle all administrative tasks from the city. He gladly accepted the position, knowing he could successfully prove his worth to his father.

Although he did well, he turned to booze and chems. With the generous monthly stipend his father sent him, he spent countless hours and numerous caps on "social" gatherings in the name of company PR. These would usually end with a jet-fueled incapacitation or an orgy with company secretaries and local woman. During this time, Thomas also gained some connections with crime families out of Vendetta through his chem dealings and gambling addiction. He soon worked his own side deals, using his father's caravans to secretly move chems.

When his father took ill, he returned to the Company Compound. He knew his father was not going to pull through the fever so he made arrangements for the company re-management. He announced that he and his sister would now be the new CEO's of the company. They have now been in charge for a year, profits have soared and company enthusiasm is through the roof... Thomas is going to try to lead the company into greatness using his charisma and unlawful contacts. He will, do whatever it takes for the Nouvelles Routes Trading Company to succeed. Although Thomas has taken to the chem business and began brewing and whole-selling jet & psycho as well as weaponry.

Appearance:

Karma: Neutral

SPECIAL: (40 Points)

S: 3

E: 4
C: 7
I: 9
A: 4
L: 5

Personality: More methodological than her twin brother; she is the brains of the operation while he is the face. She has a brilliant intellect, which makes her a dangerous woman. She is also slightly more caring than her brother, often going out of her way to protect their employees. She spends hours reading, garnering knowledge on anything she can. She can read people very well, often playing on that to figure out their true motives.

Motives: Prestige of the company and the DePaul name, the general welfare of her brother, and profit.

Backstory: The twin sister of Thomas. Once again she grew up in the wealthy merchant family; being spoiled with every amenity the family could afford in the waste. Yet instead of 'spoiled' personality wise, she understood that everything she was given was worked hard for by her ancestors. Her father simply wanted his princess to be raised as the perfect trophy wife, yet she wanted more. While her brother went to work with their father, she stole books from the library and began educating herself. Even as her mother scolded her, she continued to be independent and attempted to win over her father's trust to allow her to accompany him on business. This never happened, she was constantly caged in the sphere of lady-like elegance. Over and over she would fix her brothers mess ups and he would get the credit. As angry as she was with this, she loved her brother. He was the only person she truly cared about, the two became almost inseparable their teenage years.

Thomas was sent away, father decided he should manage the company chapter in the hub. This hurt her heart; one she couldn't live without her brother and two she wanted to be able to run her own chapter as well! Her mother began prepping her for a life of marriage, she constantly refused. Their father wanted her to marry one of the sons of the more powerful merchant families, yet Rachel attempted her best to screw the courtships up. She heard rumors about her brothers mismanagement of funds through father and his associates whispers. She prayed for his return; this soon came but under bad circumstances. Her father became gravely ill and Thomas returned, different this time. She knew he would take control of the company soon enough, she quickly convinced him to name her his partner in running the company. She is known the brains of the operation and keeps Thomas in line... she will do anything to see the company succeed and see control of Midway to the DePaul family. Rachel dislikes Thomas's turn towards Illicit dealings and tries to keep company resources on delivering trade goods; not weapons and chems.

Anything else we should know?:

Yes, Lannisteresque taboo affair.

An interesting idea to make his karma good rather than evil. It makes sense though, given his upbringing. I do have a couple things I'd like to say, however. First and foremost, there were a number of spelling mistakes throughout the bio that I'd like you to keep in mind for future posts. Secondly, I don't know that Marcus would be able to acquire a disguise as a member of the Royaume's Royal Guard. They are a small and prestigious organization, and it would be difficult even for a Frumentarii to infiltrate. Lastly, this is my fault but I forgot to remove the mentions of a treasure that the Legion is after. That was in my earlier drafts for this RP, but I've since removed them. Other than the stuff mentioned above, everything looks good.

(I am curious why he dislikes the Royaume so much, though?)

As far as I can tell you fixed everything that I wanted you to, so accepted.

Ah, shoot. Those classic spelling mistakes. I’ll go through tonight and correct those, thanks for bringing that up.

I plan on explaining why he’s hate the Royal in the IC. Along with that I forgot I was going to change it to palace guard, but instead I’ll just have him be a peasant or something as his disguise.

I've updated the quest board to include most of the available quests to begin with.

Decided I'd change my app to just be a Frumentarius, and drop the Explorer complications.

Planning on app'ing for one of his comrades soon as well.
Do you think you know me?

The one I linked above, yes, the one I'm planning, no.

Sorry about this, but I don't have the time to play this RP; I have 4 active RPs and 4 soon-to-start ones already (most of them on other sites).

I'm not sure. I don't think we have enough people to start, and not much is going on.

I'm still down for this, it'd suck if it died now.
If anyone askes where we were Saturday at 14:30, we were at The Pub, understand?
