The Lanthe Route is a network of artificial and natural wormholes reaching from interstellar space near Kepler-296 to Vessader along the trailing edge of the Carina-Sagittarius Arm. The Lanthe is one of the most developed interstellar trade routes in the Milky Way Galaxy and among the oldest. It remains the most reliable method of navigating almost the entirety of the Gamma Quadrant from the Solarian Reaches and connects or passes near many quadrant hubs (including the Free Star Republic, Liu Xiu Special Economic Zone, the Uthani Imperium’s space, and the Solarian Trade Corridor). Patrolled by the Kriegsmarine and other Valinor security forces, the Lanthe remains a beacon of stability across the chaotic volumes.
Attention vessel, this is Lanthine Transit Control. Submit registration credentials, navigation request, and manifest. You will receive further instruction momentarily. Welcome to the Route.

What is the Lanthe Route?
The Lanthe Route is a network of artificial and natural wormholes connecting numerous systems and interstellar locations throughout the Alpha and Gamma quadrants. The Lanthe started as a long series of jumps around the galactic core charted to connect Valinon with the Orion Star Empire of Steel Butterfly and the Orion Sector. The economic and strategic value of the route led to the construction of a network of naval stations and listening posts along the route. Development of the Lanthe continued as the Valinor empire expanded in the Raumreich Oversector and Solarian Reaches. Even as Steel Butterfly ceased to be a major strategic partner, Valinon continued to expand the Lanthe and improve upon the original natural route especially through communication and transportation infrastructure. This led to the Lanthe being the first major deployment of quantum entanglement gates (QE-gates) outside the Solarian Reaches and transitioning the Route into its modern form.
The Lanthe Route is designated as a logistical network and infrastructure complex by the Office for Imperial Projects and Systems Development (OIPSD). It is jointly administered by the Imperial Armed Forces (IAF) and the Imperial Wormhole Control Service (IWCS). Since the Fifth Lanthine Transportation Act, transit duties and fees were abolished throughout the Route. The current Lanthine Formation consists of 13 wormhole junctions, 43 QE-gates, and scores of facilities ranging from traffic control centres, ansible platforms, warehouses, shipping centres, etc. The detritus of Valinon, its fellow Raumreich states, and a host of other nations collects in varying light centuries of depth along the Route and constitutes the Lee of the Lanthe or the Lanthine Lee—an unwieldy sea of client states, colonies, dependencies, minor states, and various free ports nominally enjoying imperial protection. Or at least imperial indifference.
Other routes and gate networks rise and fall. Even the terminals of the Lanthe have shifted. The Lee ebbs and expands, but the Route is eternal.
Who owns the Lanthe Route?
The Lanthe Route proper is part of the Demesne, or imperial territory proper. It is subject to imperial law and is legally indistinct from any of the empire’s constituent dominions. The civilian governance of the Lanthe is the responsibility of the IWCS, a uniformed service of the Ministry for Home Affairs. The defence and security of the Lanthe is the responsibility of the IAF, specifically the Kriegsmarine (KM) with the Office of Verge Affairs (OVA), the Reichswehr (RW), and the Imperial Border Agency (IBA) as coordinating partners. Like the imperial home systems, the Valinor government operates with a light touch. The empire is liberalised in its civil and economic rights, but it deals harshly with those that do manage to find themselves outside the boundaries of imperial law.
It is designated as a logistical network and infrastructure complex by the Office for Imperial Projects and Systems Development (OIPSD). It is jointly administered by IAF and the IWCS.
The spatial volumes and systems constituting the Lanthine Lee are more diverse in character. Some of these Dependent Areas or Crown Dependencies under imperial authority, but others are sovereign territory of another state. While much of the Lee is subject to regular patrols by a mixture of Kriegsmarine, OVA, and even other Raumreich navies operating as part of League of the Raumreich anti-piracy and commerce protection efforts, the patrols do not necessarily coincide with either the protection or restriction of imperial law.
I wish to get involved with the Lanthe Route, how do I do that?
The Lanthe Route and the Lee is largely open to any and all galactic nations that wish to take part and use it as a setting for roleplaying or nation-building. To this end, Valinon and the Raumreich Oversector support and operate this thread and a codex of locations (locations established by the Raumreich community and other nations). Please see the following post for the relevant forms and for a full listing of locations, et cetera, included in the Lee of the Lanthe.

Laws & Regulations of the Lanthe
I. All nations, corporations, organisations, and individuals using the Lanthe Route and/or operating facilities (Outposts) along the Route are subject to the laws of the United Star Empire of Valinon while using the Route or navigating its organised dependent territories. Extraterritoriality is not recognised within the Bounds of the Lanthe, excluding diplomatic envoys, missions, and ships accredited by the empire and protected by customary international law.
II. The United Star Empire permits the transit of military vessels along the Route under escort and with sealed weapons (as defined by the Imperial Wormhole Control Service, its agents, and imperial maritime law). The number of ships permitted is subject to the approval of the Admiralty and the IWCS. The empire reserves the right to rescind any or all military access and to enforce the removal of unwanted warships by any and all means necessary.
III. All superluminal and subluminal traffic (regardless of point-of-origin, port-of-deposit, or flag state) will adhere to the IWCS Transit Regulations and imperial maritime law while navigating the Lanthe Route.
IV. All nations, corporations, and organisations will cease outside hostilities upon entering the Bounds of the Lanthe. Violation of this provision will result in immediate expulsion or destruction of the offending parties and the revocation of all access to the Route.
V. Imperial law defines any and all attack upon the Lanthe Route, its Bounds, its infrastructures, and/or its protectors as an attack upon the sovereign territory of the Demesne. The United Star Empire of Valinon will respond to such action accordingly, up to and including a formal declaration of war upon those that attack its citizens, infrastructure, and property.
VI. In accordance with the Second Lanthine Transportation Act, Her Imperial Majesty and Her Majesty’s Government reserve the right to award additional privileges, rights, and duties onto those nations, organisations, and individuals deemed worthy and granted such extraordinary charter through the due process of imperial law (see Lanthine Rights).
VII. In accordance with the Third Lanthine Transportation Act, the Admiralty Courts of Her Imperial Majesty’s Kriegsmarine enjoy original jurisdiction in respects to civil and criminal matters pertaining to the Bounds of the Lanthe as a court of decreed jurisdiction. This original jurisdiction is held concurrently with the College of the Consuls (the imperial supreme court) and the Admiralty Courts may organise local courts and defer jurisdiction to them as the Courts see fit and in accordance with imperial law. In practice, the Admiralty Courts are the Lanthine arbiters of maritime contracts, injuries, offenses, and torts.
