Papal States Swiss Guard- 200 strong military regiment of loyal Swiss guards, either born in Switzerland or born in the Papal States to Swiss parents they are given a heavy chest plate and halberd. They sadly were reduced to a ceremonial role in the country and have only a few outdated rifles in storage. Lack discipline, organizational training, and lack of administration. But hey they are Swiss Guards nonetheless.

Noble Guard- 2,000 strong Heavy Cavalry regiment that serves as the household guard of the Pope and the Papal States, they are given tasks such as protection and transportation of the Pope, guarding the Pope, and given special duties within the Papal States itself. Armed with a mix of carbines, pistols and sabers they are versatile though in limited number.


Palatine Guard- 3,000 strong militia regiment of locally recruited Italians with the duty of protecting Rome and the Papal States, they are given a mixed and wide variety of weapons with limited training. They have little organization, little experience, and might as well be equivalent to peasants with guns.
Not to be trusted with any other army and only employed by the Papal States due to general negligence of the military.

Catholic Volunteers and Mercenaries- 6,000 strong multi-cultural regiments of volunteers or mercenaries who have come or been hired to the Papal States in its defense, it is the main back-bone of the Papal Army given it has decent organization within its cultural units. Though organization and communication is a general problem the volunteers have with the other cultural volunteers, as well as lack of standardized equipment usually given old rifles or what they have brought along.

The wards also have their own provincial governments with a Provincial Diets, as well as a court system and a provincial executive branch. Army: With around 100,000 active troops and 320,000 Reserves the Country has developed a good military in the time its had. The standard equipment of a soldier is a Spade, Hatchet, Bedroll, Bred Bag, Canteen, 2 Ammo Packs, A Rifle, a cotton shirt, wool socks, and a pair of boots. Being Well Equiped allows the army to operate in the harsh and varying climates of Fusang from Arctic Alaska to the Eastern Desert and Tropical Baja California. Troops are also trained to fight in all sorts of climates. The army is under direct supervision of the government and positions are earned completely of merit. The army was created to fight off the large Wu garrison in the 1770s and earned many nicknames from their opponents. The army is largely based in the coast with its only major base inland being in Los Angeles en Desiertos (Las Vegas), a city formed as a safe haven for Hispanic Christians from Bhuddists, now largely populated by white Christian and Mormon immigrants. To make up for their short comings in the east, the army relies on Bush Rangers. A nickname for a type of mercenaries who are given contracts to defend key vantage points in the region but oftentimes bribed and thus ineffective. Their is a famously unit of Pueblo Troops that are stationed out of Ft Desert (Reno) who are the best Cavalry unit in the army. Speaking of Cavalry the Horse Troops are few in number. Brief Description of your Economy: The rice industries were the dominant agricultural sector until the wine/liquor industries were created in the Tiantai Valley (Napa Valley), and later the beef, chicken, and fishing industries. Besides the agriculture industry, the mining and Shipbuilding industries have also been boosted since independence. With the development of adequate roads and transportation the manufacturing industry has shown potential as the urban population begins to rise quicker and quicker. As the urban centers continue to grow along with the educated populace, the possibility of growth in the financial and service sectors has been flirted with and some larger companies have begun investing into the sectors.

History: The first ships arrived in Gangkou (Santa Barbara), after a long journey a walled town was built. To be the first of many cities and towns in the new world. Fueled by new colonists the town grew in population. Soon an expedition to the north was organized. They came back with news of a great bay with a wonderful natural port. A city would be built up there named Yan Gang or Salty Port in English. Soon many other expeditions were organized under grants from the government, with lots of funding going toward this some started to go inland where they discovered a a desert land and many rivers. Sick of the large tariffs, a group of ships sailed north and went around Japan, soon they hit the Aleutian Islands and Alaska. In this cold land they built several coldwater ports. In Alaska oil was the main industry with large whale populations in the area, blubber made good oil, wood and mining would soon become big industries in the north however it was restricted in the winter.

Brief Description of your Economy: The economy is pretty alright I guess. It ships large numbers of raw products such as wood and metals to Italy for processing, and also has a market in handicrafts such as tailoring and accessories. The Dalmatians in the cities tend to be disproportionately wealthy due to ancient trade connections, and these connections are held up through the ages. Just following established tradition can bring a pretty decent income from the materials exported from the hinterlands of the country.
Goals: Recapture the Illyrian coast, and then continue to exist- reintroduce Albanian culture to the whole area, grow and prosper, maybe fight off everyone else in the Balkans because...Balkans
History: In the year 1204, a large ethnic revolt against the Eastern Roman Empire broke out. This revolt, fueled by popular support and located among the rough hills of an autonomous region, held out well against the Roman attempts to take it back. At the time, the empire indeed had much more to worry about than a simple group of angry farmers- leading, naturally, to the revolt's becoming an established authority. Before anyone really realized it, the Principality of Arbanon, led by its archon, had become fully independent and recognized by outside powers. Little violence truly occurred, and indeed it was perhaps the most peaceful era of rebellion seen by the whole of the continent.

By the Ottoman era, the principality's independence had been fading once more. Reduced to a tributary of their empire, one brave man known by the name Skanderbeg rose against them. The sheer ferocity of his rebellion, shielded by mountains and castles and with mercenary support, brought the Ottomans to a near halt in their expansion. His revolt proved ultimately successful, though with a heavy cost. The Ottomans, seeing little use in pursuing goals in what was to them a tribal backwater devoid of valuable cities and ports unlike the rest of Illyria, chose to not spare the effort in reconquest that would be better spent fighting wars in Slavic and Asiatic regions.

Albania remained as it did under the Castrioti, but this dynasty soon bred itself out through natural causes. A cadet took charge, and ruled for a few centuries in an attempt to lead in the Renaissance. Their connections to their cousins in Naples, the other branch of the Castrioti, proved invaluable as contacts to notable Italian Renaissance leaders. The country, inspired by these Italians and left mostly in peace apart from the occasional Venetian half-hearted attempt to capture the coastline, scrounged for any allies it could get during this period. It particularly looked towards the Italians and the Balkans, initiating friendly relations with several lords from Vlachs to Magyars to Germans to Tuscans.

Over time, this dynasty, like its predecessor, faded. The last female member married into the family of a local tribal lord, and with this his children inherited the country. The Illyrian-based nationalism that had been slowly creeping through the nation soon exploded with the rise of the concept of nationhood as distinct, necessarily, from a simple state. Albania, taking itself as the successors of the ancient Ardiaei, ruled itself as the Illyrian nationstate and, appropriately, began to lay claim to the rest of the lands of Serbs, Croats, and Bosniaks. Each, in turn, having some form of Albanian presence and Dalmatian Romance as their own. Within this new nationalism, the Dalmatians became much more accepted as "Romanized" versions of the Albanians that held an equal spite of the Slavic migrants. Although no action has yet been taken, the latest series of kings seem to have been making preparations to launch a campaign against the Slavs for the reclamation and restoration of the Illyrian Kingdom. Whether or not this comes to fruition or success, however, can only be seen later.

Brief Description of your Economy: The economy is heavily capitalistic, however the Republican cause has caused many to stop and consider the future of the French economy. Louis-Napoleon has stated he will make it easier for small businesses to form and prosper therefore allowing the nation to be self-dependent; economic wise atleast. However it is too soon to say what is to happen. Louis-Napoleon has approved seizing the former Kings possessions and selling them; sending half of the fortune to the King and those who lost said property. This has funded the Army plans.

RelationsThe Commonwealth maintains trade relations with Great Britain and several other Western Countries. However, each of the Kingdoms can make their own foreign policy to a degree. They may not form alliances or wage war without consent of the Emperor, however the current Kievan Emperor has allowed each state to pursue their own foreign policy with the exception of making war. However, this has not stopped Poland and Muscovy from planning them. Overall the Commonwealth only maintains good relations with Great Britain, Greece, and the American Federal Commonwealth.

Religion: There is no official religion within the Commonwealth due to the Second Treaty of Minsk, which recognizes that each monarch of each individual realm gets to decide what religion is the official religion within their realm.
Ethnicity: Numerous ethnic groups are present throughout the Commonwealth, the majority being, Polish, Lithuanian, Russian, Byelorussian, Ukrainian, and Turks.

Military Info
Army: While the military was meant to be under one unified command under the original terms of the Commonwealth, following the Commonwealth Civil War (1805-1814) and the decentralization of the Commonwealth, the Imperial military was cut down to only whatever forces the Emperor could muster from his own lands, as well has being able to handpick 6,000 men from each state to form the Imperial Guard. However, states are allowed to contribute larger numbers if they so wish to. Despite this, all the forces of the States are considered to be part of the Imperial Military just under Independent Commands.

The quality and training of the Commonwealth military varies from state to state. Poland is considered to be the best equipped and trained with Lithuania second, Russia third, and Kiev fourth with its irregulars. The Imperial Army is the elite troops hand selected by the Emperor or Empress himself.

Brief Description of your Economy: Varys from each Kingdom with Russia and Kiev keeping a tight leash on the economy and closely linking it to the State while Lithuania and Poland practice more free market economies. Poland and Lithuania are well developed with many roads being somewhat paved and while Kiev and Russia are not with the majority of roads being unpaved dirt paths. The Commonwealth actively trades with its neighbors and more importantly Great Britain.
Goals: Centralize the State, Beat the Ottomans and Hungarians, Prep for Persian Conflicts, and possibly erode the German Confederation
History:
Treaty of Minsk: 1572-1670
1571: Signing of the Treaty of Minsk unifying the realms of Poland Lithuania and Russia into one single Commonwealth with Ivan IV. However as part of the treaty, each nation maintains a separate ruler and the position of King is elevated to Emperor to represent its status over the three realms.
1584: Following the Death of Ivan IV, for fear of Russia leaving the Commonwealth, his son Feodor the First is elected in hopes of tying the three realms securely together.
1600: At the End of Feodor's reign, with his death, his brother Boris Godunov was selected to be his heir. His short reign would be the beginning of the Time of Troubles in Russia.
1616: Following a large famine and the short lived Peasants Kingdom formed during the Russian Peasant Revolt, which was put down with Lithuanian and Polish arms, the Romanovs were selected by a national assembly of Boyars with the guidance of Polish-Lithuanian Arms.
1630: An attempted Boyar revolt threatening the Romanov power base by challenging the national assembly vote is viciously stomped out by Micheal Romanov who would go onto virtually stomp out any real authority the Boyars had instead making the title of Boyar more of a administrative title rather then one of nobility.

1801: Reign of Paul I begins while his reign was short it was the cause for the inevitable Commonwealth Civil War that had been slowly brewing since the end of the Seven Years War and the Second Northern War. What the immediate cause would be is his attempts at permanently centralizing all four states into a cohesive bond under the monarchy, replacing the monarchs with more of governors and shifting the dependence from the states to the Monarch. However he did push for the Monarchy to still be elected and to maintain the electors in hopes of "preventing the dominance of one state above all."
Commonwealth Civil War: 1805-1814
Congress of Vienna and a Republican Commonwealth: 1815-1822
The Time between the Congress of Vienna and the end of the Commonwealth Civil War marked a new era in the Commonwealth with the Republican Factions winning but, they still maintained the Monarchy which would inevitably be their failing in the Revolution of 1822 which forced the Republican Government out by way of popular revolt. The election for the Monarchy was held soon after with the Kievan Hetman easily winning as he was seen as the last true "neutral" in the great debate over centralization as now the Russians and Poles prepare to settle soon.
Reign of the Hetman: 1822-Present
Nothing of note has been marked under the Hetman despite his stance of maintaining the Status Quo in Europe and in the Commonwealth which has caused the whole nation to reach a boiling point.
