Repeal: “Ban On Ritual Sacrifice”
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: GA#416

Proposed by: Nchoburgh

General Assembly Resolution #416 “Ban on Ritual Sacrifice” (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

World Assembly,

I believe that ritual sacrifice is a cruel practice and don’t agree with it. That being said the WA supports all human freedoms. I believe that this violates human freedoms. If the person being sacrificed agrees and does it by choice the have the right to. If they are not doing it by choice then they should be arrested. That is murder.

Hereby:
1. Of a human is in full agreement and gets sacrificed by choice the have a right to be sacrificed without the people getting arrested.

2. If the person does not agree to be sacrificed, then it is murder and the police then have to right to arrest.

Human sacrifice is sickening and I will never in my life participate in such a thing, but if other people choose to they have a right.

Food Waste Management Act
A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Category: Environmental

Industry Affected: All Businesses

Proposed by: He Qixin 2

The World Assembly:

Remembering that in World Assembly Resolution #344, "Minimum Standard of Living Act", that the issue of living standards were addressed;

Knowing that food was addressed as part of the minimum living standards;

Thinking that before this resolution was passed, food wastage was not addressed, and even not fully addressed after the passing of this resolution;

However knowing that, one of the purposes of this resolution was so that everyone, be it the rich and the poor, can at least get some food;

Implying that the rich may have been wasting food, and not thinking about the poor before this resolution;

Also frightened that member nations may not have enacted food waste management laws yet;

Further knowing the many other causes of food wastage;

Therefore thinking that the problem of food wastage should be addressed immediately;

Therefore, the World Assembly hereby:

1. Defines, for the purposes of this proposal, "food wastage" as (a) "food that is discarded or lost uneaten" and (b) "a waste of the labour, water, energy, land and other inputs that went into producing food":

2. Declares a new law in all member nations in the compulsory management of food waste;

3. Further specifying that such "wasted food" includes thrown away litter like unfinished apple bones, unfinished rice and noodles on plates, biscuits not finished in a packet, etc.

4. Mandates that organizations of member nations must follow the law and manage any sort of food waste done by anyone;

5. Further mandates that member nations and its own citizens manage waste through any of the following methods;

(a) Creating food banks which contain waste foods that can be donated to the poor;

(b) Educating people about the dangers of food wastage;

(c) Creating a small network of businesses and non-profit initiatives to reduce food waste;

(d) Diverting food wastes away from land fills to prevent the production of methane;

6. Clarifying that there are other methods in which food waste can be managed; and

7. Further clarifying that no legislation in the WA that require otherwise, that food waste must be properly managed.

something from the Bad Idea Fairy. This is so full of fallacies and Bad ideas it is painful to read.

Electoral Freedom Act

A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: Furtherment of Democracy

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Alderri

Many member nations have a policy, preventing naturalized citizens from running for office. This infringes on Democracy, as only native-born citizens can hold offices. This resolution herby

Recognizes that higher offices should only be available to natives.

Worries that people cannot truly be represented if the options are this limited

Strives to find diversity in national governments

Mandates that naturalized citizens may hold public and/or elected office, provided they have a clean record

Further recognizes that the highest office in the land should only be available to a native-born citizen

Further mandates that only a native-born citizen may hold the office of Leader

Is 'Furtherment of Democracy' still an appropriate category, given that it significantly limits democracy in some ways while furthering it in others?

Also there's some resolution that bans medding with nations' internal tax rates.

Additionally a lot of the rest is duplication of various resolutions as well as possible breach of CoCR.

And a contradiction of GAR #88: WA Numeration and Units Act

General Assembly Proposal
ID: kesultanan_melayu_melaka_1516457016

Shark Protection Act

A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Category: Environmental

Industry Affected: Fishing

Proposed by: Kesultanan Melayu Melaka

Dear all World Assembly Delegates and Members

Shark as we know are the top predator in sea food chains, which controls the population of others fish and sea life that complete the entirely sea food chains.

Lately we can see the fishing industry that aiming to earn profit from shark fins trade has emerging further and this situation has make the population of shark significantly decreasing. So an immediate action must be started to preserve the future of shark population.

Hereby, this law will be the official sign of first step to reduce and finally will outlaw shark fishing and shark fins industry and trade globally.

Should this law after being approved by all the respective members of World Assembly, will enforce some enforcement towards shark protection all over this world.

Hereby, all countries will obey this act and start their own Shark Protection Programme and enforce a policy that helps reduce and outlaw shark fins industry and trade.

All countries also must be responsible to start amd fund their own Shark Preservation Programme in their own Sea National Park in order to return the balance in sea food chains.

Any countries, that breach this law will be put under scrutiny and should they still breach this law, they will be put under economy sanctions for the mean time.

This law also recommend all countries to start banning and outlaw shark fins industry and trade in the duration of 5 years after this law being approved .

Branding (we), Proposal Basics (“will” doesn’t actually do anything)? Also I don’t know if mandating economic sanctions is allowable.

National News Radio: A large-scale infrastructure project will soon be underway. During this time, for safety reasons, the island will be closed to tourists and foreign news agents. We do expect a minor loss in revenue due to this, but this will be greatly offset by both the long and short-term benefits of the infrastructure project. If your job is negatively impacted by the island closure, please send a letter or verbal message via courier to the Council so that we can add you to the list of beneficiaries of foreign aid.

I disagree: Whatever the author's intentions might have been , that 'We' could easily be read as meaning "We, the members of this Assembly" which is acceptable.
However, I am calling it illegal for Contradiction of GA Resolution #88.

The "we", again, could be read as "we, the members of the WA" which is okay.
The"will" is just about acceptable, although proposals are supposed to be written in the form that they'd take as passed laws so that "Should this law after being approved" is -- in addition to being a bit garbled -- a bit iffy.
Mandating economic sanctions might be allowable if a specific WA committee was designated to set the levels for those: Without that duty being assigned, however, it does indeed make the proposal illegal ('Game Mechanics').
Also, this contradicts GA Resolutions #199 'Sustainable Fishing Act' and #267 'Sensible Limits on Hunting', both of which specifically allow member nations to make their own decisions about how such matters are handled within their jurisdictions (as long as the stocks of animals involved are not endangered)... and it looks like "trying to affect non-WA nations as well as WA members" to me, as well.

Citizens Justice Act

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Alderri

Observing that there is currently no guarantee of justice for those accused of criminal acts.

Noting that convictions are often unsafe due to the absence of any legal requirements for a trial under international law

Remarking that miscarriages of justice are common.

Believing that it should be everyone’s right to be protected from malicious and unfair prosecution by law.

Further believing that the more rigorous examination of evidence seen in a fair trial will lead to fewer innocent people being unfairly punished.

Hereby mandates that all WA member nations guarantee a fair trial to anyone facing prosecution in their territory, in accordance with the following requirements:

Article 1 § That the accused be seen as innocent until proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubt, thus placing the onus of proof on the prosecuting authority.

Article 2 § That the defendant be given the right to present his case or to be represented by a person of his choosing.

Article 3 § That the evidence shall be considered by an impartial jury of no less than 5 people and presided over by a judge with knowledge of the laws being applied and the requirements for a trial.

Article 4 § That all persons shall have the right to remain silent when questioned, and exercising this right shall not be used as evidence against them in court.

Article 5 § That information and testimony may not be extracted under duress or using any form of physical or psychological torture.

Article 6 § That the defendant shall have the right to question any witness who provides evidence.

Article 7 § That the defendant be entitled to appeal against both the sentence and verdict that has been passed.

Article 8 § That any punitive sentence passed by a court be proportional to the crime committed.

Article 9 § That the proceedings of the trial conclude within a reasonable time period.

Vegetarian Options In More Chain Restaurants

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights

Strength: Mild

Proposed by: Dizgovzy

Service to many vegetarians in the world is unattainable in many eating establishments due to the lack of available options for these customers. This law, if approved, would give more business to restaurants and increase happiness of the vegetarian population, as well as lowering costs for the restaurant.

Article 1)
Section 1.) For each menu section, at least one vegetarian option must be present. This includes dessert, as gelatin is included in many desserts.
Section 2.) Vegetarian meals shall be cooked using separate equipment so as to not contaminate the food.
Section 3.) Chefs must be aware if a vegetarian meal is being prepared.

Article 2)
Section 1.) Restaurants that comply with this law, services within member nations, must exhibit a sign that includes, "Vegetarian Options" on the storefront and on each menu.
Section 2.) Vegetarian options will have a green 'V' next to the name of the item.
Section 3.) If a restaurant gives out complimentary mints, condiments, ect., and they are not vegetarian, notification must be present.

Category violation- this is NOT a human rights matter.

Indeed

Also, I don't think the "Emergency Management Act" is committee-only, thanks to that last clause and a recent-ish GenSec ruling. I think it's got a lot of overlap with existing resolutions, though, so possibly duplication instead.

"Dear all World Assembly Delegates and Members" doesn't constitute branding? I thought the idea was that the proposal had to be written from the viewpoint of the WA as a whole, not as a letter from one nation to the WA...?

Cannabis Legalization Act
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights

Strength: Mild

Proposed by: Alderri

This resolution is simple, but important. It Mandates all member nations who have legalized alchohol also legalize Cannabis for recreational use

Any member nation in which alcohol is not legal is not obligated to comply with this resolution, unless a situation arises where alcohol is suddenly legal in a member nation where it was illegal during the passage of this resolution, then the member nation would automatically be subject to the guidelines of this resolution.

The use of Cannabis in member nations will be subject to any restrictions said member has around Smoking and Alcohol for recreational use

Justifies this in that Cannabis does less damage than alcohol, therefore anybody with the right to use alcohol should be able to use Cannabis

Wrong category, optionality.

Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.
