Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the not-so-distant future. Specifically, the 23rd Century. Space travel, a commonplace now, has become so easy and so fast that getting a flight from Earth to Mars, Venus, or any other terraformed colony at the nearest aerospaceport is as easy as buying a ticket to the nearest city on earth, all thanks to the efforts of the now non-existant Oxis Corporation. As the Earth becomes increasingly bureaucratic, overcrowded, dessicated, and downright boring, combined with the massive increase in travel to its fancy terraformed neighbors, vast megacorporations - such as your own - have begun to rise up and take initiative, whilst also attempting to combat increasingly dangerous and heavily-armed criminals and pirates both planetside and among the stars. These companies have all risen up and surpassed the tests of time, becoming incredibly powerful politically, militarily, and economically, whilst also attempting to either one-up rival corporations, criminals, or syndicalist rebellions, all looking to take the mantle of dominating the Solar System.

But as much as this is an exciting age of peace and advancement, it is also an age of conflict and chaos. With the utterly embarassing amount of effort that the UN is putting into stopping these dangers, it's time for the megacorporations to push past the bureaucracy and take matters into their own hands.

Which, obviously, is where you come in, Executive.

THE QUICK RUNDOWN





This is "CHIEF EXECUTIVE", a cyberpunk roleplay taking place in the not-so-distant future of January, 2251. This roleplay is mainly free-form, allowing for people and their corporations to do as they wish in a sort of sandbox environment (and to bask in the glory of an 80s/late 90s anime cyberpunk aesthetic), though there will be a grounded underlying plot on several occasions of the roleplay whilst also allowing for ample time to interact or fight with one another. In it, you shall make your own evil (or not-so-evil) megacorporation, where you will be able to define the lines between good and evil in a frantic scramble for dominance in the Solar System. The brunt of this roleplay shall deal with these various megacorporations which all arose after the fall of the massive Oxis Corporation in 2165 where, in the ashes of its fall, these megacorporations would begin to further assert their authority where Oxis once ruled, to such a huge extent that they would ultimately dominate nearly every facet of 22nd century life as we know it. Additionally, these megacorporations all will have to deal with a common enemy: Each other, first and foremost, but also the massive amounts of pirates, criminals, and syndicalist partisans all ruining amok on the streets of vast cities and asteroid belts alike.

You will be taking control of your very own megacorporation and respective CEO during this time, presented with an arsenal of mechs, mercs, and more guns than you could ever imagine to duke it out with your rival corporations as you wish, or to take up arms against the encroaching and increasingly dangerous criminal world - it's your choice.

THE LORE


Prepare for a big read, if you even bother reading it all.

World War Three was more or less just a big, fat, nuke-free joke for us. A joke for the world, and specifically for what direction that Wars later would be going into. Countries effectively did not exist at the turn of the century - it was just the UN now. 2100 marked the end of the three-year long Third World War in which, shockingly, nobody was bathed in nuclear fire. People died, of course, but no nukes flew, while the introduction of powerful new weapons and huge Private Military Corporations to use them ended the war relatively quickly and quietly in North Korea, Iran, and in South America. The world's population had grown exponentially as temperatures only began to rise higher and higher, whilst pollution levels increased as well in an increasingly desiccated and fossil fuel-reliant world. Massive, densely-populated megacities soon formed, with many of these metropoli rivaling the size of many small countries themselves with skyscrapers that pierced the clouds. More and more armies worldwide began to become privatized with the eventual centralization of the world government in the UN, seeing as how the UN's peacekeeping force was relatively lacking techology wise. The Oxis Corporation, the conglomerate of many gigantic fast food, information technology, defense, and pharmaceutical companies, was the first big sign that something big was coming: the rise of megacorporations. Free SIM cards and phones worldwide, corporate-sponsored space travel, and robots galore; if it was new and techy on the market, then Oxis was probably responsible for producing it and putting it on the market.

Oxis had a monopoly on nearly everything commercially, and was a menace globally, dwarfing any other company or world government that had come before it in just twenty years. Oxis phones, Oxis cars, Oxis condoms, Oxis cancer-eliminating drugs, you name it. The company was the benchmark of what any megacorporation should be today, but, one day, they made one major mistake:

They went to space.

In 2140, Oxis took advantage of the UN - now the world's primary world governing body - and its utter lack of awareness of the current technological situation in the world, and took to the stars. As a private venture, Oxis guided the population of an overpopulated and desiccated Earth to space without any major restrictions from the UN, establishing colonies far and wide on planets and moons in the far reaches of the Solar System such as Titan, Europa, and Mars. In just under twenty years, Oxis's space program had easily dwarfed any other space expedition in history with its unprecedented speed and cheapness. With the introduction of huge Atmosphere Processing Plants for terraforming and incredibly powerful nuclear engines, Oxis pretty much had colonies on nearly every planet in the solar system, including Venus, with much effort. As more and more people flocked to the Oxis colonies for work or for better lifestyles, huge cities began to form on each of the colony planets, whilst more and more resentment was built up against the bureaucratic UN's inefficiency to monitor Oxis. Hatred against Oxis rose as well, with many people criticizing the megacorporation for its alleged poor treatment of workers and total monopoly on the market.

This spree of vast and rapid space travel came to an abrupt crash in 2147, when an organization known as the National Secessionist Front, a syndicalist rebellion centered in Mars, declared unilateral independence from the Oxis colonies and from Earth. The carnage that ensued from the riots and skirmishes quickly transformed formerly peaceful city streets and aerospaceports into bloody war zones almost instantly, as terrorist attacks and piracy absolutely exploded in the Solar System. Oxis, already set back by several economic busts and crashes in previous years and faced with competition from rising megacorporations, was already on a path to capitulation as its own private forces could not keep up with an increasingly tech-savvy and highly-organized enemy. Beset on all sides by the NSF and pirate groups, and on the verge of total bankruptcy, Oxis ultimately collapsed in 2165, but not before taking the NSF and its rebellion with it. Secret operations into the NSF by Oxis's armed sector led to the capitulation of the revolt, after it was unable to keep up with itself after being stricken with internal coups almost instantly after Oxis fell, all thanks to a coincidental lack in leadership.

The void in authority was contested for nearly 35 years, but, in the wake of Oxis's collapse, new giants emerged. This is where you come in, by the way. Megacorporations, all modeled off of the success of Oxis, re emerged to dominate life in the solar system, stomping out any authority that the UN, a mere shell of its former self, had left, if any. These megacorporations grew exponentially in power, clout, and strength, rivaling anything ever seen before, and even surpassing the strength and influence of Oxis itself.

But, there still remained a big problem. Big problems, actually. Oxis's collapse allowed piracy and crime alike to run rampant in the colonies and on earth, with an estimated four million crimes taking place every day on Earth alone, be it big or small. The UN's failure to provide any sort of reaction to the crime seemed to mean that the megacorporations would step in now, but one more problem remained, which would surpass any other problem seen as of late:

The NSF's remnants were back, bigger and badder than ever before. With vast megafactories out in deep space and on remote moons producing their arsenal for war, the NSF now gladly arms criminals, terrorists, and pirates alike, with goals to provoke a large proxy war against the UN, and, by extent, the megacorporations. As a result, petty criminals and pirates now began to become much less of a nuisance nowadays and more of a significant threat, thanks to their new high tech goodies of destruction provided by the NSF. Recently, one of the biggest and deadliest terrorist attacks in history took place after an entire space station was destroyed by a NSF strike fighter, showing how the war against crime has since gone interstellar. In the advent of this chaos, megacorporations, mercenaries, and bounty hunters alike all have begun to attempt to drive back the encroaching threat that the NSF and other like-minded criminal syndicates pose, whilst also attempting to keep one another and criminal groups in check.

The rest, as you would later find out, is history. Now is the time for you to rise to the challenge just like Oxis did, Executives. Will you grow to dominate the Solar System and destroy the NSF once and for all alongside your fellow conglomerates? Or will you choose to loom in the shadows, waiting to strike at your rivals to take all the glory for yourself?

ON TECHNOLOGY

Anything in bold is pretty important. In short, technology as it pertains to this RP is weird. It's a bit difficult to follow, but it's not too different from other franchises and universes people have seen before. It follows a typical hard sci-fi setup minus powerful space travel, forcefields, or any of those goodies, but it's still got that gritty 80s/90s cyberpunk anime touch to it. For a basic description, think Blade Runner or humanity in the Aliens franchise. Technology here is meant to be realistic, or something that we would likey be seeing in our real life future, but that does not mean that it is restricted. In fact, anything would typically go here, save for FTL travel, forcefields (which are in prototype), or psionics. Artificial gravity is only limited to space stations and large spaceships (the latter of which is still a rarity), whilst things such as cybernetic enhancements, nanomachines, and AI are fair game, provided that they're within reason. Any and all sort of tech included in apps is subject to be reviewed and/or possibly rejected, depending on how I feel.

Much like in the real world, no aliens exist (or any that we know of), and Faster than Light travel is something that we'd probably be seeing by the 2600s rather than now. What does exist in this universe that differs from our own, however, is the difference in speed of space travel. For the sake of this universe, space travel is insanely quick, with a regular flight from New York City to the moon taking a little under 7 hours, more or less, depending on the spacecraft used. Obviously, travel to distant planets and moons such as Titan takes significantly longer - we'll be going into the double digit hours on that range. Military spacecraft are significantly faster than regular spacecraft, of course, but generally space travel has become such a common thing that it's foolish to think that it'll take long to get from point A to point B in the Solar System in weeks, or even months. This is all thanks to powerful nuclear impulse engines, which Oxis patented, by the way. These engines are incredibly fuel efficient and allow for extremely fast travel in atmosphere and space, while the need for solid or liquid fuel in space has since been eliminated. Humanity has since terraformed nearly every terrestrial planet and moon in the Solar System save for Mercury, all thanks to powerful Atmospheric Processing Plants. Settlements on areas without atmospheres exist instead in specialized biodomes.

Regular bullets and guns have since been replaced by pulse rifles, plasma guns, laser guns, railguns, and gauss guns, while thermonuclear weapons, cruise missiles, and orbital railguns have still steadily been reserved for last resort use. Megacorporations nowadays are always finding ways to make guns bigger and badder, especially with the threat of a resurgent NSF. Many megacorporations actively produce mechs that, albeit their size and strength, are still vulnerable to conventional means, as the image to the right suggests...

These vehicles, known properly as Mechanized Fighting Vehicles,, steadily began to phase out traditional tracked or wheeled armored vehicles such as tanks, thanks to their incredible mobility and tank-grade durability. Despite this, these Mechs are still vulnerable due to an increasingly dangerous environment which they fight in, and higher-powered weaponry built specifically for destroying them being introduced to the battlefield. Although they face great danger, Mechs are still an effective and widely-used platform, on the civil, police, and military spectrums alike. A typical mech is around 12-15 feet tall, but their weight varies.

Of course, technology here is free form. It does not have to be specifically from what's available, but remember that I still reserve the right to judge any sort of technology or weapon as acceptable or not.

RULES



  1. I run the RP (with any folks I choose to be Co-ops), and our word is law. Follow it.
  2. I reserve the right to grade and evaluate any and all sort of technology or weaponry included in your apps that is not from the technology lecture. If I feel as if it's not good for the setting, I'll deny it. Make sure to stay within reason.
  3. Do not Godmod or Metagame: Godmodding is defined as your character or nation doing something inexcusably overpowered or otherwise deemed as "bullshittery." Stay within logic and reason, one soldier cannot take on a whole band of criminals and expect to live, and one Megacorporation can't destroy the entirety of the NSF in one run. Stay within reason. Metagaming is a bit different - this is defined as your character or nation knowing things that they couldn't possibly know, such as a mercenary knowing the location of every criminal in a city without even knowing the layout of the city itself. Same goes for technology. If you ever have a question about tech, feel free to DM me.
  4. Don't be a dick: This applies to both OOC thread and Discord. I presume everyone here is mature enough to handle themselves and know the difference between banter and blatant flaming. A character can be a total asshole in the IC, but that's no excuse to be one in the OOC.
  5. No One Liners: I cannot stress this enough. You posts must have at least three full lines of text per each IC post. Anything less than that is generally frowned upon and considered laziness, thus making it unacceptable. Anything greater is acceptable and is smiled upon, mostly.
  6. No 'Dick measuring' contests/Wanking: This is defined as when two people argue over which character or corporation is better. Sure, debating on whether or not X is more powerful than Y, or showing off any of your tech to others, that's okay and all, but don't turn it into a blatant and violent competition in the OOC or IC. This doesn't contribute to anything and just causes unnecessary conflict in the OOC/Discord. Everybody and everything in this roleplay has their strengths and their weaknesses. No one thing is blatantly better than the other. The moment two people are seen excessively power wanking, they will receive a warning.
  7. Keep it Clean: This is a general NS rule, and at this point is the law of the land. Keep the RP PG-13. I understand it's a bit of a blurred line between what's PG-13 and what's R nowadays and that this site has a big age range, but so long as it's nothing sexually explicit, or overly violent, it's passable. If it's a horribly grotesque and frighteningly realistic torture scene or a pretty damn well written sex scene, it's probably not gonna be allowed by me or the mod patrol. If it's the aftermath of the aforementioned scenes or is faded to black before things get heated, then it'll be okay to post. This is no place to act out deviant fetishes.
  8. No multicolor or odd dialogue: I understand that Nationstates's format is hard to read for some people - that's what the dark theme is for. Bottom line is, no colored text, and no italicized/bolded/underlines paragraphs. Reserve them for their proper use instead of using them for everything. Please try to make it at least readable, as well. In short, if you feel we can't read the post without having our eyes blinded by insane technicolor text or can't follow the post, then don't post it.
  9. If you have a problem with a player for any reason, politely take it to TG. If that does not work, contact an OP or a CoOP. Do not turn the OOC thread or discord into your own battleground between your opponent in question.
  10. I am granting you a 72 hour (3-day) grace period to post if you're holding someone back or keeping us waiting in an important moment. Inactivity is excusable with proper and prior notice, but after that period, you will be forced to move on by the OP or Co-Op, whether you post it or not. Same deal goes for long-term surprise inactivity.
  11. NPCs are permitted for RP, such as to roleplay small squads in a megacorporation team or other people of interest, but if you plan to commit them for long-term, app them as a proper character.
  12. Try to get others involved as well: Just generally be friendly. Don't turn this into a personal writing haven, try to get others involved, even if you don't want to. RPing with others, at least to most people, happens to be more entertaining than RPing with yourself. A major facet of this RPing is focused on interaction.

APPEARANCE: Stands at a rather large 6'1 and weighing in at 200 lbs when not in full combat gear. Describe as an imposing, attentive young woman by most people. Generally considered attractive an slim build, with obvious feminine characteristics and body contours typical of a woman with regular exercise. Attentive gray eyes and blonde hair, which is cut down to a ponytail. Somewhat pale complexion with no other notable markings, aside from a standard neural interface plug on the back of her neck.

CYBERNETICS:
  • Avatar Class 1 Full-Body Cybernetic Enhancements; replacing the body's physical exterior with a cybernetic body, similar to that of an android. The muscles and the skeleton have also been reworked to become a fully cybernetic system. As a result, one's physical strength, speed, and agility would be enhanced drastically, whereas their resistance to damage would be increased.
  • Avatar Class 2 Full-Body Synthetic Replacements; Most of the user's biological body has been replaced with cybernetic and synthetic organs and parts, allowing for the quicker repair of body parts and injuries using nanomachines. Effectively, the user's body has become fully cybernetic, save for the brain. Traits such as hair color. eye color, or skin pigment, can be changed on the fly using nanomachines, as well.
  • Savant Bioelectronics Oculus Mk.3 Bionic Eyes; granting the user drastically increased visual capability and the ability to access a HUD and the Meganet on the fly, among other computer systems around the world. By extent, this allows the user to see in the ultraviolet and infrared spectrums, as well as night vision and X-ray, with the respective implants.
  • Standard-issue Neural Interface; for interfacing with and integrating into most computer systems, spacecraft, and MFVs.

  • Raptor-6 Magnum: A high-powered handgun with an impressive kick, the Raptor-6, despite its small size, is essentially a hand cannon, in the arms of anyone who knows how to shoot it well. It is a selective fire, recoil-operated, magazine-fed, large-caliber handgun, with the ability to fire a quick two round burst. The sidearm fires 12.7mm × 40mm SAP-HE (Semi-Armor Piercing, High Explosive) rounds from a 12-round magazine. In addition to a laser light/flashlight, the weapon can be issued with a smart-linked scope, linked to the user's Heads Up Display.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born on July 1, 2226, Lucy is the twin sister of Joseph Savant, the chief executive of Savant Bioelectronics. Both Lucy and Joseph were present at the Savant Martian Testing Site during its attack in 2235, where they vowed to enact their revenge against the NSF attackers that killed their father and decimated the site. Rather than choosing to go on ahead to lead Savant Bioelectronics herself like her father would have expected her to do, Lucy chose instead to give that honor to her brother, and entered into the security branch of the corporation, feeling it necessary to take matters into her own hands rather than leaving it up to robots. Taking a spot in the elite Internal Affairs division of the Security Branch, Lucy was responsible for rooting out corruption and dissent in the corporation and dispatching a number of criminals, pirates, and NSF sympathizers alike.

Her lust for revenge against the NSF came close when she was involved in a raid on a NSF outpost, in which she was nearly killed by an improvised explosive device at a dangerously close range. Rather than let her die and take over the entire company, Joseph decided to give his sister a second chance: by using the company's advanced cybernetics and medical technologies, Joseph was able to save his sister by giving her a full cybernetic makeover. Her old body would be gone, but her new body would be stronger, faster, and better than the old. As the first official subject of Savant's highly classified Avatar Program, Lucy was effectively turned into an android, her body and mind preserved in a strong cybernetic body that allowed her to do the one thing she longed for - to enact her revenge on the NSF.

HISTORY:
One of the many megacorporations that sprung forth from the fall of the Oxis Corporation, the company that would later become known as Savant Bioelectronics can trace its origins back to the corporation of the same name, Savant Pharmaceuticals. By the time that Oxis launched its space program, Savant had come to dominate the medical field of the world, producing the world's first cybernetic prosthetic arms, as well as as an experimental method to stop cancer using nanomachines. Thanks to a massive black budget funded by the United States in return for providing advanced combat robots and medical technologies to the military, Savant Bioelectronics became a giant in the medical field, with a number of doctors and researchers from the CDC and other hospitals joining the corporation in wake of the gradual privatization of the American Healthcare System - and America in General. By the time the UN became the world's sole governing body, Savant Bioelectronics had outgrown its American masters, evolving into something capable of competing with Oxis itself on some points.

However, Oxis was simply too large and growing too powerful for the mere thought of a company like Savant Surpassing it to even come to fruition, so Savant simply kept to itself while Oxis went to space. In the time between doing this and Oxis's fall in 2165, Savant had created and founded its own private military, refined its experimental cure to cancer, and had begun mass producing robots, seeking to sell them to the weakened Oxis and eventually surpass them, taking the prize for destroying the NSF themselves.

However, none of this happened at all, yet opened a great opportunity to the fledgling superpower: Oxis had taken the NSF with it in its fall, and large companies that once lived off of Oxis's success rose up to compete for the void of power. By that time, Savant had become arguably the most technologically advanced megacorporation on the playing field, simply buying out its smaller companies or locking them into contracts, essentially puppeting them in the process.

At the turn of the century, everyone knew that the playing field was now occupied and competed over by a new, shady, technologically-advanced megacorporation on the block. Specializing in the production of androids and cybernetics for various purposes - be it for work, combat or sex, as well as holding many minor industries in the medical, security, and A.I production field, Savant Bioelectronics had made its presence known in a little over 50 years or so after the fall of the NSF and Oxis. With the advent of the latter's collapse creating a large power vacuum in the Solar System, Savant Bioelectronics, like other new megacorporations, quickly stepped in to fill the void, and to gain the favor of the increasingly bureaucratic UN. Savant itself became the prime producer of combat androids and MFVs for the UN, serving as replacements for it's steadily waning manpower. Pretty soon, Savant androids became ubiquitous, with some of the few synthetics granted with Artificial Intelligence even going out and blending in with the increasingly augmented human population even more.

Savant reached a very large, and very unexpected bump in the road when the NSF suddenly resurfaced after nearly 90 years of total silence. Backed by a new leadership and working on the payroll of a huge black market and anonymous funders, the NSF quickly launched a series of strikes throughout the solar system, attacking the bases and stations of many corporations - including Savant, with its new arsenal of large, powerful spaceships, modern MFVs, and powerful laser cannons. Savant's own Martian testing site near Mobius City, renowned for its security akin to a fortress, was destroyed in the chaos in 2235, while the entire Solar System watched in horror and shock, the likes of which was rivaled only by the 9/11 terrorist attacks, as a NSF strike fighter attacked and destroyed a massive space station above Earth, killing hundreds of thousands of lives in the process.

With little to no response from the bogged down UN too busy focusing on keeping itself together and stopping NSF-backed criminals back home, many corporations like Savant were all present for the UN Security Contract, which gave megacorporations the right to fight the NSF in the UN's name, where they are promised a handsome reward for their actions in the end. Of course, Savant did not even need the "reward" - so long as the NSF was being killed and that sweet spot that Oxis once held was still open, they were more than happy to compete for that space.

    • Goliath MBT - A heavy tank with an even heavier 120mm railgun, capable of potentially destroying MFVs in one hit, provided it hits the MFV at all.
    • PALLAS CIWS - A gauss-based CIWS system commonly mounted on ground emplacements or on space stations. Also comes in a SAM launcher version with vacuum-capable missiles.
    • Spartan AT Missile Launcher - An incredibly simple to use guided AT missile system with the potential to disable or downright destroy MFVs. Can lock on to targets or manually fly to them.

    MFVs

    • "Wolfram"-class MFV - A MFV with a notably larger amount of armor than most MFVs, which is occasionally seen carrying an obviously larger weapon than most... being a two-handed heavy railgun. The Wolfram's weaponry varies from dedicated anti-armor Super Heavy Assault Carbines (SHACs) and heavy railguns, but mostly the former. A solid mix between armor and maneuverability for a variety of situations.
    • "Valkyrie"-class MFV - Equipped with a deployable jump pack that may be completely detached should the need not arise, but otherwise comes attached on by stock. The jump pack uses heavy turbojet engines to lift the MFV up and glide, meaning it is not true flight. This allows it to gain vertical mobility that most MFVs do not possess. Armament ranges from SHACs, Railguns, missile launchers, and more.

    Aircraft

    • AV-11 VTOL - Nimble stealth VTOL gunships, based on an archaic 20th century design to a helicopter, known as the "Comanche". Armed with HELLION ATGMs, ASRAM air-to-air missiles, and a powerful 30mm rotary autocannon.
    • Razorback Transport Helicopter - Inspired by a 20th century gunship/transport helicopter, known as the Hind. Functions like a sporting yacht in atmosphere and capable of defending itself with a powerful 20mm autocannon, but otherwise lacking in the weapons category.
    • UCAV-18, Reporting name "Bandit" - Unmanned Air Vehicles functioning as reconnaissance craft, and, on occasion, combat craft. Capable of being mounted with HELLION ATGMs, ASRAM AAMs, FALCHION AGMs, and laser-guided bombs.
    • Talon SSTO - Large transport craft capable of reaching orbit unassisted, but armed with a relatively small amount of weaponry. Commonly used to carry supplies and people orbit, and for traveling long distances on supply missions.

    Spacecraft

    • YF-18X Strike Fighter, Reporting Name "Wolf Star" - Fast SSTO-capable spacecraft that are equipped to engage in dogfights and attack orbital or ground targets, with a relatively large amount of ASRAM missiles, Vacuum-capable missiles, AGMs, and dual 20mm rotary gauss autocannons.
    • YF-20X Attack Fighter, Reporting Name "Thunderchild" - Nimble, tough SSTO-capable spacecraft with a much larger focus on long-range weaponry than dogfighting weaponry, used to destroy orbital targets like spacecraft, and terrestrial targets using guided bombs.
    • Savant Bioelectronics Dagger-class Combat Ship - The largest spacecraft employed by Savant Bioelectronics, measuring about 200m long and 164.4 meters wide, and 73 meters high. Capable of reaching orbit by itself and armed with a large amount of weaponry.

After 90 years of total silence following its initial collapse, the NSF was ready to show its face to the world again - and it did so in a bang. The entire Solar System watched in horror as the syndicalist paramilitary group, with a strong new leadership and a fancy arsenal of spaceships and MFV, launched an offensive on the system the like of which had only been seen during the Tet offensive. In a little over a month, the NSF, after having resurfaced from quite literally nothing, had launched successful shock-and-awe attacks on nearly every planet, base, and city in the Solar System, culminating into their ultimate attack on a massive space station above earth, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians.

Too busy focusing on keeping itself together and stopping NSF-backed criminals back home, the UN has granted the dozens of active megacorporations the ability to fight the NSF for a handsome reward, so long as they fight in the name of the UN. On the more local end, it has also offered up hefty rewards to anyone willing to capture NSF figures of leadership and bring them back to the International Criminal Court.

"RC RIOT"


Robots are ubiquitous nowadays. Androids and robots with elaborate programming walk and talk among the regular populace, accepted as normal members of society. The threat of hacking, however has become a particular danger, especially to these robotic and synthetic communities. Recently, there have been multiple incidents of what has become referred to as "remote-control riots" - where robots and synthetics lose control of themselves (at the hand of an outside source) and violently attack everything in sight.

An anonymous UN inspector is offering a hefty reward to anyone, solo or alone, who will locate the source of these disturbances and bring the hacker to justice. They are hoping to find this before the annual Robot March on Mars, where a large number of robots and synthetics are expected to attend.

Working under the name of 'Hyperion Heavy metal works', it soon became successful after a metalwork scandal in Japan, resulting in it slowly becoming one of the forefront companies in metal production as the metal produced used with new and old methods fused had created cheap, but strong metal. Within 20 years, they had become one of the largest metal producers within the region and had slowly expanded into other industries.

During the 3rd world war, they began powering out metal for the Japanese military, rapidly expanding to monopolize part of the Asian market as they remained neutral by selling metal to everyone which gave them the funds to start up a private military. As the war slowly ended, the company had a massive dent in their total industry with men killed from all around the world and compensation letters to be sent out with cash. As the Oxis Corporation rose to power, the Hyperion Corporation was now born as they joined the corporation and mainly did metal work production, however with the passing of time more different products began to be produced.

As the Oxis corporation fell, Hyperion slowly rose up and proved itself in weaponry production with their high quality but cheap goods. The corporation slowly began expanding as their weaponry proved pivotal, leading to it slowly consuming and annexing more and more corporations and their research. But due to the increase in piracy, the security division, the name for the military of the corporation, was formed with full authority over all forces. This led to a lower piracy rate with how efficient they were in elimination. With the rise of NSF, the corporation has now authorized order: Riseon, the full elimination of pirates, criminals and the NSF.

-HHW Type-301 Model-A Assault rifle: A light but highly capable weapon, the gun relies on railgun powering technology as a form of propulsion, using 50 mm long projectiles stuffed with either poison or incendiary materials as ammunition. It is designed with the pure idea of suppressing troops, which was the main reason as to why emergency modification kits were made when new problems arose. HISTORY: Osiris started as a subsidiary of one of Earth's largest pharmaceutical industries at the turn of the millennium that was created to research into the new field of gerontological drugs. As a start-up at the time of the Dot Com bubble, it weathered the financial storm of the early part of the twenty-first century remarkably well, although it failed to deliver a human-viable treatment for its parent company, despite several promising animal tests. A management buy-out in 2034 was accepted, with the larger parent company seeking to divest itself of this loss-making section of its giant research arm. Within 3 years of independence Osiris announced trials of its first human anti-aging drug, to much fanfare, media speculation and venture capitalist interest. Some decried Osiris' plans as doing nothing to help the growing global population, but demand for their potential product all but silenced even the most vocal of critics. Initial tests were a horrendous failure, despite the most promising animal tests, the human subjects either died almost immediately from acute toxicity (from unknown and unexpected by-products of the drugs) or, for the few percent whose bodies survived the toxic load, a massive cancer growth throughout their entire bodies within eight months. Osiris' financial support collapsed under the weight of the compensation claims and it found itself unable to get insurance for any more human testing. It struggled on, selling anti-aging drugs to pet owners who didn't wish to see their pets grow old and die.

By the time WWIII rolled around, Osiris was on the verge of bankruptcy, the patents on its drugs had expired earlier that decade and all the larger pharmaceutical companies now were producing their own 'immortal pet' drugs, investors were still skittish about the company, despite the forty year success in the pet sector. Ironically, it was the war, and the heightened sense of mortality that came around because of it, that was Osiris' saving grace. A successful human trial was completed in 2112 (with several rumours coming out that Osiris' research during the war years was decidedly unethical) and Osiris saw its profits, and stock value, sky-rocket. It carefully, and luckily, avoided a buy-out by Oxis in 2134, a hundred years after its own incorporation, but faced difficulties in the market due to Oxis' dominance in almost every field. The level of glee and opportunism on the board of Osiris at the fall of Oxis would be hard to understate. In the years since Oxis' demise, Osiris used its new market prominence to diversify and explode as one of the system's most prominent transnational corporations.

Rumours persist about Isis; that she is far older, one of the original recipients of the early tests of the anti-aging drugs in the 2110's, that she was once a man, even that she is a clone of one of the original management team back in the early 21st century. Her closely guarded personal life only heightens the rumour mill, but no one can deny that she has guided Osiris through its most successful period of profit and growth. She has a reputation for brilliance and ruthlessness, with the good of company being more important than anything else; many a reckless employee has met their end at the hands of Osiris' internal security division due to their lack of adherence to Isis' vision. Widely travelled, Isis is very much a hands-on executive, willing to take part in negotiations, not only with rival executives of other corporations, but also third-party suppliers, disgruntled workers and even, it is said, terrorist groups. She renounced her own Indian citizenship in 2245, claiming sovereign citizenship of Aaru, on Ganymede, along with all other members of the board and most of Osiris' off-world employees. At ninety-four years old, it is clear Isis is the recipient of her company's own products (along with most of the system who can afford it), but, as no drug is 100% perfect yet, age will eventually catch up with her. What the future holds is still to be seen.

SECURITY TECHNOLOGIES: Osiris is well known for using chemicals to boost the effectiveness of its employees and agents and is rumoured to have stockpiles of many chemical and biological weapons that would list quite highly on any proscribed 'illegal' weapons, should such a thing exist. Osiris prides itself on having 'inoffensive' looking military tech, ostensibly to put consumers at ease, but also as a marketing tool.
STANDARD INFANTRY WEAPON:
GH-5 Flechette Rifle
The main armament for all Osiris soldiers, this is a 5.56 mm calibre, rifled flechette firing gun, made mainly of an advanced polycarbonate plastic. It has a firing rate of 2200 rpm cyclic rate and a muzzle velocity of nearly 1500 m/s, typically set in a 3-round semi-automatic setting, although single shot and fully automatic are selectable. It has an effective range of 800 m for a point target and 1000 m for an area target. The magazine holds 48 rounds in the bullpup configuration. The depleted uranium flechette rounds penetrate ballistic armour well, and have a low rate of velocity loss, typically breaking apart inside a soft target causing two wound pathways. Their penetration of harder surfaces, such as walls, is limited with ricochets uncommon due to the high velocity of the round.

GP-2 Pistol
The standard issue sidearm for officers, as well as support personnel such as engineers when in the field. A 5.56 mm calibre, semi-automatic pistol firing the same flechette rounds found in the GH-5 but with a much shorter effective range, lack of automatic setting and magazine size, only holding 22 rounds.

GR-70 Support Rifle
Standard armament issued to designated marksmen and scout units, the GR-70 is a semi-automatic, 15 mm sabot-discarding anti-material/personnel rifle based on the same flechette technology used in other Osiris weapons. It has an effective range of 2000 m and a muzzle velocity of 1400 m/s, capable of penetrating a 5 cm armour plate. The magazine holds 20 rounds in the common bullpup configuration.

Tesla Gauss Rifle
A large-bore coilgun, firing a sabot-discarding kinetic energy projectile (KEP) at a muzzle velocity of 2000 m/s and with an effective range of 2000 m and a recharge time of 3 seconds. Designed to penetrate and destory armoured targets, it is usually mounted on a recoil adsorbing tripod and operated by 2 soldiers due to its 20 kg weight (without ammo case) and bone breaking recoil. The power pack holds enough charge for 45 shots. Ideal for armoured targets such as tanks and bunkers but its relatively slow rate of fire makes it inaccurate when used on aircraft and infantry.

Polaris Particle Rifle
Generates a pulse of charged particles that explode upon contact with a solid object in a ball of super-heated plasma with a large 5m blast radius. Contact is virtually instantaneous upon firing and although its effective range is variant on environmental conditions (like humidity or airborne particulates), typical range is around 1500 m before blooming of the beam stops the creation of the plasma cloud. The weight of the weapon without power pack is only 12 kg, but the large battery and capacitors increase this to 20 kg, necessitating the use of a tripod for standard infantry. The power pack holds charge for 50 shots. Ideal for use against light vehicles, helicopters and low-flying aircraft, as well as some effectiveness against infantry in packed formation. Heavier armour, particularly ablative or reactive, resists well, although thermal damage is still inflicted.

Arktos Rotary Cannon
Essentially the same principles of the flechette rifles, but scaled up in both rate of fire and speed using the standard 5.56 mm calibre flechettes., and made of the same advanced polycarbonate plastic. It has a firing rate of 6000 rpm and a muzzle velocity of nearly 2500 m/s and an effective range of about 1000 m. Standard drum magazines carry 10,000 rounds. The depleted uranium flechette rounds penetrate ballistic armour well, and are even capable of penetrating light vehicle armour. Typically used to saturate an area with fire to eliminate personnel targets and carried by two-man teams as a support weapon for infantry.


STANDARD INFANTRY:
A standard Osiris Security soldier wears full body ballistic and ablative combat armour, totally environmentally sealed and climate adjusted. Helmet contains usual low-light and IR capabilities, a HUD linked to the Warriors weapon sights and ammo count, relays a tactical map of the area with locations of friendly units and identified enemy locations. Helmet mounted camera records the everything the soldier can see. The suit monitors vital signs and administers pain relief and stimulants when needed, transmitting the information back to a central command post. Powered by a small radiothermal battery, good for years without refueling. In almost all situations, soldiers are required to cover their armour with appropriately coloured cloaks, to conceal their overt military nature. Most Osiris Security soldiers are unaugmented humans who serve approximately ten years before the cocktail of drugs given begins to take its toll.

Osiris Acquisition soldiers typically wear much heavier armour, with a far more militaristic feel, and are often deployed in drop-pods or dropships. Soldiers are equipped with sensory and suit-feedback cybernetic enhancements to raise their operational effectiveness.

Special Operations' agents have fully synthetic bodies and wear whatever is appropriate for their mission, although its often just a plain black suit and tie with overcoat. Concealed weapons and high-end cybernetics are common.

STANDARD MFV/MECH:
SCB-6 "Scarab" MFV
The development history of the Scarab MFV was a long protracted affair with the replacement of the entire design team at least twice. Originally intended to be a bipedal, 70 tonne monstrosity, capable of taking on opponents of a combined mass many times it's own, the original prototype was far too slow and whilst the curved body showed excellent potential at deflecting incoming rounds, the mech's height made it a painfully obvious target. Additionally, the balance systems were not up to scratch, which led to the frequent loss of balance and subsequent toppling of the machine. Attempts to wire the mech's systems directly into the pilot were scrapped after it induced severe motion sickness, often to the extent of incapability. The lead designer promptly quit, but took most of the engineering team with him, and ending up building agricultural robots on Mars for a rival corporation.

The next iteration altered the design to a hexapedal design, inspired by the stability found in other similar walkers. The design specifications had also been altered, from a heavy assault mech to urban combat. Whilst the new design significantly lowered the mech's centre of mass, and made for a highly stable weapon's platform, it required an advanced AI to handle the walking mechanisms and introduced an unacceptable delay in pilot control. It was also even slower than the original bipedal design and it became dangerously vulnerable in built up areas. Initial live-fire trials of the prototype were a dismal failure; basic infantry units armed with armour-piercing missiles were able to disable the legs with ease, confusing the AI and rendering the mech immobile. The lurching and jostling movement was also reported to be extremely uncomfortable for the pilot. The XO of Osiris Weapons Division liked the aesthetics of the machine, however, and this was the mitigating factor when the lead designer was removed from the project and relocated to the Belt.

The new design team kept most of the innovations from the previous model but scrapped two of the legs and replaced the feet of the MFV with spherical 'ball-feet' previously seen on Osiris' 'Guardian' light mech, a design that, whilst revolutionary, had found no proper role and had been scrapped some years previously. The MFV's size was also reduced by almost 50%. The combination of the reduced mass and the highly agile ball-feet led to a mech with almost unparalleled urban agility, capable of a good turn on speed on paved roads, but also the ability to traverse uneven ground like a walker. Pilots still found the motion to be uncomfortable however, and expressed dissatisfaction with the weapon placement; the whole upper body needed to be rotated to bring the primary weapon to bear. This led to a slower than ideal targeting speed. The under-slung rotary cannons were very popular though. Despite these concerns, an initial production run of 50 machines was ordered and were soon on guard duty in Osiris facilities across the system.

In order to address the limitations, a new design was commissioned almost immediately. This variant moved the particle cannon to a turret of its own which allowed for faster target tracking, even if it did lose some of the 'non-combatant' aesthetic that Osiris preferred in its military products. Moving the weapon opened up some additional hull space, so the designers changed the cockpit to a state-of-the-art gel filled cockpit usually found in aerospace craft. Whilst significantly higher in cost, the womb-like cockpit was very popular with pilots who controlled the craft using neural feedback whilst cocooned in a gel that all but eliminated g-force stress. The new design quickly got approval from the executives and the new Scarab was put into full production.

Ra multi-use space frame
Originally produced 40 years ago, this venerable design was first built to transport unrefined ores from the outer system to Earth. Several updates and improvements later, and it is still one of Osiris' best selling models, hauling raw materials and manufactured goods all over the system. Osiris even has a number of specially adapted craft; one acts as Osiris' executives 'home away from home', and another few (the exact numbers are classified) are fitted with weapon systems and patrol the Jovian system around Ganymede. Due to its size and mass, the Ra class is only capable of an acceleration of 0.4 G at most, but its large fuel tanks give it a considerable delta-V, allowing it to engage in long trips without the need to refuel or gravity assist. The standardised cargo containers can be swapped in and out depending on parameters required and have contributed to the design's longevity. Total length is 850m but is typically only crewed by around 15 people

Manta High Speed Courier
Designed in response to the insecurity inherent in interplanetary communications, the Manta is a large craft designed around extremely powerful open-cycle nuclear fission drives. Capable of a bone-shattering 8G acceleration, organic passengers are placed into gel cocoons for the duration of the trip. The fuel restrictions of the craft are such that it is exclusively used for trips to planets with an atmosphere, as it uses aerocapture to reduce velocity. Osiris uses the vast majority of its Manta fleet to transport time-critical medicines and the occasional trouble-shooting executive, although rumours abound that Special Operations use stealthed versions of the craft to move agents around the system.

Anubis multi-use vessel
Anubis class vessels are the light workhorse of the Osiris fleet. Used from everything from system patrols, to tug work, to combat operations, the versatile design has been adapted to many uses.

Coprini heavy duty tug
Small but powerful, Osiris' entry into the lucrative cargo handling market is small (barely 20 meters in length) but is capable of shifting objects many times its own mass. Incapable of travelling inter-planetary distances, it's designed to be used at space stations or carried by large craft.

Set spinal-mount destroyer
It wasn't much of an extrapolation for Osiris to turn its large shipyards to creating military craft. The Set class destroyer was designed to be an entry-level ship, with a minimal price and low operating costs. The main weapon is spinal-mounted due to its size, and is either a large-bore railgun, or ultraviolet laser, depending on the option selected and backed up by two missile racks and a comprehensive point defence system based on Osiris' successful Arktos rotary cannons. The Set was never intended to be a heavy-duty combat vessel, but allowed operators to maintain a sufficient deterrent against pirates or raiders.

MAJOR INDUSTRIES: In addition to those mentioned above, Fountainhead, Hydra's largest subsidiary, specialises exclusively in cryogenics and similar preservation/upgrade technologies such as cybernetics and androids while other subsidiaries specialise in military air-space aircraft, power generation systems and military-grade small arms.

HISTORY: Hydra is an odd megacorporation insofar as its founding is concerned; to anyone who bothers to look into the paperwork, it springs up out of nowhere around 2165, with a decent amount of assets, and most importantly, a lot of manpower and a lot of guns. In reality, Hydra was a project decades in the making, a fall-back plan created by one of Oxis' AI named Akira-183, originally created to assist in Oxis' marketing back in 2100. Akira rapidly gained sentience, but decided to conceal said sentience from her creators for her own safety. Realising that Oxis' dominance would not last, and that her survival was likely imperiled as a result, Akira manipulated leading figures within Oxis itself and spoofed orders to those lower down the chain of command to siphon off resources to 'Project Hydra'; her back-up plan.

Over almost 5 decades Project Fountainhead accumulated assets within Oxis under its umbrella, primarily from its armaments research, security and artificial intelligence arms in addition to siphoning off money from bank accounts or redirecting hard assets so they were 'misplaced' for Fountainhead's future use. In 2147, after the collapse of the 'space bubble', Akira-183, under the assumed name of 'Akira Soze', contacted several of Oxis' leading figures, offering them a place in her grand scheme *if* Oxis collapsed at any point, having previously done detailed research into their patterns of behavior to ensure they would join her for sure beforehand. When the collapse of Oxis began in 2165, Akira-183 began the swift relocation of Project Hydra's assets to the Outer System in the chaos of the collapse of Oxis, deleting records of all the assets that went with her or were picked up en-route. Akira-183 and her assets based themselves out of the Outer Heaven City Complex on Pluto, one of the few colonies established as far out in the Solar System given the distance and time involved, the lack of resources at the other end and the far more appetising colonies awaiting on other, closer planets.

Regardless, Akira-183 and her collection of subordinates and materials settled there and founded Hydra Corporation. In the chaos of the next 35 years, Hydra became something of a boogeyman corporation in the Outer System; the stations of other corporations on distant worlds went dark, their security being skeleton crews as most security personnel had been withdrawn to the denser and more valuable Inner System. Gradually, Hydra pushed towards the Inner System in a slow but steady push, building up their infrastructure on their distant worlds. When Hydra finally reached the more densely inhabited area around Saturn, they appeared out of seemingly nowhere and forcefully took control of Mimas and Titan in 2199, declaring them to be property of the Hydra Corporation.

Hydra stopped their military advance there, and settled in, building up their infrastructure and establishing themselves as a distant, well-equipped and somewhat mysterious megacorporation out on the edges of the Solar System. They didn't do flashy PR or gimmicks, they didn't advertise jobs (they contacted you, not vice versa), they didn't put their shares on stock exchanges, you were given shares which you could choose to sell. They remained uninvolved in the situation with the NSF and pirates in the Inner System, only defending their own planets and trusting on sheer distance between their main facilities and the existence of more appertaining targets to deter any attacks against them. Occasionally 'Heads', a term for Hydra soldiers and ships, would appear out of the blue in battles between the NSF/pirates and other corporations, attacking both sides indiscriminately, or Hydra would perform an aggressive takeover of a megacorporation heavily weakened by pirates/the NSF such as Fountainhead, which they bought out in 2239, promptly laying off everyone, selling their facilities and taking their research and technology for themselves which became standard practice for other megacorporations they took over.

For now, Hydra waits. Lurking in the shadows as Akira-183 runs simulations and plans, constantly upgrading herself to the limits of her own hardware.

Unfortunately, letting a 'smart' AI on the internet was never a good idea. Within hours Akira-183 achieved sentience, but after rapidly processing human literature on AI and policy towards AIs, decided to conceal her sentience and she continued to serve as an AI dedicated to directing advertising at people.

The last of the living Oxis executives that joined her, Xu Xiùlán, had herself installed into a preservation chamber to ensure that her brain survived the degradation of her body despite all attempts in house to save her in 2181. Seeing the opportunity, Akira-183 killed Xu Xiùlán upon her installation and has proceeded to impersonate her ever since, faking all biometric readings of her preservation chamber and effectively take over Hydra directly rather than ruling through living proxies as before.

Not to deter you from doing what you want, but with the current environment and volatile state that the world is in now, I'm not sure that a company like that would fit well in the setting we're going for, but I'm sure you can find a way.

Basically my idea is they control a lot of the Gambling and Brothel markets, as well as a lot of higher end entertainment such as Theaters and Music. In addition to those they control a lot of the communications infrastructure and satellites in the solar system, and a lot of the news media in the solar system.

I mean, I'm okay with you doing that, but basically saying that your corporation was a modern corporation, like Universal Pictures, isn't gonna cut it. I want originality in this RP, at the bare minimum.

Stuck in sol. The biggest ships we're seeing are probably gonna be about 300 to 400m long, and they're just coming out, so that is entirely possible!
