Space Programs

Postby Lunatera » Sat Jan 13, 2018 6:24 pm

Does your country have a space program? If so, talk about it. How advanced are you? How far have you traveled? What is/are your space port(s)? Are they independent, government backed, or both? Can you name any notable astronauts? Any notable rockets or other vehicles? Have you been to other worlds? You don't need to answer all of these. Just answer the one you want to. Lunatera is beginning its space program. We have built a space port at Port Asteri. We have developed the Hasta 11 rocket. Tests have been positive and soon we can launch people. We hope to get to the moon within a decade. We also have plans for space stations. One imbitious idea is to build a giant cartwheel space station that could house a settlement of civilians. Opening up space to settlement. If successful, we would welcome all settlers from all lands as humanity spreads.

Questions regarding the Toinan Space Committee:

The Toinan Space Committee, or TSC for short, is a state-owned space agency similar to modern day NASA. Currently, we have traveled no further than Lunar orbit with unmanned vessels and LEO with manned vessels. As for landing on other worlds, yes. We have landed on the Moon twice, both with unmanned landers. Notable rockets include the Ocean I launch vehicle, a rocket that looks like it is only capable of LEO, but is, in fact, capable (but just barely) of getting to Lunar orbit. We also currently have a space station in Earth orbit, Aurora Station (OOC: not an original name, I know, but I like it).

OOC: Nothing I can do, and I'm not intending on attacking these nations verbally, but personally I am not a fan of those super high-tech countries with 500 thousand space colonies, can get to Alpha Centauri and other star systems in seconds, and have incredibly advanced space stations with very advanced artificial gravity. Unlike these folks, I am actually going for realism.

Yes, but we are severely limited. Because we're trapped on a moon hopping from universe to universe through the use of unknown and extremely advanced alien technology, it makes offworld travel rather...complicated. Our ships have to regularly return for each transition, and be careful to not be left behind.

Despite our precautions, we have occasionally lost people and ships to the transitions.

Sort of like a small terraformed Mars that can teleport between universes. We don't have control over the world engine, so don't blame us if we appear in orbit around your planet.

This nation/world is always orbiting around some version of Earth (Unless there is no Earth in that universe), so the sudden appearance of this world in a universe usually has nasty tidal consequences on an Earth that doesn't have a similar Moon already.

The closest thing Byzanthia has to a space program is the "Institute for Aeronautical Research" (IAR). While its research focuses on space and other related topics, the institute itself does not launch any rockets. The launching of rockets is usually done by the European Space Agency (ESA), an organization that the IAR is a part of thanks to Byzanthia's EU membership.

For either local or space travel, our citizens prefer to use a chrono-synclastic infundibulum. It is, however, a little unreliable. Just ask Billy Pilgrim.

Rather than maintaining an expensive national space agency, we contract numerous aerospace corporations for our exploration needs. We are the spearhead partner in the construction of a multi-national space station,we have the beginnings of our first lunar colony, and we've set a goal to begin colonizing Mars and Venus before the decade is out, not because these things are easy, but because they are hard.

In addition, our Navy never bothers with aircraft carriers, because our Air Force maintains a fleet of man-rated, 10-minute-readiness launch vehicles capable of earth-to-earth high-suborbital hops with fighter jets as their payloads.

Following the establishment of the National Aerospace Research Directorate on December 17, 1958, the People's Republic of Zhouran has achieved full orbital launch capability.

On May 17, 1962, the Xinshi-1 satellite, which was created as part of the Xinshi (Putonghua: 信使) satellite program, was successfully launched.

On December 22, 1969, as part of the Xiwang-1 spaceflight mission, the National Aerospace Research Directorate sent a human to space, as part of the Xiwang (Putonghua: 希望) human spaceflight program. The People's Republic of Zhouran had achieved human spaceflight capability.

Since the 1960s, the People's Republic of Zhouran is Asia's first nation, as well as the third nation in the world after the former USSR and the US, to achieve full orbital launch capability. As a result, the nation is Asia's leading space power, as well as one of the leading nations in rocket-building and satellite-building. Not only that, Zhouran is also known for providing launch services for other nations by launching foreign satellites into space. Currently the People's Republic of Zhouran has a large amount of satellites in orbit, with an estimate of around 2,000 satellites.

Under the various leaders of the Gryphonian Alliance, a major series of space projects have been supervised. We're fairly advanced, taking place nearly 100 years in the future, but still a little closer to PMT than to FT. The GASP(Gryphonian Alliance Space Program) has sent a probe out to Sedna, the most distant dwarf planet in the solar system, and maintains a continuous presence in the asteroid belt, with various robotic probes mining for minerals and fuel. It has prime control of Earth's Moon until 2150, and has used this advantage to establish a large number of colonies across the surface, many with spaceports equipped for transport to Mars or Earth. On Mars the GA also has established a colony. It hopes to be the first nation to colonize Venus. Though the GASP is government-backed, multiple other private agencies exist, which the GA strongly encourages. Many of these provide quick transit between the Earth and Moon and have served to continue the colonization of the Moon and Mars where the GASP has left off. Some notable astronauts are Jesae Drindix, Mare Kelwood, and Durigge Pelfrun, the first Griffins in space, and Jedren Kaitus, the first Griffin on the Moon. Borel Ventikantams was the first Griffin on Mars. Our notable spacecraft are:

First, the Hestia capsules. The Hestia capsules were eventually made obsolete by the Hestia MC capsules. Also, the Kronos 1 rocket required to propel them into space. This was replaced by Kronos X, and later Kronos CF. This was soon replaced by the Kronos OP model. Towards the end of the Hestia program, the Kronos line was replaced by Zeus. After Hestia ended, the capsules were replaced by the new Ares-Artemis line. The Zeus rocket was replaced by the ZenithZeus model during the course of the Ares-Artemis program. The autonomous Cornucopia shuttles were also devised druing this time as a way to quickly and cheaply transport materials across the solar system.

Germany pioneered the earliest rockets and while some of the top minds got taken to the USA and USSR, a space program still exists. The DLR is the official state space agency, handling most of the projects aimed outside the atmosphere. Understandably it's behind the USA (they're still the only ones on the moon) in some ways. Their main focus is on probes such as the Uhu series of monitoring satellites as well as designing the V-## series of nuclear and ballistic missiles. Though they also perform private contracts such as telecommunication satellites. Work is being made on performing manned orbital flights in the future.

Yes, we have a space program. Then again, we are an FT nation and we one of the top space navy's in the...world?
This nation a funsion between capitalism and social democracy (the only type of socialism made to actually be incorporated into capitalist governments rather than trying to destroy it).

This nation is PMT/FT. Sometimes modern tech.

We are technically centrist.

Moravianda/Bohemia does indeed have a space program.

Earth: BOR-1, BOR-2
Moon: Hrdina
Mars: Královna

BOR-1 BOR-1 was the first space station sent by the BSA (Bohemian Space Agency) in 1992, it was a test of the BSA to test the possibility of living in space, however, it lost control, and crashed. The current crash location is still unknown.

BOR-2 BOR-2 is the 2nd space station sent by the BSA, and the first one with crew. It has been launched in 1995, and it is a "better" version of BOR-1, and it indeed succeeded. It has a crew of 3, and new expeditions are sent each year.

Hrdina Hrdina was a probe sent by the BSA to the moon in 2001, it was used to scan the surface of the moon. It had 2 runs, the first one, scan was successful, and the data was sent back to the BSA headquarters, but in 2002, it accidentally crashed on the surface of the moon. BSA has no other intentions of returning to the moon.

Královna Královna is a probe created by the BSA, the intentions of it is to reach mars, and bring back multiple rocks, the Probe hasn't been finished yet, and it will be finished somewhere around middle 2018.
NS stats are the best.

The Gandoorese Space Administration is the space program of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor. It was established in 1986 although our first unmanned launch wouldn't occur until 1989. The first Gandoorese astronauts were Isei Tanaka, Eichi Sugihara, Robert Hard, and Victor Chaly, who were sent into space in 1995 and spent two months orbiting Earth.

In the modern day, the GSA has six research satellites and one space station in orbit around the Earth. The space station, the Gandoorese Scientific Station, was launched in 2003 and is staffed by five astronauts at a time.

We have not landed on any other celestial bodies yet.

My region's nations had launch capability since the first Roman catapults flung diseased cows and corpses at rebel hill forts, advanced to Trebuchets in later wars, then cannon launched humans for entertainment. After rocketry advanced beyond buzz bombs our nations worked on increasing range and distance to achieve intercontinental ballistic missiles with new and improved explosive warheads. Human testing was stopped because of the spatter factor. There were manned flight attempts to reach the limit of space recently with ME-282's, but those missions are classified

National Socialist America as a partner of the European Space Administration, has a space program under development and is a nuclear power. There is some scientific research and observation on Rigel but everything else is classified by the Reich until antifascist resistance is quelled, and America can return to pure science again. We will undoubtedly go to the moon, Mars and establish a military presence throughout the solar system to protect mining and colonization efforts in the future

South Miruva does have a space program, but almost only in name. Its predecessor, the New Moravian People's Republic, sent satellites and even one cosmonaut, Nicholas "Nicky" Riomann, into orbit through the Soviet space program in the early 1960's. After occupation and eventual liberation by and from the United States, South Miruva has launched one microsatellite, the 35 kg "Stalwart 1," into low Earth orbit for survey purposes; plans have been made for a satellite network and ultimately human spaceflight through the Department of the Sciences's Union Aerospace Administration (UAA).

No, the Imperium does not have any dedicated "space program" - it would be kind of redundant in an age when interstellar travel and colonization is about as commonplace as transoceanic shipping in the 21st century. There are only various colonization initiatives and deep space exploration initiatives.

Yes, we have a quite advanced space program, for our tech level. It has brought numerous advances to Somalia's sciences, making us the envy of the African continent. However our focus is on a new satellite system. Our design, Eebe (named after the ancient Somali god of the sky) in joint cooperation with South Africa, Madagascar, India, Indonesia and Australia, will supersede the current US GPS and EU Galileo systems.

Eebe will be a network of 300 satellites and 10 stations in a lattice around the earth. It will also double as a preliminary planetary defence network, as a part of the 2050 plan, which allow fully integrated planetary defence network, complete with orbital energy weapon and FTL starships.

Postby Democratic Exodian Territories » Mon Jan 15, 2018 4:19 pm

Exodia, compared to most of its other counterparts, doesn’t have a fully-fledged space program due to expenses with other issues. The Exodian Space Agency, funded just as much by donations as much as government funding, sits behind.

Our official space program is very military-driven; dozens of small spy satellites have been launched near the end of last year. A proper orbital attack system is still just on blueprints, though, and a space station, for military or civilian purposes, is not planned at all. Most satellites aren’t actually launched by rocket, rather through the Exodian Armed Forces’ Morning Star “Verne gun” system. We’ve made a breakthrough in non-rocket spacelaunches, in the very least.

In the civilian and domestic market, broadcasting companies and even some cellular service corporations often launch their own satellites to provide the Exodian archipelago with very fast internet and phone service.

Exodia is starting to make footholds, though. New military aircraft, ones that have ion thrusters as well as airbreathing jet engines, are starting to be produced, and tests in leaving the atmosphere, now a bit rushed due to the new conflict in Katsur and the need for space-capable fighter craft, are due to happen in a few months. It’s very likely we’ll see the first Exodian in space, as well as the first successful non-rocket spacelaunch of a person, quite soon.
