2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup

Postby Trans-Dniesters » Fri Nov 17, 2017 2:44 am

The Pridnestrovian Cup is one of the most prestigious competitions in the Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States of Pridnestrovia. It is an annual knockout competition for men's domestic Pridnestrovian football. It was first played during the 1948-49 season and is generally considered the oldest football competition in Pridnestrovia, predating the Pridnestrovian footballing league by eleven years (the Pridnestrovian Top Division, then the highest tier of Pridnestrovian football, was established in 1958 and commenced play one year later). The competition is open to all teams playing from the first tier to the fourth tier of Pridnestrovian football (the fourth tier is called the State Leagues and is divided geographically into three actual leagues in Pridnestrovia, Ixania, and Hatay respectively) for a grand total of 100 teams competing. Winning the Pridnestrovian is considered as a great achievement for any team, on the same level as winning the Pridnestrovian Super League. Record winners CSKA Tiraspol, who have won the Cup a total of seventeen (17) times, are the defending champions from the 2021-22 season. Can they defend their cup or will another team come up and win it all?

The first three rounds are the Preliminary Rounds, in which teams from the fourth tier (currently the Pridnestrovian, Ixanian, and Hatay State Leagues) compete against each other to determine who gets to join the teams from the first to third tiers in the so-called "Proper Rounds." Teams enter the preliminary rounds based on their standings the previous season.

2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup First Preliminary Round
The twelve lowest teams in the State Leagues (the four lowest teams in each of the three leagues irrespective of their records in a combined table) enter the competition at the first preliminary round. The six winners of this round will advance to the second preliminary round, where they will be joined by the rest of the teams from the State Leagues.
VfL Osthaus-Feuerstadt 02 4–1 Antakyaspor II
Titania Iupiter 3–0 Aviapromet Olimp II
Adana Karnakspor 4–0 Zvezda Apollinarov
Herzog-Philipp-Stadt 2–2 CSKA Muktarbariyevo (3–2 AET)
Chernomorets Bratsk II 2–3 Gumus Özturkiyye
Sumzat Cumhuriyespor 0–0 FK Pridnestrovskaya Gavan II (2–1 AET)

In a somewhat surprising turn of events, all four teams from the Pridnestrovian State League were knocked out of the Pridnestrovian Cup almost immediately after entering. Three of the Pridnestrovian sides did put up a good fight against their opponents, with two of them even managed to force the contest into the extra time where they both unfortunately lost anyway. The same cannot be said for Zvezda Apollinarov, who were smashed 4-0 by Adana Karnakspor from Hatay. That should give the Pagans some confidence as they head into the next preliminary round.

2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup Second Preliminary Round
The remaining 34 teams from the State Leagues join the six winners of the First Preliminary Round to create a field of forty (40) teams. They will all battle it out in the second preliminary round until twenty remain, and then those twenty remaining teams will fight until ten remains to join the 54 clubs in the Pridnestrovian Super League, Pridnestrovian National Premier Football League, and Pridnestrovian Top League waiting for them in the First Round Proper.
Eggolsheimer-Neuseser Kickers 0–2 Arsenal Tuzla
Gumus Özturkiyye 1–3 Sheriff Tiraspol II
Al-Manama 2–3 Tennis Dacia Althaus
Derinkuyuspor II 0–0 Poveda Vlaha (0–1 AET)
Traktor Bender 4–2 Bierburger SV II
Baltika Tukums 0–1 Adana Karnakspor
Red Star Vitosha 2–0 Jinarspor
Lokomotiv Dnistrolvovsk 5–2 Mittgensteiner SV
Hekel Teke 3–3 Unterspielsdorf FC (4–3 AET)
Olimpica Vanatori 3–2 Palmyraspor
Titania Iupiter 4–7 Admiral Novorossiysk II
Politehnica Mosneni 3–2 Dimashqspor
SG 08 Chemie Mitwitz 3–3 Avtozavod Pecineaga (3–3 AET) (3–0 pen.)
Incirlikspor 5–3 Herzog-Philipp-Stadt
VfL Osthaus-Feuerstadt 02 1–1 Metallurgist Dnistropavlovsk (2–2 AET) (6–7 pen.)
Nickel Norilsk 1–0 Chernomorets Vladikarpaty
Nickel Novorossiysk 2–3 Teuschnitzer SC
Sumzat Cumhuriyespor 1–1 Union Rheinburg II (1–2 AET)
Nickel Divnogorsk 1–0 Amzaceaspor II
Poveda Umayevsk 3–1 Shakhtyor Novosverdlovsk

Surprising nobody at all, only one of the teams from the First Preliminary Round survived the second preliminary, and that is Adana Karnakspor. Looks like the Pagans did take faith in their performance against Zvezda Apollinarov, and while they didn't smash their opponents once again, a single goal was more than enough to take them through to the Third and final Preliminary Round.

2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup Third Preliminary Round
Twenty (20) teams become ten (10). These ten teams will advance to the First Round, where the rest of the teams from the first to third tiers of Pridnestrovian football await them.
Admiral Novorossiysk II 1–0 Metallurgist Dnistropavlovsk
Incirlikspor 2–2 SG 08 Chemie Mitwitz (2–2 AET) (4–2 pen.)
Adana Karnakspor 0–1 Nickel Divnogorsk
Lokomotiv Dnistrolvovsk 3–3 Politehnica Mosneni (4–4 AET) (3–1 pen.)
Union Rheinburg II 3–3 Hekel Teke (3–5 AET)
Sheriff Tiraspol II 3–3 Poveda Umayevsk (4–3 AET)
Poveda Vlaha 4–2 Tennis Dacia Althaus
Teuschnitzer SC 5–2 Nickel Norilsk
Olimpica Vanatori 4–3 Traktor Bender
Arsenal Tuzla 4–3 Red Star Vitosha

The dream ends here for Adana Karnakspor as a single goal from Nickel Divnogorsk knocks them out of the competition. In other news, the three reserve sides still playing in the competition fought long and hard for their place in the First Round proper, but for one of them it would be too much of an effort. Admiral Novorossiysk II barely squeezed past the Blacksmiths of Metallurgist Dnistropavlovsk thanks to a late goal from the young Rudolf Zhereyev, who really stands a chance to be called up to the senior side if he continues on his upward trajectory. (Zhereyev won't be able to play for the senior Admiral Novorossiysk side though because he has already appeared for Admiral II which constitutes a separate team in the eyes of the Pridnestrovian Cup rules). The other reserve sides went into extra time to decide their fates, and in the end, only one of them, Sheriff Tiraspol II, survived the challenge. Two goals at either half of extra time for Hatay side Hekel Teke knocked Union Rheinburg II out of the cup, and now we have the ten teams that will be joined by the 54 teams from the first, second, and third tiers of Pridnestrovian football in the First Round proper of the Pridnestrovian Cup.

2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup First Round
The first proper round of the Pridnestrovian Cup is now upon us. The ten surviving teams from the Third Preliminary Round join the 54 teams from the Pridnestrovian Super League, Pridnestrovian National Premier Football League, and Pridnestrovian Top League at this stage of the competition. This is where some clubs will gain fame and others infamy.
Opalgebirge Kesselburg 1–0 Rotor Dnistrosh
FC 23 August 1–0 Avion Topraisar
Elektrik Admiralnaya 0–0 Olimpia Strebsk (2–0 AET)
Baltika Belgorod 1–1 Arsenal Tuzla (1–1 AET) (4–2 pen.)
Vorpommern Nyqvist 2–3 Kesselburger Kickers
Aviapromet Olimp 1–0 Union Rheinburg
Admiral Novorossiysk II 2–2 Masyafspor (2–3 AET)
Spartak Tiraspol 4–1 Lokomotiv Novosverdlovsk
Wormatia Wewelsburg 2–0 Atom Zheleznogorsk
Larnakaspor 4–1 Fortuna Novonikolaysk
Dinamo Macaresti 4–3 Politehnica Pecineaga
Bierburger SV 2–2 Palatine Opals (2–2 AET) (3–4 pen.)
Metallurgist Beledor 1–1 FK Sonolovichyrevko (2–1 AET)
Admiral Novorossiysk 4–1 Derinkuyuspor
FK Pridnestrovskaya Gavan 5–0 Teuschnitzer SC
Hekel Teke 4–2 Nickel Divnogorsk
Exiles FK 3–3 Olimpica Vanatori (3–3 AET) (3–4 pen.)
Antakyaspor 3–1 Unversitate Vanatori
CSKA Tiraspol 2–3 Raketa Palatinsk
Amzaceaspor 4–3 Spartak Sonolovichyrevko
Star City FC 0–1 Shakhtar Rheinburg
Dinamo Vitebsk 1–0 Bryan Bryansk
1895 Lekhwiya Pepuza 1–1 Zenit Vladiyug (1–1 AET) (4–5 pen.)

Chernomorets Bratsk 3–2 Renechev Revolution
Sheriff Tiraspol 3–1 Admiral Tuzla
Latakiaspor 4–2 Dnistro Dnistropavlovsk
Lokomotiv Dnistrolvovsk 2–4 Ufa Verkhovyansk
Incirlikspor 0–2 Szigetszentmiklos
Submarin Admiralnaya 0–2 Dinamo Bender
Dynamo Wismut 0–1 Neptunas Neptun

The biggest story of the first round is the shock elimination of the defending champions CSKA Tiraspol at the hands of Top League (third tier) side Raketa Palatinsk. CSKA had just sacked their former manager Ivan Krasnopresnensky and looked to be gaining ground in the PSL title race under Fleftic caretaker manager Arthur Robson, and they also looked good for this tie when goals from Wilfried Halberstam and Oleg Novikov in the first half looked to have decided the game in favor of the Army Club, but then Palatinsk staged a second half comeback which eventually ended in the Rocketmen's 20-year-old substitute striker Konstantin Demchenko heading home from a corner in the fifth minute of stoppage time to create what is arguably the most sensational giant-killing of all time.

Another significant result from the First Round is the elimination of the defending PSL champions, Fortuna Novonikolaysk, by Larnakaspor, who were only recently relegated to the Top League. And when we say eliminated, Fortuna weren't just simply eliminated by Larnaka; they were embarrassed out of the Pridnestrovian Cup. Granted, the Fortune Giants didn't field their strongest side for this competition as they had focused on Super League survival once again, but this was a gamble that didn't work. Fortuna's young Fleftic left back Park Min-ho scored a goal for the Fortune Giants but it was little more than a consolation goal with the score already 3-0 in favor of the Interceptors, and they also netted at the end of regulation time to settle the contest 4-1 in favor of Larnakaspor.

In other surprising results, former PSL champion and four-time Pridnestrovian Cup winners Rotor Dnistrosh were knocked out in the First Round by a single goal from Opalgebirge Kesselburg's Cornelius Wagner; Kesselburger Kickers shocked everyone by winning at the home of Vorpommern Nyqvist, generally considered to be a fortress for the Mountain Men; and Aviapromet Olimp, recently promoted to the Super League after winning the playoff against FC 23 August, triumphed against Union Rheinburg with Dimitar Shevchenko scoring the winning goal for the Aviators. This sets us up for a very interesting Second Round in which some of the favorites are now out of the picture. Who shall step in to take their place?

2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup Second Round
The sixty-four (64) teams of the First Round have become thirty-two (32). Some favorites like the defending champions CSKA Tiraspol and ten-tine winners Union Rheinburg have been eliminated while others like Sheriff Tiraspol and Admiral Novorossiysk are still standing strong. Who will advance and who will bow out?
Amzaceaspor 4–3 Palatine Opals
Dinamo Vitebsk 0–0 Elektrik Admiralnaya (1–2 AET)
Raketa Palatinsk 1–1 FK Pridnestrovskaya Gavan (2–2 AET) (4–3 pen.)
Olimpica Vanatori 2–3 Masyafspor
Torpedo Yeralenko 3–3 Kesselburger Kickers (3–4 AET)
Opalgebirge Kesselburg 1–3 Baltika Belgorod
Zenit Vladiyug 1–0 Latakiaspor
Metallurgist Beledor 0–1 Wormatia Wewelsburg
Spartak Tiraspol 1–0 Admiral Novorossiysk
Neptunas Neptun 0–5 Antakyaspor
FC 23 August 2–0 Dinamo Macaresti
Szigetszentmiklos 0–0 Dinamo Bender (1–0 AET)
Ufa Verkhovyansk 0–0 Sheriff Tiraspol (1–1 AET) (3–4 pen.)
Larnakaspor 4–1 Hekel Teke
Submarin Yeralenko 2–0 Chernomorets Bratsk
Aviapromet Olimp 1–2 Shakhtar Rheinburg

Where do we start with all these astonishing results? Let's start over at the Island of Saint Michael, where some sort of miracle that could be attributed to the good saint has happened: Szigetszentmiklos has just knocked out Dinamo Bender from the Pridnestrovian Cup! In the five times that the Saints have faced the Dynamos, Bender have come out triumphant five times out of five so Szigetszentmiklos were not expecting anything from this contest; instead, they got not only the win but also a spot in the Third Round of the Pridnestrovian Cup. And they have none other than their hometown hero, Szabolcs Attila, and his curling rocket of a shot in extra time to thank for their unexpected but welcome victory against Bender.

Other surprising results from the Second Round include Admiral Novorossiysk being eliminated by Spartak Tiraspol; Chernomorets Bratsk bowing out of the competition following a two-goal defeat away to Submarin Admiralnaya, who at this point are looking like very likely candidates for automatic relegation to the National Premier Football League; and FC 23 August knocking out Dinamo Macaresti thanks to the Beach Boys' Buyanese captain Kristupijas Dobrovolskas and Aleksey Nenechko. Metallurgist Beledor also had to endure a great shock in front of their home fans as visiting Wormatia Wewelsburg sneaked in an early goal and never looked like relinquishing their slim lead. And, while it wouldn't have been too much of a shock if they had defeated them, Ufa Verkhovyansk did manage to take Sheriff Tiraspol all the way to penalties but the day proved to be Sheriff's and Sheriff's only with Vladislav Bogomolov scoring the winning penalty to put the Super League leaders through to the Third Round of the competition.

As for the sides that killed some giants on their way to the Second Round, Raketa Palatinsk also advanced to the Third Round at the expense of FK Pridnestrovskaya Gavan but only after an enthralling penalty shootout which had everything from stratospheric misses to goalkeeper blunders to the absolute cheekiness of both a failed and successful Panenka. Aviapromet Olimp's journey to the Third Round was stopped by Shakhtar Rheinburg, who will hate that they now appeared to have avenged their city rivals Union against the team that knocked them out of the competition in the previous round. And Larnakaspor is still tearing up defenses although this time it was Hekel Teke of the Hatay State League on the wrong end of Larnakaspor's beating.

2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup Third Round
As the field narrows even further, more and more favorites are bowing out and more and more unlikely teams are becoming likelier than most to get something out of this competition. Who shall remain standing following the gauntlet that is the Third Round of the Pridnestrovian Cup?
Amzaceaspor 1–0 Wormatia Wewelsburg
Sheriff Tiraspol 3–1 Spartak Tiraspol
Masyafspor 0–0 Elektrik Admiralnaya (0–0 AET) (3–0 pen.)
Raketa Palatinsk 2–3 Antakyaspor
FC 23 August 4–2 Larnakaspor
Kesselburger Kickers 3–0 Baltika Belgorod
Szigetszentmiklos 2–2 Submarin Yeralenko (2–2 AET) (0–3 pen.)
Zenit Vladiyug 0–0 Shakhtar Rheinburg (0–0 AET) (4–5 pen.)

The Third Round saw the return of the Lesser Tiraspol derby, even if it was just for ninety minutes. Sheriff showed just how unstoppable they were not only in the Super League but also in the Pridnestrovian Cup as they started things off the right way (for them at least) when Urgan Spetsiuk scored the first goal in just three minutes, and Sheriff never looked back after that. Former Sheriff academy product Yaroslav Vestergard tapped home a consolation for Spartak, and while that goal will stand out for him as the goal he scored against the club that let him go after saying that he didn't "have a finishing touch to his game", the goal remains meaningless as Sheriff walked away 3-1 winners.

Five teams making some of the deepest cup runs in their history saw those runs ended this round: Wormatia Wewelsburg was finally stopped by a single goal from Amzaceaspor; Antakyaspor put an end to Raketa Palatinsk's dreams of appearing in their first ever Pridnestrovian Cup quarterfinal after a hard-fought battle which eventually ended with the Deacons as 3-2 winners; FC 23 August ended up being too much for Larnakaspor to handle; and both Szigetszentmiklos and Zenit Vladiyug saw their runs ended in penalties by Super League sides (Submarin Yeralenko and Shakhtar Rheinburg, respectively).

2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup quarterfinals
We now have an almost equal distribution of teams throughout Pridnestrovia, Ixania, and Hatay in the quarterfinals; it truly is anyone's game now, although some might be leaning towards Sheriff possibly taking home the double. Will it be, or will someone else take home that coveted Pridnestrovian Cup?
Masyafspor 1–0 Antakyaspor
Shakhtar Rheinburg 1–0 Submarin Yeralenko
Sheriff Tiraspol 3–2 Kesselburger Kickers
FC 23 August 4–2 Amzaceaspor

Masyafspor have appeared out of nowhere and are now on their way to their first ever Pridnestrovian Cup semifinal in the post-unification era. As a Top League side, no one simply paid any attention to them before, expecting them to be knocked out sometime in the previous three rounds. But here they are now, and while all they had to do was defeat fellow Top League side Antakyaspor by a single, that still puts them in the Pridnestrovian Cup semifinals. No mean feat for a third-tier side that had never reached this stage of the competition until now. Meanwhile, over at Shakhtar Stadium, Shakhtar Rheinburg also triumphed over Submarin Yeralenko, also by a single goal. But while the scoreline may suggest a boring game, it was anything but as both sides had plenty of opportunities to score; the both just didn't take it until Shakhtar's fiery Oontaznik winger Maicon Pacheco stroked home in the 85th minute to seal the Gasmen's passage to the semifinals.

The other two matches were equally nailbiting, edge-of-the-seat stuff. Sheriff Tiraspol and Kesselburger Kickers exchanged blows and goals until Sheriff's Khristo Khludensky's deflected shot decided it in favor of the Sheriffs. FC 23 August did a better job of things even though Amzaceaspor threatened to spoil it by the 70th minute or so, when the Beach Boys' 3-0 lead turned to a 3-2 scoreline in the span of just five minutes. Thankfully their captain Kristupijas Dobrovolskas came up trumps for them and headed home the deciding goal that restored a two-goal cushion for them and also killed off any momentum that Amzaceaspor may have gotten following those two rapid-fire goals.

So now the semifinals will be contested by FC 23 August, Masyafspor, Shakhtar Rheinburg, and Sheriff Tiraspol. Who shall face each other for the right to fight for the Pridnestrovian Cup in the final in Army Stadium?

2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup semifinals
This is the only time in the competition in which teams will face each other across two legs, one home and one away, for the right to progress to the Pridnestrovian Cup Final. The order in which the teams were drawn will determine who will play the home leg first.
Semifinal 1: Sheriff Tiraspol vs Shakhtar Rheinburg
Leg 1 @ Sheriff Stadium, Tiraspol, Transnistrian Socialist State
Sheriff Tiraspol 2–3 Shakhtar Rheinburg

Leg 2 @ Shakhtar Stadium, Rheinburg, Ixanian Socialist State
Shakhtar Rheinburg 1–1 Sheriff Tiraspol

Shakhtar Rheinburg advances to the Pridnestrovian Cup Final 4-3 on aggregate

This was Sheriff's semifinal to lose, and boy did they lose it. Sheriff manager Ignatius Braun took all the blame upon himself but while this certainly won't mean the sack for him as Sheriff still has a chance at winning the Pridnestrovian Super League title, the double is now well beyond his reach. Everyone knows the dangers of a 1-0 lead and Sheriff demonstrated just exactly why that is by surrendering two goals in the span of sixteen minutes, and while they managed to force an equalizer, Shakhtar's Isidor Kostenko decided the game in favor of the Gasmen after nipping in behind the Sheriff defense to side-foot home the cross from Balthazar Mereilles.

Sheriff went into the second leg knowing that they needed to score two goals and not concede any to Shakhtar if they wanted to advance to the Pridnestrovian Cup final, and while they did get a goal from Vladislav Bogomolov early in the game, Shakhtar's defense battened down the hatches and stopped Sheriff from finding that second decisive goal. In the end, Isidor Kostenko put the final nail in the coffin of Sheriff's double hopes as his 86th minute equalizer ensured Shakhtar's advancement to the Pridnestrovian Cup Final.

Semifinal 2: FC 23 August vs Masyafspor
Leg 1 @ NXTair Stadium, 23 August, Ixanian Socialist State
FC 23 August 4–3 Masyafspor

Leg 2 @ The Stadium on the Hill, Masyaf, Hatay Socialist State
Masyafspor 6–2 FC 23 August

Masyafspor advances to the Pridnestrovian Cup Final 9-6 on aggregate

Everyone expects FC 23 August to score loads of goals anytime they set foot on the pitch, and that is exactly what they did. The only problem is that on the day that they needed to score many goals, their opponents just happened to score more than they did. Four goals more on the night, in fact, and three goals more on aggregate. Just as no one expected Masyafspor to come charging out of the gates like this, they sprung their surprise and left the Beach Boys completely in the dust. Just for how long FC 23 August will have to recover from the shock of a Top League side scoring nine goals across two legs against them (six of those goals came in one leg!) remains to be seen, but for Masyaf, they can already begin planning that open-top bus parade, if fortune should ever smile upon them in the final.

2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup Final
And now it comes down to this. Hatay versus Ixania; Masyaf versus Rheinburg; Assassins versus Gasmen. Will Masyafspor sneak their way to victory or will Shakhtar Rheinburg light their way to the Pridnestrovian Cup? Let us all find out together.
Pridnestrovian Cup Final @ Army Stadium, Tiraspol, Transnistrian Socialist State
Masyafspor 2–1 Shakhtar Rheinburg

Masyafspor win the 2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup

They've done it! They've only gone and done it! Masyafspor have won their first ever Pridnestrovian Cup in the post-unification era! They've lifted four Hatay National Cups before but this will be their first ever Pridnestrovian Cup ever! Maicon Pacheco may have opened the scoring for Shakhtar but Ali Mehmet Omer's brace will mean that the Pridnestrovian Cup will go to Hatay for the first time in 27 years, and this is also the first time that a third-tier team will take home the Cup in over 36 years. This also means that Masyafspor will be going to their first ever Pridnestrovian Super Shield at the start of the next season, against which they will play the winner of this season's Super League. But before all that, let us applaud for their historic achievement Masyafspor, your 2022-23 Pridnestrovian Cup champions!

2022-23 Copperite National Football League season

Postby Copper Cuprum » Tue Nov 21, 2017 3:36 am

The Copperite National Football League is the term used to describe the top four tiers of association football in the Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum, starting from the Copperite National League all the way down to Copperite League Four. All teams in these four tiers are expected to be capable of running as a professional football club; failure to stand up to certain standards established by the Governors of the Copperite National Football League will result in the club's relegation to the semiprofessional tiers at the end of the season no matter their position in the league system. On the other hand, teams that would otherwise be relegated from League Four could end up staying in the league as those teams from the semiprofessional fifth tier which would otherwise be promoted could declare that they are not yet ready to handle full professionalism in time for the start of the next season.

And without further ado, here are the results of the 2022-23 Copperite National Football League season.

Postby Fhulghamous Peninsula » Tue Nov 21, 2017 3:55 am

Following a referendum, the Fhulghamousian footballing season, which has been divided into the Apertura-Clausura system to increase the number of games which teams play in a given season, will now have its sections referred to as the Opening and the Closing. It is still the same as the Apertura-Clausura system with translated names.

2022-23 Fleftic Ladies' Premier League Regular Season

Postby Abanhfleft » Mon Jan 22, 2018 11:49 pm

Image

The reorganized Fleftic Ladies' Premier Division (comprising the top two tiers of women's football in Abanhfleft, the Ladies' Premier League and the Ladies' Second Division) sees both the LPL and the L2D expand from only ten teams each to twelve teams each. The Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft has also introduced a massive change into the season schedule of the LPL and the L2D: instead of both leagues playing a quadruple round robin format, both leagues will instead play a double round robin format with 22 games per team which will determine who qualifies for the championship round and who qualifies for the relegation round. In both the championship and relegation rounds, the six teams will also play against each other in a double round robin to determine who comes out on top and who remains at the bottom. This is both to create parity between all teams in the league and to maintain the synchronicity between the women's and men's leagues.

Here is the final table of the 2022-23 Fleftic Ladies' Premier League regular season.

2022-23 Fleftic Ladies' Premier League regular season final table
LPL Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Sporting Ceneisis Women 22 17 3 2 61 23 +38 54 Qualification to Championship Round
2 Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies 22 16 1 5 64 28 +36 49 Qualification to Championship Round
3 Uthilmir United AFC 22 10 8 4 52 39 +13 38 Qualification to Championship Round
4 Sarvusdalamoive Ladies 22 10 5 7 57 58 −1 35 Qualification to Championship Round
5 Keephall Valkyries 22 9 5 8 45 49 −4 32 Qualification to Championship Round
6 Eielo Sunlight Women 22 7 5 10 28 37 −9 26 Qualification to Championship Round

7 Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies 22 7 4 11 36 43 −7 25 Qualification to Relegation Round
8 Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women 22 7 4 11 42 51 −9 25 Qualification to Relegation Round
9 Xemlice Rovers Ladies 22 7 4 11 33 48 −15 25 Qualification to Relegation Round
10 West Releinthi City Women 22 6 3 13 21 29 −8 21 Qualification to Relegation Round
11 Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies 22 3 11 8 37 45 −8 20 Qualification to Relegation Round
12 Riuwiee United Women 22 3 7 12 16 42 −26 16 Qualification to Relegation Round

After barely avoiding relegation by virtue of the expansion of the LPL, Keephall Valkyries and Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women now find themselves higher up the table, with the Valkyries actually making it into the championship round. And in a massive turnaround from their poor season last time around, Sporting Ceneisis have actually shot up the table to claim first place, putting them in good standing to win their first Ladies' Premier League title in five years. The fact that the Lady Blues no longer need to rely on a single source for the majority of their goals has allowed them to express themselves more fully and properly, and if they can keep this up then they certainly have a shot at winning the title.

8 Kimmirut Panhandle Women 22 8 4 10 44 51 −7 28 Qualification to Relegation Round
9 Braganopolis United Ladies 22 8 3 11 33 39 −6 27 Qualification to Relegation Round

11 Tentenaraya Rovers Women 22 5 11 6 46 50 −4 26 Qualification to Relegation Round
12 Athletic Motonou 22 7 3 12 39 51 −12 24 Qualification to Relegation Round

Newly promoted Ogovlich Medusas, playing in the second tier of Fleftic women's football for the first time ever in their history, have taken everyone by surprise by taking advantage of poor season from the usual suspects of the Ladies' Second Division to storm their way to the top of the regular season table. At the other end, Athletic Motonou, usually considered as one of the perennial promotion contenders, are dead last, and only the new season format keeps them from plunging into the third tier of Fleftic women's football, a place where a team of Athletic Motonou's caliber certainly don't deserve to be. With the regular season wrapped up, it's time to play the championship and relegation rounds and see who will lift a trophy and who will have to be dropped.

LPL Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts

2 Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies 32 23 2 7 91 44 +49 71
3 Keephall Valkyries 32 13 7 12 61 69 −8 46
4 Uthilmir United AFC 32 10 11 11 62 65 −3 41

11 Riuwiee United Women 32 8 8 16 33 58 −25 32 Relegated to Ladies' Second Division
12 West Releinthi City Women 32 8 3 21 28 42 −14 27 Relegated to Ladies' Second Division

Sporting Ceneisis Women and Tullio Zorzalo hang on to top spot despite a strong challenge by Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies and Godric Wexler, and the Lady Blues lift their first Ladies' Premier League title in so many seasons. As always, Allison Torres led the way for the Lady Blues with fifteen goals and twenty assists, and forwards Samantha Leroux and Ma Ailan chipped in for a total of forty-two (42) goals between them. Ceneisis also improved defensively with Cosumarite center back Hilde Silfverberg finally settling in and performing for the Lady Blues, and controversial Bojikstani signing Mara Mandaric plugged in the gaps in the midfield with her hard tackles that inevitably flared up her knee injury, but not before Ceneisis had finally secured the title. At the other end of the table, West Releinthi City Women couldn't escape the drop, but the relegation surprise of the year surely falls on Riuwiee United Women, who despite a stacked and talented roster that includes a number of Fleftic internationals just couldn't find a way to win enough games to stave off relegation. Riuwiee's relegation will surely come as a surprise to many people as they were widely expected to be title contenders in the LPL once again, but West Releinthi's relegation was a bit of a long time coming.

That certainly feels like the case when Athletic Motonou put in one of the saddest performances ever seen in the Fleftic women's leagues, and if they continue to play like they did in the relegation round, then they truly deserve what's coming for them. In news from the other end of the table, Ogovlich Medusas couldn't sustain their title challenge. Heck, they couldn't even sustain their challenge for back-to-back promotions through the Fleftic women's league pyramid, and it would two Second Division stalwarts to take the place of West Releinthi City Women and Riuwiee United Women in the Ladies' Premier League. Sporting Tiembabkh Women will take home the title and a place in the Ladies' Premier League next season, and joining them up (but without silverware to show for it though) will be Pawwazim Ladies.

2023-24 Fleftic Premier League Preview, Part One

Postby Abanhfleft » Wed Jan 24, 2018 2:21 am

Finally, the biggest league in the APOC Coalition, the Fleftic Premier League, returns to action soon. Abanhfleft's first outing in UICA competition was one to remember, even if none of our teams ever made it to the group stages of the Champions' Cup, Globe Cup, and Series B Champions' Cup. Everyone looks to get a piece of that action, but before they can all actually do that, let's take a look at who actually stands a chance at participating in UICA football and who is only chasing a fool's dream.

Image

Admiral Porcusces: It was a season to forget for Admiral Porcusces as they finished 13th last season, although it has to be said that after their incredible and unbelievable title win back in 2020, they were never likely to repeat the feat, just as fellow one-time Premier League winners Sarvusdalamoive don't look very likely to win the league once again. But for Foxes fans, all that matters is that they remain in the Premier League and maybe challenge for a top half finish. Tristan Lee is still committed to at least one more season with Admiral but even as age catches up to him, he still looks like a likely contender for retaining the Golden Boot that he won this season over the likes of Max Fetfatzidis and Kareem Dagen and will definitely be a reliable source of goals for the Foxes. Their defense, meanwhile, could still use some work, though; Ikenna Obama and Odell Mortensen may be good but the two of them won't be good enough to stop them from leaking goals (even if they are the only team in the bottom half of the table to still have a positive goal difference). Immediate UICA football may be a step too far for them this season but they can definitely take the first baby steps towards that goal but only if they plan both for the present and the future. Predicted finish: Tenth

Image

All-Inclusive Haranguer: The Sand Tigers took everyone by surprise when they managed to sneak into fifth place last season, just below Xemlice Rovers and the final Globe Cup place on goal difference. It's fair to say that Haranguer have really taken the Premier League by storm following their second stint in the league, and all the credit deservedly goes to Wallace Partridge and his excellent recruitment and tactics. Partridge was able to squeeze over twenty goals and fifteen assists out of the strike partnership of Fluvique striker Sam Gonza and Thaldor midfielder Lasse Torson, who are both finally retiring from club competition and could very well take up coaching positions with the Sand Tigers this season. Partridge will look to replace those two with San Llera's Bellemurillo and Anglatia's Katarina Dana Bonner, who both also played their part in the best season ever in the history of All-Inclusive Haranguer. One position that the Sand Tigers need shoring up on is goalkeeper, as Semarlandic shotstopper Johannes Bright has put in a transfer request back to Semarland in the aftermath of the strange events enveloping his home country. If Haranguer can find a quality replacement for Bright then they can definitely challenge for top four, but they still might not be able to make it there just yet. Predicted finish: Sixth

Image

Arsenal de Releinthi: Another club with a season to forget will be Arsenal de Releinthi. Fresh off of their league triumph, everyone was expecting them to retain the title or at the very least keep challenging for it to the end of the season. But that wasn't what happened. Horrible results which saw them draw and lose against almost every team in the league saw the Gunners plummet all the way down to ninth place. Godric Wexler will be keen not to repeat that in his final season with Arsenal. (Yes, we know we've been saying that this season will be Wexler's last for over a decade now but this time, the man himself has confirmed that he will finally be stepping down from the position. It's going to be the end of an era no matter what.) But he has his work cut out for him. Wexler has got an aging squad in his hands and he hasn't done a lot to rectify that. Players who were key to Arsenal's resurgence in the new millennium like Godzilla, Uziel Gal Tza'eer, and Selim Tiryaki are all on the wrong end of thirty, and they don't have too much new blood in the system. The Gunners are definitely going to improve from last season, but not enough to get them UICA football once again. Predicted finish: Fifth

Image

Athletic Dorfdifving: The Canaries didn't do too bad last season, but it's safe to say that they didn't do too well either. A team simply cannot keep relying on one person to keep them up in the Premier League and expect to get away with it, and everyone saw that as Charlie King's production in front of goal slowly but steadily decreased as the season wore on. King only finally managed to receive some help in the form of Charlie Forbes and mid-season signing Jude Riggs, but Dorfdifving will need even more support for their primary goalscorers if they are to continue surviving in the Premier League. And with their manager Gaëtano Bernardeschi agreeing to manage the Pridnestrovian national football team, whoever will come in to replace him will find that maintaining Dorfdifving's Premier League status could very well be easier said than done. Predicted finish: Sixteenth

Image

Electric Yugal: To say that Electric Yugal are not being fancied by anyone to stay in the Premier League is an understatement. The fact that the Bolts were only able to scrape past Atletico San Sebastian on penalties, and their win over Bananas FC was incredibly labored, like watching Gaëtano Bernadeschi climb up a flight of stairs. Practically the only player in Yugal whom Premier League fans will know is Nestor Mikkelsen, who loyally stuck with the Bolts through thick and thin despite numerous offers from all the big and small Premier League clubs to jump ship and move, especially in the season before last where Yugal only barely managed to avoid relegation to Liga Ikalawa. However, it wouldn't be fair to Yugal if we just mention that almost-relegation; we have to talk about their resurgence as well. It may not be the prettiest promotion in the world, but Bolts fans will certainly take it. They will all have to make the most of it though as Electric look very likely to slide right back down to Unang Liga unless they really try to improve themselves in the face of tough Premier League opposition. Predicted finish: Twentieth

Image

Fleftic Air Force: The Air Force survives to play another season of Premier League football. They finished below their Army rivals once again but through no fault of their own. It's just that even though both Air Force and Army are now free to play players other than those who are actually serving in the Fleftic Air Force or the Fleftic Army, both clubs are just not that popular of a destination with football players, whether they want to prove themselves in a new league or if they're just chasing a paycheck. Not that Air Force could give its players big paychecks, but it's the thought that counts. The really big names in the Air Force Club aren't exactly household names, although they've caused enough problems to the other clubs that some of the more dedicated fans will be cursing their names anyway. Loris Wilder is the biggest name in the Air Force as their striker, and Jurij Horner sends in the crosses that Wilder likes to nod in at the near post or far post (it doesn't matter really). Julius Kande is their hard-tackling central midfielder, and between the three of them they can make the Air Force Club a nuisance to everyone else. But that's just about it for them, really. Midtable and unremarkable is what the Air Force are going to be this season, and the next, and the next.... Predicted finish: Eleventh

Image

Fleftic Army: The Army Club finished above their Air Force rivals once again, and other than that, that's all that can be said for the Fleftic Army Football Club. Like their Air Force rivals and compatriots, the fact that they can now sign players who are not part of the Fleftic Army itself hasn't done much to change their fortunes, and they are still a midtable team with some aspirations to UICA football but not necessarily the means to achieve that aspiration. Isaak Avvakumov is the Army Club's biggest asset coming into the new season, having set the Premier League on fire and forcing his way into Golden Boot contention before eventually falling off in the last few match weeks of the season. Igor Golitsyn is also a good shotstopper for the current Fleftic Army side but they can certainly think about getting an upgrade if they do want to make the next step to the top half of the top half and perhaps a UICA spot. And Jinder Kumar, despite all the memes of him as an own goal machine, is still a very credible defender and his leadership is vital in maintaining Army's status as a midtable club. But, like their Air Force rivals, that's all they're going to be at the moment. Predicted finish: Twelfth

Image

Kimmirut Panhandle: Kimmirut survived relegation last season, and they could very well have a shot at surviving once again, but only if they play their cards right, keep their players, and make some good signings in the transfer window. The obvious star in this team is Ji Moon, who has found a lot of success in beach soccer and is already well on his way to transferring that success to his soccer on the pitch, and another main contributor to Kimmirut's escape from the drop zone is Kim Jae-in, the striker whose sixteen goals undoubtedly helped keep afloat the Roughnecks' hopes of a second Premier League season. Young defender Stanton Tatum, who participated in the silver-winning Abanhfleft team from the 9th Under-15 World Cup in Schottia, will look to gain vital experience under the wing of Oliver Redmond, who has confirmed that this season will be his last as a professional player, with him transitioning to an academy role in Kimmirut come the end of the season. It's always a good thing to have experience coaching a young prospect, but Kimmirut will still need reinforcements to maintain their Premier League status. But that should be just one or two very wise transfers away. Predicted finish: Seventeenth

Image

Locomotive Imgortur: And now for another team that pleasantly surprised everyone else. Locomotive Imgortur had long since established itself as a midtable Premier League stalwart following their promotion from what is now Unang Liga, but no one really thought about their chances for international football until they made a real challenge for it until the last days of the last season. Still, seventh is a good showing for a side that doesn't have too many players that even the casual Premier League fan would have heard of. Their star player remains the Fleftic international defender Melisizwe Afolayan, but he does have some quality teammates in deep-lying playmaker Basileios Karageorgiadis and fleet-footed striker Rhys Bustamante. One very promising young gun from the Engineers is Apoxian midfielder Quintrell Lidgley, acquired from the Centre of Excellence and now currently under the wing of veteran midfielder Gary Montes. Lidgley has shined for some of the games in which he has suited up for Locomotive, and surely both his trajectory and the club's will be on the up and up. But not today, though. Maybe in the future, but not today. Predicted finish: Ninth

Image

Ludogorets Markovsky: Now here's a club that has fallen on some hard times. Ludogorets Markovsky, under the reinvigorated leadership of Kasper Molak, was widely expected to have challenged for the title or at the very least the UICA places. But that wasn't what happened. Jordan Cervantes, despite being a national team stalwart for a number of years, simply cannot cut it anymore in the Premier League, much as Molak tries to convince the league otherwise. Another Fleftic international, Daisuke Ogigayatsu, is a better defender than Cervantes, but he is still both young and raw. And with Laurent Piersson misfiring in front of goal for more times than Ludogorets fans will care to count, the onus to score goals has fallen on Oontaznik winger Pereira, and while he has handled it well, he can't be expected to do the same once again for the second season running. The Foresters will need to dip their toes in the transfer window if they hope to have a chance at finally getting some UICA football. Predicted finish: Eighth

2023-24 Fleftic Premier League Preview, Part Two

Postby Abanhfleft » Wed Jan 24, 2018 8:42 am

As promised, here is Part Two of the Fleftic Premier League Preview for the 2023-24 season. Once again, technical difficulties have resulted in clubs being represented by erroneous badges selected purely by their resemblance to the actual badges of the FPL member clubs. The FPL profusely apologizes once again for all the inconvenience that this has caused.

Image

Malabon SC: It's going to be an era of transition for Malabon this season. Elahi Edhi has finally retired from club football and Kevin Kelvin is rapidly reaching the wrong side of thirty. Malabon do have a great midfield in the form of Andor Gaal, Lucjo Mihaelo Kleinmann, and Valery Zolnerov, but a great midfield also needs to have a good defense behind it and a good attack in front to really challenge for the top half of the table once again, let alone try to take a UICA spot. But stranger things have happened. Let's see how this plays out. But for now, Malabon don't look like they have a chance at making it into the top ten, let alone the top four. Predicted finish: Thirteenth

Image

Marinos Thimpodopoulos: One would think that defense would not be a problem for a team that has five goalkeepers on its wage bill. One would be wrong if they made that assumption for Marinos Thimpodopoulos. After a sterling start to life in the Premier League, their performances have slowly but steadily declined to the point where their performances and final league positions are more in line with a recently promoted team rather than a team that has survived nine seasons in the Premier League. Svyatoslav Alkaev is still a good goalkeeper but he's getting a bit long in the tooth. Cheim Ogem is too temperamental to be a consistent and reliable first-choice keeper. Orestes Katsouranis III and Brook Arzate are both stellar prospects but still green around the gills in terms of Premier League football. And Walnut Durant... Well, he's Walnut Durant. Friedemann Aleshire became the Mariners' main source of goals after Max Fetfatzidis joined Rosenpfelblatz City, and while his strike partner Hannes Schaepdryver has picked up some slack, the Veldgouwer forward still has to work on his consistency and finishing, and because of that, Marinos will find themselves in the relegation dogfight once again. But those aforementioned players may just well be the key to their survival, at least for one more season. Predicted finish: Fourteenth

Image

Paulsen FC: Yes, Paulsen did manage to get promoted right back to the Premier League after their relegation, but one gets the feeling that their return to Unang Liga will also be just as swift. Paulsen are literally wanting for any significant players in their team, and only very good transfer business could see them achieve safety, and even then that may not be enough. I hate to say it, but Paulsen are not fancied to remain in the Premier League for long. Predicted finish: Nineteenth

Image

Riuwiee United: Artemio Peres and the Blue Tribesmen will also rather forget the last season and look to rebuild and recharge for this season. Oren Ya'akovi only has one year left before he retires as well, and his Schottic replacement Hamish Muir may not be prepared to take the stage as the star man for Riuwiee, his twelve goals last season notwithstanding. Luke Edwards is still capable of mustering the defense but he can no longer continue keeping up with the pacier players of the league, but that's why Riuwiee have retained the services of Edison Joao and Isaac Georgiadis. And combine that with Artemio Peres' patented defensive solidity tactics, Riuwiee will definitely be able to mount a challenge for UICA football this time around. Predicted finish: Fourth

Image

Rosenpfelblatz City: The defending champions are back, and this time they are well-prepared to mount a title defense. Joseph Churchill knows what his team is capable of, and the team also knows what is expected of them. For Kareem Dagen and Max Fetfatzidis, that is to score goals; for Kenneth Owobowale and Holland Emilianovski, that is to stop the opposition from scoring goals against City. And for everyone else, their job is to do what is asked of them and play their part in the team. And that is the key to an immediate return to UICA football. Predicted finish: First

Image

Sarvusdalamoive: The one-time Premier League champions are back, and they look to maintain their Premier League status. But that's going to be a very hard ask for them as the only player of note in the team is none other than Toumain Vincelot, who ignored all kinds of overtures from all the bigger Premier League clubs to remain with the Pinks and help them back up to the top tier. But Sarvusdalamoive can't keep relying on the efforts of just one man to keep them up. Once again, wise investment in the transfer window will be the key to success for the Pinks but it's not going to be easy. They might not be able to do it at all. Predicted finish: Eighteenth

Image

Sporting Ceneisis: Tullio Zorzalo will feel so proud of his team's performance last season. They challenged for the title to the last day. Sure, they didn't win it in the end but that's not to say that they can't do it this time around. As always, the keys to their success will lie on Peter Schermer to score the goals, Tariq Abdul-Farid to send the crosses into the box for Schermer and his fellow Blues forwards to touch into the net, Ferdinand Tavistock to start the attack from deep midfield, and Roscoe Stubbs and his defenders to stop everyone taking on the team. Carlos Cohen is the last line of defense, but the shotstopper has shown that he can be counted on to keep the team afloat during their SFA Cup defense, and this time Zorzalo expects Cohen to make the step up to the Premier League. The Blues will definitely be playing UICA football for sure; the only question is in which competition they will be playing: Champions' Cup or Globe Cup. Predicted finish: Second

Image

Thereisnogodistan FC: Yet another promising side that no longer looks like they could hang in there for a little longer. Thereisnogodistan tried to bring in a proven striker during the last season but the deal fell through at the last minute so they have been forced to rely on the players that have been playing for the club ever since they were formed to compete in the Multiverse Premier League before being finally promoted up to the Premier League. They might still have some more reserves left to survive a relegation dogfight. But this might be their last season in the Premier League. Predicted finish: Fifteenth

Image

Wanda Island Wanderers: The Wanderers have finally finished above their red rivals from Releinthi after over twenty seasons of pain and disappointment, and it was all thanks to their well-drilled team. Petro Zhdanov leads the line once again after the Wanderers' old striker was shipped off, while Arthur MacAlistair backs him up. Caleb Wayne will break up any attacks against the team, and the reliable Edward Pinkerton will stop the goals from coming in as much as possible. They got UICA football back then; they can get it again. Predicted finish: Fourth

Image

Xemlice Rovers: The Rovers impressed last season on the back of Gustavo Potter's leadership, but the man is edging ever closer to retirement. Surely he can't keep producing the numbers that he made last season. But who will replace him as the lynchpin of this Rovers team? Corey Wheeler? Fabrosu Nyema? Who? Unless Xemlice can find that person soon, last season's memories could very well be just that: memories. Predicted finish: Seventh

So that does it for the Premier League Preview. Let's head into the season with these expectations, and the expectations that these expectations will be thrown out of the window on the very first match day. Play ball!

Abanhfleft in UICA, 2023-24 Recap Part One

Postby Abanhfleft » Mon Jan 29, 2018 4:04 am

Abanhfleft's first foray into UICA football was memorable, to say the least. After nine long years of promises to finally integrate the country into this biggest of international football competitions, the Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft finally went ahead and did it for the good of the football fanatics of the Democratic Republic. As champions of the first ever Premier League season in UICA, Rosenpfelblatz City automatically qualified for a place in the UICA Champions' Cup, now already in its 69th edition. Sporting Ceneisis, Wanda Island Wanderers and Xemlice Rovers took up the Fleftic places in the 66th Globe Cup, and Unang Liga winners Sarvusdalamoive led their fellow promotion fighters Paulsen FC and Bananas FC to the 66th Series B Champions' Cup, the international competition for the best of the second tier of nations' leagues. Let's take a look at how they did. First up is the champions, Rosenpfelblatz City.

Rosenpfelblatz City (Champions' Cup, Globe Cup)
Rosenpfelblatz City surprised everyone in Abanhfleft and also possibly a lot of people from other countries by making it as far into the Champions' Cup as they did. Rosenpfelblatz, while they were one of the bigger teams in Abanhfleft, still hadn't yet faced any other team from any other country aside from friendlies with teams in the APOC Coalition, and despite the talent in Joseph Churchill's team, no one was tipping them to progress farther than the first or perhaps the second qualifying round of the Champions' Cup. But they did exactly that. Rosen City were able to go all the way to the third preliminary round of the Champions' Cup before they finally found their path forwards blocked by a very good Centralis Heart team from Electrum. But that wasn't the end of Rosen's story in UICA just yet, as they were still allowed to drop down to the Globe Cup and continue their chase for UICA glory there. There Joe Churchill and his men saw off the challenge from Bonesea's Florence Boldclub before the Citizens finally went out of the Globe Cup in crashing-and-burning fashion against Jasiyun's Carter FC. Let's retrace the Citizen's journey through the biggest international football competition ever.

Champions' Cup first preliminary round (vs. Crystopolis City (Crystal Empire))
Crystopolis City 1 - 2 Rosenpfelblatz City
RCI goalscorers:
Max Fetfatzidis (16')
Kareem Dagen (57')

Here we are then, Rosenpfelblatz City's first ever game in any UICA competition ever. As expected, Joe Churchill named his strongest possible lineup for this game even as the Citizens look to be slipping up a little bit in the Premier League. Rosen had just come from an exhilarating 6-4 loss against Ludogorets Markovsky in which Churchill decided to give some of his star players a rest by subbing them off, and the Citizens were looking to bounce back almost immediately. And they did just that. In what was ultimately a comfortable win for the Citizens, Max Fetfatzidis started off the proceedings with a simple left-footed shot into the right corner of the net after he was played through on goal by Alan Turpentine. Crystopolis City then thought that they had made a game out of this match again when they equalized in the second half, but Kareem Dagen then gave Rosenpfelblatz the lead once again just three minutes later, and City controlled the proceedings after that. Sure, there were a few chances were Crystopolis looked like they could equalize but Rosenpfelblatz defended well, putting the Citizens in good stead with a win and two very important away goals as they prepare to host the Crystal Empire side at the Aeroflot Stadium.

Rosenpfelblatz City 1 - 0 Crystopolis City
RCI goalscorer: Oliver Ganson (90+2')

As if Rosenpfelblatz City needed to make sure of their progress to the second preliminary round. But all's well that ends well, they say, and Rosen's first ever Champions' Cup tie ended well for them. This time, Joe Churchill opted for a less powerful lineup but that still didn't stop them from getting the win. Don't let the scoreline tell you otherwise; Rosenpfelblatz were practically in complete control of this game. Crystopolis had few chances in this game and while both teams had almost equal shares of possession, Crystopolis were unable to make the most out of it. Tumbran wunderkind Oliver Ganson continues to impress for the Citizens, and while it did take him up to the added minutes after the end of the game to score, his pearl of a volley for the winning goal will surely be among the candidates for goal of the season and helped set up a meeting with Mercedini's Zoloroni Metropolitan.

Champions' Cup second preliminary round (vs. Zoloroni Metropolitan (Mercedini))
Zoloroni Metropolitan 1 - 2 Rosenpfelblatz City
RCI goalscorers:
Max Fetfatzidis (70' pen)
Sven Dimmock (82')

Zoloroni Met were a tougher opposition than Crystopolis City, that was for sure, but in the end the Citizens walked away from that contest with the same result as their first ever UICA encounter against the Crystal Ponies. It was the Mercedinian side who took an early lead in this game though, and while they had control of the game in the first half, it was Rosenpfelblatz who took hold of the second half and engineered their own comeback. Max Fetfatzidis was brought down harsh inside the area for a penalty kick, and he took it himself and slotted home calmly into the right corner once again. Sven Dimmock then scored what would turn out to be the winning goal after he jumped highest to head home Carl Sweeney's corner kick to once again put Rosenpfelblatz City in the driver's seat of this particular tie. Another sumptuous tie in the Aeroflot Stadium awaits.

Rosenpfelblatz City 1 - 0 Zoloroni Metropolitan
RCI goalscorer:
Mosi Okoye (5')

This time Rosenpfelblatz City scored an early goal to put the whole tie to rest, and it was the out-of-favor former New Gazilian international Mosi Okoye tapping in the rebound from Max Fetfatzidis' snap shot from outside the box. Zoloroni Metropolitan huffed and puffed but Rosen City's back line held up to the pressure, barring a few heart-in-the-mouth moments when Zolo Met pounced on the counterattack and nearly made the Citizens pay had it not been for the likes of Holland Emilianovski and Kenneth Owobowale in defense and Brad Dennison in goal. Rosenpfelblatz City's victory over Zoloroni Metropolitan sees the Fleftic tie drawn against Electrum's Centralis Heart, and this time it will be the Citizens who will play at home first.

Champions' Cup third preliminary round (vs. Centralis Heart (Electrum))
Rosenpfelblatz City 1 - 2 Centralis Heart
RCI goalscorer:
Kareem Dagen (54')

Remind Rosenpfelblatz City to never play at home first when they are in UICA competitions. Or at least that's the trend that's been extrapolated by armchair pundits following the Citizens' first defeat in the Champions' Cup. This time the Electrumites took complete control of the match, both in the first and second half, with both of their goals coming in the first half already. Kareem Dagen thought that he had made it game on when he scored nine minutes into the second half with a classic counterattacking goal, but Centralis immediately reasserted their dominance over the game but couldn't make much else out of it though. But they had the win and the all-important away goals, and it was the Citizens' turn to have their work cut out for them as they pay a visit to the Electrumite capital.

Centralis Heart 4 - 1 Rosenpfelblatz City
RCI goalscorer:
Buddock Mawla (78')

And they couldn't do anything more after that. Hearts were completely dominant in this contest, scoring two in the first half and then completing the rout with two more goals in the second half before young Bonesman Buddock Mawla finally scored Rosenpfelblatz's consolation with yet another volleyed goal from a Carl Sweeney corner. But this isn't the end of Rosen's UICA journey just yet; they may have lost in the Champions' Cup but they will have a chance to continue their life in UICA football by dropping down to the Globe Cup play-off round draw, where they will be up against a team from Mawla's home nation, Florence Boldclub of Bonesea. Good news for Citizens and armchair pundits: Rosenpfelblatz City will be away for the first game once again. This can only mean good things for the team, at least in their opinions.

Globe Cup play-off round (vs. Florence Boldclub (Bonesea))
Florence Boldclub 0 - 1 Rosenpfelblatz City
RCI goalscorer:
Amadeo Rivas (69')

As predicted, Rosenpfelblatz City won their first game in the Globe Cup by virtue of playing away from home on the first leg of the tie. It was a tense and nervy affair though; nobody really got too many clear-cut chances, and when they did, they couldn't make very much more out of it. In fact, it could be said that the chance with probably the least chance of success was actually the one that ended with a goal. Left back Amadeo Rivas, starting his first game for the Citizens since the second leg of the Champions' Cup game against Crystopolis City, netted the only goal of the game when he headed in Buddock Mawla's corner kick. Mawla also had a chance to score before his fellow Bonesfolk when he was played through on goal by Chris Haralampiev but the Florence Boldclub keeper made a fantastic save with his knee and thigh to prevent Mawla from doubling City's advantage. And while he may have only a one-goal cushion for all of his team's efforts in Bonesea, Joe Churchill will feel confident of making it through to the next stage of the Globe Cup.

Rosenpflelbatz City 2 - 0 Florence Boldclub
RCI goalscorers:
Kareem Dagen (17')
Alan Turpentine (45')

Indeed, Rosenpfelblatz has won yet another tie in which they played away first. Florence Doldclub simply had no answer for the skill and speed of Kareem Dagen, and it was the Fleftic international's tricky interplay with his teammates that allowed Dagen to nip in behind the Bonish club's defense and sidefoot home the first goal of the game. It was also Dagen's inherent trickery that put him in behind of the defense once again near the end of the first half, and while he wasn't able to convert his shot into a goal this time, Alan Turpentine was on hand to slam the ball into the roof of the net to kill off the game. Florence Boldclub had a handful of chances in the second half to make the Citizens a little bit skittish before the end of the game but Rosenpfelblatz would have none of it. Bums did get a little bit squeaky in the final minutes when Rosen's Kenneth Owobowale almost conceded an own goal from a set piece, but thankfully Brad Dennison was on hand to catch the ball before it fully crossed the line. Only one more round left before Rosenpfelblatz City could find themselves participating in the group stage of the Globe Cup, and only one more team left to face and beat in Jasiyun's Carter FC.

Globe Cup qualifying round (vs. Carter FC (Jasiyun))
Carter FC 2 - 1 Rosenpfelblatz City
RCI goalscorer:
Oliver Ganson (30')

Well, the armchair pundits' theory turns out to be bunk as well. Rosenpfelblatz were the away team in this leg of the tie and they lost. Oliver Ganson thought that he had got his team the lead at just the half hour mark but then Carter FC quickly equalized and then won the game sometime in the second half. Ganson did his best to make a nuisance of himself along with his teammates Buddock Mawla and, later on in the game, Kareem Dagen, but it was all for naught. The Citizens will head back to the Aeroflot Stadium in a subdued mood.

Rosenpfelblatz City 0 - 3 Carter FC
No RCI goalscorers

Thus ends the saga of Rosenpfelblatz City in UICA. A thumping loss in front of their home fans, and not even a goal scored in front of them. It may not be the end that Joe Churchill may have wanted for his men but they will have next season to rebuild.

This ends the recap of Rosenpfelblatz City's experiences in UICA. They made it a bit far into the Champions' Cup, were eliminated and dropped down to the Globe Cup where they fell just short of their first ever group stage appearance. Next, we will recap Sporting Ceneisis' experiences in UICA as well as the Cup Winners' Cup. Stay tuned.

2023-24 Fleftic Premier League MD1 - MD10

Postby Abanhfleft » Mon Jan 29, 2018 7:05 am

The Fleftic Premier League is up and running! This time the league is finally available for viewing for the rest of the nations of the multiverse (who want to watch the FPL anyway) and the league is once again home to some very big thrills, spills, and action! So let's get watching this league already! But before we get on with the league itself, let's go watch the 2023 SFA Community Shield between the league winners Rosenpfelblatz City and the cup winners Sporting Ceneisis.
@ May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium, Riuwiee (official attendance 66,743)

Rosenpfelblatz City 1–0 Sporting Ceneisis

Rosenpfelblatz City have won the Community Shield! And of course the scorer of the winning goal was none other than Rosen's young gun Oliver Ganson! He came on in the 80th minute as Rosenpfelblatz's final substitute and he made an immediate impact, grabbing the late winner just two minutes after stepping on the pitch. Ganson volleyed in the cross from his fellow youngster Buddock Mawla and Carlos Cohen was powerless to stop it. Rosenpfelblatz City held on in the final eight minutes of the match to win, and the first piece of silverware on offer this season goes to none other than Joseph Churchill.

At the end of ten match days, it looks as if our top four is finally beginning to take shape. Arsenal de Releinthi went on a seven-game winning streak before an exhilarating 5-5 draw against Ludogorets Markovsky finally snapped their streak, but it doesn't look as if the Gunners are going to stop winning and picking up points anytime soon; they've already managed two smashing wins against fellow title challengers Riuwiee United and Sporting Ceneisis, and while they may have ended this sequence with a score draw against defending champions Rosenpfelblatz City, Arsenal are still top of the table on goal difference over surprise contenders Locomotive Imgortur. Whether the Engineers remain at the top (or near it) remains to be seen for now, but they are chasing the Gunners along with other surprise packages Malabon SC and Fleftic Army.

The defending champions Rosenpfelblatz City meanwhile are wallowing in 8th place and are actually closer to the relegation places than the top of the table, with 11 points separating the Releinthi team from the Citizens and only 8 points separating Rosenpfelblatz from the bottom five. Yes, you read that right, bottom five, because there are five teams currently sitting on a haul of just seven points in the Premier League at this stage of the season. The bottom three are the teams you would expect down there: Kimmirut, Electric Yugal, and Paulsen; but the other two teams with only 7 points are Fleftic Air Force and Xemlice Rovers. Such a fall from grace for a team that was among the first in Abanhfleft to finally participate in UICA football, but oh well. There's still everything to play for in the Premier League, so don't dare miss a single second of it.

Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies and Sporting Ceneisis Women continue their dominance of the Ladies' Premier League this season, with both teams now beginning to run away from the rest of the league by at least 10 points. The two promoted teams from the Ladies' Second Division, Pawwazim Ladies and Sporting Tiembabkh Women, are also doing quite well for promoted sides, and Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies look in danger of following Riuwiee United Women down to the Second Division.

And speaking of Riuwiee Women and the Second Division, the Blue Amazons are currently sitting in third place in the second tier, but they're only one point behind the league leaders Wanda Island Wanderers Women and only in third by virtue of a slightly poorer goal difference than Ogovlich Medusas, who will want to keep on fighting both for the Second Division title and promotion to the top flight of Fleftic women's football. And let us not forget the UICA places now up for grabs for the women's teams, but they will have to go through their male counterparts to get there first. But it still must be an exciting incentive for the women.

Admiral Novorossiysk 3–0 Fortuna Novonikolaysk
Rotor Dnistrosh 4–0 Dinamo Macaresti
Vorpommern Nyqvist 4–2 Amzaceaspor
Sheriff Tiraspol 4–2 Ufa Verkhovyansk

Sheriff Tiraspol begin their title defense in good fashion, clocking up seven wins, two draws, and no losses to take top spot in the Super League outright with 23 points in the bag. Union Rheinburg are not far behind with 22 points to their name, and Admiral Novorossiysk look like they had never been relegated in the first place, shooting right for the top of the table and sitting pretty on third place with 21 points, equal with CSKA Tiraspol who are below the Seamen only on goal difference. Dinamo Bender are five points off the pace, however, and they are the team nearest to the top four of the Super League at this stage of the season. They will hope to overhaul that deficit but with CSKA performing with renewed vigor under new manager Olizbek Otkunbayev, Bender's job is unfortunately easier said than done.

At the other end of the table, Ufa Verkhovyansk have really slipped down the table, mostly probably due to their UICA commitments, and it has to be said that they actually went a very long way in that competition before finally being eliminated. It must be because they don't have a lot of depth. Also, Fortuna Novonikolaysk, the surprise champions of the 2021-22 season, are just one point away from the relegation playoff spot. Things are definitely not looking good for the Fortune Giants. And it's even worse for Star City FC, who have tallied their worst ever start to a season in the Super League and have now just one win in nine games. After flirting with relegation so much during their tenure in the highest tier of Pridnestrovian football, perhaps their time is finally up. But the players and the staff will surely do their best to make yet another great escape. Surely, they will. Will they?

The good news is that Arsenal de Releinthi are still undefeated. The bad news is that they're not on top of the table anymore. A tense 1-1 draw against Xemlice Rovers on matchday 18 saw the Gunners slip to second place, with Malabon SC taking full advantage by hitting Kimmirut Panhandle for six. Both teams won on matchday 19, which leaves Malabon on top of the Premier League at the season's halfway mark. More often than not, the team that is on top of the league at the halfway point of the season ends up being the winner. Does this mean that this is the season that Malabon will finally lift that elusive third Premier League title?

At the other end of the table, a few teams have fallen by the wayside. All-Inclusive Haranguer, Thereisnogodistan, and most surprisingly, Fleftic Air Force have fallen into the relegation dogfight, and it's becoming clearer that there will be a few more teams that will be involved in staving off relegation for this season. There's still all to play for in the Premier League, and everyone will be jostling for places come the end of the season. This might be the most exciting Premier League season yet!

The regular season of the Ladies' Premier League is finally over, and we finally have the teams that will have a chance at lifting the title come the end of the championship round, and we also have the teams that will still have a chance to push themselves off the bottom and save themselves for yet another LPL campaign. It's Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies who come out on top this time around, but Sporting Ceneisis Women gave them a really good chase for the entirety of the regular season. Xemlice, Uthilmir, Rosenpfelblatz, and Marinos will join Arsenal and Ceneisis for the race to the LPL title while Pawwazim, Ludogorets, Keephall, Sarvusdalamoive, Tiembabkh, and Eielo Sunlight will fight for their lives and their continued LPL status in the relegation round.

Down in the Second Division, after a slow start, Riuwiee United Women have picked up a lot of points and are now sitting pretty on top of the league as they come into the championship round. West Releinthi City Women also aim to bounce right back into the thick of things in the Premier League with Wanda Island, Kimmirut, Olistan, and Kazunad all making up the rest of the chasing pack for the championship. Down below, Ogovlich Medusas have summarily failed to continue their title challenge and have now fallen straight back into the relegation round. Duhblakk Aztecs, Buscargill, North Bay Boulevard, Tentenaraya, and Uranium City make up the rest of the teams who will struggle for their place in the Second Division.

Whoever said that the Pridnestrovian Super League is not exciting? That was certainly an incredible way to end the first half of the season. We were treated to two sumptuous rivalry matches and they both did not disappoint. In the first Battle of the Blues since Admiral Novorossiysk's return to the top tier, it was Dinamo Bender who came out on top following a headed goal from Oleg Barnadotskiy, a goal that may not make it into a best goals of the season compilation but one that Dinamo Bender fans will certainly treasure. The Tiraspol derby was also a great game, one that saw eight goals scored with Sheriff eventually coming out on top of their cross-town rivals CSKA on the back of a hat-trick from Fyodor Gallimov and a brace from the ever-dependable Vladislav Bogomolov. The win over CSKA sees Sheriff extend their lead at the top to five points, something that Sheriff fans will gladly take note of seeing as there has been a trend that the table-toppers on the end of the first half of the season go on to become the league winners. Sheriff hang on despite some slip-ups involving draws against Amzaceaspor and Star City FC as well as a 2-1 loss against the one-time former champions Fortuna Novonikolaysk. Speaking of the Fortune Giants, Novonikolaysk have tallied the biggest ever win in the Super League era with a 9 (yes, NINE) to nil victory over Star City. The Rocketmen thought that they had finally managed to break free of holding up the rest of the league in matchday 16 but this thrashing at Novonikolaysk sees them right back down to the foot of the table. The relegation dogfight is still tight though with six teams still within three points of the drop zone, while back on top, the rest of the big Pridnestrovian clubs are beginning to open up a gap between them and the rest of the league. Will Sheriff hang on and win back-to-back titles for the first time in eight years? Or will Admiral or CSKA pip the Sheriffs to the championship? Only the second half of the season will tell.

And we were all rooting for Malabon to hang on to the top. But poor form coming into the second half of the season derailed their chances, and now there's a ten-point gap between Malabon and Arsenal de Releinthi that looks a bit impossible to make up for the Magpies. Consecutive losses against relegation fodder Sarvusdalamoive and All-Inclusive Haranguer saw Malabon fall down to second place, and Arsenal snatched top spot and don't look like looking back. Godric Wexler is definitely not going to go out on a whimper, that's for sure. At the rate that he and his team are going, he might just be able to repeat the Invincibles season that he had with the same club back in the 2003-04 season. No one thought that Wexler had it in him to go undefeated once again. Looks like he's proving his critics wrong in his last year as manager of the Gunners. The rest of the top four looks to be shaping up as a battle between Wanda Island, Ludogorets, and Riuwiee United.

Meanwhile, the defending champions Rosenpfelblatz City don't look like they're doing a good job of defending their title, losing against teams they should have no business losing to. The most jarring of these defeats surely must be the 4-1 drubbing against Paulsen, who are actually doing well for a team that has been pegged to go down almost immediately. Six teams are still involved in the relegation fight, but the team with the most work to do has to be the Fleftic Air Force, who are six points adrift. Electric Yugal and Thereisnogodistan are predictably in the thick of things in beating the drop but most surprisingly, Wallace Partridge's All-Inclusive Haranguer are also perched precariously over the edge. After barely making it into the Globe Cup last season, perhaps the Sand Tigers' heads had gotten too big and they haven't focused on the big picture. If they don't clean up their act soon and pick up valuable points, they will surely pay the price of their arrogance.

Eielo Sunlight Women 2–2 Sporting Tiembabkh Women
Sarvusdalamoive Ladies 3–1 Pawwazim Ladies

Once again, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies and Sporting Ceneisis Women continue dominating the Championship Round of the Ladies' Premier League. The Lady Gunners lost two on the bounce but it hardly matters as they're still on top of the league by two points. If they can keep winning then it looks as if we might see an Arsenal versus Arsenal matchup for the Champions' Cup playoff. Down at the wrong end of the table, Eielo Sunlight Women are now just two games away from going back down to the Second Division. Sporting Tiembabkh Women are also close to the drop zone but at least they have a bit of a fool's chance to make it to safety. But it all depends on good form on their part, which will be hard.

Sheriff Tiraspol don't have both hands on the Super League trophy just yet, but they don't look like they're going to let it go easily either. Sheriff actually managed to open up a seven-point gap between them and their closest challengers, their intercity rivals CSKA Tiraspol but a goalless draw against Submarin Yeralenko and a victory by CSKA over Chernomorets Bratsk sees that gap reduced to just five points. CSKA might still be able to pip the title from their intercity rivals but that all depends on Sheriff slipping up. And Sheriff don't look like they're capable of slipping up. In fact, some people are already beginning to categorically say that Sheriff will retain the title. Perhaps these people began thinking that when Sheriff absolutely trashed their now-former title challengers Admiral Novorossiysk by seven (yes, SEVEN) goals to three. Not an absolute drubbing like the 9-0 defeat of Star City FC by Fortuna Novonikolaysk but still a dominating victory just the same.

Speaking of Star City, they're no longer propping up the rest of the table. That dubious honor now falls squarely on the shoulders of Lokomotiv Novosverdlovsk. They still have a chance of making a great escape just like Star City, Chernomorets Bratsk, Amzaceaspor, and Submarin Yeralenko. But it's definitely not yet a decided game just yet.

In the end, Godric Wexler's final season with Arsenal de Releinthi turned into a cakewalk to the Premier League title. The Gunners had the title wrapped up with five games to spare following a slim 1-0 victory over Fleftic Air Force, themselves fighting for their lives in the drop zone. Malabon SC gave them a good chase, at least up until the second half of the season when a poor run of form saw the Magpies drop away from the top spot. The title challenge then fell on Arsenal's eternal rivals Wanda Island Wanderers but even the Wanderers couldn't stop the Arsenal from clinching the Premier League title. The Gunners nearly made it all the way to the end of the season without a loss too; only Gustavo Potter's very late goal for Xemlice Rovers on matchday 37 prevented Godric Wexler for claiming that he is the only manager to have led one team to two Invincibles seasons. Oh, well. You can't have everything, as they say.

Kimmirut Panhandle and Fleftic Air Force's fates were sealed on the final matchday after a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Wanda Island for Kimmirut and a 5-2 demolishing by Sporting Ceneisis for the Air Force. The third team joining them down in Unang Liga is Thereisnogodistan, who dropped into 18th place after they lost against Riuwiee United and their fellow relegation battlers Electric Yugal and All-Inclusive Haranguer picked up vital wins against Paulsen and Locomotive Imgortur respectively.

Arsenal de Releinthi now have one foot in the door leading to the Champions' Cup. The same is true for Wanda Island Wanderers, Ludogorets Markovsky, and Riuwiee United. But before they can think about getting a taste of UICA football action, these four teams must square up against the top four teams of the Ladies' Premier League to determine the actual Fleftic participants in UICA competitions.

It's a men's and women's double for Arsenal as the Lady Gunners secure the Ladies' Premier League title with some room to spare in the final days of the championship round. Sporting Ceneisis gave the girls from Releinthi a good chase for their title defense but in the end, it was Arsenal who were powered to victory once again. We will get to see that Arsenal versus Arsenal matchup after, with the men's and women's sides squaring off to determine who will represent Abanhfleft in the Champions' Cup.

It's not all doom and gloom for Sporting Ceneisis Women though. Second place in the LPL means that they still have a chance to compete in the Globe Cup, along with Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies and Xemlice Rovers Ladies. These three LPL teams will face Wanda Island Wanderers, Ludogorets Markovsky, and Riuwiee United respectively for a chance to play in the Globe Cup.

Over in the relegation round, Eielo Sunlight Women barely even put up a fight as they drop back down to the Ladies' Second Division. Last year's Second Division champions Sporting Tiembabkh Women will join them in the drop zone, while Pawwazim Ladies will still play in the top tier of Fleftic women's football for at least one more season.

It's an immediate return to the Ladies' Premier League for Riuwiee United Women, who are joined to the top tier by Kimmirut Panhandle Women. The Pioneer Women have something to celebrate at least, unlike their male counterparts who have become victim to the drop. Riuwiee, Kimmirut, and West Releinthi City Women will also contest a spot in the Series B Champions' Cup against the top three sides in Unang Liga. North Bay Boulevard Women and Duhblakk Aztecs go down to the Ladies' Third Division, and they will be replaced by the two teams that were relegated last season, Athletic Motonou and Braganopolis United Ladies. Next season is sure to be very exciting now with these developments.

Sheriff Tiraspol successfully defend their title, making it their sixth in eleven years. But they really came close to losing it on matchday 33 when Sheriff lost 3-1 at home to Chernomorets Bratsk. The Sheriffs only won the title once again because CSKA Tiraspol slipped up and lost 2-1 away to Vorpommern Nyqvist. And this defeat at the hands of the Swedes allowed Dinamo Bender to slip into second place and finish above their eternal rivals CSKA for the third season running. But this gives CSKA a bite of the UICA pie by qualifying for the Globe Cup, and recently promoted Admiral Novorossiysk will have a chance to prove themselves in UICA after their first appearance there via the Series B Champions' Cup. It's finally curtains for Star City FC, who after three seasons of fending off relegation by the skin of their teeth now find themselves going back down to the National Premier Football League. Joining them there will be Lokomotiv Novosverdlovsk, and Chernomorets Bratsk will have to fight against the third-best team in the NPFL for their place in the Super League.

Something of note that happened in the final quarter of the 2023-24 season of the Super League: Admiral Novorossiysk and Chernomorets Bratsk set a new record for most goals scored in a Super League match in their 6-5 thriller at Bratsk, which the Seamen won. Admiral then immediately broke this record next week alongside Sheriff Tiraspol when the former won 7-5 against the league leaders. Whoever said that Pridnestrovia only plays boring and static football now? There's goals everywhere in this league! But that's all for now from the Pridnestrovian Super League. Tune in next season for more thrills, spills, goals, and action from the best league in the Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States of Pridnestrovia.

Dinamo Vitebsk took everyone by surprise by winning the National Premier Football League on their first season back in the second tier after five years in the Top League. They weren't even actually the winners of the Top League in the season that they were promoted; they won the relegation playoff against Atom Zheleznogorsk to take their place in the NPFL. Elektrik Admiralnaya makes an immediate return to the Super League after their relegation last season, while Latakiaspor finally sneak into the relegation playoff spot to earn a shot at promotion to the Super League for the first time in twenty years. All three teams also qualify for a place in the Series B Champions' Cup as well.

At the other end of the table, things have only gotten worse for Bierburger SV and Torpedo Yeralenko, both former Super League sides that have now fallen into the obscurity of the Top League. 1895 Lekhwiya Pepuza, the surprise champions of last season's Top League, still has a chance to stay in the NPFL if they win their relegation playoff against the third-best team from the Top League. And that is it for the NPFL review; next up is the Top League and the Pridnestrovian Cup.

Rosenpfelblatz North End make an immediate return to the top flight on the back of an impressive 30-goal campaign from their young striker from Mercedini, Misha Spartoni. Bananas FC also return to the Premier League after two seasons in Unang Liga, although they did have a chance to return immediately were it not for their promotion playoff final defeat against Electric Yugal. Wabash River also has a chance to return to the top flight of Fleftic football if they can survive the promotion playoffs against Pawwazim, Eielo Sunlight, and Gyouza Young Lads. The Swamp Men also take the final Series B Champions' Cup place for Abanhfleft.

At the bottom of the table, promoted teams Pamunas and Berezovsky United are going back down to Liga Ikalawa. Joining them will be Rodrigues FC, a side which has definitely fallen on hard times after their relegation from the Premier League six seasons ago. Will they be able to rebuild and bounce back or are they now doomed to slide further down the table?

2023-24 Pridnestrovian Cup

Postby Trans-Dniesters » Thu Feb 01, 2018 2:36 am

NOTE: Because of the difficulty in arranging year-round coverage of teams participating in the preliminary rounds of the Pridnestrovian Cup, international coverage has been restricted up to the first round proper.

Neptunas Neptun 2–0 Raketa Palatinsk
Submarin Yeralenko 2–1 Nickel Norilsk
Rotor Dnistrosh 1–3 Universitate Vanatori

Nothing much of note to report from the Pridnestrovian Cup first round. Most of the Pridnestrovian Super League sides survived to play on to the next round. Most of them. The biggest casualty of them all is Dinamo Macaresti, who fell victim to Top League side Wormatia Wewelsburg following a lone goal from the Dragons' striker Georg Henckie. One-time PSL champions Fortuna Novonikolaysk were knocked out by recently relegated side Palatine Opals. Aviapromet Olimp were trashed 3-0 by another Top League side, Larnakaspor. And Rotor Dnistrosh experienced fresh disappointment in the form of an early cup exit courtesy of a 3-1 defeat from Universitate Vanatori. Masyafspor also won't get a chance to repeat their historic cup run from last season as Petr Wolowitz and Bierburger SV saw to their elimination from the Pridnestrovian Cup.

Meanwhile, it's a mixed bag of results for those Super League sides that made it through to the second round. Admiral Novorossiysk, Sheriff Tiraspol, and Union Rheinburg all made it through on the back of comfortable victories, but Sheriff most of all. Not everyday do you see any team score seven goals in a Pridnestrovian Cup game, and Sheriff Tiraspol did just that against Baltika Belgorod. It just goes to show that football is such an unpredictable sport; you don't know the kinds of results that's going to come up when you're not paying attention.

2023-24 Pridnestrovian Cup Second Round
Renechev Revolution 1–2 Admiral Novorossiysk
Olimpia Strebsk 1–1 Palatine Opals (2–2 AET) (4–3 pen.)
Amzaceaspor 2–2 Dinamo Vitebsk (3–4 AET)
Lokomotiv Novosverdlovsk 0–4 CSKA Tiraspol
Ufa Verkhovyansk 1–1 Union Rheinburg (1–2 AET)
Avion Topraisar 1–0 Sheriff Tiraspol
Universitate Vanatori 1–0 Metallurgist Beledor
Larnakaspor 0–1 Neptunas Neptun
Traktor Bender 3–2 Bierburger SV
Submarin Yeralenko 0–2 Admiral Tuzla
Nickel Divnogorsk 1–5 Dimashqspor
Dinamo Bender 4–0 Hekel Teke
Elektrik Admiralnaya 1–1 Politehnica Pecineaga (1–1 AET) (8–9 pen.)
Szigetszentmiklos 0–3 Wormatia Wewelsburg
Star City FC 0–1 FK Pridnestrovskaya Gavan
Atom Zheleznogorsk 0–1 Submarin Admiralnaya

Well, well, well, looks like upsets are still a thing in the Pridnestrovian Cup. Just when we thought that Sheriff Tiraspol could very well be on course for their first ever domestic double and just after they absolutely trashed Baltika Belgorod, the Sheriffs and the defending Super League champions are unceremoniously dumped out of the cup by Avion Topraisar. Metallurgist Beledor don't have much to laugh about the league leaders though as they were also kicked out of the cup by Universitate Vanatori. And Star City FC say goodbye to their chances of lifting the Pridnestrovian Cup courtesy of FK Pridnestrovskaya Gavan. Meanwhile, the last side from the State Leagues still in the cup is Dimashqspor, who played a very big part in the elimination of the other remaining State Leagues side by defeating Nickel Divnogorsk 5-1. This edition of the Pridnestrovian Cup is getting more and more interesting by the round.

2023-24 Pridnestrovian Cup Third Round
Traktor Bender 1–1 Admiral Tuzla (2–1 AET)
Olimpia Strebsk 3–2 Avion Topraisar
Admiral Novorossiysk 2–1 Submarin Admiralnaya
FK Pridnestrovskaya Gavan 1–5 CSKA Tiraspol
Dimashqspor 0–1 Wormatia Wewelsburg
Neptunas Neptun 0–1 Dinamo Bender
Universitate Vanatori 0–0 Union Rheinburg (0–0 AET) (1–3 pen.)
Politehnica Pecineaga 2–0 Dinamo Vitebsk

Of course, just as we were beginning to think that the Pridnestrovian Cup was getting exciting once again, no upsets whatsoever happen in the third round. Oh, sure, a few Top League sides beat a few National Premier Football League sides but the main thing is that no Super League teams went out, at least not at the hands of teams from the lower leagues. Maybe Traktor Bender caused a bit of an upset with their win over Admiral Tuzla but let's be honest. Those two teams were very much evenly matched sides. Any one of them could have claimed the victory. But Union Rheinburg did come the closest to getting upset, and only penalties saved them from the shame of going out of the cup to a Top League team. And Wormatia Wewelsburg ends Dimashqspor's Pridnestrovian Cup dreams with a 1-0 victory. But let's not write off this cup just yet. There are still enough teams in this to cause an unexpected result or two in the Pridnestrovian Cup. Stay tuned and watch this space.

2023-24 Pridnestrovian Cup Quarterfinals
Traktor Bender 1–1 Dinamo Bender (1–1 AET) (3–2 pen.)
Union Rheinburg 0–3 CSKA Tiraspol
Wormatia Wewelsburg 0–0 Admiral Novorossiysk (1–1 AET) (3–1 pen.)
Politehnica Pecineaga 3–1 Olimpia Strebsk

Oh, now the Pridnestrovian Cup chooses to be interesting at the quarterfinals? Fair play then. Where shall we start, then? By far the biggest game in this round is the Bender derby between Traktor and Dinamo. Traktor may be at home but Dinamo were the clear favorites in this contest. And Traktor ignored all that and won against Dinamo anyway. 120 minutes of football saw only two goals between the two sides, one for each team, and it was only on penalties that a winner was finally decided. And that winner was Traktor Bender. Wormatia Wewelsburg did much the same thing against Admiral Novorossiysk but the goals only came in the thirty minutes of added time. On the other hand, it was a comfortable victory for CSKA Tiraspol against Union Rheinburg when everyone was expecting a very tight and close affair between these two teams so that was a bit of a letdown, and Politehnica Pecineaga edged out Olimpia Strebsk with a comfortable 3-1 home victory. The semifinalists are set, and it's time for the four remaining teams to face each other in a two-legged home-and-away series to determine the finalists.

2023-24 Pridnestrovian Cup Semifinals
Semifinal 1: Wormatia Wewelsburg vs CSKA Tiraspol

Leg 1 @ Wewelsburg-Stadium, Wewelsburg, Ixanian Socialist State
Wormatia Wewelsburg 0–1 CSKA Tiraspol

Leg 2 @ New Army Stadium, Tiraspol, Transnistrian Socialist State
CSKA Tiraspol 3–0 Wormatia Wewelsburg

CSKA Tiraspol advances to the Pridnestrovian Cup Final 4-0 on aggregate

Well, all good things must come to an end, and Wormatia Wewelsburg's journey to the Pridnestrovian Cup ends ironically at New Army Stadium. The Dragons did good to hold the Army Club to just one goal at the Wormatia-Stadion in Wewelsburg but when CSKA got home and greeted Wormatia, the Dragons simply had no chance. Of course, because CSKA progressed to the Pridnestrovian Cup Final, the site of the final will default to Dinamo-Stadion in Bender to ensure the neutrality of the cup final venue. New rules courtesy of the Pridnestrovian Football Union.

Semifinal 2: Politehnica Pecineaga vs Traktor Bender
Leg 1 @ Stadionul Gregor Matasereanu, Pecineaga, Ixanian Socialist State
Politehnica Pecineaga 0–1 Traktor Bender

Leg 2 @ Traktor-Stadion, Bender, Transnistrian Socialist State
Traktor Bender 3–1 Politehnica Pecineaga

Traktor Bender advances to the Pridnestrovian Cup Final 4-1 on aggregate

We expected this to be more of a fair fight, though. Poli Pecineaga and Traktor Bender were two very evenly matched sides on paper. This was a contest that was supposed to go all the way down to the wire. And that was what we appeared to have gotten when the first leg of this semifinal finished 1-0 to Traktor. We had no way of knowing about the great triumph of Traktor Bender to come in the second leg. Traktor scored three unanswered goals in front of their home fans, and Poli's only goal in the series came in the 90th minute, well beyond repairing any damage that Traktor had already wrought on them. So our Pridnestrovian Cup Final is between CSKA Tiraspol and Traktor Bender. Will CSKA be able to salvage some silverware out of this season or will Traktor Bender continue their rebuilding process by lifting the Pridnestrovian Cup? We will all find out soon enough.

2023-24 Pridnestrovian Cup Final
CSKA Tiraspol 1–0 Traktor Bender

Well, that was a bit of a surprise, wasn't it? Surprise being that there was actually no surprise involved at all. Or maybe there was a little surprise in there after all. Perhaps the surprise was that Traktor managed to hold CSKA to a single goal. But is it any surprise that it was none other than Wilfried Halberstam who scored the only and winning goal for CSKA in the Pridnestrovian Cup Final? We may never know. All we know is that CSKA Tiraspol have won the 2024 Pridnestrovian Cup Final, meaning that they get to go to the Cup Winners' Cup as Pridnestrovia's representative. Can they juggle that with the Globe Cup and the Super League? We will only find out next season, though.
