I believe him to be driven overwhelmingly by two responses to childhood trauma: first, to ensure that no one else suffers as he has suffered; second, to prove to himself that he is not capable of the cruelty that was visited upon him. As a result, Det. Floyd is in general an exceptionally gentle man, careful to surround himself with social signifiers of nonthreatening masculine wholesomeness - woodworking, fishing, etc. He is highly intelligent and believes strongly, sometimes irrationally, in his own capacity to find humane and satisfying solutions to difficult situations. Born outside New Anglia 02/13/1983. Family was among the 48% of Monroe County year-round residents living in poverty. Parents worked service jobs during tourist season and were unemployed in off-season. Both were methamphetamine addicts and involved at a low level in trafficking of cocaine from South America. Only child; attended school only sporadically, and grades indicate difficulty with basic skills (literacy, arithmetic, etc.) Father served five and a half years in Union Correctional Institute, 1984-1990. Key early experiences: extreme poverty, severe neglect, foraging for food in dumpsters and on beaches frequented by wealthy tourists. Mother died of methamphetamine overdose in son's presence, 07/04/1992. Father arrested for parole violation in subsequent investigation. Child placed in foster care system with Edna and Henry Carver by Florida DCF.

Attended New Anglia public schools. School attendance stabilized while in the Carvers' care. Moved from remedial classes to honors courses in four years. Teachers' notes indicate a student who approached education as an escape from his environment. Achieved high level of fluency in Spanish. Physical health stabilized after early-childhood malnutrition; played varsity baseball at New Anglia Incorporated High School. Continuously employed from age 16 as hotel bellboy, waiter, and in other menial service positions in tourism industry.

BASIC BIOGRAPHY (At least four descriptive paragraphs): Rick isn't from New Anglia, or from anywhere close to that town, really. His original hometown was in the outskirts of Laredo, Texas, a small city known for being on the border with Mexico and for being almost entirely Latino. Both of Rick's parents were from the southwest, too. His father went to school at Texas Tech and then settled down in Lubbock, and would eventually find work that took him to Arizona, where he married Rick's mother and then lived for a couple of years before making the choice to return to Texas. The two ended up settling in Laredo because of a work opportunity that came up at Texas A&M International University for Rick's mother, and that was when the couple decided to have children.

Rick ended up being the second of two boys, born two years after his older brother. Life wasn't all that exciting or out of the ordinary, starting off. His mother was a teacher, his father did engineering work and made decent money with it... But Rick's brother ended up gaining a reputation as a troublemaker, as time went on. Ethan gained a reputation as a delinquent, and because of sticking closely to him growing up, Rick became known as one of the kids that hung with the wrong crowd. Not a bad kid, per say, but the type that was always around when trouble happened. His brother was mixed up in the smuggling trade between the United States and Mexico, and when Rick was seventeen, he would take a trip across the border with his brother for the first time.

The smuggling trade would bring in some money for the brothers that none of their other friends had at that point, but it also put them in the point of no return when it came to being around the wrong crowd. Instead of local troublemakers, they were spending time with Mexican gangsters that they moved increasing amounts of goods for. But they were good at it. They wouldn't get caught, and arms running seemed to be a good business for the brothers. The profits had to be kept secret from their parents, of course, but they began saving up and planning to move to a big city. When Rick turned eighteen, he sometimes took his brother's car and did his own runs across the border. It all fell apart, however. Ethan came up with an idea to steal from a cartel after making a delivery, to get the rest of the money needed to move to New York, which is where the brothers planned on settling.

The plan wasn't cautious enough, and they were caught in the act. Ethan would be killed by the cartel gunmen, forcing Rick to run. He'd escape, narrowly, and that was the point when he cut ties with the world of crime and became more of a straight shooter. Rick wanted to avoid the same fate as Ethan, and would never reveal the full story behind his brother's death to his parents. Instead, he would settle for a rather average retail job before taking the rest of his and Ethan's smuggling money and eventually moving to New Anglia. It was time for a fresh start, and being in Laredo was too much of a reminder of the past. After settling into New Anglia, Rick did a 180 in terms of career path, deciding to enter policing. It would give him a chance to lock up the types of people that still haunted him, the types that had shot his brother in front of him.

BASIC BIOGRAPHY (At least four descriptive paragraphs): Born in Maui Memorial in 1993 to retired USN Seabee George Price and Louise Allard, photojournalist of Lao-French descent. On their separation - the pair could not agree on a single place to live, or even that settling in a single place was an end goal at all - Price moved to the Keys while Allard continued covering stories worldwide. Starting his own construction company in New Anglia, Clare and Jacqueline did well enough in early life. Both sisters grew up around their father's workers - New Anglian locals, one and all - and so had more than enough big brothers watching them. Among the family, that particular crew earned the name 'the Price Club' - and George treated every one like family.

Between the two, Jacqueline took up the wanderlust and did the second-generation Navy thing as a diver. Clare stayed at home, training up to take over the company as George began thinking about retiring. However, this became a moot point as Jacqueline was invalided out of the Navy on medical grounds and at the same time, Clare learned of her pregnancy via one-weekend-stand with a tourist. Making the best of things - and at Jacqueline's suggestion - she let Jacqueline work on the company while she waited out her pregnancy. It was a close fit, anyway; she'd felt just a little less approval coming from George about being so shiftless, and putting on a uniform just seemed like a way to level out again with Jacqueline. Besides, the whole solidarity thing fit in with what she'd experienced from the Price Club.

Her time at the Academy wasn't outstanding, but she made it through and put on the brown and tan. As a rookie, she earned a spot on the Graveyard Shift with the rest of the Saints from Elsewhere.

Civilians facilitate a great deal of the logistics behind police operations. They run police communications and ensure that calls to 911 are passed down to the officers. Civilians are also office managers, accountants, receptionists, and the like.

As for super-special civilian roles, I'll offer up a role for a civilian forensic tech.

I'm going to be working on an app, I would suggst however for the sake of logistics on the department to run one caliber weapon (like the .40 S&W) I wouldn't suggest a standard weapon as it'll give everyone a chance to use a weapon they like. That's just my opinion and obviously nothing more lol. I am excited to do my app and be apart of this RP
